They started my treatment by quantifying imbalances with a proprietary series of motion tests captured and analyzed in real time. They used the results and my doctor's suggestions to curate a sustainable pre and post operation rehabilitation program that fit me. I required custom at-home regiments to improve hip, spine, neck, and ankle mobility on top of recovering from knee surgery. Kathleen delivered this for me along with masterfully employing their Redcord technology during in-person sessions. She has an incredible ability to create intuitive movement cues that stuck in the outside world (I highly recommend her). The NEUBIE system combatted pain and ensured that I improved every session. Finally, Lisa Marie helped me submit out-of-network claims that got partially re-imbursed! This was a huge savings for me, along with my ability to exercise again! Thank you Kim!

This place will absolutely change your life…read more I first went to Physical Therapyworks 15 years ago - my back was killing me because I sit at a desk all day. After 10 sessions, my back pain was completely gone and they'd given me a list of stretching exercises that I have done twice a day every day since then. I went back to Physical Therapyworks a few weeks ago. I'm 65 now and my lower back aches every morning when I get up. I was afraid this would be my permanent condition. But Michelle diagnosed me and showed me new stretches I needed to add to my daily routine. Then I had 10 sessions with Brit, who made sure I was doing the stretches correctly and getting to the right muscle groups. 6 weeks later, my back pain is gone and I feel like myself again. This place is truly transformative. I can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you, Michelle and Brit, you have changed my life.

Just days before I was scheduled for surgery, I decided to give Dr. Carr's therapy a chance. She cured/healed my knee and now--a decade later--it remains fine. Further, my involvement with full-contact Martial Arts and training/completing ten marathons exposed me to unique injuries. I gladly credit Dr. Carr for PT mastership on my back, shoulder, and two toe injuries. Do yourself a huge favor, visit Dr. Carr as part of your decision process when considering treatment options.

Surgery, avoided!…read more Dr. Carr is an outstanding physical therapist who is knowledgable, intuitive, and caring. I had a great experience working with her as she helped me recover and regain full function after my injury. While practicing with my Division 1 tennis team, I suffered a complete (non retracted) tear to my ACL along with a meniscus tear and bone bruising. After scheduling ACL surgery, I needed to select a physical therapy provider to work with pre and post surgery. Having had my share of sports-related injuries over the years, and experiencing insurance-driven overcrowded PT facilities, I was looking for a PT who offered a more integrated and personalized approach for my pre-hab, and re-hab. Then I found Dr Carr via her website. Dr Carr's therapy practice is a soothing boutique-style space to heal. Her range of modalities are gentle, and the re-training exercises she prescribes are effective. She is also a walking encyclopedia on nutrition and supplements. She is the picture of health, so she walks the talk. As my surgery date approached, the thought of surgery and my ACL being replaced by a cadaver tendon freaked me out so much that I cancelled my ACL/ meniscus surgery. But I continued therapy with Dr. Carr. Dr. Carr suggested I might seek a second opinion and look into stem cell/PRP regenerative treatment. I was interested, so she referred me to a leading functional medicine doctor. Long story short, I was a candidate for the procedure, and it was a success! My follow-up MRI revealed my ACL was intact and the meniscus was healed! The combo of the procedure and Dr Carr's treatments and exercises got me back to playing tennis again. P.S.: Since the ACL journey went so well, I decided to have the stem cell/PRP procedure done for a chronic foot issue I had been living with for years. Again, under Dr Carr's care, she guided me through the healing process and I am back to doing the activities I love.

During the appointment, the physical therapist asked about my medical history, but her demeanor, facial expressions, and comments made it feel like she had already decided she was not going to treat me. And, I was right, she refused. I had to specifically ask for more of an assessment and a full evaluation; however, she would only do a partial eval in the end. The therapist told me I was fine, that I had probably pulled a muscle, that I should go back to my doctor, and that I did not need physical therapy. I left feeling dismissed and unheard. The appointment also ended unprofessionally. The therapist walked out and moved on to her next patient without clearly ending the session. At the front desk, the staff member was on what appeared to be a personal call and responded rudely when I tried to check out. Two weeks later, I received a second opinion and a thorough evaluation at another physical therapy center, where the therapist was surprised by how my concerns had been handled. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Rehab Specialists, especially for younger women seeking women's health-related care or a careful, thorough evaluation.

After extensive research on Google, Yelp, and through word of mouth, trying to find a place that…read moreoffers a truly comprehensive running analysis; along with actionable solutions to address any issues....we found Athletic Lab, and it exceeded our expectations. The assessment was for my 15 1/2-year-old son, who runs long distance for his high school cross country and track & field team (3-mile, 1600m, and 3200m). Since he is still actively growing and had been experiencing some pain under both knees, we wanted to evaluate his form, strength, and any areas needing improvement. Our goal was to help him stay injury-free, improve efficiency, and avoid wasting energy as he continues developing as a runner. From the online intake form to the follow-up communication by email and phone, the entire process was professional, efficient, and seamless. The location is a little tucked away in a quiet office area, but there are 5-6 parking spots and we've always found a space available (a huge plus in LA). The spots are a bit tight, but parking alone is a win. The facility itself is incredible: bright, open, modern, and aesthetically designed, with high ceilings and a large garage door that opens for fresh air (a big contrast to some clinics that can feel stuffy). It's equipped with all the latest technology and everything you'd expect from a top-tier sports performance facility. Athletic Lab PT also has private meeting rooms, two well-stocked restrooms with thoughtful essentials like hair ties and deodorant, a shower for those needing to head to work after a session, a mini fridge stocked with hydration and snacks, and a comfortable front seating area for parents waiting during appointments...as I have to sit and wait for my son when he has a session. Dr. Alley Gray performed my son's running assessment, and she was fantastic. She measured his mobility and flexibility, conducted a detailed treadmill gait analysis with photos taken from every angle, and tested his strength in multiple ways. Afterward, we received a thorough report outlining her findings, along with clear recommendations on how to address the issues and an estimated treatment plan. The overall goal was to optimize my son's running mechanics, power, and efficiency so he can stay healthy and continue pursuing his goal of running in college. Dr. Alley Gray is incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and understanding of my son's needs. He genuinely enjoys working with her, which says a lot. We've been extremely happy with our experience at Athletic Lab PT and highly recommend them to any serious athlete looking to improve performance and prevent injuries.

Well, that was true until I found Athletic Lab. Dr. Lauren and Dr. Alyssa are both amazing physical therapists. I see Lauren on a regular basis and she has helped me eliminate or reduce pain with a recurring hip issue (funny story here) and some knee issues from improper heel strike when running. In addition, I own a gym in Santa Monica called Sweat 60 (shameless plug). I send all my clients to Athletic Lab for any issues we are not able to solve. They work in step with our programming to make sure our clients are back to 100% in the least amount of time. If you are looking for a solid team of physical therapists that actually get results fast and effectively, Athletic Lab is the place to go in Santa Monica.
