I've lived in Ewa Beach most of my life and have always enjoyed shopping at Safeway Ewa Beach. The parking lot is spacious, and the store has a great selection of groceries. Their poke is delicious, the deli is always well-stocked, and the in-store Starbucks is convenient. What really sets this location apart is the customer service--it's consistently better than the Kapolei location. The store is clean, easy to shop in, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Bought 3 fresh fruit cups. Opened one, grabbed the first piece of fruit on top, and it had the dental impression of a Safeway employee in it. If not an employee , then a random customer who opened the unsealed packaging, sampled it, and put it back. This is how various diseases and viruses are spread. Lately I've noticed the "fresh" fruit in smaller containers is not so fresh anymore. They use to be solid firm pieces of fruit that snapped when you bit into them. Now every piece is softer, a little darker from oxidizing and not as crisp no matter what time of day you buy it. I suspect they're recycling the unsold fruit from larger platters into smaller containers and reselling them the next day. I also suspect this is when someone decided to help themselves because the bite was so fresh there were still teeth marks still on it. This is by far the most disgusting thing I have ever experienced at Safeway. I will NEVER buy anything from this store that could have been handled by employees. NO bakery, no Deli, no produce, no meat department. ANYTHING that is not sealed and pre-packaged by the manufacturer - may be tainted. Don't risk it!! Safeway had a Memorial Day "sale" for 12 packs of canned soda. It was buy 2 get 3 free! Wow what a deal right? I kept looking for the price of how much one 12 pack was and it wasn't posted anywhere. I saw a sign for Monster Energy drinks that said it was $8:99 so I assumed it couldn't have been more than that. So yeah what a great deal, ha!!! I went to the register and when they were rung up the 12 pack of soda was $15.99. The sale wasn't even a sale. What a joke, nice try Safeway. I originally stopped by this Safeway to wash my hands & use the restroom after finishing a job at a near by bank in this Ewa Beach shopping complex, but while I was walking out of the Ewa Beach Safeway, low & behold I see this chicken wing "self serve" station in the hot food deli department so I promptly made a detour to this wing station to check it out. As I was looking for a container or bag to pick up some wings, just so happens a deli clerk comes out and dumps a whole new batch of Mango Habanero wings into the "self serve" wing station. Bing! Bing! Bing! Now, how can I NOT resist getting some wings from Safeway??? Sure enough, I find a bag where I could load up my Mango Habanero wings, and I promptly went to the self check out register, paid for my wings in hard cold cash, then went straight to my car & destroyed those wings in seconds! Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm! After finishing those deeeeeeeeeeeeeelicous Mango Habanero wings, I had to watch out while driving back into town, as those wings put me in a comatose state! Lol! This particular Safeway is located in the Ewa Beach neighorhood, as this supermarket is in the Laulani Village Shopping Center. It's easy to find, and there is lots of free parking here, as the Safeway is located in a major open air strip mall. The store operates 24 hours of the day, so you can get your fix anytime you like! Next time that I work in Ewa Beach, I'm certainly coming back here to the hot foods deli dept. to spy on those wings again! Ummmmmmmmmmmmm. read more

We looked at the many options in the plaza and selected the 2 item combo with chicken wings for $10 each. JR was awesome as he made sure we got some fresh delicious salt and vinegar chicken wings. 6 pieces come with the combo. I selected the coleslaw and namasu while my wife selected the namasu and papaya salad. We were happy with our meal and the affordability compared to the restaurants near it that we would've spent over double plus I'd have to tip. Yup, we ate well for the money spent. This Safeway is huge, clean and bright. I like how everything is spaced out and they have a lot of ready to eat foods. I don't cook often, so ready to eat sections are important to me. They had bentos, sushi, salad and wings. The wings section were full and looked yummy. The wings are always sold out in town at the Safeway that I always go to. The poke department also looked very good. I got some clams and tako. They were both delicious. I wish I lived closer to this Safeway. I would come to this location more often. read more

I can't tell you how many times that I've found food 1-4 weeks past the expiration date!! My adult son just came back with some groceries and 3 items were 2 weeks past their expiration date It's so frustrating and gross I try to check all items now but it's slow going since there's no universal place to find the date; not to mention I m in my mid 60s so my eye sight isn't what it used to be The people who work there are always friendly but dept mngrs need to do a better job of getting rid of expired items read more

Only redeeming qualities about this store are the select few cashiers who far outshine the employees who appear to be illiterate and apathetic to the real issues at hand. If you want sale items, hit the Waikele store as they always seem to have the sale products. It's just pathetic to have to drive to the next town over because current town has such a mismanaged store. read more

I love my local Safeway. It is my go to for grocery shopping when I am not buying in bulk. Most of the time they have exactly what you want, which can be difficult at times on island depending what you are looking for. They have a decent sized floral section if you are looking for flowers for a special occasion or not occasion at all. I have ordered food from the deli for a get together and they had the food ordered waiting for us when we arrived. All of the staff I have interacted with are great, friendly, and helpful. Ensure to sign-up for their rewards program so that you can put in your phone number and get rewards. You can use the rewards for money off your groceries or $.10 off a gallon of gas for each $100 you spend. Note: the rewards do expire to ensure to keep track of that. read more

$5 Friday AD had a dozen doughnuts or a dozen bagels for Friday $5 sale. Got there, bagged a dozen of each and got to register when the cashier said the weekly advertisement was an error and they are NOT $5 a dozen, but $1 each. Most retailers would honor the advertised price as well as shelf label regardless of error! Safeway didnt not. Wasted trip. Foodland it is! Safeway on Piikoi street is so much better than Kapahulu! Cleaner, the staff are much more friendly and professional the display of products are great. Great selection of dead beef, chicken, and pork. Ample poke and some seafood the frozen stuff they have a lot of. I don't buy my fresh seafood here I go Tamashiro's or elsewhere. Middle aisle stuff is plentiful and typical selection. It's very convenient and parking in the shade. read more

This was actually my first time shopping at the Ewa Beach Safeway. I was in the area so i decided to go there. My experience shopping there was great until checking out. I had clipped a coupon for a product to purchase prior to checking out. But when i was checking out at the self checkout area the system was not ringing in the coupon price. I asked the self check out attendant (i did not get her name) but she kept saying it was online price only. I did not see "only online" on the coupon. In the details, it said IN STORE and ONLINE coupon. She kept saying, "only online", basically cutting me off and not wanting to look at the coupon on my phone. I knew she was busy but she could have called someone else to have a look and help me instead of cutting me off with attitude. I am a super kind and patient person and I respect my elders. However she did not need to cut me off. I ended up going back to the aisle where i got my item to reread if the displaying coupon they had in the store stated "online only". It did not. As i turned around, another employee (her name is Sherissa) was behind me. I had to get a second opinion. I told her what happen and she said, "you are correct", and that she would help me out herself. She had to manually input the coupon price herself. It was a super quick process. I was so thankful because she actually listened to me and tried to see what was going on. She basically made the situation so much better with her great customer service skills. 25 November 2020 It NEVA fails! There is always/always a need for a last minute item before a big holiday! I'm sure most people will attest to this. Safeway was where I went to grab my last minute item. Safeway is always/always full, even on "regular", non-holiday days and today was no different. The parking lot is always a dead giveaway with a lot of cars. From the moment I walked up, I noticed all the cars in the parking lot. At the entryway, there is an employee sanitizing carts and another ensuring only sanitized carts are put back in the assembly line. I'm not sure that Safeway limits the number of customers inside at a given time. I did not notice any employees keeping track of how may people enter or exit. They do require face masks to be worn but, I don't know how that is enforced because again, no one is observing who enters. They do have hand sanitizer at the entrance though. Inside, there were customers in every aisle looking for their last minute items, some definitely not practicing physical socal distancing. It was not excessively packed but, it was more people at one time than on a "regular". Some aisles were impassable due to the amount of people in that aisle. I think people were more focused on getting what they came for and getting out. In Safeway, there are directional arrows on the ground indicating one-way traffic (part of the covid precautions). However, if someone is not paying attention, they could easily miss the arrows. Also, in this instance, there were so many people in the aisles, that the arrows were covered. I simply went to another aisle to get to where I was going. Surprisingly, majority of the shelves were still stocked with items (I really only noticed for the aisles I went to) and the floors are shiny clean. That is one thing Safeway does really well - cleanliness! Of course, we all know that Safeway is a secondary, sometimes last resort option because of their pricyness (at least for me it is). I'm not balling by any means! In any case, I was able to use the only available self-checkout register. All other self-checkout were being used. It was fairly quick though. The regular cashiers had a longer wait as their lines had a few people each waiting to check out. If you do visit Safeway, do so before a holiday or risk waiting in long lines. read more

This Safeway is nice and usually have anything you need. It has a deli that serves fresh items, buffet style food, and fresh or grab and go sushi. (PRO TIP: The grab and go sushi is marked down in price after lunch or dinner times are over.) They have a great floral department, a nice deli, a liquor department, and a Starbucks indoor. The groceries tend to be expensive but it is a place for convenience. Food/flowers/liquor all can be delivered. I would give five s but it's expensive and they're out of things sometimes. read more

This review is just for the bakery. Thank you for always having the bakery nicely stocked and clean. My kids want pastries every week and so we generally come here to grab muffins, bagels and donuts. This is just a note, the last box of 6 donuts we picked up were all cinnamon twists, and they were beautifully hand twisted and the perfect size to fit a half dozen box comfortably. My only complaint here was that the donuts were over-proofed this time around and therefore absorbed a lot of the oil. I can vouch for this Safeway bakery that this is not a common occurrence being that we buy on a weekly basis. I understand that it can't just be thrown away because of the need to fill the case, but just a note. Maybe dairy will allow you to roll the racks into the cold case if there is a time gap between proofing and frying. It'll slow down that proofing process time and therefore giving more ample fry time. We don't know the staff by name, but we do know the ones we interact with are always the sweetest! I just moved to the west side and I'm happy to have Safeway close by. I went for the first time this past week and the Safeway is super clean and organized. The employees were helpful and friendly. Also, I like that they have lots of parking and other shops and restaurants in the shopping center. I was glad to see that they had lots of fresh food options--and Starbucks!! read more

Will follow up with customer service Lesson learned!!! This was my first time ordering Roses and bouquets via online order thru Safeway. Thinking it was best to avoid the crowd. Usually every year I buy Roses for Mother's Day gifts from local competitive grocery store. This year I decided to buy at Safeway because I had other things ordered. One stop shop. Boy was I super disappointed. When I picked up my Bouquet of Roses, mind you I bought 8 total and they were bad. It looks like rejects that no one wanted. They looked old. As I carefully opened the bouquet, Roses were molding, and assorted flowers wilting. It was so sad to say the least. I had to go in the store to buy fresher flowers. You get better luck that way because at least you get to pick the best one. Never again buying online from Safeway. Going back to my usual grocery store. First time at this Safeway on the west side. I had to run in for one thing, but found myself wandering around the store looking at all the pretty decor and flower displays. I was impressed to see how clean, nicely stocked, and organized this store was. They are conveniently located next to City Mill. I ran in after my Starbucks run which is in the same shopping center. Staff were friendly and helpful and I found exactly what I was looking for. Self-check out was also a breeze. I usually shop at the commissary, but I will definitely come back for my shopping needs! I definitely like this location. This location seems bigger than the one in Aiea. Hubby and I were in the neighborhood since I wanted to go to Ross. It's inside the same shopping center. So much to choose from. I ended up getting a bag of oranges that was $9.99 and a some blueberries. I love fruit and they have such a huge variety of fresh fruit. The store was clean and we went early so there were hardly anyone in the store. There are clean carts and the returns go to the unsanitary side. Signs clearly state which carts are clean. It's nice to know that they sanitize their carts. Plenty of parking up front. I would definitely come back again if we are in the area. Very clean and organized store. read more

Although coupons were clipped properly, system did not show my discounted price. Asked for self service attendant's assistance, she said to just go ahead and click finish and pay. I paid full price. Had to come back into the store went to customer service counter, received the same type of attitude. I was drilled with questions: did you enter your phone number? Did you just clip the coupon after you purchased it? I had many coupon items on my receipt that were accepted to prove that all my coupons were clipped early on. Do you ever find yourself wandering the grocery store, list in hand only to come home realize you forgot most things on your list, but you have enough junk food to feed a small army? Those of you saying to yourself "no," trust me, I know I'm not alone.... My work schedule recently changed and I found myself valuing any and all free time I have and wanting to spend as little of it as possible with menial tasks like grocery shopping, laundry and cleaning. Although not the closest Safeway to my house, the Keanui Drive location is the closest location to me that offers the Drive and Go (DAG) service. Simply place your order online, indicate which items cannot be substituted, and viola your order will be ready at your chosen timeframe. Best part about the service? You save time wandering the aisles and making impulse purchases. The DAG service is free, and you're able to redeem rewards, etc. using the service. With the exception of one issue, all my DAG experiences have been great, with the shoppers picking fresh produce and making appropriate substitutions when necessary. This Safeway also carries a larger selection of pre-cut fruits making healthy snacking way easier. While I can't say I'm using DAG due to COVID concerns, this is also a great option for folks concerned about going into stores, but who don't want to pay for delivery services. read more

Be careful when purchasing ebay gift cards. Selling fraudulent - used cards. My gift card was missing 3/13 required redemption numbers and when I went back to the store I was told the gift card had already been used (they called the seller they get the gift cards from) and was advised to reach out to ebay. Ebay advised they can't do anything and my only option left is that I have to file a police report. Out $$ and no resolution. read more

SUSHI REVIEW ATTENTION ALL SUSHI LOVERS. THIS Safeway's sushi is SO GOOD. *This is a public service announcement* if you're looking for a good fresh sushi that is grab and go with a wide variety of options then you should come here. It's not that I have been to all Safeway sushi sections on the island but I would say of the ones I've been to this has the best options. I was most excited today because they had a spicy roll that had fresh sliced jalapeños on top! I also got a roll that was really healthy, it had the California roll base with carrots wrapped in lettuce and rice paper. AND I really delicious and pretty roll that had a little chunks of chopped fresh salmon on top. I forgot to write the name of it down but I have a picture with this review. I also took pictures of everything they had just so you can see the range of options they have. They poke balls also look really good too. (you may need to come by noon because later in the day there are less and less options). To be honest I've gotten sushi here anytime of the day. Evening included. However if you want the most options and the freshest options come and get this for your lunch. read more
