I am really bummed out about this experience. We had the choice between the Lobster shack and Foot Bridge Lobster. We looked at both menus which looked very similar but what sold me on the FBL was the quaintness and the attention of the staff. We placed our order with an extremely friendly cashier and waited about 5 minutes for our Lobster Roll. When it came out I just kinda looked at it thinking did we just pay $20 for a few pieces of claw meat on a finger roll. I then snapped out of my surprised daze and said to myself (and my wife), "I bet its going to be the best roll we've had so I can just grab another one when we are done". Well, the first bite told me everything I needed to know. Was the lobster fresh? Yes. Was it slightly overcooked and chewy. Yes. Was the roll the length of my index finger. Yes. Was I expecting to be blow away? YES! Was it flavorless and uneventful? Yes. Will I be back? NO. On a side note; the Cole slaw. At first bite, showed a lot of promise, but the second bite showed that it was over saturated in dressing and actually had a fermented tasted. Perhaps not as fresh as you would hope. Overall very disappointed, and if it wasn't for the pleasant cashier and short wait time, I would have given it 1 star. read more

We searched Perkins cove for clam chowder. The FBL restaurant's clam chowder was very disappointing. The soup was had few clams and very thick. Should have had less thickener. It was poor tasting. No seating available either. read more

I went here because of the reviews.....first..there is no where to sit..two lousy seats at a shack that is it. Were the lobster rolls good? yes, they were like a small snack..no fries, only chips with that have to order a whole side of fries? $44.00 for two small rolls at small shack in the blazing sun for 2 rolls, greasy fries, a water and a soda with college kids staring you in the face...if you want to spend that kind of money, definately go get a table in the shade. This might be the best lobster roll I've ever eaten. Fat, meaty, fresh chunks of lobster just slicked with butter and tumbling out of a rich, soft roll. (The rest of my family members opted for the mayo version and they enjoyed it that way just as much.) Simple and yet sublime. read more

For the past year I have been living in New England. I am a midwesterner and other than my one trip to Cape Cod had never really had the opportunity to eat lots of lobster. When we moved to Connecticut that all changed. I ordered lobster rolls as often as I could, at whatever place served them. Footbridge Lobster was HANDS DOWN the best. In addition to there being a lot of claw meat, there was also a few huge pieces of tail meat, which you really don't see in a lobster roll. Yes, there is zero seating and yes, you cannot park your car near there, but deal with it. It was deliciousx1000. The lobster roll with coleslaw (or chips) cost about 17 bucks, which is not the cheapest, but it was totally worth it. read more

Big fan of Foot Bridge Lobster in Perkins Cove. I have never had it personally, but my sister claims it is the BEST lobster roll in the area. From what I've heard, the owner catches all the lobster that he sells. Now that is fresh! I've had the breakfast sandwiches on a few occasions and they are fantastic. Fresh biscuits from Congdons, and they don't skimp on the bacon. Delicious. I like to grab a breakfast sandwich, head over to Breaking New Grounds for a coffee, and check out the view. A little underwhelmed. I received a small (tiny) roll , which was packed with meat. The lobster was cooked well, I wish it was warmed, as I ordered it with butter. Given the several choices in the area, they did nothing to stand out or for me to say they were above average. read more

This is a cute little shack overlooking the water. We both got the buy one get one free lobster deal. The lobsters were great and already pre cracked so that made it nice and easy for us to eat! The cole slaw was really good too. I definitely recommend this place if you want some good lobster for a decent price and a nice view! Perfect little taste of Maine. read more

There's a lot of debate about whether Footbridge is better than Perkin's Cove Lobster Shack right next door. Today I tried to get a lobster roll (to go) nextdoor, at Perkin's Cove. Most of the tables inside were empty. When I went in I was met by a young man who told me I'd have to wait even though there was no line. I told him I just wanted to get a lobster roll to go. He said he needed to seat two tables before he could deal with me. I emphasized that I did not want a table -- just a roll to go. No, he said, you have to wait. "Yeah," I said, "Or I could just get a roll next door" and left. Anyway, I can report that the roll at Footbridge was very good. Nicely toasted roll, fresh and flavorful lobster (all tail meat), and quick, friendly service. Skip the cole slaw -- too goopy. read more

What a disappointment! Last year, my boyfriend and I went to the Lobster Shack (which is right next door to Foot Bridge) for a Lobster roll and it was delicious. This year, we decided to try Foot Bridge because it also had good reviews. The people working the counter were not friendly. The lobster was very chewy and tasked frozen or over cooked. The roll only had butter on it and lacked any flavor since the lobster was not fresh. The next day we went to The Lobster Shack fpr lunch and got clam chowder and a much better lobster roll for the same price. Also, the Lobster Shack has seats while you have to find your own outside seat to eat Foot Bridge. Skip this place and go next door. read more

Oh my goodness, I thik I am having lobster roll withdrawl since returning home. This place is the absolute best, and even the locals will tell you that. I had the lobster roll with no mayo on Friday and had to get it again on Saturday. Every bite is messy because its all huge lump lobster meat... drizzle it with a little butter and its pure heaven! But seriously you will have to take multiple bites of just lobster before you can pick up the roll and take a bite. Its just that packed with lobster, and just that good. read more

I read the other reviews and just don't see it. The lobster was fine...a bit small probably...the ones that no one wants for the special. It was $13.95 though, not $10. The fried whole clam bellies saved the meal...they were very good which the actual lobster roll was lacking. I had the butter version and my wife the mayo...neither were bad but neither were remarkable. A man worked there who I presumed was the owner...he took pride in his work...his staff...a bunch of young kids that could care less... Price was not overly good and VERY Touristy IMOP. In years past, this was a hands down favorite. This year, we ordered two hot lobster roll with melted butter. The lobster was so cold the butter congealed on it. The cole slaw was swimming in mayo as if it was soup. However, the roll was toasted and buttered to perfection. And despite the higher prices and smaller size, the roll is comparable in size and price to others in the area - just not the deal it once was. read more

I was excited to try this place as it was reviewed #1, but I was disappointed. Food was just okay. My suggestion would be to head to Kennebunkport to the Clam Shack. Footbridge's Lobster Roll didn't stack up to the Clam Shack's... It was full, but lacked flavor. I asked for butter mixed in with the lobster and she gave it on the side. Service was not good as I also ordered a hot dog, which the menu said "all above items served with potato chips or potato salad". I asked for potato salad, and she said "oh we just changed that today so hot dogs don't come with that anymore". Well, take down the sign, or give me potato salad since that's what is promised. I don't understand what all the rave reviews are about. There is much better lobster rolls to be had elsewhere. As for price, 16 dollars for a lobster roll certainly isn't a bargain. On Monday May 28, 2012 my friends and I were walking the cove looking for coffee. The footbridge had coffee. The menu also had egg sandwiches. We ordered 2 of them. after waiting 10 + minutes for them, they were terrible! The yolks exploded out of each sandwich as we bit into them. The group of 5 or 6 teen employees got a great kick out of this. Maybe a more mature staff and better training could provide more acceptable service. Eggs are easy to cook. We threw them in the trash. Im glad the kids there found it so amusing. Training in customer service and respect should begin ASAP! read more

We love Footbridge Lobster. It is fresh and delicious and straightforward. Nothing candy coated about this place! I love that you can get your lobster roll plain, with butter or mayo on the side, so you can decide how much you want to put on there. So often a lobster roll is more like a mayo roll! Never at Footbridge! There are public picnic tables nearby to sit on, so no need to get upset over the lack of seating. So, relax, lighten up, and get ready for the best lobster roll you can find! read more

I can't believe I've never written a review for here before. Bottom line if you're in Ogunquit you need to try Footbridge Lobster. I know they are take out only and there isn't a place to sit. But still its worth going here over most everything else. A couple reasons they have the best lobster roll. 1, they offer it with butter or traditional mayo. I much prefer with butter but do yourself a favor and get the butter on the side. add some after you sit down or it will be soggy. 2, The lobster roll is also 5 ounces, more than most other places. And its served on a delicious roll from a local bakery. I will say it would be nice if the roll was a little bigger with still the same 5 ounces of lobster. Other foods are also good. Their fried food is done well and tasty. I will say the only minus is their chowder. Go next door at the lobster shack for their chowder as its better (that's all that's better there though). This place is a must stop in Ogunquit. read more
