stopped by to try some wine. the server was knowledgeable and awesome. I tried the PinoT which was good but then pivoted to beer. but the 5 stars is because I ordered the beet cauliflower salad. OMG. that salad is legit. you've got to live when the shed is firing a stainless steel bowl with a "crack" torch. best salad I've had in at least 2 years--AND I'm NOT a vegetarian! Went with my girlfriend for an impromptu date night. It took them ~15 minutes to take two orders ahead of ours. While we ordered the server stopped us to yell at his friend loading a plant into a car like he was a street vendor selling hotdogs in lower manhattan. We got a glass of white wine, a beer and a cheese plate: $70. The ingredients to make the cheese plate probably cost $5. The cheese plate includes a few slices of two kinds of salami, two small triangles of cheese, a quarter of a small baguette, some pickled veggies, and four olives. The lowest automatic option for tip on the card reader is 20%. I came away feeling like the place is setup to be a ripoff. If you want to think of yourself as classy, aren't hungry, and/or don't mind parting with your money, this is the perfect place for you. read more

Formerly a cafe, new life as a wine bar- Fool's Errand is a welcome addition to the Divis corridor. Also it has the only public parklet you can drink on and simply put, that's already enough for me. We've ordered the cheese boards before, but I normally don't like to waste my time with food here and prefer to just split a bottle of wine. Always go bottle of wine unless you're only having a glass each (just more economical and hey, enjoy yourself). I've went bubbly, white, and red- all have been superb. I normally describe what I'm looking for and the bartenders here haven't been wrong yet. Good place for both a date or catching up with friends. Gets a /little/ crowded on the weekend, but makes a really great weekday spot. read more

The ambiance is intimate--dim and woody--with lots of barstool seating, shared high tables in the front, and two four-tops in the back. If I were in the dating scene, it's not where I'd bring a first date, since we'd likely be rubbing elbows with several other patrons. But drinks with friends, coworkers, or a SO would be fun. Happy Hour is the way to go if you're available earlier. Otherwise, drinks start at $7. The cheapest red as of 01/16/2019 was $10, so yeah, typical, inflated SF prices. I read the hype on Eater, this place sounded cliche - local beers, cozy feeling blah blah blah. 4 months pass and out of sight, out of mind. I came here because they had the 38 Mile Alvarado Street / Sante Adarius collaboration bit stayed for more. This is a great date spot - amazing beer in a venue your female friend will enjoy. Limited but focused menu (cheese, charcuterie and fish in tins), music level that everyone can appreciate and dimly lit interior. The owner is doing something good - Cellamaker's tap takeovers are rare and coveted but this place managed to do it. Alvarado cans with Cellarmaker taps? Yes please! read more

I'm not really a huge wine drinker, and I don't really frequent wine bars much. However, I ended up at Fool's Errand with a friend on a Sunday after becoming bored in Alamo Square Park and I had a super chill time here. On a Sunday afternoon around 3pm, there was a steady amount of people around but there was still plenty of space for seating. Also, no one really sat in the back of the bar because it gets superrrr dark back there - wish they could invest in some nicer lighting for the back. However, the rest of the bar gets nice natural light and there's outside seating. I can't speak for how the bar is in the evening, but hoping the lights get turned up a bit brighter. I tried two rosés here and really enjoyed both. A glass of wine is around $11-$15 here on average. The bartender was super friendly and also knowledgeable about the wines, so definitely ask for recommendations if you're not sure what you want. Anyway, this is a really cool wine bar. The beer and wine list here are second to none! Where in the city can you find CellarMaker on tap? To boot the prices are some of the best in the city for the quality you are getting. What really blew me away is the quality, depth, and incredibly low mark-up on the wine list. Some people might write this place off as just an amazing beer bar, but the wine list is easily one of the best in the city and the mark-up is extremely low. There is not a better place to drink amazing wine in the city. Also John the owner is just an incredible guy who wants to help people find, enjoy, and learn about better wines and beer. read more

I had been to Mojos bicycle bar which had previously been at this location but learned it had recently become Fool's Errand. I love the space and ambiance. It is all open seating. There are a few large high top tables that fit 4-6 people, some additional seating in the back, small bar top right in the window, and then 4-5 small tables outside as well. Came on a Thursday around 6:30 pm to meet some friends and we were able to grab a spot right away. Service was good and friendly. You have to order at bar and then someone even came to check on us to see if we wanted to order food. We went with a cheese plate. It was good cheese, but pretty small portions and a little pricey. The beer was good as well. Good location on Divisadero st and nice ambiance. l will be back if I am in the area. read more

We're right in the hood so visit frequently and love the selection of beers on tap and in bottle -- they always have something like Fieldwork, Cellarmaker, Alvarado, Humble Sea, Rare Barrel-- stuff you don't often see on tap at most bars. They're always mixing it up. Excellent wine selection and friendly bartenders. Snacks are good too. It's a little pricey but that's SF now. read more

It's a nice place, but I've been twice at 9:45 and they're already closing. The curious thing is Google and yelp and THEIR OWN WEBSITE say they close at midnight. So if you go close to 10:00, be sure to research a second option. They close whenever the staff wants to go home. read more

Bartender was super knowledgable about the menu and drink selections. He gave my friend several tastes of the red wines before she selected a glass which was nice. Small but well designed space - it wasn't very crowded when we went but feel like there's a lot of table and seat space for a medium sized crowd. Mix of inside and outside seating which I appreciated. Only down side is that we ordered the burrata which I think was $11 or so. What came out was an absolutely tiny blob of firm mozzarella on tomatoes which was good but tiny and not creamy soft burrata like we were hoping. Think I'd go for a drink next time and skip the food, was pricey, Small, and not quite as advertised. read more

I may not be a "foodie" or an expert wine taster or wine wafter; however, I am all about the vibe and the design of the space. In other words, I am all about spaces and faces. The space feels like a bunker or a cabin on a ship--somewhat dim and tight. Sunlight from the open front door illuminated the space, so I could somewhat see my friend's face. We sat in the very back, where the lighting made me feel like I was chilling in a cowboy saloon (That's the Texan in me or my dad's old Western movies talking). The rectangular tables were inviting and conducive to small groups or couples. The wine was fine. The bartenders let us try samples and made great recommendations. If you have a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon, then bring a friend. Just leave the boots and the spurs at home. read more
