It has taken me almost a year to write a review but there is rarely a time I go hiking that I don't think of Dan's role in my ability to be active. After years of knee issues, I found Dan's business here on yelp and immediately made an appointment. Every single positive thing that other reviewers have said here proved to be true. Dan is an extremely knowledgeable, patient and effective physical therapist. Perhaps even more importantly, he's a great person too! I saw Dan for ~5 months. With his help, I went from hiking with pain in my right knee after every hike to completing the Rim-to-Rim at the Grand Canyon with ZERO pain, in under six months. It's been almost a year since I stopped seeing him (because I moved states for work) and I still go through my exercises regularly, using the videos he made for me, and the bands he provided. I have been seeing Manny since February 2021 after I had major surgery to my back. Just last week, the surgeon saw me and said that my recovery has been textbook. Manny was instrumental in getting me back to a normal life, where I can play with my baby, and return to running. He is also a great guy. Dan has been my primary PT and I can't imagine anyone else I would want to work with. 3 weeks ago, my podiatrist put me in a boot and diagnosed me with Achilles Tendonitis and told me I would need to see a PT. I went to Forefront Physical Therapy on a recommendation by a friend of mine who has had three different ACL surgeries. He had a different physical therapist for each one but was never super satisifed - he felt they were all clinical and didn't actuall care about you as a patient. However - he absoutely raved about Dan, mentioning that Dan gives you completely personalized care and doesn't just focus on the single injured part of your body, but instead focused on whole body wellness. So - I ended up going to Forefront after my own knee surgery and I believe Dan may be the best physical therapist in Seattle. My surgeon said that I'd likely never play soccer again after the surgery but six months with Dan, got me back on the field and my knees were in better physical shape than they had been previously. He listened to my concerns, checked in about my pain levels, and had a ton of different exercises and techniques to keep me from getting bored. He adapted home exercises to the equipment I had available to make sure I continued my therapy even after I was done. Although most of my therapy focused on my knee, Dan also noticed my poor posture and sprinkled in exercises that not only worked my knee but helped me strenghen my core, shoulders, and neck to help with that posture at work. My body has never felt better. Highly recommend Dan and highly recommend Forefront Physical Therapy. It really is life changing for the better! read more

Dr. Dan is fantastic to work with. I go with him for help with my diastasis recti, and not only is he flexible with my crazy schedule of 2 kids and a full time job, but he is flexible with my preferences for work outs. He makes my sessions interesting and I feel encouraged to keep working to make progress. I have worked with Dan and also Brad extensively over the last couple of years first to deal with an upper leg and then a lower leg running injury. With their help I'm back to distance running and feel like I have a plan to stay injury free. What stands out is the dedication to their patients... Brad saved my marathon and made running enjoyable again! I had been training for months to qualify for the Boston marathon at the California International Marathon when I started to develop increasingly painful piraformis pain. I saw a chiropractor, which provided temporary relief, but the pain kept coming and I started to wonder if I would ever be able to run without pain again. It sounds crazy, but within one session with Brad, my hip was better. He quickly assessed my muscle weaknesses and provided me with simple but effective exercises that targeted the pain. Within a week of religiously doing the exercises, the pain was gone entirely. I went from wondering if I would be able to run the marathon at all to targeting my goal time, to achieving my goal time and qualifying for Boston, all in a matter of three weeks. Brad is the best! Dan is a great Physical Therapist. I went to him after I injured my knee in a hiking fall. His systemic approach made recovery much easier, by working not just the knee, but also my hips and core helped increase strength and flexibility. His knowledge and understanding about the mechanics of the human body allows him to develop a therapy regiment that focuses not only on rehabilitation, but also preventive steps to decrease the chance of re-injury. I came here with intense carpal tunnel inflammation and pain, amongst other upper body, muscular issues; and am leaving his care with very little carpal pain and increased upper body mobility. Dan is awesome! He helped to heal my knee injury by working with me in clinic and gave me great/easy to do at home exercises, which no doubt, helped to speed up my recovery and regain mobility. He also was a very attentive listener and asked how I was doing each week. He was very interested in my progress and did physical evaluations at each session on my knee to assess where I was at - always adjusting the next steps as needed. I was most impressed with his drive to help me correct what caused my injury in the first place. He educated and worked with me on what I could do to prevent it in the future, which I believe is a sign of a fantastic heath practitioner. I was referred to Dan by two coworkers that had gone to him. Best choice I could have made. He sincerely cares about your well being. Dan addresses your physical rehab based on what will help the whole person, not just the target area for repair. I had bad left knee for years. Limped all the time. Post surgery, I went to Dan. Once I had my range of motion back, he addressed my gait. The problem was caused by my right hip favoring the left side. Dan is a knowledgeable, kind and effective physical therapist. I saw him because my left shoulder started to bother me when I worked out. I was about to move to Europe for work, so I didn't have much time. Dan fit me in for two sessions on short notice. His knowledge of physical therapy was evident in the first consultation. He put me through a couple of tests, identified the issue, and then explained to me the bio-mechanics that caused it. I had developed a habit of rotating my shoulder in a way that was wearing on my rotator cuff. He showed me the correct motion to avoid the pain and then gave me several exercises that would strengthen the muscles that would lead to an automatic repetition of that motion. He also explained that he took a holistic approach to physical therapy and so ran tests on other motion based activities. I explained that I had chronic lower back pain that ebbed and flowed, and he explained that increased hip mobility would help alleviate the problem. He gave me some hip opening exercises as well. He had a very intelligent trick for helping to remember the exercises. He filmed me doing a couple of repetitions of each exercise on my smart phone while explaining the technique. I was then able to bring clips of the exercises home and consult them when I needed to do them later. Finally, my insurance rejected the claim after I had already left Seattle because I did not have a referral from my primary care physician. Dan looked up my primary care doctor, explained the situation, and obtained a referral on my behalf. read more

Dr. Benson is an absolute genius when it comes to human anatomy. He can read the human body as though it was his very own, and that makes one feel completely seen and understood. When working with him, if I told him that a particular movement felt "off" or painful, he would know exactly what minor tweek would work to relieve the discomfort yet keep the exercise in my repertoire. I am completely pain free and my mobility is excellent. A long time ago, I gave up my goal to start jogging, and decided I would never be a runner. Well, after my work with Dr. Benson I felt confident enough to try to jog. And on the very first day of jogging in my life, at age 47, I jogged an entire 5K in 31 minutes without one moment of pain! Many of the exercises he gave me targeted the small muscles around particular joints. I was certain I would lose all my gains at the gym by going through PT. To my surprise, these focused exercises actually made me gain muscle and made me so much stronger. In addition, Dr. Benson gives his clients so many exercises that one starts to collect an entire repertoire from which to choose. I turned our physical therapy sessions into my gym workouts. I stopped everything I was doing at the gym prior to working with him, and used this vast repertoire of exercises to create an effective strength building, mobility building, and cardiovascular workout each week. Dr. Benson is a very gentle soul, who speaks with the utmost respect to his clients, and arrives at each session with vibrancy and enthusiasm. He is professional, accountable, and will take the time to answer all your questions (my intrigue with his knowledge made me ask a ton of questions!). Behind every great man is a great woman, and his assistant Ashley is also fantastic. She handles the billing, schedule, and communications. I literally cried when I was all done with Forefront because I received so much knowledge, healing, and joy from this team. Forefront is absolutely the best PT out there. Don't bother looking elsewhere. Oh, and yes, I did the drive to downtown twice a week. I didn't mind the drive one bit because I looked forward to our sessions.
