If I could give a 0 star I would. Actually the worst hair cut I've ever gotten. I asked for a short trim, and she cut a good solid six inches off my hair. I asked for wispy bangs and face framing pieces, and my bangs were uneven. I spent a year growing out my hair and I wanted to trim a little bit and fix my bangs and she cut off all my progress. Not only did she cut more than she needed. She also cut extremely choppy and it was overall terrible. SHE CUT OVER A YEAR OF GROWTH. And said she only cut a little. Seriously should be fired. I LEFT CRYING FROM FOREVER CUTS !!!!! Hi girls~ If you don't want to take the risk of having either an UGLY UNDESIRED HAIR COLOR or BLEACH damaged hair, never go to this place to color your hair!!!!! I was brunette. I have olive skin color and now I have an egg yolk hair color. I never wrote a bad review about any place. But in this case I have to do it because I don't want what happened to me happen to someone else. I went to this place a week ago to have my hair done by the hairdresser YOUNG. I showed him the picture of the desire hair color. it was ombre, dark color on top of the head and light color on the bottom ( I will attach here all the pictures ) and asked him so many times if it would damage my hair and he guaranteed be possible to get the color I want without damage, he omitted from me that he was about to use a lot of bleach on my hair. Otherwise I would not agree to change my hair color. So in the end of the process, after he washed my hair and I saw on the mirror, my hair was in a weird color like mustard, my entire hair, I got in panic! With a lot of resentment and nagging he took me back "to fix my hair" and again , he screw up my hair in the color it is right now ( see the picture). Was my first time in a hair salon in USA, I had no reaction , I just start crying, and he was all the time telling me it looks good, and he never did admit he did a mistake , don't even told me : I am sorry ! I would appreciate, if he had the decency of at least assume his mistake . But no, they just took my money and let me leave crying and felling so ugly! Since then I've been trying to reach him, and he is avoiding me, not replies on the phone. I went back to the salon last night, he was not there so I tried to talk with the hair Salon's owner -Dong Thi ( the lady on the front desk) . She was so rude with me, and refused to give me any support, she saw me there the last time time too, and did nothing to help me. Conclusion is: I don't want make any comments about the other hairdressers that works in Forever Hair Cuts, because they might do a good job, I am not in the position to judge. My disappointment here is with YOUNG and the Forever Cut's OWNER. It shows they don't care about their customers, they don't give a shit if you are happy with the service, they NEVER offered to treat / rescue my screw up hair , or even offered to refund me. My colleague recommended me to this salon after I complimented her bob cut. I wanted to get the same hair cut and I was greeted by Ah Qiang upon entrance. I showed him the photo (of the desired look) and he said it should be no problem. He washed my hair gently and led me to his seat politely. The salon vibe was pretty much as others but I had to say that Ah Qiang is the best I ever had. This stylist knows what he's doing for sure. I didn't have to describe what I want, he just made it happen! I heard it's not easy to get a (geometrical) bobcut right but he did it with ease. Mind you, I have thick frizzy hair! I'm so happy that he got it right! I like Ah Qiang's attention to detail and his sense of humor. It was like a hair cut with complimentary standup comedy. Ah Qiang, better than all the stylists I've been to and I would definitely return for another service despite its location. I had a great time & love the way I look. I have been going here for years to get my hair cut and I seriously love it. Inexpensive and quality hair cuts, you seriously cannot find any better. As a UCSD student living in expensive La Jolla, it's freaking impossible to find a decent, inexpensive haircut under $40 so when I come back to SJ for breaks, I always make a visit to get my hair trimmed. Appointments are easy-peasy. Just call in and ask for your preferred stylist and bam. Done and done. They are really flexible as well, I've called an hour prior to change my appointment and was able still able to! Ah Qiang or Chu Giang (same person but I've seen his name spelled two ways on here... as a Viet person I'm pretty sure is Giang BUT OH WELL) is the person who always cuts my hair! This review is for him. He has a sick arm tattoo, you can't miss him. For my usual 1" trim, it takes him around 45 minutes. If your hair is clean, he gets to work right away. If not, shampoo and rinse. Chu Giang is so meticulous in his craft, and the effort really shows. Every time I leave, my hair is so silky and soft with great volume. He has a great eye and offers recommendations on what you should do and what not. I guess the main con is that since he's older and mainly speaks Viet, our conversations are limited but I don't care. Haha. The haircut costs $30 for me and for the amount of time he puts in, totally worth it! I haven't done any hair dying or nails done here but there is always plenty of customers coming in so I guess they're doing something right. read more

Best full service beauty salon in V-town San Jose. This place has it all: haircuts, perms, color, wax, nails, feet, piercing, you name it! I've been going here for the past decade and I live over an hour away! The owners are a Vietnamese couple; David usually mans the front desk, and his girlfriend Jennifer in the first booth. They are tremendously nice, and the entire staff there are awesome at what they do. Two of the best guys, Anthony and Yung have been cutting hair for at least 15 years each, so you can't go wrong with them. My girl loves going here, because they really take their time in cutting her hair. I took my sister here once to have her hair colored, and they did a wonderful job. The prices here are also very cheap, but not without sacrificing quality. I strongly suggest going here on a weekday, because weekends can get pretty crowded. The lady bleached highlights into my moms hair, even though my mom specifically told her only to dye her hair not bleach it. Brown. She wanted another shade of brown. Her hair is already brown. My mom looked at me from across the salon after her hair was blow dried and it looked like she was about to cry. The lady toned it and it was an orangey bronze brown, looked completely different from the picture my mom showed her. Plus, the shop is dirty. The lady doing my moms hair went and helped with a pedicure and she touched someone's feet, went back to my mom and started touching her hair. ----------UPDATE:---------------- my mom has bleach burns around her hairline and behind her ears, the lady didn't apply vaseline to her hairline or behind her ears which helps with reducing the risk of skin burning, i initially deleted this review because i thought it was too harsh. My cousin first took me here about 10 years ago when Bobby was still working here. The hair stylists back then were great but within the past few years this place has gone down the drain. They continuously hire new stylists and most of them seem like they just came over from Vietnam. They could barely speak any English but yet talk so much shit regarding their clients in Vietnamese. As someone who is a bit picky and stern about what I want, Tina never fails to amaze me and give me the results I came for, while all for a reasonable price. I came in a couple days ago to dye my hair for the first time, so I was certainly nervous considering this was my first dyin experience. I wanted something natural, and just slightly lighter than my already dark black/brown hair. And i was extremely pleased with it. I also asked for a new haircut, an angeled bob (long in the front to frame my face, and short in the back) and she did it perfectly. All for $140. I couldn't be happier :))) Thank you Tina! Don't get me wrong, everyone is very nice and talkative but for cuts, they are no good. Doing nails though, they are the absolute best!. They last very long and look very nice. Today was my second time coming to this place the first time my cut was done by Giang and the cut was okay but not exactly how I wanted it........... I have really really long hair and I don't get cuts very often , so today I went in to keep the same length of hair but add a lot of layers and shape up my bangs. Young assisted me he cut my hair EXACTLY how I pictured it in my head for 25$. My four year old came along with me and he was sitting in the waiting area and he got some lollipops and young was being very friendly along with all the other staff. He was very detailed and precise with the way he was cutting my hair and he knew exactly what he was doing. He was being gentle and not tugging and pulling my hair in different directions like some hair stylists do. Very organized and fast! 10 years of experience really shows in his work. I never wrote about this place because I felt it wasn't worth it- but after seeing the two glowing reviews- one of which I feel is fake- I have to speak up. I used to get my hair cut here back in 2001/2002 until they totally F'ed up my hair. I would always have a younger guy named Tony? cut my hair. He was a really nice guy and always did exactly what I wanted. I always had fun chatting with him about random stuff. I always left his chair looking nice. One day the owner suggested someone else because Tony was SWAMPED. That was my mistake. This guy spoke NO English and messed up my bangs horribly. He kept cutting and cutting, and CUTTING! I kept telling him enough- but by the time he stopped it was too late. It was the only time I have ever cried in a salon. Tony saw how upset I was and came over and asked it I wanted him to "fix" my hair. Of course- I said yes! I barely looked at my credit card receipt. I was shaking and wanted to get out of there. People were laughing at me! I realized later that I had been charged me for two haircuts! When I went back they refused to refund my money. Just be careful. The biggest lesson that I have learned from my experience with ESSJ salons is- if the person cutting your hair does not have a viewable license and/or they don't understand you and cannot respond in complete sentences- RUN! read more

My friend recommended that I get a cut here with Anh Giang. I don't like getting a haircut in San Jose because every place that I've tried has ended up in a total disaster. Most hairstylist have been all talk but nothing to show for it. My hair has always ended up with bad cuts and color. Therefore, now my hair is so dried out and dead that I'm in desperate need for a good stylist. So far it seems like I've found my new stylist. He knew what he was talking about when it came to what my hair needed. He recommended that I come back in a month for another trim before deciding to get my hair colored. This way it allows time for my hair to be nourished. I like how Anh Giang doesn't push for my hair colored for this first visit even though he makes more for hair coloring. This shows he is a very honest stylist. As I watch Anh Giang cut my hair I noticed he takes his time by doing the details on my hair. He would cut, blow dry, then cut again. My hair definitely needs the attention. Because I came on a Saturday morning, it was rather busy for him.He had customers coming in constantly waiting to be worked on. Everyone just sat down as they were told to wait because he eventually will get to each one. Though there were people waiting on him, I didn't feel he rushed my cut. He sat down on the chair to cut my hair so that its at eye level. For an hour, he was very focus on my hair. All in all, Anh Giang is an awesome hairstylist with 20 years of experience. When I lived in San Jose I would go here to get my nails done. I would always see Andy because he knew what I liked. It would be difficult to get in to see him a lot because they only have 2 nail stylists. I am not impressed with the salon itself as it is a bit dingy but the service is pretty good. I always enjoyed my time with Andy as he is a great person. It's nice to have someone cool to talk to when sitting for so long. I don't recommend getting waxing done because they messed up my eyebrows and the privacy is pretty non-existant. The prices are good, though and it's nice if you want to treat yourself and are on a budget. Just prepare yourself for a wait and lots of kids running around.
