Stayed in the Onward room at anchorage inn last night and it was absolutely lovely, despite a power outage and stormy day on Whidbey Island. Maggie welcomed me with sunset chat, showed me my room, and provided me with a flashlight before she set up the generator. Enjoyed chatting with the other visitors staying there, girl talk late into the evening. As a Navy gal myself, I really loved chatting with Maggie who was a pioneer in the Navy herself. I've lived in Coupeville and Oak Harbor for 4 years always wanting to stay at the Inn. Moving away today and enjoyed my last night on the island at the inn. Will be back!

This place is the cutest! The Innkeepers are very nice and welcoming as soon as we walked in. The view from the Inn is great and it's only a short walk down to the water front from here. The air base close was practicing carrier landings in the afternoon and later that night, but it wasn't all night so it really wasn't all that bothersome. And the sunset we got up here was amazing! So much open sky! If we're ever out this way again, we're staying here for sure!

My husband surprised me for our Wedding Anniversary with an over night stay in Coupeville, WA at this lovely B&B. When we arrived they have a lovely bottle of champagne chilling for us with a couple of glasses and box of chocolates waiting in our room. The room was very nicely appointed with a little fridge socked with drinks. There was a coffee maker and water in the room and a microwave. The bathroom was a little tight, but was very nice with a large tub. The view was spectacular and when we woke up the next morning and the sun was shining and the window was open - it was hard to look away. The bed was very comfortable. The room was a bit dated. Lots of floral wall paper and frilly curtains, but it fits the image of what I would image staying in a doll house would be like. Very relaxing nevertheless. Breakfast was ok. We were served a bowl of fresh fruit and then some French toast stuffed with a dollop of cream cheese and jam with a couple of heat and served sausages. I was hoping for something more savory - as there was quiet a bit of sweets. I hadn't experienced sliced pound cake served at breakfast before - but my husband enjoyed it. They had fresh fruit juices on the table and fresh coffee and hot tea on the buffet. The host and hostess were lovely. We were greeted with a warm reception when we arrived and shown our room, how the TV and whirl pool tub worked. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

we will be dreaming about this place for the rest of forever and that is not an exaggeration…read more ok so the backstory: we did NOT plan to stay here. my partner got a bad migraine on our drive home to Seattle and we suddenly needed a dog-friendly place to stay, immediately, on short notice. we found captain whidbey in a bit of a desperate scramble and oh my god it literally changed our lives. we stayed in one of the cabins and it was PERFECTION. like every single detail: the local treats they leave out, the robes, the fireplace, the cozy bed with a view of the actual ocean. i just laid there in disbelief (with a big ol smile) that this was real life. stunning doesn't even cover it. and THEN. the restaurant. oh my GODDDDDD. the cherry on top of the most perfect accidental stay. the food was creative and beautifully executed and the service was just incredible: so warm and personal. they were SO accommodating to my many dietary restrictions without a single moment of awkwardness, which honestly made me want to cry a little (in a grateful way). also!!! BREAKFAST DELIVERED TO YOUR CABIN IN THE MORNING!!! they just bring it right to your door and you eat it in your robe by the fire and look at the ocean and you think "yes. this is it. (in the words of the wise Hannah Montana) this is the life." my partner and i loved it so much we are now genuinely considering having our wedding here. will start saving up now (lol) but truly if you ever have the chance to stay here, do not hesitate for even one second. just be warned it will change your life and you will be able to think of nothing else for weeks (possibly even months) after

We complained that the bed was super hard and felt like sleeping on the floor so they offered a refund which was nice for the rest of the time but we could not afford to change so we stayed and dealt with it which I would have left a four star review for the customer service but after finding out they blocked us, it is the true one star review because of multiple factors. They are not insulated well so you can hear everything your neighbor does so we didn't sleep well because of the bed plus noise. The place had no silverware at all yet it had a knife and cutting board with wine opener? It was also dirty, we had to clean the sink which had brown crud all over the bottom which wiped away easily showing the cleaning service does the absolutely bare minimum and likely doesn't really scrub anything, the tea kettle had white crust all on the inside and same with the coffee maker so I had to clean both myself as well. The heater was great but the chairs for the table were super unstable and cannot support an adult. The view was great despite being blocked by power lines. Parking was perfect. We would not stay here again given the owners poor ability to accept anything but a five star review and the uncomfortable bed.

You need to come here with the expectation and understanding that these homes are a century old. They maintain them and keep them looking historic. That's the charm and appeal of these rentals. This is not a 5* Hyatt so the other reviews that bash this place need to temper their expectations. The location location is perfect. A short walk to the park and beach. There is a road that takes you along the homes to the conference center and beach. The pool is only open in the summer. Love watching the sunset from the beach here. The home is old and floorboards squeak. But that should be expected. Decor is in keeping with the history of the building. Board games were available and a book on the history of the base and homes was a cool read.

We stayed in Unit 8, and chose it specifically because it said there was a shower/tub combo. While I would have enjoyed a soak in a big clawfoot tub, I wanted to make sure my grandparents were comfortable getting in and out of wherever we were bathing. It was perfect, and would be perfect for those with kids too. There are plenty of easily accessible trails with great views right out the front door. The kitchen was big and well stocked with cooking supplies, but we only ever used it to cook breakfast. We would often drive into nearby Coupeville for lunch and dinner, and there were plenty of great things to eat there! It's also within a very short drive of the trails at Eby's Landing. The views are amazing. It was still cool when we visited, but we could see how it could get hot. You don't really need A/C up in the Northwest, but a fan would be nice! We're used to sleeping with a fan, so we had to use a fan app on our phone because it's so quiet out there. The WiFi was good for what little we used it for (checking email and facebook mostly). Saw a lot of wildlife, including a mama deer and her two fawns. Overall, we had a very great time and hope to come back.

We did the tasting at their restaurant Passage but I will make a separate review of that. On Saturday we borrows their bikes and ride to the Bayview farmers market, walked the beach in low tide and just spend time enjoying our surroundings. Breakfast is included and is tasty but heavy on pastries and sugary items (berry compote with granola and yogurt, pancakes), over protein which is my personal preference.

Looking out over the water is incredibly peaceful, and the stunning coastal setting truly makes for a memorable getaway. The downside is that at a luxury price point of $600 per night, the accommodations could use some attention. The room had a slightly musty smell upon arrival, likely due to the damp marine air, and both the guest rooms and outdoor decking are showing their age and could use a refresh. That being said, if you are visiting for the scenery, tranquility, and overall experience, the magical views definitely outshine these minor flaws. It is an incredibly beautiful place to stay, though a quick update to the rooms would make it a perfect five-star experience.
