Wow this place was awesome. I don't consider myself a foodie but I'm spoiled by some great restaurants in the Milwaukee area so the bar is usually set pretty high when I eat out. A friend and I met up here. The atmosphere was cozy/fresh with a little bit of a modern feel. The dinner I had was excellent (catfish) and I also had the loaded Bloody Mary for a treat. For apps we had the spinach artichoke dip which were served with the most perfectly fried, seasoned pita wedges. If you're driving through Mukwanago, give this place a shot. read more

The only bad thing I can say about this place is that they are not open for breakfast. Everything I've tried on this menu is out of this world! We went on a Saturday night and the place was jammed packed, we waited at the bar, had an old fashion (which was made to perfection) and waited for about 45 minutes. Favorite place in Mukwonago- hands down! Favorite dishes are the brisket melt (add tomatoes), the black bean dip, black and blue tips, all the homemade soups, and the chicken bacon ranch wrap. The salads are also wonderful (go for the house salad and add chicken crunch to it!) but they discontinued my favorite salads- the fried goat cheese salad and the beet meets goat salad. read more

One of the best fish fry meals I've ever had!! Everything was fantastic-the appetizer (which sounded weird but was excellent) homemade chips with vinegar, salt and pepper and soft boiled egg drizzled over. Yum! Been here a few times over the years, everytime hopeful there has been improvement.... sadly so much potential, but the mark is missed. Never horrible, but mediocre. pleasant staff, but the freshness runs par with Applebee's type restaurants. Please focus on chef prepared food and not on pre packaged food. This place is perfection. My fiancé and I were looking for a local small business to stop and support while in town from Central Illinois. The already high reviews is what attracted us here. I ordered the fish tacos, and he, the hand breaded chicken. We decided to cut the waiting list and opt for a crowded bar seat, where Bill, the bartender, exceeded our expectations of service and hospitality. We later found out, the man pouring endless amounts of water behind the bar was in fact the owner. We shared stories with him and enjoyed his humble, welcoming company. Every other time there - wonderful. We drive 20 miles for their Mac n Cheese. To night the fish was off and required sending back. Went for the fish tacos. Took 2 more orders to get anything edible. They were super nice but I received my hamburger as she was taking my dates empty plate never asked that anything be given for free to compensate for the delay AND NOTHING WAS. OMG!!! What a little jewel in Mukwonago!! We were passing through and decided to stop for lunch today. The staff and service was excellent! They made you feel very welcomed. Our waitress Lori was outstanding! She KNEW everything on the menu. I get so upset when I a waitress says, "I'll have to check". Lori KNEW! We sat on the back patio, which was great! We both had the Friday fish fry along with side salads. We expected the usual lettuce and cucumber - but we were surprised with lovely mixed greens, tomatos, red onion and the dressings were terrific! The crustini of bread that came with the salad was to die for! Our fish was wonderful as well. My husband ordered the perch and potato pancakes. I had the cod and fries. Both came with cole slaw and rye bread that was fantastic! I tried hubby's potato pancakes and had wished I had ordered them! They were the best I have had EVER! I visited this restaurant for the first time with my boyfriend and his family for his father's birthday a couple weeks ago. The owner was very friendly and demonstrated the appreciation he has towards his customers. The staff was informative and delivered excellent customer service. The food was great! It was absolutely delicious. We went on a Saturday, so of course a couple members of our group went for the prime rib special, which was delicious. I tried out the rochester burger with black and white fries. I really enjoyed the options of fries they had on the menu. I highly recommend this restaurant. I will definitely return! read more

Finally got back to Fork in the Road since it reopened. Went specifically for the Special Pig Roast on a Platter. The place looks great, is a bit brighter with better air circulation and as busy as ever. Two of us had the Special, one with a side salad with mixed greens, grapes, sweet walnuts and lime-mayo dressing, while the other had with of the day, a tex-Mex corn and chicken soup. The player consists of pulled pork roast, home made mashed potatoes with gravy and cob of parmesan aioli sweet corn. I'm not sure my son actually got mashed potatoes they were gone so fast. The other two ordered one of his vegetarian favorites, home made Mac & Cheese pumpkin soup. Final person ordered a burger, cooked perfectly to order and topped with onion strings. Tried to place a carry out order tonight... was told they no longer took orders over the phone. Had to come to the bar and order and sit and wait for the food. With two young kids who do not always do well in restaurants, this is the reason for a take out order. Ordering and waiting in the establishment kind of defeats the purpose, no? Can't believe how excited I am over a salad! This was the best salad I have ever eaten! I had the ROASTED CHICKEN AND PEAR salad, minus the cheese (dairy intolerance), and it tickled my taste buds. I saw the salad on the menu and thought, "I don't know about only ordering a salad..." but this was anything but only a salad. There was tons of chicken, but the salad did not taste like chicken, but like a marinated wonderland. The pears were spiced, the nuts were caramelized, and the overall flavor new and exciting. Worth the detour off of 43! We stopped on a Monday night while driving through the area, and we were completely shocked by the delicious food and friendly service. The house salad FAR exceeded my expectations; an unusual dressing, grapes, and sweet walnuts were a sensational combination. My husband had the prime rib sandwich, and said it was the best he's had. Under new ownership. No longer has "all you can eat" fish fry, so disappointing. Additional pieces of fish are available for $3 each. Portions have gotten a bit smaller. Still has the famous house salad dressing which is fabulous. Still an OK restaurant but not a 'favorite' anymore. read more

Sorry, my mind has been changed! We went here pretty religiously for 5 years. Recently they had a huge party in the back room and actually seated guests back there also. The food which has alsways been great, we had to send back 3 times. We used to love this place and recommended it to anyone, but we were just another customer that night and it left a bad taste, that I can't overcome. Probably won't go back which is sad, they have great food and the owner who has always been a great guy, didn't really appreciate our business any longer as evidenced by where we were seated and the room temperature prime rib (3X)..... I've been to this place in years past, and will continue to frequent it occasionally in the future. Slightly above average, nothing that I would rate vastly superior to others. What I take offense with are the continual "wonderful, glowing" reviews that seem to be posted time and time again, same writing style, etc.... And subsequent slams on others that degrades good local establishments and pumps his up. I generally don't look at reviews to determine where I'm taking my wife for dinner and/or drinks, and I think the vast majority don't either. We don't care to see over and over again how great your mac and cheese is and about the wonderful owner. I ordered the thursday special (pig on a platter) with no onions and our server Lori served our salads and waited about 20 minutes until our food was about to come out to tell me that it had onions in it and could not be served with "no onions". Not wanting to make the rest of my hungry group wait for our server to bring me back a menu and reorder I just said "fine, I don't want to make a hassle" and ended up only eating the salad which was good, some bland mashed potatoes, and mediocre garlic aioli corn. Staff and service were great even on a very busy Friday night. I have been here before for lunch and it's been very good. This was my first fish fry and it was disappointing. The potato pancakes are obviously frozen not made here. The fish was like two large fish sticks and also seemed like a frozen pre made variety. Based on the other Yelp reviews of this site and several verbal recommendations, we must have hit an "off day". Except for the staff, we were almost the youngest people in the joint for lunch - we should have worn our grey wings and asked for separate checks! The remodel is nicely done but the dining area is crowded with tables pushed together to maximize seating and the acoustics are terrible. The menu is nice and service was attentive. They did bring the wrong meal for my wife and my meal was cold by the time they corrected it. We spent 90 minutes for lunch - I guess they think everyone who stops by has nowhere else to go. read more
