Food is amazing and serving is on top during busy hour. I feel that owner of this restaurant need to step up his game with plate. People raved about the French Toast here. So we felt compelled to give it a shot. Man we were disappointed. Oversized pieces of tasteless white bread barely battered, served with fake maple syrup. It tasted like frozen French toast sticks to be honest. And these folks need to take a quick trip down the Greune Coffee Haus and study up on what a latte is supposed to be, which doesn't include a mason jar or whipped cream. It was coffee-flavored warm milk at best. The omelette I ordered was horribly overcooked, with raw, cold vegetables on the inside. And the side of over-easy eggs was so runny that the whites were still cold. It gets two stars for the service. Otherwise, avoid this feed lot, unless you're a cow without taste buds. read more

Quick 40 minute wait turned into 25 minutes on a Sunday morning at 10 am. It is our daughters 16th and this was her breakfast choice. The waiting area is nice however we opted to wait in our vehicle. My first time here and I love it. Ordered the chicken fried steak, roasted potatoes and green beans. The portions was a good size. The green beans were so flavorful, I ate those first. We also ordered the chicken fried chicken. It too was a good portion and flavorful. The picture below of the chicken fried chicken reflects a 1/2 portion. My sisters decided to share. And the sweet cornbread with jalapeños had just the right kick. There was a young boy in the booth next to us. He ordered one pancake. The pancake was as big as the plate. It was WOW! My wife and I finally made it out to fork and spoon and we can't wait to go back! The Staff was super friendly and quick even though they were short handed but I would have never known if it wasn't for the sign up front. Now for the food, everything was super delicious! The green chile grits with cheese and sausage was so darn good and probably my favorite item but then again the French toast was some of the best I've had! Not local to the area so I headed to the restaurant on a recommendation. There was a long wait for a table but I was able to sit immediately at the counter. The place definitely has a German town diner vibe, but the food is not greasy spoon. I opted for a mimosa and coffee to start, both of which were good. Then I ordered a side of bacon, two eggs, and one Bacon-Stuffed pancake (believe me, 2 would have been way too much!). Not only is the food well-cooked and home style, but the staff is friendly and welcoming. They're known for their French Toast but I wasn't brave enough to try a serving that big...my check was really reasonable and when I'm in town again, I'll be stopping in. read more

This place is clearly a local favorite. The dining room is much larger than it appears because it continues in an L shape past the counter. I had the Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was a little bit on the sweet side but a touch of lemon made it good to go. But otherwise there was really nothing noteworthy or exciting about the food. You get exactly what you expect and in some places that is of greatest value. Eggs Benedict & a coffee = ~ $20 with tip. Their menu is huge and as I looked around I saw a lot of different types of plates coming out of the kitchen at around noon. Breakfast/lunch/dinner plates. It looks like they can handle a larger party possibly maxing out at around 10 or 12. Popped into this cafe early morning on a weekday and was seated immediately. The interior was cozy & super cute; rustic chic. Exterior has additional seating in the uncovered patio area out front. My son ordered a bacon avocado omelette & I got huevos rancheros. Both were cooked to perfection; even my over medium egg had no runny whites....hallelujah! The huevos rancheros had a healthy twist; black instead of refried beans. But didn't come with potatoes....No!. This made it a much lighter less filling meal, but I have to admit I missed my refried beans & spuds a little. Overall a good dish. My son said his omelette was pretty good, but a little disappointing. You can't name a dish "bacon avocado" & only put less than a quarter piece of avocado on top. C'mon people! But coulda been just a fluke (running low?) since the avocado on my dish was plentiful. Service was decent but the restaurant was under construction so it was a bit chaotic. Overall an A-ok experience. Will have to come back another time & give it another shot after renovations are complete. Happy to eat my words & up the stars! ACCESSIBILITY: Since it's located in a strip mall, there is lots of handicap parking spots. Huge plus! Unfortunately, the spots are not lined up directly in front of the restaurant (one row over in each direction) but that's just the luck of the draw in a strip mall. Weird thing is there is a sidewalk & curb along the entire front of the restaurant and both its neighbors. So if I were using my wheelchair, I would have to go about three stores over to the left to go up the driveway. On the upside, the interior has a large aisle down the center of the restaurant so I think maneuvering inside would be pretty easy. read more

We had previously read the reviews of this local restaurant when we were looking for a new breakfast location in New Braunfels. We came in today and chose a couple of basic breakfast menu items (Bacon Omelet & Biscuits with Sausage Gravy). The omelet was just cooked eggs folded over with ingredients placed within the fold. The biscuits & "sausage gravy" was just cream gravy with chunks of sausage pieces on top. Biscuits were very good. Not terrible but not what we expected from the previous reviews. Stopped by on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Had the bratwurst breakfast skillet with a short stack of bacon pancakes. They were both delicious. My guest had the chicken breakfast skillet and she said it was outstanding. Our waitress was very good considering all the guidelines in place for COVID-19. Stopped in this place on our way to Corpus Christi with a group of 6 because we wanted to try some German food while in New Braunfels. We came in and were seated right away, but we were very close to the party next to us. The other party was very quiet and we felt that the other party could very easily hear our entire conversation. Although Covid isn't as alarming to us being younger, we were probably 2 - 3 feet from the other table and is too close even before the pandemic hit. The servers were very kind and quick with getting us taken care of. My dad and I split the grown up and grilled cheese and the one of the schnitzels. The food was okay, I am not. A big fan of pork so the schnitzel wasn't my favorite, but everyone else seemed pretty satisfied. I was really looking forward to the grilled cheese, but unfortunately there wasn't much cheese at all, barely any at all. The mac n cheese as a side was really good and cheesy. For dessert we got a cheesecake, unfortunately they had left the layer paper in mine and had to get a tiramisu instead. I personally wasn't fond of the German cheesecake. It didn't compare to New York style at all and was pretty bland. They did end up comping the desserts and the price was really cheap for a sit down meal. The food is great but the service is awful. I'm giving two stars instead of one just because the Jäger Schnitzel. Our previous time here we were seated outdoors by the hostess and then sat for twenty minutes without a server coming to the table (while the table next to us had their order taken and food delivered.) When I went inside all the servers were sitting by the bar chatting. Today we went in and were seated on the patio by the host and given menus then another person came out an told us "sorry, we're not serving on the patio today." She was nice but I'm done with this place. Blacklisted. If you want to be treated like crap then this is the place for you. read more

Visited this place while passing through New Braunfels and it was a good stop. I stopped on a Wednesday morning so the place was not busy like on the weekends and I was able to sit and get my food pretty quickly. Since I was in pretty big rush, all I ordered was a cup of coffee and some pecan pancakes which were delicious! I would definitely like to go back and try more items on the menu. Overall I give this place 4 stars as the place was nice, the food had excellent flavor and the atmosphere was nice. I take a star away because of the unfriendly and some what curt and rude server. When I first walked in, there was only 3 people eating in the restaurant. I walked in and asked for a table for two because my colleague was joining me. He immediately said we usually don't sit incomplete parties but ok come over and have a seat here. I was a little taken back by that. Great place to have breakfast! First off, service was amazing. I didn't get the hostess' name but she was so kind all the way around. The waitress we had was Caitlin, and she was amazing. Her section was packed but she was very attentive despite her busy area. I had the chicken skillet, which was delicious. The chicken had so much flavor and was juicy, with the potatoes that were cooked perfectly, sautéed onions and bell peppers. The Hollandaise sauce was delicious. I haven't had many, but theirs makes me feel like I need to have it more often. Very cute place to eat. I highly recommend this restaurant. Ate here last weekend and it was great and the review was reflected in Google reviews. However today was not the case. I love their bacon and so does my wife but today was sad. If bacon could appear on a poster for disappointment and depression it would be the bacon belonging to the Fork and Spoon. There were so many issues with our visit today but the bacon was by far the most heartbreaking.
