The consistency of the soup was perfect and flavorful; lots of carrots, potatoes, macaroni and beans. I appreciate that all the employees in the deli department are very attentive to their customers. FYI - Their bentos get significantly marked down in the evening. I highly recommend checking out their hot food selection then. Friday's is when they have their $6 Kalua Pork bowl with rice and lomi salmon. Not sure which Fridays it is they have the $15 steak plate lunch. I love this Foodland! It's been my go to location for the past 5 years. I send Hawai'i goodies to my friends and family every other month so I'm always looking for goodies. I know I can rely on this Foodland to get what I need. I also like their selection of baked goods that get marked down at the end of the day. The bread is perfect for French toast or bread pudding. Their bakery also makes new snacks and desserts pretty often - currently they have ube (cinnamon rolls) rolls. So good! read more

Stopped into Foodland to buy some snacks. I also had to check out their poke. They had salmon poke but my wife wanted me to come back later after we had dinner. Unfortunately, when I returned, several hours later. The deli was closed and all the poke was pre-packed in ready to eat containers and no more salmon. I love the shoyu ahi here but they did not have any, so I picked up the spicy ahi poke. Yum! read more

Definitely not my usual Foodland... I'd remember going to this location in Ewa every time I'm visiting my bestie and though not usually a Foodland shopper in general before they had Safeway down the street whenever I needed an item this is always the place to go. The staff here has always been friendly with a smile and willing to help or answer any questions I may have this visit I was with my besties mom who will be leaving in a couple of days I found out she loved 'Ulu or Breadfruit and after a Yelp experience with 'Ulu Mana and their 'Ulu Chips I had to give them a visit since we were just a couple doors down at Longs remembering that Foodland has been carrying their products though sadly as I searched and asked they didn't have it...sigh! My sister lives in the area so this is our go to spot for poke whenever I come visit. It's inexpensive, fresh, and they have lots of variety. On this most recent trip, I discovered the raw marinated crab and Filipino spaghetti. Both were great and I wish I found out about it sooner. The deli foods here are really good. They said you can call and ask what they have avail for the day. And the staff if friendly and ready to assist or answer questions. I've had the chicken curry, Filipino spaghetti, pork guisantes and the other day, pinakbet. I think they don't go full Filipino on the pinakbet, which I don't mind, so the taste varies but it's still good. The other foods I've mentioned are also good and some of my favorites. I also like their corn dogs because I feel like the it's still doughy and I like that, but it is pricey. I do not like their bbq rib tips. It's hard and dry and it's just bbq sauce on it. read more

My go to foodland for poke! Only downside about this place is the parking is not the best. It's always so packed and you're bound to park far just to get to your destination. And the lines at the register get crazy long sometimes too. My favorites to get at their poke/seafood section is the california, spicy ahi and kimchi mussels! Love this new item! As a non-seafood eater, this is my version of a poké bowl. I'm gonna start off by saying that this is a good looking presentation. Portion wise I think its reasonable for just $9.99. What I love about this food item is the taste. Theres a good tangy kick to it, thats way more better than the taste of their orange chicken. You can taste the karaage but its the sauce on the chicken that makes it give an extra boost of flavor. Foodland at thai locale is pretty good. They always seem to have good manager "specials" which you can't beat really. Just have to look for them. Most of it is in the meat section. I just went in today and got Disney sized haha smoked turkey legs 4 for $15. With a sell by date of next week. They were cryovac which is even better. As with all Foodlands, I realized 3 things: 1. Shopping here is more expensive overall than any other grocery store; 2. They have the worst parking lots; 3. They have the best poke and fried chicken. You MUST have a Maika'i card to avoid paying even more markup. They do have more unique liquor selection but at a premium. Today we only went to Foodland because we knew they had boiled peanuts we needed for a party. Even though the party was literally next to Safeway Ewa, we know Safeway doesn't have boiled peanut. As usual, the line for poke was long, at least 10 people. Fortunately, the boiled peanut was pre-packed in containers near the poke so we could grab and go. Getting in and out of the parking lot is such a pain, we parked way down past Longs to avoid the congestion but on the bright side closer to the exit. read more

This is my first ever grocery store yelp review, but i gotta show these guys some love!! The gentleman in the front greets with such poise and positivity! Every interaction was very pleasant. Everyone seemed to be there for help. It was soo nice. Those ladies who helped in the seafood section was so friendly and quick! Poke section at this Foodland has really gone down hill. The quality of the fish they use is poor. Don't bother putting any left overs in the fridge. It'll be spoiled by the next day. Love the store most of the employees are rather helpful but I have one concern they have a reduced section and I feel as though it's not a fair situation because they don't put the reduced stuff on sale until after 2 o'clock in the afternoon now what happened to the people that shop and support their store all day long in the morning if you can't get there in the afternoon then SOL right I spoke to the manager several times and I got the same stupid answer well well that is how we do it. It's a poor answer a very poor answer and then to top it off you get over to the section where the sandwiches and stuff are and if they're going to reduce it, they market, but then they take it in the back and you don't see it, so does that mean that the employees get a first pick at it mention that to the manager also I will look into it. The first time I visited Kauai, we did our shopping at Foodland as the closest market to our rental home. My friend and I were pretty hungry so we grabbed a little poke to snack on while we waited for dinner to be ready. It was deliciously fresh and tasty! Alas, that can't always be the case. :/ Today I decided to give our local Ewa Beach Foodland deli a try. Sadly disappointing. Maybe it's because we got there close to 7pm and it looked like the deli was wrapping things up. Onto our experience... Customer service: average Rib tips: too chewy for me to try, expected for rib tips so not a negative; hubby said they're just average Spicy poke: the sauce flavor was delicious; good spice and creamy smooth (wish it was had some tobiko in it... seems like spicy ahi should always have that). The texture of the fish is similar to Costco pre frozen. :( I guess I'll stick to plantation tavern or Ono's until I could find a closer alternative. Prices: well, it's Foodland, so the price is fairly premium when it comes to groceries; I find myself easily paying 2-3x more than Safeway or Whole Foods but not reaping any extra benefits. Happy New Year! Foodland is by no means a hip or hipster place and this is my first review of the new year, so what is that telling me? Are my predictions for 2018 looking like this? 1) woke up with hang over 2) woke up to messy house and dishes in sink 3) woke up to dirty clothes in hamper 4) car was still dirty and not washed 5) the tiny shrimp in the aquarium are still swimming around in their poo 6) yard is still messed up 7) floor hasn't been mopped before start of 2018 Hmm I predict that 2018 will be very very boring and domestic, filled with more housework to do before 2019. The yard may not be done until 2020. Foodland is my domestic buddy, has been for years. Appearances can be deceiving, however. You'd think because the building is old, worn and pretty downright old-looking (I said old twice) that it wouldn't be hip and exciting? Well, the outside may look like Grandma Pudding but the inside looks like Ariana Grande, minus the saliva on the donuts. Speaking of donuts, they have a fine selection of the most cutest donuts and pastries! You don't need to go to no fancy hip donut boutique to get some really cute, sprinkly donuts! And they are all of 99 cents! There are breads flavored like guava, ube, taro, something else... They have my favorite Hangar One vodka (I keep hoarding the stuff but haven't actually had vodka in months; Hangar One in years) - my hang over was not from Hangar! Some of my favorite stuff was on sale when I visited, like Starbucks S'more's flavor, which was 2/$5.00 (Wal-Mart $3.49 each, CVS $3.99 each). I should have bought more. Yesterday I got some white crab Kimchi poke and when I started eating it at home, squeezing out the flesh onto a bowl of rice, a big fat nasty looking fly come out. It's so gross. I really like this Foodland in Ewa because it's in a very convenient location. The store is pretty clean, aisles are large enough and easy to find what your looking for, there's a deli with great selections to choose from, great poke selections, fresh fruits and veggies and the basic things you find in most grocery stores. BUT.....they also have delicious hot steak plates, so much types of alcohol to choose from, cup cakes, cup cakes, cup cakes so many different cup cakes and you can order your choice of cup cakes if you have a specific type in mind, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is connected (which I love) and the smiles. Foodland Ewa poke, specifically the spicy ahi, has been very low quality and inconsistent the past couple times. Sometimes it tasted regular, and sometimes it tasted hard and meaty. Recently, (friday 10/12) we got it and it and tasted/smelt too fishy and right after consuming it, our stomachs were sore. I understand its poke but this one tasted way too fishy. Is it Friday yet? So located in a strip mall, parking gets difficult but after a few dozen passes you'll get a spot. That's what it always seems like to me. But it's worth it to get inside. Especially on Fridays. You'll have to read the whole review to find out why. I do like this place because you can earn Hawaiian miles with your purchases or free goodies. And like all major markets there's a variety of baked goods. In my opinion, not bad. So far everything I've gotten baked there has been moist, crunch, or not dry that I need to buy some milk or grab coffee from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. Read that review right? Moving forward prices are reasonable and they have pretty much what you need to make dinner. I was checking out at the register, and about to process payment. The cashier received a phone call. I could hear her end of the conversation, which was in regards to something totally unrelated to working at foodland. She was discussing airsoft with someone on the other end of the line, talking about how she has xyz and she will bring xyz. She was talking to whoever it was all flirtatiously. Anyway, I assumed something was wrong the the payment machine because I had to run my payment 3 times and it kept disappearing. I think it timed out... that's how long this conversation she was having went on. She wasn't saying anything, so I thought it was a problem on my end.
