Saw this place driving by while I was in the area and made it a point to stop back as soon as I was done with what I came out to Moon for. Tiny little takeout service counter with both hot and frozen foods to take home. No dining/seating. Service was very friendly and helpful. I ordered 3 dozen pierogis. Potato & cheese, potato jalapeño & cheese, and hot sausage. Had the potato and cheese the next night and they cooked up beautifully. Not even one broke open while boiling. Thinner noodle and a super velvety potato filling. Wonderful flavor. I will order more soon!

Came here for lunch on a Tuesday and there's was a steady flow of people ordering for lunch and in bulk for the holidays. I got the #1, which is potatoes and cheese pierogi's with stuffed cabbage and green beans. Wish I would have gotten the sour cream on the side. The pierogi's were so tender and had some butter and chopped onions on top. The stuffed cabbage was good with meat and rice inside and a tomato sauce. The green beans were nice and crispy, but no seasoning on those. It was a good serving to fill me up for lunch for a good price. It came out to just $12.29.

3 words: buffalo chicken pierogies!!! I know it's not the most traditional flavor but these were amazing. The second best were the sweet potato pierogies. The traditional flavors like cheese and potatoes were delicious as well. They only do boiled pierogies and have a variety of their dishes like kielbasa or hot sausage goulash. The goulash was yummy but way too large for a single person. It was spread on top of a layer of haluski (cabbage and noodles) which was very filling. This place is truly a gem hole in the wall for great food. We even left with 2 packs of a dozen frozen pierogies to take home.

Great small pierogi shop! I ordered the potato and cheese along with the buffalo chicken both with butter and onions. I wish i would of gotten more frozen! The potato and cheese are like a piece of heaven so airy and delicious. I kind of wish i would've at least ordered a dozen of those hot haha because i'm still thinking about them. I tried to call ahead to avoid waiting inside but the phone lines were busy, should tell you how delicious they are! There is standing room for maybe 5 people tops so i definitely suggest ordering ahead or waiting outside. Overall, if you can...stop by and get yourself some Pierogies!!!! I would even argue taking a drive.

Kavsar is a family-owned restaurant that feels like a hidden local gem and a great escape if you want to try something new. This was my first time having Uzbek food and I really enjoyed it. I ordered the Lagman with beef, Samsa beef, the Kavsar boat with chicken, and a bottle of water. It was definitely a lot of food for one person, but I wanted to try a little of everything and I'm glad I did. Everything tasted fresh, hearty, and homemade. One tip: don't get too full on the main dishes. Save room for the Honey Cake for dessert. It's absolutely worth it and something you don't want to miss. If you're in Pittsburgh and want a cozy spot with great food and welcoming vibes, Kavsar is a fantastic place to check out.

Food comes out pretty quickly and they're attentive in removing empty plate plates just as fast. Quite tasty! As meat eaters, we really appreciated this vegan twist! The pierogi's are an excellent choice for perhaps the less adventurous- yet does not disappoint! The stuffed cabbage was really yummy! And we enjoyed our appetizer- cucumber and radish salad with rye. It made me like radishes again! Simple and fresh ingredients, make for a tasty dinner. Can't wait to come back!

Fantastic vibe in there as well, cool lighting (although something from up above kept falling). It's a highly acclaimed place for a reason. I got to try their beet soup (borscht), tea, potato pancake, and rice pudding dessert. The menu changes decently consistently I believe, and I did visit a little while ago, for notice. The food was very tasty. Huge potato pancake that was cooked perfectly with a nice topping of what I can only describe as vegan sour cream and some sort of very flavorful vegetables. I quite liked it, surprisingly tasty and creamy topping. Now the borscht, which I tend to be picky with, was just okay. The number one detractor for the borscht was the salt level. The food is just far, far too salty (the pancake was pretty salty too). Other than that, quite good. Love the side of rye. The dessert was very good. Surprisingly light. Came with a little caramelized baked fruit on top (apple/pear, something like that). Rice was reasonably creamy and very flavorful. So good! All in all, a nice spot for a nice dinner. Especially great for vegans. However, the food did taste too salty for my liking.

We visited on Father's Day, a bit later in the day. Our server, Anthony, prefaced our ordering with the fact that they've served over 1,000 people that day and some of their items were unfortunately out - like the spaetzles, schnitzels and a few of their popular sandwiches. He shared and went over the large beer, cocktails and drink menu too (which includes mocktails for $5 or so!). To share, we ordered the Giant Bavarian Brezeln (served with North Country Black Bear Mustard and beer cheese) and the crab cake. Both were tasty! The crab cake was full of lots of crab and little breading; the pretzel was perfect and so good with the mustard. For our main dishes, we ordered the Norwegian Salmon with a side salad and mashed potatoes, Roasted Beet salad with chicken (fresh arugula, sweet beets and savory with huge pieces of chicken), Steak salad and kids burger. If I had to choose a favorite out of the few, I'd say the steak salad would be an excellent choice but the others are just as flavorful.. it truly depends on your taste buds. I like how big their menu is, all the side options available plus the endless selection of dressings for your salad. For the little ones, the burger was pretty big and the fries dusted with whatever seasoning is on them were amazing. Everything tasted fresh, looked well prepared and presented and was oh so good. Anthony was on it and very kind and quick to check on us throughout the meal. A historic and popular spot, with plenty of indoor seating at tables and the bar, plus an outdoor patio and bar too. Kid friendly as they can run and play around in the grass area in front of the restaurant. Highly recommend if out for a family day or a late night with friends with beer in hand.
