    Moldy raspberries.

The service here is kinda slow at the cashier because there's usually just one cashier lane open sometimes two. I enjoy the low prices here, but don't forget you get what you pay for here. The past two times I picked up New York steaks, I brought it home and it was slimy on the bottom side and on closer inspection was browning from being too old(I should have checked closer at the store, but I feel like these things should be checked daily by staff.) These steaks smelled horrendous. My last trip I did purchase more steaks and inspected better at the store before taking it home and it was fine. Just be cautious about what you grab and you should be fine. On my last trip, I did pick up raspberries too that were moldy. I ate them when I got home and started noticing moldy ones near the bottom of the tray. I threw them away. I will admit I am too lazy to go return these items, so I do not have a comment on what their return policy is like. In summary, the prices are cool, just be cautious about the individual items you grab. My recommendation to management: Inspect the produce and meats daily, and if possible manage the lines a little bit better.

About 25 people in line on Tuesday afternoon and only one cashier. No self checkout. Got to cashier after 20min and finally they got another checker

    Rotten rotisserie chicken

I went to FoodMaxx during my lunch today to pick up a rotisserie chicken. Immediately after getting home I sliced the Rotisserie chicken down the middle to begin shredding it. I was disgusted when I saw what looked like a rotten chicken. The sticker on the lid said it was packaged at 7:09 AM this morning. it really made me question just how fresh their food is. This was not the first time I purchased a rotten chicken, but today I was truly disgusted and decided to contact the store. They did offer to return my money, but I think my concern was more for others who Will eat something like this out of necessity. I truly hope FoodMaxx gets it together because next time someone may decide to it further and report the store for an inspection too.

I'm frustrated that they don't seem to care about the coffee they sell in bulk. Peerless Coffee. They were out of not only the bags to keep the coffee fresh but pretty much there was no coffee to buy.

Now for the options, they all sounded good and were hard to choose from! I like that they have specials of the month, seasonal, and mainstays. I choose one of monthly specials coconut pudding, and mainstay french silk. I also ordered the cheese burger hand pie for my husband, which he loved! The coconut pudding pie was sooo good, loved the texture and flavor, they had toasted coconut on the side to add on top. The fresh silk pie was my favorite! It was not overly chocolatey and had a nice mousse texture, there was an under layer of crisp ganache that made all the flavors and textures pop! The crust is nice and buttery and flakey. These were not heavy pies, just creamy light melt in your mouth. They also have frozen pies so you can take and bake yourself. This definitely satisfied my sweet tooth, and will be back this time to order a whole pie!

Both the sweet and savory pies are delicious, and I like that they rotate their menu with a mix of classic and more unique flavors. It makes it fun to keep coming back and trying something new. Some of my favorites over time have been the chocolate chess, cheeseburger, and berry custard pies. All very different, but all really good in their own way. Would recommend this spot to anyone looking for pie!! There are honestly not a lot of places around that you can get crafted pies from, so I think they fill a niche market here - a market that I am certainly a part of.

When you walk in, youre greeted with a huge display case of their beautiful donuts! I came in for the first time the other day and I was greeted with a warm welcome upon walking inside. (It wasn't busy at the time i went so i got to take my time choosing my donuts). Amber was so sweet, she helped me box up my order and went over the flavors of the donuts i chose before closing the box in front of me. I got the black sesame, churro, matcha hazelnut, chocolate hazelnut, melona and the blueberry cream filled. Let me tell you these donuts are perfect if you dont like anything too sweet. My mom who usually splits one donut over the span of 3-4 days to finish, ate her entire blueberry donut in one sitting without even sharing. They do recommend that you enjoy them asap or to place them in an airtight container so they don't dry out. I did not do so, so my donut dried out (eating a dry but delicious day old donut as i write this). All in all my experience was amazing and I will definitely be coming back to try that guava donut if its there!!! I also recommend checking out and exploring their website. They have a gallery of the donuts they've created and case studies of how they come up with their flavors!

I remembered visiting on their very first grand opening a long time ago before the chain expanded to other locations. Good cashier service and pastries are always fully stocked here. Wide varieties of options to choose from. I stopped by for my regular iced cold Tiger boba latte medium size cup for $4.90. Note: my cup looked very small compared to what I'm used to getting. Did the medium sized cups shrink? The lady probably used the wrong cup size, but I'm having a good morning, so not sweating about it. However, I can easily buy beautiful and delicious slices of cakes for around or under $5 each. No lines and no crowds after 10am on a Thursday morning. Staff was helpful at front counter. The place is still much better than other retail spaces. It's a good feeling inside. I'm glad I was able to make another quick stop here. This 85 Degrees C Bakery is definitely the better place.

Pickup went well and the cake was so cute and it tasted great! Like the Chinese bakery strawberry cream cake with a moist sponge cake; not too sweet, just right. Might sound basic but it was done very well. Would 100% recommend. I don't know prices for cakes nowadays but I didn't feel bad paying about $60 for a cute and tasty cake (6", strawberry cream cake). I wouldn't bank on same day pickups, I might've just been very lucky they were in the middle of making their cakes but it wouldn't hurt to try calling early in the day if you're in a pinch for a solid cake. There was strong scent of matcha coming from the top drip design and we couldn't be more excited for our matcha bae. Fast Forward: The cake is super soft, fluffy, and oh so very light. The cake in itself was not super sweet- very typical of Asian cakes. The matcha flavor was unfortunately too mellow for us. 3 stars for the cake in itself but the rating is bumped up to a 4 because the presentation is so cute! I struggled with this…read morerating because it is a small family-run business, but I also didn't think it was fair to rate them 5 stars based on the quality and how things transpired. I read such amazing reviews about Minia's and was really optimistic about the cakes, especially since they offered more novelty flavors such as guava, mango, and ube that most bakeries don't have. I reached out to order a sample box and was told they provide 6 different flavors for $25, but they offer the cake samples in the form of cupcakes. Setting up the order was fairly easy and they were communicative via email. They also accommodated my request to swap out one flavor for another. When I first received the box, I was astounded by how big the samples were. For $25, I thought it was such a steal. I've been to a few tastings now and they range from a completely free tasting to $50 on the higher end, so I felt like Minia's pricing was pretty fair. To be clear, I don't have an issue paying a fee to sample an assortment of cakes. I understand that putting together these samples take time and money from the business, and free tastings are probably a thing of the past since people seem to take advantage of companies....but I do have an issue paying for cakes that are unpalatable and not worth my calories. It went all downhill after this. Of the 6 samples I received, all of them were dry and some the flavors were not very pronounced. Even my father, who is not a cake connoisseur by any means and doesn't really have a good palate noted that the cakes were dry. We took a couple bites, but ultimately trashed the box and we rendered the cakes inedible (technically, you could still eat them, but it would not be enjoyable). I reached out to Minia's with my comments and was offered a 50% refund and was also told that they've received feedback that the cupcakes can dry. I was taken aback by that comment because in my mind, if you know that the cakes you're providing as samples are a first impression of your business and that there is a known issue with the dryness, wouldn't you remedy that and give out samples that are more reflective of your quality? I was concerned that if I had gone through with this, the actual cake would be terrible and I would be wasting my money. I did ask for a full refund after they only offered half back, and they complied moments after by just sending a receipt with the updated invoice and no further comments.
