I purchased an engine for my 1999 Honda Civic. I had a local reputable shop install the engine in the car. Right away the engine was not running properly, and there was white smoke coming out of the exhaust. The shop ran the engine for awhile, and checked the coolant and found oil in the coolant. The engine had bad head gasket. The shop didn't get to the engine install right away because they were busy, which I was fine with. Foreign Engines refused to cover the head gasket repair because it was 2 weeks past their "30" day head gasket warranty." Customer service was completely unhelpful and unprofessional. Now I'm stuck with a costly repair bill. They state on their website they have a comprehensive warranty, but all their paper work states a limited warranty with a lot of fine print on things that aren't covered. Save yourself money and grief and don't buy engines from them. read more

Terrible customer service. This place will mislead you and get you to buy the wrong parts just for the sake of their sales. I've bought several engines and transmissions over the years from these guys.They've all worked good. Really the quality of the part is directly related to the actual skill of the mechanic. I've always followed their advise, they seem pretty eager to help out and make my experience a good one. You do need to change parts over from your original engine, but just external stuff. The stuff from Japan looks different, but after you change it all over it to the car's original stuff it looks the same. I not too sure why some people are giving this place a bad rap. It's USED stuff, you gotta look past the carbon or the fact it's not install ready. Ok, so I did have a transmission that made a weird sound going from park to drive. Their friendly warranty tech sent me over to the trans shop nearby. The trans shop looked at it for me and said the tranny was started to wear on the shift fork or something like that, but it'll probably be fine, which it was. read more

I purchased a D17 Engine to replace a D17 with 200K miles that had blown a head gasket in my 04 Honda Civic EX. While the delivery and communication with Foreign Engines was seemless, the product I received wasn't quite up to the expectation of "Approx 50K miles" as advertised. Granted I understand Foreign Engines doesn't inspect the internals of the motors they receive. Although I feel as if a engine with approx 50k miles should look a hell of lot better internally than my current engine with 200k miles on it. When I removed the oil pan to swap them I noticed quite of bit of sludge built up internally like the oil had never been changed. After I installed the engine into the car it threw a CEL for insufficient EGR. So I pulled the Intake manifold and the passages were completely clogged. Never have I seen a approx 50k miles motor look substantially worse than the 200k mile motor coming out of the car. We will see if the motor holds up. So far after all the little bugs have been worked out the motor has good compression and runs fine hence the 3 star review. read more

Bought a h22a , and transmission from them, because my current one was about to throw a rod. Anyways, Driven it over 30k miles, no issues. Transmission is excellent. no grinds. They also have a great labor warranty. Though, its ran great so i have no worries. If you're considering buying a motor or transmission from a junkyard.... well, Rethink that one. spend a few extra dollars. and buy it from them. its worth it. read more

I recently bought a engine from this place and it has not been a good experience. When I was looking for an engine, I was only looking for the same engine (f22b2 non-vtec) or one that was directly swappable. They were nice but the engine they gave me was an (f23a), which is not directly swappable. My buddy has been helping me install it, since this is all new to me. I have learned a whole lot but time after time new complications are cropping up. When I talk to the tech support, he seems much more interested in being technical then helping us to a solution. If you know what you are doing when it comes to engines, this place might be great (because the sales person can sell you the wrong stuff); but thus far, it has been nothing but a headache to deal with them. read more

I got a transmission for my car from Foreign Engines, and unfortunately after a couple months, my transmission failed. I was upset of course, but I understood that even new equipment can fail sometimes. The transmission had a one year warranty on it, which was great, because most used transmissions only have a 30 day warranty which would have left me high and dry. Time to see if Foreign Engines would stand behind their product or not. I contacted their warranty department with my transmission issue, expecting to get the run around, and they did determine that my mechanic had installed my transmission cooler incorrectly, causing the failure. Uhoh, I thought......but they honored their warranty anyway. Even though my mechanic caused the failure they delivered a new transmission to me for free.
