It seems apparent that the owner/manager doesn't care enough about the business, because the barista needs help. They are swamped and all by themselves and getting bombarded with online orders while also fulfilling in person orders. They need to hire another barista so that one is making coffee and the other is taking orders and doing food expo. It's embarrassing. read more

Such a cool little coffee shop in Washington Heights. There isn't a ton of room here so get here early if you are trying to do work. They do have good wifi so that is always a plus. It is also pretty quiet so it is easy to concentrate in here. Some coffee shops are so loud and bustling it is hard to do any work. Not here. There is also a bathroom in the back that needs a good cleaning honestly. It does the job though. On top of the different coffee and tea they have some pastries. I don't think they make them on site but they were pretty serviceable. I personally would come back to do work. The cafe has the full package and I will be back! read more

Bagel sandwiches are tasty and filling but by no means the best in the city. The service is friendly but a bit slow, at least the one time we went. Our drinks were also good but not exceptional. The space is small and a bit disorganized. Our almond croissant was one of the worst I've had (over baked, deflated, not enough almond paste, etc). The coffee is great and the staff is incredibly nice & wants to help but every time we have ordered food for pick-up, we are waiting 30+ minutes after the time the confirmed pick-up time. It would even be okay if when placing an order it allotted for more time, but to say your order will be ready at 11:30 and it's not being handed to you until 12:13 is unacceptable. Response to the owner: That is absolutely not true. The laptop is ruined. Yes a company laptop - but I pay the consequences. To be honest, I was being very generous initially when the barista explained how it happened which really put the blame on the manager. I thought I would allow the barista to share the incident himself and given that the owner knows me and he really is the one who owed me an apology but now I see that was a mistake on my part. Your barista offered to give me a microphone and speakers - no that is not offering to fix my laptop (I cannot travel with those and my company is based in Switzerland). He also offered to take me out to dinner. (Im pretty sure that is the last thing I'd want to do). No, a free coffee won't cut it. I was made aware that the managers and owner knew of the incident - I expected at the very least an apology - at the very least. Now suddenly because I write a Yelp review, I receive a response. No. I used to encourage people to go there and I used to buy expensive coffee drinks despite not even liking the coffee (I don't know anyone who likes the coffee). Not only is the coffee average. I have literally never been around more rude staffing in my entire life.. The first time I went there the guy working was extremely cold and his responses to me were given to me with an attitude. I tried to give this place a second chance but another employee was the exact same way!! She was absolutely disgusting. I have tried their cafe latte (good), their matcha latte (okay) and their chai latte (worst chai in my life). Love the artwork, specially the ones from local students. The barista with the neck tattoo has this "ehh I don't really care" vibe. The last time I went there it was a different person, young Latino guy at the register, and he was nice. I like that the started a point system. Final Verdict: Wouldn't object to returning for a regular latte there but skipping the matcha and chai latte. read more

I've put off leaving this review for so long, because this place was part of the reason my partner and I chose to move into our apartment down the street almost 5 years ago, but in that time, I've seen such a disappointing decline in the quality of food and service at Forever. I used to love their coffee, and was so happy when they added bagels to their menu. I also liked when they briefly combined with their previous location, Forever Falafel. I also used to love coming here for the great service (shoutout Kelsey, Jacob, Sequoia, and others) that really made it feel like my neighborhood spot. In the last year, it's felt like every change has been for the worse. Most of my drinks are now incorrect or poorly made, and I often see employees sitting on the floor behind the bar on their phones. Most recently, I placed an order for pickup ahead of time for one coffee, arrived 15 minutes later to a mostly empty restaurant, and had to ask the barista to check the system and prepare my drink. While I still appreciate that they are one of the only spots in the neighborhood to get a decent bagel, that's pretty much the only reason I go anymore. I truly want them to stay in business, but it's hard to want to go anymore knowing how great it used to be. read more

That being said, these guys popped up at just the right time and definitely fill a large market on that block between Fort Washington and Broadway. The coffee is great too. I almost want to keep this place a secret as the seating options onsite are limited... I've decided not too though for the benefit of others... Constructively, the space needs a few more touches to feel "complete". It's almost as if the interior designer missed a chunk of the space. I had a long drive from Boston to DC and decided that, rather than pausing at a rest stop, I'd take a break in Washington Heights. I'm glad I did. For under ten bucks, you can use a clean rest room, have a great conversation (about bunnies), and grab a fantastic latte to go.
