From head to toe, my masseur hits some decent nerves and stimulated nerves from neck to calves. He cracked a few joints from fingers, wrist and a shoulder. I know I'm holding a lot of pain in my shoulders and he rubbed in those areas. On a side note, I'm very regular when it comes to the bathroom - every morning at 5AM. Not sure what nerves he was stimulating, rubbing or pushing, but I immediately had to release some toxins after the run down. I'm very impressed to say the least. My honey and I came into this place after seeing mostly good reviews from Yelpers. We liked the little tent-like structures and the semi-privacy afforded. The foot massages that we got were probably standard issue for Bakersfield. Of course they do more than feet. We asked for Hard massage, and got probably medium. My experience was wonderful. I had a massage by Michelle. I came in with a lot of tension in my shoulders, back and hips. She is very strong and she definitely focused on those areas after getting direction from me before the massage. She was in-tune with my sore spots and found tight muscles where I didn't know I had them. She used consistent firm pressure, and she just had a certain quality about her touch that made me know she knew what she was doing. I suspect she takes pride in her work and aims to give a quality experience to her clients. This place used to be great... but about 1.5 years ago it went down hill. I went in today to give it another shot and it was, by far, the worst massage I have ever had. First of all, I have fundamental issues with a gloved foot massage. Like, let's be real, that does not work. But hang on... it gets worse! At the point she got to the foot portion of the massage and my eyes were covered by the Kleenex they lay on your face, suddenly my massage became one handed and VERY minimal and repetitive. I pulled the cover from my eyes to see that this woman was texting while massaging. And she continued to do so throughout the duration of my foot rub where it was less a rub a more repetitive poking of my toes with her fingernail. The rest of the massage was just as ridiculous. In all, my hour massage was really about 47 minutes (I was watching the clock) with the two extremely long pauses she took to take her bucket back and then to get a wet towel. They must have to use the bathroom at Home Depot because I can't imagine any other reason it should take so long to get water. Upon leaving, I called to tell the front desk girl about the terrible experience, not wanting to complain with the massage girl or being rude, nor making them think I just didn't want to pay. But rather than offer a real means of redeeming this place, the girl offered a hollow apology and said she'd give me a discount if I wanted to come back. No thanks. read more

I got the 60 minute foot massage with the hot stones. Pros: - Hot Stones option - receptionst was friendly - set up is semi private which is nice...when it's actually quiet. Cons: - Terrible masseuse! There was no pressure point application for my massage (as a "foot reflexology" massage would suggest) It was a very pain full massage. After reading other negative reviews I think I had the same male masseuse as others have had. - Not a quiet experience: Although the semi private set up is nice, there were 2 ladies who came in for massages who were very loud and were pretty much constantly talking to each other the entire time. It is not enjoyable for someone who is trying to relax for an hour long massage. - Forgot hot stones! my masseuse forgot that I had asked for the hot stones and once he remembered he proceeded to quickly grab some extremely hot stones (FYI - I like hot stones and am fully aware of the temperature they should be. These were way more hot than they should have been) and do a quick 5 minute massage using the stones. - masseuse left for 15 + minutes! So twice during my massage, the masseuse left for well over 7-8 minutes at a time! I am not sure what he went to go do because he didn't return with the hot stones and I hadn't requested any other additional service. I'm paying for a 60 minute massage. Not a 43ish minute massage. Overall: I will not come back to foot reflexology and will not recommend this place to anyone I know. I did not feel relaxed after my 60 minutes AT ALL. Terrible Terrible Terrible. read more

I've had at least 4 1-hr foot massage sessions here in the last year and they've all been great. The spaces are divided by sheer curtains which gives you a sense of privacy without feeling isolated, which I appreciate. The soft music, water feature and dim lighting alone are very relaxing, but the technicians themselves are the reason I come. They know their stuff. David provided my foot massage today and I'll ask specifically for him each time I visit from now on. It was the best foot reflexology treatment I've ever had. They had us lay down while our feet soaked in some warm water. We then got a full head massage with some shoulder and back work-AMAZING!! Our appt was for just the 30min foot massage so, this was already blowing my mind!! The foot massage was glorious too-they massaged our feet and our calves. Sadly, I give this place a one only because I had the worst massage therapist ever today. I am shocked he is still employed and not involved in a mal practice lawsuit. This mid aged smoker Asian man prodded and pinched me so hard at times I lst a contact lens from tearing up. Trust me I asked him to stop twice and told him it hurt. I would swear he had a vice grip to my toes after he covered my eyes. I am always the first person to ask for a shiatsu style massage but this was way over the top! I felt like no one in the place spoke English to complain to afterward. The receptionist did but she was a teenager and obviously wasn't running the operation. Foot Reflexology compares very favorably to the foot massage centers in the San Gabriel Valley where they originated in the Southern California area. The foot massage areas are actually little tent cabanas with billowing curtains and soft lighting with new age music wafting in the background. I've seen David the masseur here for the past three week-ends and he really managed to work out all of those stress knots in my back and shoulders. If you opt for a full body massage, the tables are located in private rooms in the rear of the spa. I prefer a table massage combined with a foot massage afterwards. You can opt for soft, medium or hard-core massage; the medium is just right in my book, but the therapists are amenable to your own personal needs/kneads. The staff is very nice and polite, the location is great and the prices are very reasonable for quality reflexology work. As someone else mentioned here, please tip your masage therapist generously.
