Thank God for Fork in the Road! My family and I were driving from Northern Wisconsin back to Illinois, and it was clear everyone was eager for a break from driving and some lunch. The last thing I wanted was fast food, but we stumbled upon Fork in the Road and were pleasantly surprised. Wonderfully homemade items on the menu with reasonable prices. The decor was adorable and has been modernized. The server was personable, attentive, and was knowledgable about the establishment. The Mac n cheese was awesome! My son who is a picky-eater literally devoured it. I have never seen him do that before at restaurants. Highly recommend it!! read more

This place is our new favorite place to go! We went here based on the reviews and wanted to go somewhere with outdoor dining. Thursday evening we expected a wait, but were seated right away. The drinks and food was absolutely delicious! I had the blueberry moijito. The staff was super attentive...our water glasses were never more than half empty. The menu inst over stimulating with 1,000 choices, which I like. I opted for the garden salad with my meal, which was a full bowl of dark fresh greens, and the kids had the house salad that was tempting to try! The salads came out with hot salted bread. Thursday's special was "pig roast on a platter" and I was surprised at the amount of meat that came out on this plate! My daughter had the parmesan crusted tilapia and my son had the meatloaf - they both enjoyed their dishes greatly. Everything came out hot and fresh.We enjoyed this place so much - not a single complaint! Try the salted caramel cheesecake, you wont regret it! Next time I am trying the build your own mac-n-cheese! It's one of the best things going in the greater Waukesha area! They have the French farm house ale by Lakefront on tap, Rendezvous, plus several others including Spaten's Optimator. While most of the food was still good, the short ribs were improperly prepared and potatoes were bland. Basic brown gravy on short ribs? Should be a sweet red wine glaze. We walked in on a Sat night around 6 pm and were able to get seated right away. We sat in the back, on the patio. Inside, it seemed very noisy so I was glad to be sitting outside. The mosquito's did start to become a problem, though. Aside from that, our food was decent. Our drinks were good. I got 2 rounds of their Sangria and my husband tried the different Ale beers. Our appetizer of onion strings was good! For our meals, I got the filet and he got the prime rib. The salads that come out w/ the meal--get the house salad because it is VERY good! Mine had grapes and nuts along w/ their dressing and it was delicious. My husband got a basic house salad, though, with just lettuce and grape tomatoes, so I think it depends on what kind of dressing you get. I can't remember what my dressing was called...lemon something...I was hesitant b/c I don't like lemon flavor, but it's a mayo base and I couldn't taste the lemon (or mayo) at all. It was like a fruity, summer salad! My filet was well done, despite ordering it medium rare. It was still juicy enough, though. I didn't like the flavor. Not sure if it's the seasoning or the butter they use. The baked potato and asparagus were as good as you can expect. My husband didn't care for his prime rib. It was cooked fine, he just didn't like the flavor. I think our lack of satisfaction w/ our meats was due to personal preference in taste, though. Our waitress surprised us by bringing us the torte dessert, on the house, b/c she knew the mosquito's were bad, so that was nice. It was very good! So, for our 4 drinks, 1 soda, appetizer, filet, and prime rib meals, our bill was just under $100. Not bad, in my opinion. All in all, despite not caring for the meats, we would come back to try the other food on the menu. This was our first time here. First time trying fried curds and they were yummy. I paired it with chipotle ranch dressing that was homemade and a strawberry balsamic vinaigrette. I recommend the fried goat cheese salad. Fish was blackened and set on a bed of lettuce nestled into either corn or flour tortillas with guacamole and Sriracha sauce on the side. Chose the chips as my side dish. The pork is served with mashed potatoes and roasted corn on the cob, the meat loaf is toppped with fried onion strings, the salads are served with a generous side of crusty bread. No detail is too small and no details are missed. We cannot say enough good things about Fork In The Road. The service is great, the drinks are as well done as the food...and they even have etch-a- sketches to keep the kiddies happy. While travlling through Wisconsin, this is one of our favorite stops. Yummy food and fine service at a very reasonable price! Our party of five had a variety of salads, sandwiches, entrees, and alcoholic beverages. I would recommend all we had: cedar plank salmon, burgers, brisket, fried chicken, cheese curds. The sides were nicely done: fries, creamy garlic mash, asparagus, coleslaw, side salad with crispy greens, sugar walnuts, red grapes and a tasty house dressing. We had drinks and all told the bill was less than 23 bucks each without tip. Very lovely attentive service. Friendly open atmosphere. We love the food at the Fork! We went there tonight for dinner and waited 45 mins for a table (not a big deal) and were seated and waited on immediately. We ordered our food and an app and proceeded to wait another 50 mins until our entrees came. The seasoned server (she's waited on us before) apologized and said they were short staffed in the kitchen. Our food had been sitting awhile, my salad was warm and my daughter's Mac and cheese was lukewarm. She offered us dessert on the house for our wait, we declined. We were a little disappointed the owner didn't come over and apologize, and that the server didn't apologize or check on us during the wait. We were there with our VERY patient toddler, and obviously don't get out much. We're hoping our service is better next time, as it may be awhile before we go back. read more

So good! Husband and I stopped in on Monday on our way back from a road trip. We started with the cheese curds which had a light, airy batter which was a compliment to the gooey cheese. They were not heavy like other cheese curds which was dangerous because you could easily down the whole platter. I had the portobello wrap which basically has everything that is delicious inside of it: feta, hummus, guac, black bean salsa, and of course the mushrooms. Too expensive for the average joe, their hand breaded chicken had no seasoning, when queried the manager he said that is store bought breading, so their chef can't add seasoning? Also the garlic mashed potatoes tasted like paste. The cheese that was in the chicken wrap was like starch and had to be taken out in order to eat it. Manager offered to comp the breaded chicken meal but never did. Chef Ramsey would be appalled!! Will never patronize again and would not recommend if you had expectations of quality food at a fair price, go elsewhere!!! read more
