Went for Friday fish fry. We were given a choice of 4:15 or 7:30 for a reservation. Took the 4:15 even though if was a little early. I ordered the perch. It was awful. The 3 filets were about a third of an inch thick and very dry. No way was this meal worth $15. Was like eating shoe leather. Won't be back. read more

This was our first visit back since re-opening. The new decor is a bit cool. Kind of felt like we were stepping out of 1980's Nagel print. We opted to sit in the bar for a little more warmth/ambience. We were sad to learn that the French Onion Soup is no longer on the menu. Sigh... However, the Vodka Battered Cheese Curds and dipping sauce were AH-mazing. Light, airy, crispy. My only wish is that they gave you more or the house made Cilantro Lime dipping sauce. Delicious. My guy had the Rueben. It was solid. No complaints from him. I opted for the Fish Tacos. I will tell you the fish itself was awesome; however, the pieces of fish in each taco were so small that it was more tortilla and garnish than anything else. You get three tacos on the long, narrow, plate. It looks beautiful when it comes to the table. But it's awkward. The plate is too small and the tacos are messy. Do yourself a favor and ask for a second plate. You'll need it. My recommendation for the restaurant is to reduce the tortilla shell size so the fish adequately fills the taco and ease up on the overused fluff (garnish). All this being said, we enjoyed our time here and will be back. We'll just try something new. read more

Between a 4 star and 5 star, it is truly a great find in an otherwise sparse area. Add quality food, great service, a very pleasant environment, and it is the perfect go to place. A giant step up from pub food and great for family, friends, or business lunch. Food is fresh and tasty and you shouldn't be disappointed. I had the blackened fish tacos which were very good. For the type of place and location... It is easily a 5-star by comparison/location, and in this category; but I reserve those for a culinary uniqueness or flavor that calls you back again and again and it's what you tell everyone about for the next five days. I wish I could give this place 6 or 7 stars across the board. Service, food, liquor, OMG. The owner even came to our table to ask how things were and if there was anything he could to for us. The cheese curds were awesome. I had the ceder plank grilled salmon with apricot Serrano chili glaze. Truth be told this is not something I would normally dare order in a bar in Wisconsin. But it came highly recommended and it was very tasty and perfectly cooked. My wife had the prime rib special and my son had the mac o cheese. Add in cheese curds for 3 - OMG, 2 shrimp bisque side soups, mixed green salad, 3 slices crusty but chewy bread, 2 beers, 3 Shirley temples and a milk shake for a total of $93 dollars. A great price for the type, quantity and quality of food. I told our bar tender, waitress and the owner that this was my new favorite place and we would be back even though we live a good distance away. My family agrees. One thing to note this place gets busy. The pictures of movie stars from Wisconsin is a nice touch. I was so excited to come back to this establishment. The last time I was here it had just opened... I recall the food being outstanding! This visit, I was thrilled to see the dining room to be updated and the menu full of yummy combinations, including some gluten free items! With it being close to the holidays and a treat for my family and I. To make this short and sweet.... I was disappointed with my taste buds, as they have traveled a long journey to something more discrimating. I should have just cooked at home and saved $60! We didn't even order any scrumptious tempting adult beverages and for 3 meals and an appetizer... The chicken was over cooked and rubbery, the slaw was served in a warm dish. Not to mention the corn bread was served warm yet rubbery and dried out. Mac and Cheese, tasteless. The atmosphere seemed promising, but that isn't always the case. Though our service was great, we had told our waiter that one of us had a Gluten-Allergy. Ordering the appetizer from the get go, our server should have advised our party that this was not GF item. Chicken wings should be able to be GF, as an option... So I thought? The server was advised as well, we were upset with this and a simple shrug of the shoulders and an I'm sorry. Doesn't cut the pain that will come later on. Sadly disappointed. It's not worth the money for three meals and an appetizer that just wasn't up to par. Merry Christmas. read more

Nice, New American style dining, with enough classic dishes to appeal to the traditional diners. The ambiance could use a little work. The decor is very sparse, and the dining area is one big room with hardwood floors, naked walls, and tall ceilings. As such, everything echoes and you can hear the conversation of other parties across the room. We went at 3pm, so it was only ourselves and one other party, but as dinner folks came in it got uncomfortably loud. I would not come here in peak hours. We had the cheese curds for our appetizer, which were a nice departure from standard bread-battered curds at the bar. I think it was a vodka batter, served with house made ranch with lots of dill and garlic. Very tangy, but not overwhelming. I had the Friday fish fry, and it was a fresh and flavorful take on the classic. Their potato pancakes were just perfect, and the slaw was delightful as well. My only issue was that it was a little heavy, with very few veggies to balance the dish. My partner had the make-your-own mac n' cheese, which was very tasty, but the ratio of pasta to toppings was a bit off. The serving was absolutely huge, and I'm honestly surprised that they finished it. There were about 4 cups of pasta, smothered in delicious cheese sauce, but only a handful of chicken and bacon pieces. They were still very tasty, but a smaller portion with more attention to the toppings would have been more satisfying. Again, it was a very heavy dish, but we were expecting that from a mac n' cheese. All in all, a very good casual dining place, definitely a step above any chain restaurant, but the food is somewhat heavy and with huge portions. Similar to a lot of New American places that give you big meaty burgers, deep fried goodness, and lots of fatty flavors. Enjoy it, but perhaps plan to take a few boxes home with you. Besides this place being haunted (which is actually really cool), I have no complaints. All the food here is really really good. Especially the fish fry! We always love going to a place with so much history! I don't know if it is open again yet, after the fire upstairs, but hopefully it will reopen and continue to serve delicious food! read more

It was packed on a Tuesday night! We had a group of 9 and they were able to seat us pretty quickly. Busy and loud, but fun atmosphere. Looks like they might do music in the back room because of the tiles on the ceiling and foam underneath the tables. Amazing food!! Really enjoyed a lovely dinner at this new find! Ambiance was casual yet warm, service was fantastic, menu showed a nice variety, and food had just enough of a twist to be special. We went on Saturday night on St. Patrick's Day, and we only waited about 15 min for a table. The Guinness cheesecake was fantastic, too. First time here for me; my friends say they have been here often and always had good meals. My Italian Greco salad with chicken instead of eggs was very good. Fresh veggies and tender juicy grilled chicken. My friend's fish was over cooked, she said she's had the fish tacos before and they were always awesome. Went here in November and thought it was such a pleasant little place, literally found it in google maps. Drink menu was so fun, Makes me want to go back and try more drinks.. I had the lovely lavender cocktail it was different but still pretty good! My husband had the burger and I had the pork schnitzel all was really well made, definitely great comfort food. I stopped here today for lunch with 5 other co workers and it was amazing! Very friendly staff in a nicely decorated modern environment. Drinks were refilled without having to ask us. We had the spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer and it was some of the best I've ever had. I had the grilled BHB which was a sandwich with ham,bacon,cheese and jalapeno with some fancy sauce and homemade chips. Everything was very good. My mother and I came here the other night for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. We have not been there since they remodel. We both had the filet and it was delicious. The only complaint is the acoustics in the dining room. The dining room is very echoey and at times obnoxiousness. I would hate to hear it on a busy night. read more

Tonight we came to celebrate our anniversary and spent $80.00 in the bar, after spending the time and money in the bar we headed into the dining room for dinner. We wanted to share the special (full rack of ribs $24.75), we were told that she couldn't split the special. I said well, if we ordered one meal and nothing else would that be a problem? The server (Sarah) huffed away...when she came back to fill the water I mentioned her attitude, she said I had attitude for asking for something that was "against the rules ", I explained we had just spent $80.00 in the bar...she till gave us attitude...we got the meal, never checked back with us...terrible service...On the positive side Madeline in the bar was OUTSTANDING! read more

The menu is not your run of the mill bar food by any means. Try the Sammy Sandwich which is a great walleye sandwich. Also one of the best pretzels and beer cheese around. I was very disappointed in the fish fry we had yesterday when the waitress put my plate down in front of me I thought it was OVERCOOKED hot dogs. I don't know where they found these round fish. We had reservations for 7:30pm Saturday for a large group of 14. We were a few minutes early & enjoyed chatting on the porch until we were seated. Kim was our server, she had a fabulous personality & fit in well with our group. She was quick to take our drink orders and returned promptly. We all commented on how tasty our meals were. It didn't matter if it was a sandwich, beef short ribs, mac 'n cheese or the prime rib. All our meals came out of the kitchen hot & together. The soup was amazing! This Spring I applied for a job at a nearby college and was taken here between my plane ride to Milwaukee and my campus tour. It was so unbelievably good that when I got the job and moved to the area, I wasted no time driving out to eat here again. As a self proclaimed Mac and cheese connoisseur, I can say with confidence this is the best I've ever had. Poured on an Idaho baked potato with pulled pork on top, this was a fantastic treat both then and now. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and truly highlights the greatest parts of Wisconsin. Mac. And. Cheese. I cannot say enough good things about it. We even tried to bribe our server for the recipe, and no luck. It's creamy, cheesy, savory, velvety, like no other I've ever had. I love how you can add your own ingredients, but honestly, I love it straight up. It's just that good. The appetizers are wonderful, and the choice of homemade dipping sauces are unique and delicious. The flatbreads are great. The service is great. The drinks are great. We have a lake house in Delavan and make the 30 minute trip just for the food. Keep up the good work guys. read more

I've been coming for over 5 years and driving 30 minutes to get there. Today I had an example of what a first class place this is... I left my Togo on the bar and drove 10 minutes before I remembered. I called and told them what I had done and pulled up and jumped out to reclaim my meal. Somehow, perhaps my meal got discarded, as the bartender didn't really recall where the Togo's were.i was a bit impatient as I hadn't properly parked the car and probably left my door ajar. Within 5 minutes, the bartender waited in the kitchen and then gave me a bag that was piping hot. They had remade my half of meatloaf and my Mac and cheese to go. Never said a word. Never said it was my fault. Just delivered me a bag that was perfectly wrapped and portioned, which was not how I had left my meal. Thank you for going above and beyond. I couldn't talk better about the service or food of your establishment and this is just one of many instances where you have exceeded my expectations. read more

Several great meal options- black and blue tips with stuffed peppers appetizer makes a great small meal, shaken kale salad with chicken was awesome and the mahi mahi was good spicy with the mango salsa (you can order salsa in the side) but we couldn't hear each other talk across the table. They really need to do something about the noise level. No one was obnoxious, it's just not insulated well or something. Don't come here if you expect to have good conversation. read more

We stopped here while on a camping trip near by. The place is super cute inside, but we opted to eat on the patio which was great! The food! The food is just so good here - we all really enjoyed what we ordered. My husband mentions this place often, which is rare for him to like a place enough to keep mentioning it.
