We had dinner here this week, and it was outstanding. I called and made a reservation a couple of weeks ahead of our visit (we were there on a Monday night, and in the restaurant area it was pretty quiet - just us and one other table). First things first - parking is super easy, it's a free valet service (not obvious at first, as there is parking behind the restaurant, but you're greeted right away when you pull in). We walked through the bar area, over to the restaurant area (surprisingly the bar was quite full), and were able to choose a table by one of the two fireplaces. On the restaurant side, it feels very cozy, and homey, exactly where you want to spend a cold night, inside eating dinner. Our server was lovely, greeted us right away and provided menus. I started with a cosmo (they had flavored versions like strawberry, but I elected to go for the classic). For an appetizer, we started with the bacon wrapped scallops - the bacon was maple glazed, and wonderfully crispy, with the scallops cooked perfectly, and some micro-greens scattered on the plate - delicious. For entrees, my mom had the baked seafood stuffed haddock which came with a lobster sherry cream sauce, a massive pile of perfectly cooked green beans, and mashed potatoes (yum). I went with the duck special, which was absolutely delightful. It came with Brussels sprouts, and I subbed out the au gratin (I very strongly dislike sweet potatoes), for mashed potatoes. It was delicious. We were so full, we opted for dessert to go (chocolate cake), which was generously portioned, and decadently delicious. Stumbled upon That Place in Ogunquit last night and was so happy we did. The service was fantastic the food maybe even better. Parking was right but they have valet which was easy. We started with scallops wrapped in bacon and their bread service. The butter was sweetened and the bread was great. The scallops with bacon were excellent. My husband enjoyed a few vodka with cranberry and he wasn't disappointed. He chose the crab stuffed shrimp and sincerely loved it. The rice and green beans were great but he was full from the shrimp. I chose the filet with a lobster tail, fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Everything was simply superb. Dress was casual and the place was clean. Not thinking they are accessible though as there were steps going in the two doors we used. read more

It is "THE" place to come for dinner! Lovely ambience that isn't too loud to have a conversation while enjoying your meal. Okay now for the food!! Our appetizer was AMAZING AND SO DELICIOUS! The scallops were tender and perfectly cooked with the crispy bacon-we were sorry we didn't double the order. Our entrees were equally as delicious. Now this restaurant was fabulous! Drinks were delicious, started off with chocolate martinis, which were really good. We moved onto Aji tuna and seafood, stuffed fish. The tune was gorgeous to look at as well as taste. The seafood stuffed piece of fish was outstanding. Perfectly broiled with a crispy and crunchy garlicky, crumb topping. Mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery. Our waitress from Romania was a doll! Really efficient and we didn't need to ask for anything. She provided everything we needed. read more

Delighted with the quality of the service and the quality of the food - asking for a table for one can be dicey but they were wonderful and I had a great experience. Someone somewhere on the internet questioned the quality of the baked, seafood-stuffed haddock but my version of the dish was a delight. Ambiance was great. Came here a few weeks ago and the service, atmosphere and food were all great. I was lucky to make a Saturday dinner reservation for 4 the day of. We started with the blue cheese mussels for the table. The flavor was great, but the mussels were very small.. most smaller than a dime. Maybe it was a bad batch of mussels or not the season? Anyways the flavor was still good and we got some warm bread that was great for soaking up the sauce. We also got french onion soup which was delicious. For mains, my husband and I shared the broiled seafood trio and carbanara. Both were delicious and the seafood was fresh and yummy. The shrimp were large and my favorite. My friends got the beet salad and cajun snapper which they also enjoyed. The cajun snapper was a quite large generous size too. read more

We came to That Place for our first-anniversary dinner, and it was great! The ambiance is lovely, and we had wonderful service and food. Unfortunately, they do not take reservations for small parties, so we were worried about getting a table, but it ended up being absolutely fine. I am sure during the busy season this may not be the case, so be sure to plan ahead! My only critique is the vegetarian options - I would have loved to see a few more veggie-friendly dishes on the menu! We ordered a salad to start that had bacon on it, even though it was not listed on the menu. Vegetarians - just be sure to ask before ordering! Didn't even make it in the restaurant because I went to park in the handicap parking spot because I got blown up in Iraq 21 years ago and am paralyzed from the waist down. I was told that all parking spots are for valet parking which is illegal to do you cannot remove a handicap parking spot to have more valet. I don't let other people drive my car because it's a liability due to the fact that if you've never used them it's dangerous. Plus it's illegal to use them unless you have a mechanical aid restriction on your license. The kind young valet kid was doing his job which according to him his boss who is on vacation sets the rules. It's 2025 as if this guy is in Antarctica or some BS and is unreachable. I had my first FaceTime call with a friend from Antarctica so I don't know what the hell that had to do with anything. Thanks for nothing! I drove all the way up here and it's my wife's birthday and now we are stuck trying to find another place to eat while I try to not let this fucked up situation ruin the day. We are here on Sunday. It was a fantasticeal. The French onion soup, the chowder was delicious. The mains were the broiled seafood trio (scallops, shrimp and haddock). I don't eat scallops and it wasn't a problem to sub in more shrimp and haddock. So good . The other entree was the pasta carbonara with chicken. As good as everything was my favorite was the bread and butter. The butter had honey added to it. I could have made a meal on that alone. Service was terrific. read more

Pretty much done with this place. Clam chowder is served lukewarm and is loaded with bacon. Yuk. Haddock meal is mostly breading and had about 3 good bites of fish. For $34? Nah. Main dining area is unbelievably noisy where you can't even hear yourself think. Water is served in glass the size of a shot glass. Four of us visited That Place on a recent Sunday evening while visiting the area. We enjoyed the food and attentive service. I rate it 3.5*. VIBE: It was a cozy, crowded multi-room tavern with noisy, crowded bar area. Casual, local rustic feel. SERVICE: Our server was like the Energizer Bunny, animated, brisk, attentive. Food came out quickly, but we did not feel rushed. FOOD: Everything was good -- tasty, unpretentious, nothing fancy in the way of prep or presentation. Of the dishes I tasted, the beet salad and the seafood trio were not outstanding, but were A-OK. My companions also enjoyed their entrées of cioppino and stuffed shrimp. Wines by the glass offered a few serviceable choices. I'd return if I lived in the area, but as a visitor, That Place would not be my first dining choice. read more

How have I not written a review of this place? I've been here each time I visit Ogunquit for six years and it's always great. Delicious lobster crostini, pork belly, whatever else I've eaten, drinks, service, atmosphere inside and out. The bar area is fun. No complaints at all. The name is silly but that's the only bitch. I don't know why this place has such high ratings. The place itself is cute. But the food is mediocre at best. The broiled fish had a dry, dusty bread crumb topping that was mixed with spices, probably to cover up the not-so-fresh fish flavor. The green beans were barely warm, never mind actually cooked. The salmon is a little dry and perhaps over cooked but the meal was great overall. The salmon was really tender and didn't really fall apart and wasn't quite soft like I've had in the past. The sauce on top is soooo good and every bite that had that on it was delectable. There could've been more sauce it was so delicious I wanted more. The green beans were firm as well and not soft. When we walked in I was surprised because of how fancy and nice it is inside. Most the restaurants in the area were not. I think I underdressed in jean shorts, whoops . Let's start with the dessert: Creme brûlée was perfect. Salmon had this amazing sauce that was sweet, but not too sweet and it was creamy. Husband thought the shrimp was weird but liked other than that. The kids ordered a pizza and they loved it. Pizza wasn't anything special but kids love all pizza. The food was excellent as was the ambiance. My wife had the Cioppino which was excellent. The scallops were cooked perfectly even though they were in the broth along with the rest of the seafood. It was so good we shared. The broth wasn't fishy tasting at all, nor was any of the fish in the dish. Very fresh! I had the calamari and bacon wrapped scallops. Both were excellent. The calamari was lightly breaded and the aioli had just the right amount of kick. The scallops were cooked perfectly. I loved the maple glaze drizzled over them. Seriously the best I've ever had. For desert, we had the peanut butter mouse pie. Oh my was the good. Crazy good. But share it. The restaurant is in an older home but is nicely updated inside. It has a warm and inviting feel. It's a bit loud in there when full, but we liked the energy. The manager was very nice and asked us for feedback on her staff which was nice to see. She obviously cares about her guests. This is and has always been our favorite restaurant. Every year it's on the plan to go to dinner here. My whole family, because of previous experiences, also make it their ritual as well. Everyone has an off night so I'm not saying I'll never have dinner here again. I was disappointed. The calamari, which has always been the best was flavorless. The slow roasted beets were ok, not wow. The beef tenderloin was over done, the sauce was barbecue at best. The smashed potatoes were flavorless. The asparagus was good but green beans were over done and absolutely nothing on them. The service was fantastic as always and the cocktails were delicious. I'll try again next time read more
