We needed an electrician to install a NEMA1450 for our new Tesla. It was between Christmas and New year, I called several electricians with great Yelp reviews. No one answered because of the holiday, except for Roger. He personally answered and came out the same day to give me a quote. It turned out that our main panel was really old and would be a hazard to put on more load, He would not proceed because of the danger, unless we upgraded the panel, which we agreed to, as our neighbors have mostly upgraded years ago and as we had not long ago added a big load for the air conditioner. He gave a quote right away including permitting. The price is very reasonable compared to another quote by email/pictures only from a Tesla approved installer that we got later. The install date was postponed 2 times because of rain or PG&E cancelling the appointment. The job involved raising our power line on the roof up by 2ft and trimming trees in the way. Each time Roger communicated ahead and scheduled a new appointment. The job took a whole day. We chatted often as he worked. We found out that Roger is not your typical electrician. He's got a MSEE degree and work experience at PG&E! Roger is so pleasant to talk to. He really enjoys the work and meeting people. Roger and his crew (two others) came out to our house to * replace 100 amp panel with a new 200 amp panel that is solar ready * install a Tesla charger * install an exterior outlet over the front door. He took care of the permit, demoing the old wooden panel box, patching the stucco, and painting the stucco and conduits to match the house. Everything was done in one day, which was convenient. I really liked the fact that he is very knowledgeable about Tesla solar roof and was able to give me some useful advice. One of his crew member discovered a water leak under the house while installing the ground wire in the crawl space and shared the photo with me. I was very grateful for this since I hate to waste water but more importantly, moisture attracts termites. Very pleased to have contacted Roger to have the electrical work done at our garage. I contacted Roger by phone and asked for a rough estimate to install a NEMA 14-50 outlet using a new 40 amp circuit for our Aug Tesla Model S delivery. He quoted a figure and I requested him to come by and visually inspect the home and evaluate. When he came and the work very simple, he reduced his fee considerably which was in my budget. Had a minor electrical problem, but when we researched our breaker box we got worried. Sent a photo of the box and explained what happened. Roger gave me a quote right away which was very reasonable. He finished another job early and told me he would be there at 1pm. He showed up early with two assistants all in uniform. He fixed the original problem. We still wanted the breakers replaced. They finished everything in about two hours. Their work was extremely neat. At times, all three were working in the same cramped space, which is now cleaner than before they started. We had an old fuse sub-panel that had a small fire and needed to be replaced. The second sub panel and our main panel were also fire risks. After having a small fire in the panel we least expected to have a problem in we decided to get everything fixed at once. Roger was the third to come out to quote the job but he was the first to actually give us a quote. Roger replaced one of the subpanels and combined the other sub panel with a new 200 amp main panel. They left the job site cleaner then when they arrived. Roger was super responsive during the entire time from hiring him to the day of the job. He answered his phone every time. Not as responsive with text messages, but he did write back. He had worked with the city to get the permit and also scheduled the inspection for the main panel upgrade we hired him for. His crew worked fast, and completed the job in 4 hours, including city and PGE inspection. We had a problem with our kitchen outlets not working after plugging in an old crock pot. Normally, turning on/off switch on electrical panel would fix the problem. However, this time it didn't work and we couldn't figure out why. My aunt referred us to Robert and luckily he was able to help us over the phone.
