Great healthy meals with many dietary options such as paleo, keto, vegan, and/or vegetarian. The folks who run this business are kind and give back to the community. Unlike Factor meals, I don't have to worry about taste or macros (fiber, protein, carbs), as Foodsmith meals are delicious and well balanced. read more

While the food was pretty good, we were very disappointed in the customer service. After initially determining they could deliver to our location and making one delivery, they decided they could not deliver to us. We were told that the roads in our zip code were too dangerous. I absolutely hate leaving bad reviews, and I really wanted to have a good experience with Foodsmith! It's my favorite thing to support small businesses and to encourage people to keep going after their entrepreneurial dreams, but I am so sad to say that my experience so far with foodsmith has been really really terrible. I was recommended to the service by a friend, I'm a busy night shift nurse about to take on a second job, who needs a little support in eating regular healthy meals. I was excited to try this out. I became a member, filled out my order, waited for my delivery to come and it never came. I have called and emailed multiple times without a response from anyone and just feel frustrated more by the lack of communication than anything. I wouldn't be surprised if lack of staff or availability due to COVID was part of the issue, but in my mind that still doesn't excuse not communicating with me after several attempts to get in contact. That plus I paid money for an order and I still haven't received it or heard anything about why it hasn't arrived. I'm disappointed and I really hope Foodsmith sees this and is able to help rectify my situation. read more

If you want paleo, vegan, or keto, it's nice for a month or so but then it all starts to taste the same. I was looking for meals that are for the pre-diabetic, and are low sodium and heart healthy. This definitely is that, but you have to eat paleo to get it. So you're limited to what paleo allows, and trust me, you'll get very very tired of sweet potatoes. And okra. And kale. Plus the meat-to vegetables ratio seemed too heavy on the meat to me. It would be nice to have an option to say "less meat more veggies". Their salads are good, though, definitely loved those. read more

This company used to be much better when they started years ago, but as they have scaled, the food got more bland and the customer service got worse and worse. They made good a few times in the few years I was with them when making mistakes and then making it right with free food or a credit on my account, but multiple times they made mistakes, and because of even more mistakes on their end with billing, (I was being under charged) they made zero effort to right multiple mistakes i pointed out. Add in their inability to either get competent delivery drivers who could find my unit, or to establish a system with photos or better notes describing where to drop off and deliver to, led to me ultimately canceling my service. They even went as far as to charge me extra for not having my bags out when they were out, and it was their driver/delivery persons fault, when the bags were out in the same place they had been for years. When being assertive and purposely not mean or rude, I was accused of "creating an unsafe communication space." Are you kidding me?! I could have yelled and used demeaning language based on the poor quality and consistency of the drivers and the leadership inability to train their drivers but I didn't, and their solution was to refuse to deliver to me anymore. Also, their "vegan" meals should be re-labled as "bean-gan" as they use more beans and legumes than actual vegetables it felt like to me. Ultimately, the failure falls on their management team who will not take ownership of their mistakes and will not attempt anything new to help their own staff. I vote with my dollar daily and will no longer support this once great company. Sad to see their decline after multiple years of supporting them. read more

The food is inconsistent. The label that list the ingredients on the container is not always what's in the meal. Some of the vegetables appeared to be scraps. And a vegan dish called carnitas was sugared apples with red cabbage and black beans. I'd never tasted anything so bad. I assume the non vegan meals could be better. read more

I added Foodsmith deliveries to my meal planning for convenience a couple of years ago, because who has time to cook for the family every day after work anymore. It was great for a while, but problems started happening more and more often, and now I'm thinking of going back to my own weekend meal prep instead. Pros: tasty food on the whole, good variety if you're not ordering every day of the week and every single week. I ordered only a few days a week, and even then, I felt like it was the same dishes after a while. Lots of cauliflower rice and cauliflower mash. Kale. Yams. Zucchini and squash. I do love their salads, though. Cons: no real choice in meals. You get whatever is on the menu for whatever delivery day you order for. Also, it can be tough to tell if the meal you receive is actually a large or a regular because they don't label meal sizes. I order multiple large servings per meal and split it among the kids, and often the amounts between identical meals are wildly inconsistent. I keep wondering about the people who order only one serving of each meal: How would they know what size they actually got? Another con: my orders were delivered incorrectly more times than I'd like. Each time it would add a ton of stress because I'm planning the family's meals around the deliveries, since I have to order a week in advance. Finding out on the morning of the delivery that I am short a meal or was given fewer servings of each meal was very stress-inducing. The bottoms of the compostable containers also get soaked through really easily. Given all of this, plus the recent price increases, I'm looking for other options. read more

I need to eat better, cut down on the burgers and fried food, and Foodsmith is really helping. I'm too lazy to cut up all those veggies, but I'm willing to eat them if they are tasty and have a nice sauce. Foodsmith is able to make dishes that have a lot of healthy components, a light delicious sauce, and a good chunk of meat. I didn't like the dish that had sliced turkey, it was kinda tough, but I have been happy with the chicken and ground meat dishes. I started with Paleo and got lunches, then switched to dinners because sometimes the lunch salads were rather boring (the Devilled Egg salad was incredibly good, I'd get that again for sure). I liked the dishes I baked in the oven, though I added time because the veggies were too crunchy for my tastes. I switched to Paleo Plus but will probably change back to Paleo cuz I'm not a fan of brown rice (it seemed undercooked) and that seems like the main difference. The cuisine is from a lot of exotic places, so you get interesting spices and flavors. The large size meals represent a good value. It did take a while to understand the ordering/delivering process. The order date is the date you placed the order, or the date the order was placed automatically if you have a subscription, it is not the date of delivery. read more

I do not leave reviews often. But my partner and I tried the lunch/dinner meals for three days and we were underwhelmed. I understand they are healthy but healthy does not exclude the possibility of flavor and seasonings. Every single one was bland and unmemorable. If you want healthy and easy- sure thing. Food was okay. Very under salted (obviously an easy to fix). Cancellation was a nightmare. I was told to create a new account online before I could cancel my exiting account (never heard that before!). Just as expected, that did not work. After several cordial phone calls my requests were still ignored -- they simply would not let me cancel! They just kept billing me. I had to file a complaint with my credit card company to finally make it stop, and I was re-reimbursed a small amount of my money by my CC company. read more

At first, we loved it! We've been wanting to try going Vegan. Their meals were all extremely tasty. Good pricing too. The cons, you don't get to pick what you want, they have a set menu weekly. Also, after a while they all tasted the same. (Using same seasoning.) Still good, but the same; and they used an exorbitent amount of garbanzo & beans in each meal. Ended up pushing a lot aside. Another thing is that the vegetables are super cooked and often mushy. Tasty, but, if you like your vegetables al dente, this will get old. We switched to their Paleo. Seasoning and vegetables....the same issue. Tasty & Good but same issue. One other thing, the delivery process is a little iffy sometimes. Delivered to wrong address twice; they deliver at 3am in the morning often times, so it sits out til you bring it in. (It's in an insulated bag but it thaws quicker than liked.) Also, if you live where you'll hear someone drive up....drag. One time when they delivered to wrong address, it sat in the sun for several hours. We had to toss everything. They refunded right away though, so, Customer Service is good. In summary....I would try it until you get tired of the seasoning and vegetable issue because it really it all very tasty. Foodsmith is a fantastic service, and I'm so glad to have discovered it (via an ad on our local TV station). The meals are very fresh and flavorful, and it's reassuring to know how helpful they are. I do a combination of Paleo and vegan, so I intersperse veg and meat meals during the day. The delivery is extremely reliable, and customer service easy to reach and friendly. It's made life much easier, not having to cook and shop so much (or clean up from cooking!), and it's a great portion control system. The containers are also compostable, so it's reassuring knowing it doesn't add to plastic pollution. (Even though our yard waste bin doesn't take compostable packaging, it's good know it won't take eons to break down, like plastic.) And the food is delivered in a reusable bag, which you return for the next delivery, that keeps it cold. read more

I was really excited about foodsmith, the food is great and they're local. The reason why I give it 4 stars is that it's impossible to speak with anyone via phone, it all has to be done via email. I still don't know what to do with the cooling bag the food was delivered in. Also it's unfortunate that you don't know what food you are getting until the menu is released which is after you've ordered. I hope this business does well unfortunately the lack of being able to choose my meals along with the difficulty and over reliance of their website and communicating via email is enough for me not to not renew my subscription. read more

I've just finished my third week (2 days of lunch and dinner for two people). My first week a mistake was made which was promptly corrected by delivering missing meals the very next morning. I am really enjoying these meals -- tasty and quite a variety of flavors and preparations. Really very enjoyable and I'm eating more vegetables and feeling healthier too! I hesitated to start this because it seemed a little expensive but then when I really thought about it and figured in all the time I spend food shopping, cooking and cleaning I realized that maybe it wasn't as costly as I had first thought. Having tasty, healthy meals on hand has taken one thing off of my plate (so to speak) and has certainly lightened my load which is something I hadn't factored in. Supporting a local business and the fact that they buy from local farms is also a plus to me. So -- I am very please and will continue with this service. Do not order from Foodsmith. They do not refrigerate your food or put cold packs in your bag. They will leave it in your neighbors yard or in a random part of your property. You can't find the food and it sits in the heat all day and you have to throw it away. This has happened on multiple occasions with no refunds given for no food delivered that is edible. They also do not notify you food was even delivered, so you will not know to go looking for it around your neighborhood. read more

Fantastic. I've bought from them several times, and actually am going to order birthday dinner for my husband from them this week! The organic quality they are providing at an amazingly affordable price, and truly healthy options such as grain-free or gluten-free and all low fat...outstanding and utterly incredible, in my book!! Four delicious organic main dishes for around $20?? Unheard of! There have been a few mix-ups on the labels (such as a different vegetable or grain than the one in the package), or missing labels for how to re-heat, but a wise food writer said to never judge a food business when it is just getting started...and I haven't bought any for a while, so hopefully they are getting that together. I'm thrilled to see the website now has thorough ingredient lists, so I think there was a huge learning curve in the beginning while they attempted to do everything at once. I bought these obsessively when I first discovered them (from the food trucks), but am no longer much in the food truck part of town. Was too busy this week to cook & remembered I had a couple in the freezer. Yum! I'm hooked again...this time will order online & pick up nearby. I'm actually excited at this option for a birthday celebration rather than spending 4x-8x that much at a restaurant. Don't recall how I found this great business, but I hope they thrive--it's amazing what they are doing; trying to make eating healthfully not just easy but affordable. I cannot say enough good things about this service - as a full-time working mother of two small children, it has saved my life!!!! We order from Foodsmith once a week and conveniently pick it up the next day at Junebugs gym in Pleasure Point (there are pick-up locations all over town). I throw most of the items in the freezer, defrosting the night before as needed. I also always get a few fresh items to use over the next few days. Their salads and wraps are really good, too. My husband takes a lunch to work and he loves them! This saves me from always having to worry what he can take (there are no restaurants anywhere near his place of work) and we both love the good quality and healthy option and of course the affordability. Foodsmith is way cheaper than getting something at the hot food bar at Whole Foods or going to a restaurant for lunch! We also sometimes have Foodsmith for dinner if I haven't gotten "my act together" in time after work to cook for the family. After a long day, it's really nice to know you are feeding your family healthy food without any prep time! All meals are super healthy and not high in calories. They try to sneak some veggies in there, so for example the enchiladas have some kale in them. Using Foodsmith and a nutrionial shake system (Isagenix) over the last 3 months, I have lost 15 pounds and really reduced my stress level trying to always provide a healthy meal for my family, eat healthy and avoid processed foods. The customer service at Foodsmith is great, too, they are a local company with "real" people that really care about what they do and will go out of their way to make you happy. I was actually their first customer when they opened! :) I can highly recommend it and really urge you to try it out! read more

i have hadnothing but problems trying to get the food delivered to my door and at the time they say. Today i was told it was delivered at 4:40 am and was not i sent an email at about 11am asking for a refund. then guess what the delivery shows up at 1:20pm i have a video ring door bell which gives times and dates of everything and everyone coming and going through my door. it was not delivered as they stated and trying to cover delivery they try and sneak it in before i get home i don't like a business who plays games like this read more
