I should have read some of the reviews. My wife and I stopped by for pulled pork sandwiches. Not a snowball's chance in hell that the meat was BBQ'd. I agree with other posters...crock pot. The good news? Not greasy. The bad news is that the meat was tasteless, dry and the sauces provided were mediocre. The real WTF moment was that pull pork sandwiches come with coleslaw, which was the case with our visit...a small amount that filled a condiment container half way (maybe a 4x thimble's worth of coleslaw! Do yourself a favor..skip this place if REALLY interested in good BBQ. Look, the serving size of meat was good and it was not greasy. If you like crock pot pulled pork, you probably won't be disappointed. If you like sweet BBQ sauces (I don't..therefore the comment about it being mediocre), than bonus points for Foothill Mama's. Perfect for a stop between the mountains and DC! Drove past it the first time because it's angled away from the road in a strip of stores but was close to I81. We had two platters of the fried catfish and it was quick and delicious--ate at the bar and had great service! Will be back. read more

We were in the mood for some bbq and saw this place and drive an hour to get there. We were stayin in Hot Springs. The food did not disappoint. The Smokehouse Nachos are sooooooo addicting. We got chicken on them and then put bbq sauce on it. OMG is all we can say. We had three sides with the combo - baked beans, collard greens and Mac n cheese. I just had the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. I am not talking about the food. I am talking about one of the servers there. It is a woman and this was on 06/09/2020 at about 6:00 PM. I had ordered onion rings to go and when I saw them they are about 1/4 the size of the onion rings I have been eating there for years - maybe 2 bites each for me and my wife. I asked what happened to the portions. The server said "have you been to the grocery store lately". I said "but this is onions". She said if I did not like it to go somewhere else. I said I would and that I would never return there again and I won't. She said "good, I hope you never come back" Then she said I complained all the time. There is one time I told her that they used to put some pork in their beans and they were better. The next time they had pork in their beans. That was not complaining - it was a suggestion. Walked in on a Saturday afternoon around 1 p.m. after driving all day. I was excited to try this place because of the high reviews. I was highly disappointed. Upon arrival, we weren't even greeted. Just stood there until a table was cleared for us to be seated. There was one party ahead of us. The restaurant was small and about 2 or 3 servers working the place. After about 15 minutes, we were finally seated. I ordered chicken tenders, my daughter go a pulled pork sandwich and my husband ordered the combo of pulled pork and smoked chicken. We waited for about 30 mins for our food to come out. The food was not seasoned, my husband's chicken was almost cold and they forgot my chicken tenders. It wasn't worth waiting for so I didn't even say anything. We never saw our server except to take our order and take our food out. Never came by to check on us or refill our drinks. My first night in Lexington, the line for this place was out the door so I knew it had to be good! The following day I went before the dinner rush and I'm so glad that I did. The Cuban sandwich was delicious but I cannot recommend the peanut butter pie enough. It's unlike any other peanut butter pie I've had! First: The waitress seated us then sat across the room talking with another waitress for so long that I had to go over and tell her we were ready to order. This restaurant is a little gem tucked away in a quiet area. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fried chips; it was AMAZING. Easily the best BBQ I've ever had! We've been stopping at Foothill Mama's for about 10 years when we travel between SC and PA, usually 3 or 4 times a year. The food has always been excellent and usually the service is good. Sometimes our timing was out of sync with their hours so we were very happy they were open on our latest trip. We were not disappointed. The nachos were even better than we remembered. And the brisket was the best we've ever had. We got there around 3 on a Friday so it wasn't crowded. Service was fast and friendly. This place has a lot of personality. The restaurant is very southern and you feel very comfortable eating here. The staff is friendly and attentive. The BBQ has a nice smokey flavor, and you have 3 different options for sauce depending on how you like your BBQ. I found this place by accident from Yelp. I dined in-house at their bar and ordered their blackened catfish, served with mac 'n cheese, coleslaw, and a big chunk of cornbread. I took a pound of their pulled BBQ to-go. ALL of their food was fantastic. The staff is super friendly, as well. My server checked in on me at all the appropriate times, not too much or too little. I got her opinion on the menu and beer, and she knew the menu well and had great advice. The menu is not expensive either. Overall, 5 stars for food and service. I am not one to write reviews much. However, this has to be said. My wife and I went here this past Sunday for lunch. I was extremely excited to have a bbq joint that was so close to home. My expectations on somewhere that calls itself a bbq restaurant is honestly pretty high. I ordered the the brisket and pulled pork combo, as my wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich. The brisket was the biggest let down, which should not be called brisket. If you have spent any time around BBQ establishments you should know that brisket should have a nice crust on the outside, with a nice pinkish middle. The crust that is somewhat brown is a natural outcome from smoking meat. Meat that is smoked typically will take on a pinkish tent in the middle. This brisket was grey and not appetizing in any fashion. It tasted of strong garlic and boiled beef. The pulled pork also seemed as if it had been in a water bath or had been sitting in a warm bin far to long to be considered freshly smoked over wood BBQ. I am one who enjoys the natural flavor that happens with smoked meat and with that, there should be wonderful flavor that does not need to be adulterated by heaping amounts of sauce on your BBQ. I am going to quit here, the sides were somewhat bearable but rather bland as well, and if the chips and fries are hand cut they were cooked hours ago if not days. read more

They hired me and then fired me 3 days later because I had a family emergency and her reasoning behind firing me was "it wasn't working out anyway, my other manager Lisa said you don't follow simple orders. This job isn't for everybody". I would like to clarify that I did anything and everything Lisa told me to do AND THEN SOME. I really needed this job to pay for my living expenses and now I have to move out of my home. So I would like to thank the owner Laura and her manager Lisa for completely fucking me over. P.S.
