Salted Caramel Pretzel Brownie. Yup! To die for!

This is a nice bakery located in Carver Square, directly across the parking lot from a church that draws a fairly decent bingo crowd where I'm one of the callers.

I only tried the vanilla on vanilla but the cake was flavorful and the frosting was rich and smooth. It's surprisingly hard to find a cupcakery where the cupcakes have both good frosting and cake. In my travels I've found that generally it's one or the other. One thing I really found great was the woman running the shop let me know that there was no oil in it and it was butter based and so it needs to be refridgerated and when I was ready to eat it, to let it sit out and get to room temperature. That's how a lot of cupcakery's bake, but hardly any will tell you that or how to make sure your cupcake is at it's tastiest when you eat it. It's good to know they're looking out for newcomers. Anyhow, four out of five, because price was a little high. It was more than 3$ for a regular, nothing special vanilla.

I like to try some of the new items when I stop in - the key lime torte was amazing. The owner, Wendy, is really friendly, helpful and talented. We ordered a custom cake for my daughter's birthday and it was a huge success. Everyone asked where we had gotten it. We went back for my son's birthday a few months later and it was just as amazing. Their creations are very creative and taste as good as they look.

Artisian Hearth Gourmet Brioche Rolls: A bun can make or break the perfect burger or sandwich…read more Artisian Hearth's gourmet brioche rolls are baked at state-of-the-art, quality-controlled bakeries in St. Cloud, MN., Sun Prairie, WI., and Fargo, ND. Before I jump into how they taste, I want to address what a brioche bun or roll actually is. A brioche bun is a rich, slightly sweet, and soft French-style bread. It's made using dough that incorporates butter, milk, and eggs. Those ingredients contribute to the roll's signature golden color, fluffy texture, and buttery flavor. The brioche's high fat (although this product has just 1.5g) and egg content creates a moist and absorbent bun that's perfect for burgers and sandwiches. Artisian Hearth's product tastes like a quintessential brioche roll to me. All of the above qualities seem to be checked off. I absolutely love the thick, fluffy, and pleasantly chewy texture. It doesn't hurt that they are also visually appealing with their golden color. Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews

Some things better than others. -- Sourdough bread: Excellent flavor and texture. -- Blueberry Danish: A little dry and a little off taste. -- Almond Croissant: Very good texture, slightly warm, but chemical aftertaste to the almond filling. -- Chocolate Chip Cookies: Thin and a little dry. Nice buttery aspect but something off-tasting too. -- Ginger Cookies: Chewy, bendy, and pleasantly strong ginger flavor with no aftertaste. Heavy on the sugar crystals. Easily the best of the cookies. -- Lemon Ginger Shortbread Cookies: Not bad. Definitely buttery and interesting tartness. A little of that "off" taste I can't place. Friendly staff. Easy parking. I should note that the bagels looked good, and we didn't try those, so that might have tipped the scales more in their favor. Again, nothing was bad. Better than supermarket bakeries for sure-- just not on the level of the better bakeries in Boston.

It's rare that I walk into a place and they blow my mind. However, I found my new spot. Italian Gem Cafe has it all--and the gem in their name certainly belongs there. Jessica is running an amazing business in Middleboro, MA and my only regret is not finding out about her cafe sooner. IGC uses clean ingredients, makes everything fresh in house daily, and believes in small batch or quality over quantity. However, I must say, I was blown away by all of the choices they had. I can personally say that her paninis, made on house made focaccia bread are next level. Whether you're going with house favorites like La Rosemarino, La Diavola or La Porchetta or a weekly special, you are bound to be satisfied. And that's only the beginning of that's they have to offer! The bagel bomboloni was quite possibly the best savory pastry I've ever had. I cannot stop thinking about it. The mini Nutella and wild berry bombolonis were so good too. Their donuts and croissants were also delicious. I know they went viral for their frozen espresso, but I opted for the cookies and creme latte. It had chocolate all around the cup, the espresso was perfect, the cold foam was next level and the cookie details on top were the ideal touch. This latte was amazing and you know I've had a lot to compare it to. Alli def made the perfect drink for me and I am so thankful for her thoughtfulness on selecting one I would love. The customer service at IGC is def next level---they care about their product, their customers and their community. I'll be back soon for sure!

I usually order from another local cake baker, but after visiting this adorable bakery a few months ago and having a great experience I was so excited to see they offered cakes made to order. And decided to give them a shot. I was even more excited after viewing all of their beautiful cakes on there website and happily placed my order for a chocolate raspberry cake for my husband's birthday. Well let's just say if you look at the cake on their website and the pictures of the cake I picked up they hardly look the same. When I picked the cake up I didn't get a good look at it as it was being boxed up, and I was several feet away. To my surprise when I got home and took a peek I was pretty shocked at the appearance. The piping and decorating of this cake were extremely poor. I am very surprised that any business would think that this cake was acceptable to go to a customer. Also very misleading to post beautiful pictures of cakes if you can't consistently put out the same quality. I paid $68 for this cake, and the only reason I didn't go back down with the cake is because I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I told myself maybe it will taste amazing....if the cake tasted amazing I could forgive the poor appearance......but it was just ok. The cake itself was pretty dry. Poor ganache quality. I could go on. But I won't. I really wanted to love this cake and this little local bakery but sadly I most likely won't return. So now I post here hoping to save someone the trouble and the $68 to not go through the same thing that I did.
