Felt like the staff was being rude when I asked a question until another coworker kindly responded. I grew up coming to this store. When we came to Kane'ohe to visit the graveyards, we wanted to pick up fresh flowers to take with us. They had a good variety but I really had to pick through to find decent looking ones. Even another customer shopping for the same noticed the quality wasn't great. Many of the bunches had mold growing on the stems and some of the flowers were falling off. My hubby got lucky at least and found his favorite snack, kulolo, which only gets delivered on Thursdays. read more

I like this Foodland location. The staff is so willing to help locate items and the cashiers are always friendly. The staff in the poke bar are nice and will make recommendations on the various poke selections. I make it a point to stop here for poke, salt and vinegar chicken wings when I need a quick potluck pick up. My friends' most recent fav is their crispy chicken wings - it's a wonderful guilty pleasure. So worth it! I don't need to have a fancy Foodland when I have this location as my go to market. read more

I was in da Kaneohe neighborhood visiting my dentist today, and upon finishing up my appointment, I decided to head on over to Windward City Shopping Center to check out one of my FAVORITE local plate lunch joint. Unfortunately for me, da plate lunch place I wen' check out wen' run out of what I was looking for (insert Sad Panda face) so I made a quick detour to Foodland instead, to spy on da Frrrrrrried Chicken. Upon walking into Foodland, you gotta past da Bakery before getting to the Hot Foods/Deli section, and of course, I got sidetracked again when I saw those Pistachio Muffins Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! So tempting, but since I didn't finish eating da last batch of Pistachio Muffins I bought last week Thursday, I figah I better cool it wid' da Pistachio Muffins. Lol! Now going back to da Frrrrrrried Chicken, well, I didn't get that either, because I remembered yesterday's massive Garlic Chicken Plate I had pounded from Hawaiian BBQ House, so guilt set in about getting more Frrrrrrried Chicken. At da end of da day, no can go wrong with Foodland's poke, and a Spicy Ahi poke bowl was my meal of choice. For you folks who are poke fans, Foodland sure does a great job, and they offer many types of poke, too. The store at Windward City Shopping Center has seen better dayz, but as old looking as the store is, it is well organized and clean. Service at Foodland is great, as the cashiers are friendly. I went to this foodland to get some poke. When I got to the poke bar section I greeted the lady with "hi aunty" before ordering. She then rudely asks "are we related" and I responded "no" and was caught a bit off guard. She then says "well it's this then" and proceeds to point at her name tag that was on her hat. The worker was named Robyn. As someone born and raised in Hawaii, I have never met anyone get so offended to such a normal term used in Hawaii for our elders (Side note also used for respect). It ruined the experience for me as I was just going along my day until that happened. Train your workers to do better and have more aloha towards locals. We got a few poke to try, marinated crab, wonton chips, and a few dessert and drink items to compliment our meal. I enjoyed going up and down the aisles to see what they have since everything seems so different to me as a California native. As we were about to check out, we accidentally dropped the marinated crab that we got and the store clerks were quick to clean up our mishap and get a replacement for us. We decided to hunker down at a nearby beach to setup camp and eat. My favorite of the poke we got was the creamy based one and it tasted great with the wonton chips we got. The pink and white Mochi dessert we got reminded me of a Filipino dessert called espasol, so that hit home for me in my childhood memory bank. read more

This Foodland location is a local go to for me since I live close to this location. It's an older Foodland and it's not a Foodland Farms type. But even though the store is old and looks old inside, it's clean and organized. The staff is friendly and helpful. The poke they sell at this location is very delicious as well. read more

If anyone ever speaks to a manager at this location named "Todd", please run the other way and talk to a different manager (or better yet even an employee). I love going this location as the services are good but this so called "manager" changed my perspective. I spoke to Todd over the phone last week for assistance and he basically treated me like garbage and felt as if I didn't matter as a customer. He was very rude, lazy and had absolute no patience with me. Does Foodland actually hire incompetent managers? Is this how managers like Todd represent Foodland? it's preposterous and embarrassing! A few days after, I then called again to give Foodland another chance and spoke to an employee (not a manager) named "Michael". Michael is a Hero and a completed contrast to Todd! He wanted to make things right by performing one of the best customer services I've received in awhile! Based on this situation, it almost feels that these roles should be reversed and have Michael as an manager because he cares about the customer and willing to help. I really hope that he gets the recognition he deserves! Todd needs more training in customer service and almost lost me as a customer. If he treated me the way he did, I can't imagine how he treated other customers in the past. read more

We heard from several locals that Foodland grocery stores are where the locals go to get their poke. Upon arriving here and finding 10 people in line at the poke counter, I believe they were right. There was a large selection of poke and you can get two for a poke bowl. We got a Poke Bowl with Poke Spicy Maui Onion Ahi & Poke Ahi Oyster Sauce. While I can't say this was the best poke we had in Hawaii, it was some damn good poke. And you can't beat the price. We got a huge poke bowl for $10 which is less than half the price you'll pay at any restaurant. Foodland is a must try for poke in my opinion! read more

The poke is always good. The bento options for it are cheap for fish too. The redfish poke bar in SALT is foodland owned, but redfish offers much more customization options like salad bowls instead of rice and toppings. The "kara-oke" karaage chicken has a strong ginger flavor, but it's also pretty heavy on the oil, so I don't recommend it more often than once a month. It is a grocery store, so food isn't the focus, but it does have good take home options if you don't want to spend sit down prices. Evenings are a good time to go as after about 6, the reduced priced hot items get stickered. Prices are usually halved, and reduced breads and baked goods will usually keep a week longer if put into the fridge. read more

This review is for the Foodland Poke! I've been on island for 3 months and tried a bunch of food and the Maui Onion Poke bowl from my local Foodland is THE BEST thing yet. I eat it every week and it's hard not to eat it every day. You can get just the poke, 1/2lb or more, in a variety of flavors and styles. Or get a poke bowl so it comes with rice underneath and they can add a seaweed topping and some special sauce - the name escapes me. Affordable at $6-$7, filling enough with the rice, and DELICIOUS you feel like a local. Oh man I'm gonna go get some now. read more

ONE STAR for the deli: the clerk was so cocky today when I tried buying just 3 pieces of salt and vinegar chicken. I can buy as much or as little as I like, ok? And stop throwing the chicken in the bag! TWO STARS: for produce because sometimes when I Go the area is mostly empty and not stocked. And sometimes the Japanese cucumbers are not fresh. If you really want fresh produce, go the the local farmers market! I don't usually buy meat because I too lazy too cook, but when I do, I can't believe my eyes how expensive the meat is and sometimes I can't find certain kind meat, whether it be ground pork or beef. ‍ Go to the referigerated section, sometimes eye yoplait yogurt is wiped out, but always get egg. Not all poke is the same. (Duh.....I know, but really, people don't get it) So much hype over poke. But when I started getting poke bowls, more years ago than we care to disclose, I got my poke from Foodland in Hawaii Kai (which is long gone *crying*) and I've been on a search to find poke that was as good. And I think I have found it. I shouldn't be surprised that it's at a Foodland. But with all the places now to get poke, I didn't think I would find it here again. We have been enjoying the great service, generous servings, and super fresh and tasty ahi and tako. Sometimes I get a pound of poi from the chiller next to it and eat my poke on that instead of rice (IYKYK) This is not a Foodland farms. Which is ok. The produce is good and I haven't left the store without finding something I was going in for, and usually I leave with more, which is a compliment to the establishment. The place could stand an update but not if it stops the poke from being sold. I love that this Foodland is so close and so good in the local-ness. The spicy edamame is so good. It's marinated in soy sauce, garlic and chili. I couldn't stop eating it and went to a different Foodland to get more but it didn't taste as good as this location. They also have the cutest thermal bags to store hot and cold foods. It's squared off on the top and zips up so you can store more. Scored two for $7. A must when you're visiting Hawaii and packing food and drinks on your beach trips. read more

Came here on March 9th around 12ish pm after we hiked two trails. I've never been to Foodland before but my friend who was showing me around my first Hawaii trip said she enjoyed their poke over other spots. This is our third time grabbing poke in 24 hours. Each time we grab 2-4 flavors for a group of 6 people to share. We went to the poke section after grabbing some snacks and drinks, there were three workers behind the counter. We asked the taller lady if we're able to sample and she said yes. We asked which one she recommended and she said all, so we sampled two first, the fresh Hawaii style ahi and the wasabi salmon. We got a half pound of wasabi salmon. My bf then went around and got a half pound of spicy tako. Around that time the taller lady who was helping me ask if I needed anything else, I said no. Then my boyfriend comes back and asks to sample two different ahi and this time a guy was helping us. Behind the guy is the taller lady giving the ugliest stink face - dogging us and she says, "they're stealing." I then told my boyfriend and other friend that I no longer wanted to be helped by them because the girl in the back is being incredibly unfriendly. My boyfriend still wanted to grab two more half pounds of other flavors and I said no. We'll go somewhere else. In total, my boyfriend and friend got 5 samples and we were ready to leave with 4 flavors. So we paid for our groceries and went to Foodland farms inside the mall on the other side of the island and we experienced greater customer service. read more

Despite needing a serious makeover, this Foodland is awesome. First of all, Foodland, as a company, is awesome. It's locally owned and operated, and you see the difference by the products they sell. Lots of local, Made in Hawaii products, and when you walk into a Foodland, you just know you're in Hawaii. Foodland also has a great program called "Shop for Better Education", which is a scholarship program that helps a lot of Hawaii's keiki go to college. And don't forget about the Makai Rewards Program, that rewards frequent customers with free or discounted products, and instant savings at every visit. As for this particular Foodland location, what I love about it is the people. The cashiers are very friendly and always provide great customer service with a smile. And very often we are greeted at the checkout by the store manager, who always tries to get a smile out of our sons. Support local business by shopping at Foodland! read more

After accumulating 250 points, get a Maika'i check, redeemable for special items or Hawaiian Airlines Miles! I usually wait until it's Double Miles (400 miles instead of 200 miles! ) and redeem at that time. When you bring a reusable bag, you can get either 3 cents credit or get 3 Hawaiian Airlines miles! My friend and I had finished a hike and we got back to her house and we were starving! I was thinking, let's have poke and I immediately asked where the closest Foodland was, because I just wanted decent, fresh poke that was reasonable and quick. Foodland seems to offer exactly that, consistently at all the locations I have visited and this one was no surprise. She said this one was the closest, so I left her with the kids and I dashed here. It was a super short visit, but I got exactly what I wanted and how I expected it. I do find that every location offers the same, main flavors, but I have noticed now that each location seems to offer one or two unique flavors to that location. Parking - it's in a shopping center and ample parking What we ate - My friend got the Spicy Ahi Poke which was delish, as usual. As I was standing in line to order, I noticed the guy before me took a bento box that had just been placed on the small side table in front of the glass fridge with all the poke. I noticed that he handed the box over to the clerk, she opened it and then stuffed some poke. I then noticed a sign and it said, pick a bento box, pick a poke ($12.99 and under) and all for $7.99. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! That is the best deal ever! The bento box has a generous piece of breast meat freshly fried chicken, rice and furikake and then they stuff the poke *under $12.99/lb of your choice (of course, I wanted scallops at $13.99, so I asked for Garlic Shrimp with the box and got a separate container of scallops. My bento box was fresh and delish and still can't believe I got all that for $7.99 for the box! Also, the scallops were awesome. This location made it in a sweet and sour sauce. Service - the clerk was polite and quick at both the poke department and the cash. The clerks at the cash who were working the cash and bagging the items were super sweet to the lady before me. They were fast with my transaction. Overall, with the speed at which I navigated the store, I thought it to be clean and nothing out of the ordinary! This review is for the deli, and meant to help this location improve. I live on the east side of Honolulu so my normal Foodland include the fancy Kahala one as well as the Aina Haina store. Normally I get my deli sandwiches at the Aina Haina store and they are awesome made quickly they give you options as far as cheese and things like which mustard, and sprouts. The experience I just had at Kaneohe yesterday was bizarre, slow impolite and the resulting sandwich was absolutely terrible. Didn't get any options as far as vegetables or mustard/mayo which they included small packets on the side. They folded large pieces of turkey in very awkward ways so when I opened up the saran wrap and tried to eat the sandwich half of the turkey literally plopped out on the plate. They put huge chunks of raw onion and when they were making the sandwich they would just disappear behind a wall. I ordered whole grain or wheat bread it came on white bread. Throughout the experience it was clear that one person was training another! The salads behind the counter looked clearly old, not fresh, with a lot of overspill between containers, terrible, poorly managed. While I love the fact that Foodland is locally owned, and I will continue to support the stores, this is simply unacceptable. Upper management needs to know how bad this deli is, a secret shopper system would reveal all of these problems! read more
