Came here with low expectations but my expectations were exceeded. The produce here was actually quite fresh and reasonably price. The outside does look rundown and ghetto but once you actually get inside it looks like a very normal Asian market. I came here for hotpot ingredients and they have everything from veggies to all the meats that you would need. This is my new goto in the area for Asian goods.

    One fish to go.

Pretty good for Asian supermarket in El Monte area. They have most of what 99 ranch has, if you need cheap veggies go there.

Yelp 100 Challenge 2017 - #92/100 This used to be El Valle grocery store. There was always something going on as far as improvements. First, I noticed that the aisles seemed a little cleaner and the lighting a lot better. Then, a boba station popped up. I don't know when the name finally changed. I didn't notice any signage that said grand opening, under new management, or something like that. Their meat station had a B grade. I agree as I could smell the unpleasant odor while I was making my rounds through the store. I know where I'm not getting my meat from. Their fruits and vegetables didn't look too fresh either as I noticed quite a few that are rotten but were still on display. Three stars coz they got frozen durian. Would've been 4 stars if they had my mom's special tea. We used to buy 30-40 boxes every time we come. Now they didn't even have one. Bummer now I have to look for them in another store. Some of the display cases were empty, looks like improvements are still ongoing.

Solid spot for hot pot supplies and packaged treats. Prices were much better than HMart/99/168 for the items I was shopping. If you can mind an older looking market, this place works out.

The place can be messy but they have the Asian food I need with good price and fresh produce. Wish I had enough space in my car to buy more

A nice Asian grocery store and usually open until 8 PM. The downside is the entrance is not well lighted and not eye-catching.

It's not "fake" American wagyu that's barely prime grade either--the marbling is a perfect balance between the richness of Australian/Japanese wagyus and a regular prime. The staff here are generally friendly and very helpful, and work hard to get you what you want. The only issue I've had over the years was one of the older guys behind the counter charging us for something much more expensive than what we actually asked for, and we had to drive all the way back to get a refund. Not sure what the deal was since we ran into him when getting the refund and he seemed annoyed rather than apologetic lol. But! Aside from that, everyone's great. When they're busy, grab a number from the corner and they'll call. There's a great selection in the case of just about every type of meat including fresh seafood. Bought a slab of Icelandic cod today as well because it looked so nice. If you order a lot, they'll ring you up in the back, otherwise they'll let you bring it to the front checkout to pay.

What really stands out about Mr. Meats is the consistency. Every visit, the prepared meats are fresh, high quality, and cook up tender and juicy with incredible flavor. I brought the issue to the cashier/manager's attention, hoping they would take the concern seriously. Instead, I was told, essentially, "deal with it" and that there would be no refund or exchange because it was a manufacturer problem and not their responsibility. That response was extremely disappointing. As a customer, I should not have to accept potentially contaminated food, especially after experiencing the same issue repeatedly. What was even more frustrating was the rude attitude and complete lack of customer service when I tried to address the problem. I understand that suppliers and manufacturers can have quality-control issues, but how a business handles a customer's legitimate food-safety concern matters. At the very least, I expected the manager to listen, acknowledge the concern, and try to find a reasonable solution. After three separate purchases with the same issue and how rude the staffs are, I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK TO THIS MARKET AGAIN. I advise others to stir away as well!!!!

We tried the normal beef, premium beef, lean beef, and premium beef tongue. I would say the normal beef a bit too fatty for my liking, but that's why they offer the lean option. The premium beef is between the lean and normal beef in terms of fat to meat ratio. It's well marbled. They ran out of normal beef tongue so we had to get the premium. Pricey but delicious and definitely our favorite. Although I've never had bad beef tongue before. Overall, everything was fresh, containers were labeled, and service was quick. Prices are fair as it is still a lot more economical than going to a restaurant. They take credit card with a minimum purchase. Parking is available and shared among all the shops in the plaza.
