I held out from eating lobster in Boston to wait for the day trip here and it was worth it! First time having lobster roll and the lobster I received was plump and soft. I don't like fishy tastes/seafood generally and this wasn't fishy at all. Not all rolls had similar quality though, one of the rolls my group ordered had a shell in it. Each lobster roll can be done with butter, mayo, or both and are heated upon request. They all come with a bag of kettle potato chips and a fork; there are condiments and napkins sitting out at the order window. The shop was a small house with one counter window open for ordering. There's handicap parking steps away from the order counter, and restrooms about a 2 min walk away. The house sits across from a tall footbridge which is a nice photo spot, and there's a bench and trash can underneath it. It took about 15 mins to order and receive our items with a line that was about 7 people long! We came on a summer Saturday afternoon and it was lively, there were lots of people strolling around. The surrounding area seems like a resort town with lots of inns and rentals. read more

Footbridge lobster vs Lobster Shack review Location: Footbridge lobster is located right next door to Lobster shack right by the footbridge. Seating: Footbridge js TAKE OUT ONLY with a big window you walk up to order and pickup. There are some benches nearby you might get lucky or you can stand by the bridge and eat. Lobster shack has seating and bathrooms. Price: On a Monday post lunch hour, I ordered the Lobster roll with clam chowder soup. Foot bridge is cheaper if you buy the combo outside of the lunch special hour compared to lobster shack. If you buy during lunch hour, they both are about similar in pricing. FOOD: The biggest difference between the two was TEXTURE. Footbridge offered a bouncy/chewier texture while Lobster Shack offered a softer easier to pull apart lobster. Secondly, the bread is slightly smaller at footbridge but the meat is 5oz almost singular piece versus lobster rolls multiple smaller pieces. Clam chowder was similar in the sense that footbridge had a thicker milkier consistency like most New England clam chowder while Lobster shack had more meat/substance but thinner liquid base with a somewhat coconut type taste. Both lobsters and clam chowder are unique and tasty in their own way and all boils down to preference. Lobster shack also had a pickle on the side but the price is slightly higher which all in all boils down to whether you like to chew or just wolf down that lobster roll. read more

Maine, Perkins Cove (Ogunquit): It's been awhile since I've been to Maine, so this is exactly what I was hoping for from my lobster roll! They boast 5.3 ounces in each sandwich, with an option of butter, mayo or both. Also got the potato salad. Order from their window, no indoor seating, but there are benches across the street. We were visiting the area and a few locals told us to come to this spot because it was their favorite. So we did. I did notice there's a lobster shack right next door; apparently a sit down restaurant with no line. There was a big line to Footbridge, but surprisingly it moved super quickly. I loved seeing a family run business. Dad and older brother cooking in the back, daughter and younger son taking orders and getting drinks. They have a decent menu besides just lobster rolls. I got the lobster roll of course; done up both ways. When it came out honestly I wasn't expecting much; because I've had a few in Boston before; but I didn't understand the hype. Here in Maine at this spot I understand completely. My friend and I had just gotten done with lunch about 30 min prior to ending up at this spot; so I wasn't hungry at all. This was my first lobster roll in Maine and it did not disappoint. We ordered two lobster rolls served warm and fish and chips. The lobster rolls were so overloaded with lobster that you couldn't see the bread underneath. They definitely did not hold back on their generous portion. The warm bread was soft and the roll as a whole had just enough butter. The lobster was not stuffed in the bread so we had to open the bread up and stuff as much lobster in between! After exploring other lobster shacks, the value at this location cannot be beat. The rolls were $30.95 for just a bit over 5 oz. The fish and chips was a HUGE portion of both. As a native Mainer I am always skeptical of the popular lobster roll spots but decided to finally give footbridge a try while I had an out of stater visiting. The location in Perkins Cove is absolutely stunning, I love watching the boats and walking the shops and then doing the Marginal way walk after. This makes for a perfect summer day. Yes parking is bad! But parking farther away and walking is totally doable and then you really get to see all of this beautiful area. I really expected a long wait at noon an a beautiful sunny Saturday but I was very impressed with how fast it moves. Yes we did still wait but it was not excruciating at all. Once we ordered our food it came out within minutes so I know that the wait is not due to inadequacy but just because there's so many people! Now onto the rolls. These are a fantastic price at $29. The roll is incredibly buttery and toasted. It is loaded with lobster! We did one mayo and one with butter but I think next time I was just go with butter because the mayo didn't add anything for me. The lobster was fresh and cooked perfectly. We went during Maine blueberry weekend and they were including mini blueberry muffins with every lobster roll which was a cute addition! Overall a good experience from Footbridge. You can tell it's quite popular because the line is always long. The location is great right in the heart of Perkin's Cove which makes it a picturesque place to stop after walking Marginal Way. We ordered 3 lobster rolls and a shrimp roll. They put all three rolls in the same container which made it a little hard to divide since you each need a tray to catch the spilling lobster. Sadly current market price for lobster makes this roll total $30.95 which is pretty steep. I will say, compared to others I have seen and experienced in the area, it was stuffed with a lot of meat! The pieces ranged from very tender to chewy, which is expected with lobster. I ordered mine warm with butter and honestly I added salt. The extra seasoning greatly improved the flavor experience. I'm assuming the mix of mayo and butter would be the way to go for max flavor. The shrimp roll was good, also with lots of shrimp. There are some seats nearby but the pro move is to take your food to the benches by the parking lot overlooking the water for a top tier experience. read more

Horrible service. Called in an order they make you wait in the line to order for pick up. Got to the counter and paid and there was a bag of food ready on the counter. 10 mins go by the server asks the kitchen where my order is. They tell her it's the bag on the counter. So for ten minutes my order sat getting cold. When I commented on that the counter workers response was "Atleast you have it". No apologies no attempt to correct it just take it or leave it kinda attitude. Absolutely ridiculous for a $161 dollar order. Owner really needs to hire better staff. read more

We are going to go broke buying lobster rolls if we don't get out of Maine very soon! This is the best we've had so far - literally overflowing with giant chunks of moist, tender lobster meat lightly mixed with mayo and melted butter on a soft, buttery toasted roll. So dang good! You definitely need a fork to eat because they are so loaded with huge chunks of lobster meat that it will fall off! Unfortunately, my dog Chico managed to snag a big chunk of claw meat when I was grabbing my soda! He did enjoy it thoroughly and he's such a good dog, he deserved it. The service was friendly and efficient, we had a short wait and there were several people in line. The lobster rolls were $31.95 for a 5oz roll and chips, which seems to be the going price. The least expensive rolls we had were $24.95, but they were only 4 oz and the meat was more chopped. It was still delicious, but this one knocked it out of the park. They have chopped up the lobster and added spices and this lobster is whole pieces with a little spice on it so the spice isn't as strong as I would prefer Picky for sure but I like the other lobster rolls that I had a bit better Don't get the french fries.
