The old Army Officer housing when this was an Army post. The homes are split into duplexes. They are two story units with living room and kitchen downstairs and bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. You need to come here with the expectation and understanding that these homes are a century old. They maintain them and keep them looking historic. That's the charm and appeal of these rentals. This is not a 5* Hyatt so the other reviews that bash this place need to temper their expectations. The location location is perfect. A short walk to the park and beach. There is a road that takes you along the homes to the conference center and beach. The pool is only open in the summer. Love watching the sunset from the beach here. The home is old and floorboards squeak. But that should be expected. Decor is in keeping with the history of the building. Board games were available and a book on the history of the base and homes was a cool read. read more

I went for a two night stay with my husband and grandparents, and we really enjoyed our time here. The check in process was very easy, and we were able to get into our unit early as no one was there before us. We stayed in Unit 8, and chose it specifically because it said there was a shower/tub combo. While I would have enjoyed a soak in a big clawfoot tub, I wanted to make sure my grandparents were comfortable getting in and out of wherever we were bathing. It was perfect, and would be perfect for those with kids too. There are plenty of easily accessible trails with great views right out the front door. The kitchen was big and well stocked with cooking supplies, but we only ever used it to cook breakfast. We would often drive into nearby Coupeville for lunch and dinner, and there were plenty of great things to eat there! It's also within a very short drive of the trails at Eby's Landing. The views are amazing. It was still cool when we visited, but we could see how it could get hot. You don't really need A/C up in the Northwest, but a fan would be nice! We're used to sleeping with a fan, so we had to use a fan app on our phone because it's so quiet out there. The WiFi was good for what little we used it for (checking email and facebook mostly). Saw a lot of wildlife, including a mama deer and her two fawns. Overall, we had a very great time and hope to come back. read more

One of the most relaxing Weekend Getaways we've had in a long time. We finally decided to check out the beautiful, historic buildings that we've admired over the years near Ebey's Landing on Whidbey Island. The old, restored officer quarters of Fort Casey (1900-1950ish) is now the Fort Casey Inn. We stayed in one of the end units, up against the forrest. It doesn't matter which unit you stay in, there are deer every dusk and dawn. They did a great job on the units. A lot of old furniture from that era, added with the modern conveniences (gas fireplace, kitchen appliances, baseboard heaters, etc) make for a comfortable stay. The bedrooms are beautiful with lace curtains outlining the pane glass windows. So beautiful to watch sunrises colors while in the comfy bed. Our bathroom had a tub and hand shower head. The water got to temperature quickly. It was quite easy having the tub instead of shower. It's a great set up. Also.. the towels are plush and soft. The best room is the living room in front of the gas-fired, cast iron stove. The room is filled with gorgeous old furniture to remind you of the era. Lots of old photos and decor with the military theme make you feel like you've slipped back in the era. We had no TV or radio, but you won't miss it. BTW wifi was very good. A very easy walk through the long athletic field of Camp Casey will bring you to a path over to the Admiralty Light House and then to Fort Casey. You can also walk down the the beach filled with perfect skippng stones for a relaxing walk. Walk a bit further and you can take the Keystone Ferry over to Port Townsend where Fort Casey's sister Fort Warden is located. We had such a good time, we can't wait to come back! If you want a peaceful, relaxing weekend with nature and a flare of mililary history, this is the place to go. read more

I was so fortunate to be able to stay on this property the entire length of my contract with the hospital. The picture perfect location, along with the sweet deer, bald eagles, the cutest bunnies ever, and the historic knowledge you gain, makes this a must stay property. Just got back from a 3 day stay at the Fort Casey Inn. First the good stuff. Pros: Everyone employee we met was helpful and kind. From the check in to the pool house and lifeguards. I am betting they are college kids. Finding the location right off the ferry is easy and check in is painless. Beds are firm, but fairly comfortable adequate pillows and blankets provided. Everything is clean and in working order. Stay is reminiscent of what it would be like in the 1900's for the most part. Walk to beach is not too far, you can even walk to the bunkers which is pretty far and steep and narrow at some parts but my 4 year old did it so it can't be that bad. We saw so many deer and bunnies! Many beautiful paths to hike with beautiful views. No TV was nice! Cons: House much smaller than the pictures make it appear to be. No screens on the windows and no a/c. There are screens in the closet you can put up yourself, but the windows are hard to open and it a little bit of a hassle when you are exhausted from walking miles and miles. Sheets smell really strong of detergent or fabric softener (I use unscented detergent) had trouble sleeping because of it the first night. Bring allergy medicine! Stairs are really steep and frankly annoying when your on vacation and there is only one bathroom, upstairs. Tub a little difficult to navigate really high up, no shower curtain. No blinds or shades and the sun just blares in the window at 4am. Makes it a little difficult to sleep. We have a family of 5 and there is only 5 chairs at the table and when someone is next door, you only get your side of the porch, so only two chairs. There are no pillows on the couch or anything to make it more comfortable. Really could have used a fan. No board games or puzzles. That would have been helpful. For 185 dollars a night, I can say I stayed in a really old house, and it was a NCO's house 100 years ago. But, we'll only be doing that once. read more

Fort Casey Inn is a very nice and quaint place to stay. Old military officers quarters (houses) renovated into homes to stay while you're on vacation or just passing through. Owned and operated by Seattle Pacific University. We were surprised to be greeted by three deer in the yard when we arrived. Very reasonable rates to bring the whole family. I will give this a 5-star based on the fact that it is nicely theme decorated, extremely unique and very secluded. No need to check in at a front desk, key left in a lock-box for you. Beautiful place to stay. You can't beat the location. Walk to the beach, the Coupeville Ferry (over to Port Townsend), Ft Casey Park and the lighthouse. A short drive to the Coupeville wharf and waterfront. The Inns are beautiful. It's like stepping back into time. This is my favorite place to stay when on Whidbey island . The houses are not what a lot of people are looking for ( not a ton of amenities) but for people who appreciate history or vintage architecture, this is the place to be. The staff are wonderful (Patty is lovely to work with), place is kept neat and tidy, and the views out your windows are beautiful. This is my Happy place when I need to get away. This time I spent my birthday and New Year's Eve and I could not be happier. Just a hop, skip and a jump to the Port Townsend ferry which is awesome. read more

My daughter wanted to have her Wedding at Fort Casey and we stopped in Fort Casey Inn to talk with the manager Robyn. Not only did they have wonderful cozy, cottages to rent, with amazing views. We were able to get Garrison Hall, which was an amazing community spot for both the bride and grooms family. Robyn, was instrumental in making an amazing experience for our families and friends, before, during and after my daughters wedding. Fort Casey Inn is run by some amazing folks, who truly care about their customers. We could not have asked for a better event and venue. read more

We decided on a last minute over night trip to Whidbey Island and stumbled across the Fort Casey Inn online. Check in was super quick and effortless and we had the key to our room/Apartment in a matter of minutes. Upon entering we noticed the lovely charm it had. It was decorated with the age of the Inn in mind. Others have commented that they smelled a musty smell or mildew smell. We did not notice this AT ALL! There was a full size kitchen, a living room with several seating options, a gas stove, two bedrooms and bathroom. The water pressure was not great but remember, this is a 100+ year old building. If I had to come up with something that I didn't like I would have to say I would have liked darker curtains as the light from the outdoor lighting was a little bright. Also, the skillet in the kitchen was TINY so it was almost impossible to cook in it. Since the Inn is part of Camp Casey we had access to a swimming pool (we didn't utilize this) and a private beach which offered a perfect sunset in the evening. We loved the Inn, we would recommend it to anyone! We will be back! read more

The Fort Casey Inn has the ability to be a wonderful place for a getaway weekend. Each unit has charm and many are large enough to house your entire family. The downside is that we found it to be extremely dirty. As we entered our unit we were greeted by a large pile of bird droppings directly in front of the door. The bathroom tub wouldn't drain, the caulking was covered in mold and mildew, the faucet on the sink was surrounded by black goo and the carpet was very dirty. We had our 7 month old grandson with us and we couldn't put him down on any surface! The water smelled bad and tasted worse! Some deep cleaning and a water filter would make a huge difference. Our stay was March 3-5, 2012 When my sister and I decided we wanted to take a Spring vacation weekend we thought about the Coupeville Mussel Festival since it had recently been featured in our Sunday paper's travel section. Maggie has actually lived on Whidbey Island for a couple years while her first husband was in the Navy and stationed there. I, on the other hand, had never visited the area and was much more familiar with the other coast (read Main, Massachusetts, New Jersey...). Anyway, this was a chance to get out of the Tri-Cities and see some trees. The festival sounded like fun too! This review isn't about the festival however I'll come back to that another time. I want to share with you folks my comments about the place we stayed named Fort Casey Inn a couple miles out to town and many years removed from today's concept of a hotel. I really want to take this time to review the Inn since many of the reviews I read while looking for a place to stay were so negative. For the record, we stayed in unit 1 in the first house and it was certainly quite clean. I can't tell you the condition of any of the other units. We almost didn't go here because of all the comments from previous guests who said the place was dirty. I even called back after making our initial reservation and spoke with Patty just to ask if she was aware of the bad comments and what her thoughts were. She assured me she had stayed there herself and would do so again if the opportunity arose. So, with some lingering concern we kept our reservation and decided to make the best of it. Go, stay and if it was not what we expected, never come back. I am so happy we decided to stay there. These houses are exactly as described in the literature with lovely front porches and comfortable Adirondack chairs to sit and take in the view of the fields and marshland rolling toward the bay in front of the house. Each house is a two story duplex unit. The kitchen is a typical old country kitchen with a huge window over the small dining table, tall wooden cabinets and some period knick knacks. There is ample kitchenware, an electric stove, microwave oven, fridge toaster even a cork screw and wine glasses. There is dishwasher and plenty of supplies. Caution, when you enter the house you come in from the backdoor into an enclosed porch area and there is a tendency to carry in pine needles and other debris from the outside if it's been raining. There is a broom and dustpan to tidy up so you don't drag stuff into the living room and kitchen. From the kitchen you enter the living room that has a gas fired free standing stove that provides plenty of heat and a great deal of charm for the for the romantically inclined. There is no internet, phone or TV. This place is perfect for getting away from the nonsense of our daily lives and just sitting back and relaxing. Sitting out front on the porch with a glass of wine after dinner listening to the night sounds was so peaceful. And the fresh scent of the forest and rain on the air just after spring rainfall was more that we could have expected. The second floor has a bathroom and two bedrooms. Please note, the stair treads are VERY narrow and you should be careful here. This is typical of older houses of this era. Additionally, be careful when you first come downstairs. Since the ceilings are quite high and rooms so tall the stairwell is not just steeper than you're used to but there are more stairs than the average house. Both my sister and I stumbled with the last few steps the first time and we both commented on it, just a note of caution. OK, here is the bad part. The term bed and board must have been invented for the mattresses. That is the only really negative thing I have to say about our experience. The mattresses in both bedrooms were the hardest I've ever seen. So make a note. There is plenty of hot water in the bathroom and there is an old fashioned, cast iron, claw footed bath tub. I did ask Debbie about a shower in the house since I prefer a shower and some of the literature had stated that a couple of the units only had bathtubs. I was assured our unit had a shower. Well, it did but it was one of those hand held units that are almost useless except for rinsing out the tub after taking a bath. Yes, I was disappointed with not having a legitimate shower but I made the best of it. The bottom line here is that this is a wonderful, charming, quiet and peaceful place to stay in amongst the tall pines with lovely views and few distractions. It's clean and well maintained and the staff is very nice. I'd go back I a heartbeat and just might for next year's Mussel Festival. read more
