Attended EEEEEATSCON today and it was epic! This was my first time at this stadium so I'm reviewing the overall event. I had such a great time that I'll be in attendance for any future food festivals. The food vendors change each year so the experience is always different. The event itself was very well organized, friendly staff, easy to navigate around the stadium, and the stadium had plenty of restrooms. Tickets were $30 dollars for entrance into the event and you had to pay for food & beverages which is typical of a food festival. It was worth it. There were about 25 food vendors & a variety of drink & dessert options. The lines were pretty long but moved quickly especially for the more popular vendors. All vendors took cash & credit. Apple pay was the preferable payment option but all others were welcomed. I'm stuffed! And tipsy... I ate & drank way too much and would do it all over again because I was impressed with everything I got my hands on. I'm not sure if there's different sponsors every year or the same one but American Express was this years sponsor and had some complimentary perks for being a card member. Thanks amex! This place was horrendous to enter. Doors opened at 6:30. Show started at 7:30. What time did we get in? 8:45. It was so incredibly disorganized. We went for a Bill Burr comedy show and we had to use yondr pouches. I've been to comedy shows so I understand why. But this place was individually putting phones in the pouches once you enter. No wonder the line was so slow to move. We are all grown adults and know how to put phones in pouches. That was the biggest bottle neck and what should of been maybe max 30 min waiting in line turned to hours. They should of just handed out pouches and kept scanning people in like how other places do it. Never coming back to this venue. read more

One of my favorite venues around! Great alternative and pop bands offered. Outdoors. Option of stadium seating or general admission. GA has partial shade and fake grass, which makes it easy to sit on. Couple blocks away from the LIRR station. Wide age range in the audience. Early start time (5pm-10pm) so you don't get home super late. Cheap tickets available on StubHub that are easily accepted there. Lots of food booths. Bathrooms right outside the stage area, with real sinks! I wish there were more water fountains. Also, security throws out all your food. I did get mine through by telling them about my dietary restrictions, but I can't imagine they make that exception frequently. read more

I emailed the venue regarding my issue. It was promptly received and addressed. The customer service was excellent. They understood my concern and explained why they thought the issue occurred, stating that it shouldn't have happened. They offered to refund the cost of the bag check ($5) but could only do it if I paid by credit card, which I did not. They also offered me VIP lounge passes for a future show. With the 2019 season ending, they had no problem holding the lasses for a future 2020 show. They reiterated how important customer feedback and satisfaction is. This matches the feeling I got from the rest of my experience there. It's nice to know that if you have an issue here, there is someone who will promptly receive and address your request and make it right. Thank you! read more

I will die on this hill. If you buy GA tix that give you access to floor/bowl, but a bunch of other GA ticket holders show up before you (even though you arrive one hour after doors) so the floor tix get depleted...and you stand by the exit and someone gives you their GA floor band as they're leaving...THIS IS NOT A CRIME (or sketchy in any way)!! I paid the same price as this person, they saw the band they wanted to see and were leaving, planning to throw the wristband in the trash, were happy to give it to me as they left, but like 7 security surrounded me and claimed that it's literally ILLEGAL and threatened to kick me out. Insane, fix your security (except Sonya, she's the best)! read more

The venue has a great vibe but the audience in my section (202 for the Avett Brothers) was noisy and disrespectful. What's worse, someone selling beverages for the venue was shouting for attention during a quiet song. That's unforgivable. Read the room! It took me almost 2 hours each way to get there from my home in Brooklyn so don't know I would make that effort for anyone else. read more

I really enjoyed seeing Juthro Tull here. You can see from wherever you are sitting, and the open-air venue is fun. I wasn't crazy about the bleacher seating but I rented the chair backs for my husband and myself because we're old & falling apart. It's a pricey stadium, but what stadium isn't these days? Our seats were 89.50 but we had a fantastic view and the sound was great. I like being outside because it's less damaging to one's ears. The stairs might be rough for some people, so plan accordingly. If you have any mobility issues you have to be on the ground floor. The grounds are nice. Get there early (they open at 5:30 for a 7 PM concert) and enjoy a drink or some food before heading upstairs. My husband had the rice balls and said they were good, I had an empanada and it was decent. The bathrooms were clean and gender-neutral, with full doors on them. I had to laugh at the number of old hippies still toking up. Weed was everywhere! I'm in my 50s and I think I was one of the youngest people there, haha. The guy behind me was telling some friends that his is legal because he has a medical card. Easy to get to by LIRR and the subway (don't drive, there's NO parking anywhere) and all in all a great place for a September concert (as long as it doesn't rain). Empanadas - 5; rice balls - 3 for 7, seat rentals 12 or 2 for 20, t-shirts - 40. Contact high from the people around you? Priceless. read more

I love this place! I came here for Sheryl Crow and Robert Plant, and I had an amazing time. There are so many good food options. The stadium is very spacious. There isn't a bad seat in the house - the stadium is so quaint that you could sit anywhere and have a great view of the stage. Get here early! My favorite part about this venue is that the concession area looks like a State Fair. Seriously, all they needed was the Strong Man bell thingy and cotton candy. Heck, they might of had cotton candy. It's a small stadium with very steep seating so I presume the views are great from the nosebleeds. I wouldn't know because my criminal ass grifted my way in to GA. I'm not telling you how because they'll fix the whole process and ruin it for us miscreants. My first show here was Interpol. I only knew one song, but they were free tickets so what the hell. I enjoyed myself. Especially that one song I knew. I was going to mention that the stage lighting was funky, but that was just for the opening acts. Opening acts get no lighting love. The sound was pretty good. I was dead center so it was balanced as an of course. GA is as flat as a pancake so if you're below 5'5" you're screwed. Get to the front however you can. There were all these freakishly tall guys at the Interpol show so my 5'9" self was doing a whole lot of neck craning. But I still got great video of that one song I knew, so I'm happy. And wear good shoes. The hard packed earth was hell on my feet. My left one completely fell asleep but that was probably because of my slipped disk. I'm old and falling apart. You'll be better off than me. Since it's smack in the middle of Forest Hills Gardens, shows here end EXACTLY at 10. If your act doesn't start their encore before 10-to-10, you're screwed. Egress is smooth, if slow. It's a hike back to the Subway/LIRR with a ton of people so don't be in a rush. If you're broken like me, your foot is still asleep anyway. The Gardens are maze like but they have lots of cops directing the flow. You won't get lost. I'd gladly come back to see a show here next summer. Next time, maybe I'll even sit in my ticketed seat. read more

Great outdoor music venue! Came here for the XX show over the summer and had a great time. It is a bit of a trek out to Forest Hills for me from Brooklyn, but not too far from the F train stop. The place is completely outdoors. General standing room on the floor in front of the stage, and then surrounding elevated seats/bleachers. around the periphery. We were standing in the crowd on the floor and had pretty good views of the stage. On a cool evening, the experience is fantastic. Outside the stadium there is an open area with AstroTurf with multiple food vendors/stalls - a great place to chill at when you're waiting for the show to start. Getting in and out of the stadium was a breeze. Because the stadium is in a somewhat residential area, there's a strict sound curfew in place, so the show usually ends on time. If I have a band I like playing a show here, would definitely not hesitate in coming back! read more

Forest Hills Stadium is amazing for concerts! Since it was a tennis court, it makes a beautiful amphitheater. The sound is excellent, and the top is open so you get to feel the breeze and watch the stars come out during the concert. There is not a bad seat in the house! I've been here twice so far: once to see Bob Dylan before he won his Nobel Prize and for John Mellencamp. For Bob Dylan, we bought nosebleed seats on the far right (if you are facing the stage). The sound was great! It was a great show. You could see Bob Dylan dancing around. He performed for 2 hours straight! Which is amazing considering he was 75 at the time! For John Mellencamp, we were invited by friends. The seats were amazing! We were on the tennis courts in the center, facing the musicians! John Mellencamp played his hit songs and mixed in some new songs. The sound quality was so good, the songs sounded straight from your speakers! And under the starry warm summer night with a cool breeze, it was amazing! The check in process is pretty easy and quick. Metal detectors were used at the second show but not the first. Both shows did not allow for umbrellas. The volunteer ushers were very efficient and polite. The security and NYPD were great! There was a drunk concert attendee that was a little unruly. They handled him with grace and dignity. The shows end punctually at 10pm. Strict Forest Hills rules due to the surrounding area being residential. Pro tip: If you cannot afford the concert, or you didn't buy tickets on time, bring a mat or a chair and sit outside the venue. The locals do that to enjoy the music. I would not hesitate to return for a concert. read more

Built in 1923 and the original site of the US Tennis open, this is now a 13,000 seat outdoor concert venue. Lots of on site food and drink options with outstanding acoustics and many, many porta potties. My only complaint would be the bench type style seating for the majority of the "cheap" seats. It was our first time at Forest Hills Stadium, we love it! We traveled from NJ. Found a spot five blocks away in the beautiful residential area (maybe because we arrived early). The staff is so friendly and very helpful. Plenty of restrooms. A huge selections of food and drinks, expensive but delicious. The sound was great. Rex was amazing. Definitely would come back. Only advice is get the merch early. Only had two booths, the lines were very long. They sold out of things by the end of the night. read more

The best concert venue in NYC hands down. I can't believe anyone can find fault with this place. The acoustics are great (you could buy the cheapest tickets and still hear everything), it is intimate while allowing a huge crowd and you never feel suffocated by the crowd because it's a huge stadium where you can find clean restrooms without waiting on a long line. Food and drink options are not cheap but they're plentiful. It's also a landmark (100 years old), constructed when promoters were less greedy and the pretentious "VIP" price gouging mindset hadn't existed yet. As a result all the seats are equal in terms of sight lines and acoustics. Barclays, in contrast, was created to give vertigo to anyone sitting in the cheaper seats. I have seen a dozen concerts here and each time I had a great experience. Go Queens! read more

This venue is amazing!!! We didn't have the best seats in the house to see Ed Sheeran in action, however we were fully engaged with the full concert experiences. Just going for a concert at the Forest Hills stadium is pretty historical considering it was the first US Open tennis court. Additionally, lots of famous tennis players and musicians played here as well. The sound effect was incredibly acoustic. Pretty much all the bars within station square and Austin street offers discounted drinks before and after the concert. The LIRR is a block away from the stadium and two short blocks to public train station such as the E/F/R trains. Drinks are extremely pricey at the stadium, but can be worth it if pregame properly before at the local bars in the neighborhood. They have a variety of vendors at the stadium and I'm looking to explore the food selection at the Who's concert this coming Saturday. read more

I am a big supporter of Forest Hills Stadium, the mission to reopen and make it a concert and event destination. It is a place of historical importance (see my friend and Forest Hill's native, Glenn V.'s review for some of the storied history - Jimi Hendrix booed! too much!). In a city, especially in Queens, where we are too quick to tear down our historic structures, what is being done here should be celebrated and applauded! Around the stadium there are plenty of stands with great local food & beer options which include Arancini Bros, Asia Dog, Little Munster, crepes, funnel cakes, fried oreos... a large selection with many stands. Although Heineken is the majority of the beer options a great local option was Finback, made right here in Glendale, was available. Enjoying a concert in the open air, especially with great weather (such as when the Who played in May 2015) makes for a Queens experience that can't be beat! Now is it all sunshine and rainbows? No, of course not.. The porta-potties are never a favorite, but there are plenty, the seating which has been greatly improved since the general admission opening is still a majority of aluminum benches with assigned width, but it is not easy to make your way to your seat with the narrow walk ways made even more narrow when people fill those seats. This is a historic stadium (read OLD) located in a residential area that owns the street. Many concessions are made for the residents which includes narrowing and directing the majority of foot traffic to station square. It makes for a long, difficult entrance and exit. There is no street parking, so best to leave the car at home. Also, from my understanding, shows are required to end at 10pm. Even with the drawbacks it was a privilege to experience a show here knowing the greats that performed and played here. We want this in our city! Always celebrate and remember our past while we improve upon it and update it for the times. It's part of what makes NYC the greatest city in the world! read more

The number of years the old neighborhood tennis stadium remained completely unused, for the most part, predates my fourty years of Forest Hills living. Growing up a few blocks away and being of a mischievous age, my friends and I would sell parking spots to event goers in our neighbors driveways. Not necessarily with the home owners permissions, narrowly evading any punishments. I stood outside when YES played, Jimi Hendrix getting booed, I guess the fans couldn't wait for The Monkees, who headlined the show to take the stage. (True story) Sinatra, The Beatles, Joan Biaz and others all performed at the tennis stadium. I keep pressing the 'tennis stadium' mantra as was its intention and how we spoke of the old gal. The proposed plan of a museum, and a luxary high rise apartment building had no traction as residents own the streets and voted down the proposals for many reasons. The streets have always been private since Forest Hills was designed and built by Olmsted, same gent that designed Central Park. Snow and garbage removal, road repairs, literally every infrastructure need is contracted outside of the city's workers. Three years ago, architects, engineers and contractors were addressing some needed structural and cosmetic improvements. A daily walk of the dogs provided little insight as to what was happening behind the tall, chain linked fences. Shortly there after, The Summer Concert Series was announced and the news was received very differently, depending on who you were asking, merchants or residents. Either way, the plan was approved the stage lights and artists that performed underneath have returned. Minus being hearded like cattle out the Burns St exit toward Station Square, I feel the venue from vendors to security and obviously seating within the tennis stadium are well done. Confession: the great officers we have at the 112 precinct allowed me to exit stage left after The Who's fantastic performance, as it cuts a few blocks off the walk to my house. read more

Forest Hills Stadium has mastered the art of crowd control and for that I am eternally grateful. I came here on Saturday night to see The Who play a sold out show. Five stars for the performance, but now let's talk about why the stadium gets a stellar rating as well. Just the thought of thousands of people squishing into one confined space gives me the heebie-jeebies. I can't tell you how many times I've waited on an endless security line to get into a concert. Forest Hills has the operation down to a science and getting into the venue was a smooth and flawless experience. Don't get me wrong- there were a TON of people trying to get in. They had an ample amount of security lines and the folks in charge were very skilled at directing people where to go. Once inside, a lack of lines was still present! You would think, sold out show means a line for food and beer right? Never that! There were so so so many beer and food vendors set up that it was impossible to wait on a line. This place really knows how to do it right. They are sponsored by Heineken so about 95% of the beer tents were heiny but there was also a Single cut brewery table for the hoppier minded as well. Food vendors were delish. Lot's of really funky food stands like Asia Dog, Little Munster grilled cheese and Arancini Bros rice balls. Definitely don't worry about eating before the show, as you'll probably want to eat again when you check out the food area. Food and drinks are important, but nothing is more critical then a venue with good acoustics, visuals, lighting and views. Even from a fairly high up section (tickets were pricey, okay!) we had a perfect view of the stage. It's just something about the layout- every seat feels like a good one. The sound and visuals were great and I felt like I was on the stage rocking out with Townshend and Daltrey. Unfortunately, this venue doesn't typically bring in acts that I would trek out to Forest Hills to see, but next time they do I'll undoubtedly be there. read more

I read the older reviews about the venue before going to the Brand New + Modest Mouse show so I would know what to expect. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much. However, to my surprise, I had a delightful experience! Apparently the venue had been renovated, so I can't really compare how it was before to how it is now. Getting into the place is some sort of a trek, and lines for getting bracelets for alcohol were somewhat unorganized. Other than that, I have no major complaints. I think every seat in the stadium is a good seat. I sat in portal 6 lower bowl 12 and had a great view of the stage. I would come here for a show again. read more

Forest Hills Stadium is probably one of my least favorite venues for a concert (but if there's a great artist that I want to see, I will obviously go). The stadium isn't too far from the subway. The bathrooms are co-ed and kind out out in the open. There's stalls but no ac so if you're going in the summer, prepare to come out drenched in sweat (at least, that's what I encountered during the heat wave). I went before the concert but had to go again after but it was so hot that I decided to wait. During the heat wave, the water brand Core were giving out free water bottles. There's plenty of food booths to choose from from local restaurants which is pretty cool. The stadium itself is not covered so bring sunscreen! We sat near the front and our seats were uncomfortable but much better than the stadium benches! There's a ton of history at this venue but it's also an uncomfortable venue in the summer. If I go again, I now know to always get orchestra seats. read more

One of the better venues for an outdoor show. Know that there is no cover and if it rains, you'll be in it. That said, the venue is clean, well organized, easy to get in and out of. I usually attend for music concerts. I find the sound very good given the design of the venue and being outdoors. The ambiance is great for a show. Food selection is usually pretty good with local vendors. The drink selection is usually pretty good as well, with plenty to choose from. All expensive of course, but not sure if you can do anything about that. I took off a star due to recent security issues. We all understand the need for security, but in my last show there, they created a bag check and LOTS OF RULES that the security personnel themselves were unclear on. This caused even the smallest bag or backpack to be immediately denied, sending hundreds to their newly formed bag check. Many others entered with their backpacks and bags. It was clear security was unclear on their own rules. Thank God getting out of the venue wasn't crazy at the bag check, but it wasn't organized either. For a place that has prided itself on organization, this was a total fail. Hate to say that it presented itself as a way for them to make money, whether or not that was the case, that is what the take away was. read more

It was my first time going to a concert at this venue. I went with my teenage son to see Weezer. I got there early so there was no line and the security was quick. So far, everything was going well. Food and beverages are overpriced. Bathrooms are ok. There was a nice beautiful breeze for a bright summer day! At this point I loved this venue. Amazing place for a concert. I have been here twice so far. Mumford and sons was great but the stadium had some growing pains. I believe they sold 17k tickets. Today they keep the crowd at 13k. This makes a world of a difference to the overall atmosphere and comfort. A lot of the early reviews are about the lack of seats and bathrooms. They seem to haVe fixed both of these issues.. They installed benches for the bowl seats and they definitely have more bathrooms. I was here for Mumford & Sons' concert on 6/16/16. Great concert by the way, but there are a lot of improvements that need to be done. Porter-potties, really? Where are your real bathrooms? If you're going to house thousands of ppl, you need real bathrooms with additional Porter-potties. $10 craft beer? I don't wanna sound like a beer snob (well I am), but $10 beer is way too pricey. Though it may lack the scintillation of MSG in Manhattan or Barclay's in Brooklyn, the allure of Forest Hills Stadium is still merited for its location in the heart of FoHi and its history as one of the city's most coveted outdoor stadium venues. At nearly a 100 years old (#1), this place was the original location of the US Open and Davis Cup and has played host to many of the world's greatest musical artists for the latter half of its existence (#2) . In doing so, it has also been one of the great catalysts in attracting both local and non-local crowds to Queens and continues to be a quality, if not iconic venue throughout the year. It may not look like it can hold more than 5K on a good night, but Forest Hills Stadium in fact holds 14,000 folks at max capacity. While that's a wonderful number for the stadium, I can only imagine how the residents in nearby Forest Hills Gardens feel about the shows and the kind of business (or ruckus) it brings. Like any popular venue, the traffic here for cars and people alone, clogs up the area from time to time. (#3) Despite it being an outdoor stadium, every performance here will happen rain or shine. Just another reason to appreciate their willingness to let the show go on. _____________ (#1) Constructed in 1923. Excellent venue for the SOLD OUT Jamiroquai concert I went to two days ago! It was raining and cold but that didn't stop us from an absolutely amazing performance by one of the BEST groups (imo!) in a few decades! Truly underrated in US, but have a great following overseas... Anywho.... Back to the venue! Totally impressed with the cleanliness of the bathrooms, especially with the size of the crowd! The workers were all very pleasant and helpful. I'm not sure how many seats there were but I didn't feel crowded at all. Lines moved pretty quickly from restrooms to concession. Can't even explain the expansive food selection! They had EVERYTHING! And it was so hard to decide what to get! Rice balls! Pizza! Empanadas! Saigon! Chicken fingers! Mochi! Etc and so on! Too excited about the concert that I didn't take any pics of my culinary delights! What kind of Elite am I??!! I will say that I didn't want to be too full so I chose stuffed Arepas as my snack and was stuffed anyway lol! I'm a big fan of this stadium. I've been here a bunch of times, and really have never had any complaints. Their music lineup is always up my alley, and the quality of the concerts are always on point. I think the acoustics are great, and I've never had an issue with seeing the stage in the various locations I have viewed from. The venue itself is beautiful. They keep up with the tennis theme in small doses (when you enter you're walking on a grass court and they have some employees wearing tennis outfits that walk around with rackets). They have a cool variety of food vendors. Definitely not your typical stadium food (think everything from your traditional chicken fingers and fries to rice balls, gourmet pizza, hummus, fried cookie dough, empanadas . . .). It's a bit pricey (food and drink), but I feel like that's to be expected in any stadium, and those who know better go out on Austin Street before hand. read more

I'm a lifelong NYer but this was my first time in this stadium, where I came to see Bill Burr's Slight Return. It was a beautiful August night, and thank goodness because this place has NOT figured out the logistics of how to move 13,000 people in and out in safe and efficient fashion. There was a very.slow.moving. "line" (more like 5 people across) that moved down the street toward the entrance. Took about 35 minutes to just get to the security, and then we were hassled to lock up our phones like children (for an open air show?), taking up more time, bag search, metal detector check, etc. I paid about $180 for two tickets, which turned out to be bleachers, not individual seats (umm, that should have been noted during the sale?) and so our backs were aching by the end and also if someone drops a beer can or moves their legs, they can kick you. Leaving was chaotic...tons of bottle necks, people walking down bleachers... And let me add that while they take away your phone, they don't take away the weed, which was abundant, along with vaping. I have no problem with weed being legal but I don't want it puffed in my face at a comedy show. read more

What a great venue to see a concert at. Such an intimate setting, I don't think there's a bad seat in the stadium. Going through security was a breeze. Plenty of food and drink options. Very convenient to the subway and LIRR. They have had some great concerts here. If I lived closer, I would go to as many shows as possible here, one of the best venues that I have been to. read more
