    Lobster Roll
    Codi B.

We were visiting the area and a few locals told us to come to this spot because it was their favorite. So we did. I did notice there's a lobster shack right next door; apparently a sit down restaurant with no line. There was a big line to Footbridge, but surprisingly it moved super quickly. I loved seeing a family run business. Dad and older brother cooking in the back, daughter and younger son taking orders and getting drinks. They have a decent menu besides just lobster rolls. I got the lobster roll of course; done up both ways. When it came out honestly I wasn't expecting much; because I've had a few in Boston before; but I didn't understand the hype. Here in Maine at this spot I understand completely. My friend and I had just gotten done with lunch about 30 min prior to ending up at this spot; so I wasn't hungry at all. I just figured I'd try a bite and be done. Well that wasn't the case. This thing was delicious. Best lobster roll I've eaten; I ended up torturing my self and eating the whole thing. Definitely worth the hype. If you're in the area definitely come here.

The business on the left is the shack we had our rolls from.

This was my first lobster roll in Maine and it did not disappoint. We ordered two lobster rolls served warm and fish and chips. The lobster rolls were so overloaded with lobster that you couldn't see the bread underneath. They definitely did not hold back on their generous portion. The warm bread was soft and the roll as a whole had just enough butter. The lobster was not stuffed in the bread so we had to open the bread up and stuff as much lobster in between! After exploring other lobster shacks, the value at this location cannot be beat. The rolls were $30.95 for just a bit over 5 oz. The fish and chips was a HUGE portion of both. It was served very hot and fresh. This is just a small lobster shack so there is not any seating but there were a couple seat benches close by. Service was quick.

Yum!! First lobster roll and I loved it. Don't skip the butter and mayo! Line was long but moved fast and meat tasted so fresh and not fishy. The fries were also 10/10! Great experience and would recommend. No free parking but hourly pay parking nearby is really cheap if you can find a spot.

As a native Mainer I am always skeptical of the popular lobster roll spots but decided to finally give footbridge a try while I had an out of stater visiting. The location in Perkins Cove is absolutely stunning, I love watching the boats and walking the shops and then doing the Marginal way walk after. This makes for a perfect summer day. Yes parking is bad! But parking farther away and walking is totally doable and then you really get to see all of this beautiful area. I really expected a long wait at noon an a beautiful sunny Saturday but I was very impressed with how fast it moves. Yes we did still wait but it was not excruciating at all. Once we ordered our food it came out within minutes so I know that the wait is not due to inadequacy but just because there's so many people! Now onto the rolls. These are a fantastic price at $29. The roll is incredibly buttery and toasted. It is loaded with lobster! We did one mayo and one with butter but I think next time I was just go with butter because the mayo didn't add anything for me. The lobster was fresh and cooked perfectly. We went during Maine blueberry weekend and they were including mini blueberry muffins with every lobster roll which was a cute addition! I loved waiting the boats and eating by the water. I would battle parking and wait in lines again for these rolls!

Overall a good experience from Footbridge. You can tell it's quite popular because the line is always long. The location is great right in the heart of Perkin's Cove which makes it a picturesque place to stop after walking Marginal Way. We ordered 3 lobster rolls and a shrimp roll. They put all three rolls in the same container which made it a little hard to divide since you each need a tray to catch the spilling lobster. Sadly current market price for lobster makes this roll total $30.95 which is pretty steep. I will say, compared to others I have seen and experienced in the area, it was stuffed with a lot of meat! The pieces ranged from very tender to chewy, which is expected with lobster. I ordered mine warm with butter and honestly I added salt. The extra seasoning greatly improved the flavor experience. I'm assuming the mix of mayo and butter would be the way to go for max flavor. The shrimp roll was good, also with lots of shrimp. There are some seats nearby but the pro move is to take your food to the benches by the parking lot overlooking the water for a top tier experience.

Our lobster rolls with hot butter was phenomenal. No other words other than go and get some. Well worth the price. We got two rolls and two lemonades. $105. Lots of fresh lobster! Wish we had known parking would be tricky. The pier was crowded so get there early. We grabbed our rolls and had lunch at a nearby park. I'll be dreaming of this roll till we come back to Maine.

This was the best lobster roll on our trip so far. Lobster chunks are huge and chewy and delicious. They also had a special with clam chowder which was also good. Food came out quick. Only downside is there's not really any seating around...

Soo yummy! The service was great - the owner came out to talk to us about how they catch the lobsters fresh each day. The line was long but moves quickly. Lobster roll was great portion and had both mayo and butter.

Really good lobster roll but the price is INSANE. $41 in Aug 2025. Seems like just a few months ago it was $35 so that price increase is crazy but hey... we paid it. We're happy it was a good, overly stuffed roll. Cashier recommended we try the mayo+button combo and that was terrific. Fries were good too! FYI: no seating it's a shack you order at the window but find a bench or spot nearby.

You can't believe a breakfast sandwich could be this good. Went early in morning because it gets busy. They put more lobster on it than you expect. Service was quick and fast. You can sit on bench across from the stand and eat.

Pretty decent lobster roll for the price, and while the bun was very good, the lobster itself was quite chewy. Probably hard shell which I don't necessarily mind but it was still chewy... maybe microwaved to reheat?

Our favorite lobster roll on our entire trip to Maine! We got it twice! Loved the hot and cold together and the sweet potato fries and maple aioli was incredible!!!!! Will definitely come back here again!

We requested a table with a view and were allowed to hang around the bar area while we waited. The wait was only about 10 minutes and the table we were given had a wonderful view of the harbor. Our waiter was at our table to take our drink order almost immediately and promptly took our food order when he arrived with our drinks. Our food came out fast and was all hot, clearly nothing had been sitting under a heat lamp at window and was brought right to our table as soon as it was ready. Pickle chips - first it's worth noting that these are not made with dill pickles, they're the sweet "bread and butter" pickles. It's not my personal preference, but some may prefer that. Either way, it probably should be mentioned on the menu. The fried pickles themselves have a perfect thickness of breading on them, which does seem to have some seasoning in it. Every one of them was crispy and the breading wasn't peeling off like it does at many other places. The dip they came with tasted like it might have been a blend of thousand island and horseradish. Fish and chips - both the fish and the fries were very fresh. The fries were definitely freshly cut and not frozen. The fish had just the right amount of perfectly crispy breading on it. Neither the fries nor the fish were soggy. The only feedback I'd have here for improvement is for the sauces. If you're going to go through the effort to use fresh fries and fish, then why use store-bought tartar sauce? I'd love to see them start making some fresh tartar and maybe even some homemade ketchup! Fried clams - My wife had the fried clams and one of her favorite reasons for coming to this restaurant is that the menu states that they don't use any hydrogenated oils in their food. She also really enjoyed her clams and found them to be crispy and flavorful.

We chose to eat here because of the huge patio, with lots of shade, that overlooks the water. The location is unbeatable, and we did not have to wait for a table on a busy summer day. Our service was also incredibly friendly, from the young men behind the ordering counter, to the waitor who served us our drinks table side. The only reason I am giving this three stars is because the food was just average. We ordered a chowder, a lobster roll, grilled cheese, and a hot dog. The grilled cheese and hotdog were good, but the lobster roll and chowder were just okay for the price. The chowder was a bit watery and not as rich as some of the others that I have had. The lobster roll was a little small and needed to be jazzed up with some more mayo or lettuce. Overall I had a really nice lunch here and would definitely return just for the location and service.

Footbridge lobster vs Lobster Shack review…read more Location: Footbridge lobster is located right next door to Lobster shack right by the footbridge. Seating: Footbridge js TAKE OUT ONLY with a big window you walk up to order and pickup. There are some benches nearby you might get lucky or you can stand by the bridge and eat. Lobster shack has seating and bathrooms. Price: On a Monday post lunch hour, I ordered the Lobster roll with clam chowder soup. Foot bridge is cheaper if you buy the combo outside of the lunch special hour compared to lobster shack. If you buy during lunch hour, they both are about similar in pricing. FOOD: The biggest difference between the two was TEXTURE. Footbridge offered a bouncy/chewier texture while Lobster Shack offered a softer easier to pull apart lobster. Secondly, the bread is slightly smaller at footbridge but the meat is 5oz almost singular piece versus lobster rolls multiple smaller pieces. Clam chowder was similar in the sense that footbridge had a thicker milkier consistency like most New England clam chowder while Lobster shack had more meat/substance but thinner liquid base with a somewhat coconut type taste. Both lobsters and clam chowder are unique and tasty in their own way and all boils down to preference. At this moment in time, I prefer footbridge for the lobster roll and the clam chowder at lobster shack. If I went outside of lunch hour, footbridge will be my go to for the slightly better price and less broken down pieces of lobster. If you don't like to chew - lobster shack

We sat at a table by the window on the first floor. We overheard that there is an upstairs bar, not sure if they also seat folks for dinner there. We were able to place an order right after getting settled. We enjoyed the Sun mocktail, charred beet salad, mac and cheese, fried codd sandwich, steak frites, and corn ravioli (without the pancetta). My spouse is gluten free and I am vegetarian so we are always looking for restaurants that can accommodate both. The charred beet salad was good but I think dressed a bit too heavily. I thought the corn ravioli and sun mocktail were both great. The kids (ages 1.5 and 5) liked the Mac and cheese and fried cod sandwich. They did not have any appropriate booster seats for the 1.5 year old so my spouse held him. My spouse loved the steak frites but I think wished had a few more "frites" given the amount of interest from the younger crowd. Our waiter was wonderful and also brought some orange slices from the bar for the kids. We were very grateful. We decided to go nearby for ice cream after dinner, but I heard there is a dessert menu.
