Best service and best price, paws down. I've taken my Maltese, Azucar and Black Lab, Brooklyn here for over 10 years. Now that my Maltese is gone it's Brooklyn and my other 2 labs, my Chocolate Girl Godiva and their blonde daughter Frenchie. I absolutely love how great they smell and feel. Mark and his staff always do an awesome job on shedding them. Anyone that has labs can surely appreciate that. And not to mention, flea dip, brush their teeth, express the anal glands (I know maybe TMI, but sometimes necessary with certain dogs) they perfume them and dress them in a cute festive henkercheifs. Over the last 10 years I've moved further away but it's still worth the almost 10 mile drive there. Groomers in my area will charge at least twice the amount and not give me the full service that my dogs get with For Pets Sake. So, I really want to give this organization-3 stars but I will give it one so the animals will not suffer. About 4 weeks ago I called Pamela (who runs For Pets Sake) and inquiring about the cutest puppy we had seen on Facebook. A few hours later I went to the thrift store to meet Pamela and fill out the paper work fir the puppy. The meeting went really well. Pamela explained that she needed to do a home visit and she did not live far from me so she would call me to get it done. A week went by no call. While waiting for Pamela on the first day I had found a few items in the thrift store but I forgot my wallet, Pamela was so kind as to hold the items. So, I went back to the shop a week later to pick up the items and to see what happened (as I did not have her number to call her). When I asked her about the dog at first she said the dog will not be ready till November (this was October). Then in her next breath she said that she gave the puppy to someone else because she did not feel like doing a home study. It gets worse!! The next day I was trying to postwhat happened on For Pets Sake Face Book page (where I was bloocked) I saw the puppy that we were promised back up on the site. My heart )was broken. Now mind you she did tell me that she lived close to me. My family was so very excited to be getting the puppy There was no reason why we should not of. We have a large home that sits on 5 acres one acre is fenced in. No criminal back grounds and plenty of money to feed the puppy. She told me the she provides the food. As I was so excited about the puppy I was telling my friends around town people were telling me apparently Pamela has a reputation for not treating people of color fairly. All I can figure out is that she did not give us the puppy because I am a woman of color. Please beware the por dogs that are in the cages in the thrift store that she runs need homes they do not look happy. We've been taking our two dogs here for years. They are easy to communicate with and make time for both our dogs. More than the good job on cleaning and trimming, I believe they care about the animals. One of our dogs was getting thin and eventually passed. The owner called us shortly after since he noticed we hadn't been in and was genuinely concerned about her. We shared she had passed and he expressed his condolences. For Pets Sake has been taking care of my dogs grooming for maybe a few years. The initial impression of the shop interior isn't great: could use some cleaning/redecorating and the pet smell is strong. Anyway, I'm always happy with how my dog looks and the prices are very reasonable. My pup stayed 2 nights for boarding and it was a good experience. It was a very hot weekend, but they have air conditioning and I was told someone would be there every day. During his stay, he was given a bath, haircut, and a dose of Advantage for a little extra $. When I picked him up, he was clean and happy. I'm glad to know I can rely on For Pet's Sake with keeping my dog overnight if needed, and it won't cost me a small fortune. read more

He brushes dogs teeth with human tooth paste. This is toxic. The place is ridden with fleas. There is animal cruelty as soon as you walk in. He has a cat and a rabbit standing in feces in cages. He uses dawn dish soap to wash your dogs. He does not use warm water. The warm water is never on. His kennels are filthy with no padding or simply a towel for your dogs comfort. I took my 2 havanes to be groomed. I was mortified when picked them up. They had razor cuts on their bottom, face and chest. I picked them up and saw the back where they keep the animals. Old crates, kennels and they were doubled up. My dogs were traumatized as they tremor in the out. Needless to say the owner is not friendly. He seems moody and doesn't smile. Decided to try a groomer close to home. The groomer said my maltipoo was being difficult, and was very matted (We had already told him this before giving him our dog). They failed to mention to me that he had pooped in the cage twice, and rolled around in it, because walked in to pick him up 4 hours later and found them washing him. Our dog is 4 years old, and this has never been a problem until now. They had to wash him twice, as it took 5 hours to do a standard cut. Tried to charge me more, and I didn't care, I just wanted my dog out of that place. Obvoiusly not the place I want to leave my dog, but maybe others find it ok. read more

They clipped my dogs nails and bathed and shaved my second dog all for less than PetSmart charges for a bath and nails with no cut. Appointments were quick and easy but beware: only checks or cash no cards. We will be repeat customers unless something drastically changes it goes horribly wrong next time........ This is a local groomer for me and so I've given them more than one chance simply due to the convenience factor. I've taken my 2 dogs there a total of 4 times and am simply done with them. I have two miniature poodles (10-12 lbs). 1) Cut. They ask you how you want your dog cut. I like my pets to be full and fluffy, so not too much length cut off and a full face. I hate the poof they give poodles at the end of their tails, so I ask for one length. They consistently cut my dogs too short. Its as if they were pressed for time and simply took a buzzer to them instead of shears. One of the two will always have a poof on their tail. 2) Timing. They specifically ask when you need your pet done, but they never get it done in time. I dropped off my dogs at 9:30 am, they were supposed be done by 1pm. They weren't ready until 5pm. 3) Cleanliness. The dogs go into crates that look like they don't ever get cleaned. Some of the crates have no liners. 4) Consistency. There seem to be different groomers there, so you never know what you're going to get. One groomer cut one of my dogs nails too short and she was noticablely bothered by it for a week or so. Another didn't clean their ears so a week after their bath/grooming they developed ear infections (common with long ear dogs so their ears need to be cleaned properly). 5) Lastly, they don't accept debit/credit cards. It's cash or check only which is a big inconvenience for me as my debit card is my cash. I paid $45 for each dog for what they consider a "basic" service. I've learned my lesson once and for all. I'll be taking my pets to another groomer, regardless of the distance. read more

This groomer is awesome! I have been bringing my husky here for a while now. They are the most convenient groomer around for my needs. I work in a typical 9-5 job in Los Alamitos. So usually I come in around 9 to drop her off for her bath and then they call me at 5 to pick her up. How easy is that!? Haha... Anyway, I have never had any problems and they are very straightforward which is exactly what I like. They always showed a genuine interest in my husky and she always leaves this place as happy as ever. The only downside is that they don't accept debit/credit, but who doesn't have a checkbook? I've been taking my maltipoo for at least a year now and the customer service was a little weird but I didn't complain because of the prices. So I referred my mother in law who has a tea cup pomeranian and they dropped her and didn't call her to let her know that she was at the vet. She actually arrived and they told her then she was at the nearby vet. The dog had some neuro issues and of course she will never bring her back. I should have stopped then but after this last time I will never come back. I specifically gave orders on how my dog should be groomed. It was 5 hours and realized they haven't called like they used to. I started to get worried and called they said she would be ready in 20 mins. I picked her up and they screwed up majorly. They told me they mistaken her as another poodle and they cut her pads of her feet raw and said she had tree sap at the bottom which she did not. When we brought her home she couldnt walk very well. My dog was not doing well all last night she kept throwing up and whimpering and she looks so horrible. Never again. They truly lost a loyal customer. read more

This company may have the low prices but boy you do get what you pay for in the customer service department. We have taken our dog there a few times and they don't seem to open on time they have no store hours on the door have been left standing out in front and when you call there it is a voice mail that sounds like a cell phone. The guy that is there was soooooooo rude on the phone and said to me you will never get our low prices anywhere else and hung up on me. It is great if you don't mind being treated bad. read more

The first time I took my dog to this groomer they did a fairly decent job and I was happy. The second time I took my dog, his eye was cut and so was his paw. He smelled like a mix of cigarette smoke and doggy perfume and I was so upset. I did not go back and say anything because the owner looks like a drug addict. I will never go back and I am telling all of my friends about them. If you read this owner, please clean up your shop it smells like urine and it is dirty in the reception area.
