We had a wonderful stay at the Anchorage Inn! Our hosts, Kevin and Mandy were wonderful -- they were very communicative and had great suggestions on things to do or see in the area -- we felt at home there! The complimentary amenities were appreciated (my husband especially appreciated the Tums after a delicious, big dinner next door at the Oystercatcher -- that restaurant was the whole reason for our visit and absolutely worth the trip!!). We stayed in the Cabot 2 room and really loved having direct access to the balcony area. The balcony area is accessible to everyone staying there, but we never saw anyone else out there. At night, we bundled up with some hot apple cider and got to enjoy a huge lightning storm over Vancouver. We didn't hear any thunder or experience any rain, just the rustling of the trees nearby and an awesome light show. Breakfast was tasty -- which included an assortment of quiches from the Little Red Hen nearby, Greek yogurt with all the fixings, coffee and juices. Overall, we had a really nice, quick escape from the city and loved our stay at this adorable inn! read more

Anchorage Inn was lovely the moment we arrived. The inside is just as beautiful as the outside. The owners are so welcoming and informative. They even provided us with a list of the restaurants and things to do in town. The view from the balcony outside our room was chef's kiss! The bed was comfortable, the tv had Roku, and it was fun to play around with the colors of the flames in the "fireplace." The room was a bit small, but that didn't matter so much, since this is a bed and breakfast stay. The breakfast was delicious and filling. Breakfast entrees change every day, and on our day we had a hearty, flavorful bacon quiche. They did offer other options, like spinach quiche, or a gluten free breakfast (I think it was an omelette that day), which is very considerate. We also were given a fruit and yogurt bowl, and what I think was chocolate chip pound cake. Coffee was continuously poured into our cups. I would definitely stay here again if I were to return to Coupeville! read more

This place is a dream! Our family has stayed in a lot of places but nothing that exceeds our expectations like here! From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with such grace & warmth. The rooms were exquisite with everything you could ever need and more! Seeing the view of the town and the water took our breath away! The breakfast that was provided was masterful! We were lucky to enjoy it all in such a beautiful setting. Perfect location as well! We walked easily down to the water off the center of town, shops, coffee & had a wonderful dinner only a block away at Ciao, which we had great Italian Food in a warm friendly environment (Try the Cioppino & Pizza, it's to die for!). My wife and I had the opportunity to spend 3 evenings at the Anchorage Inn, and loved the experience! Dave & Maggie, the owners, are awesome people and everything they did exceeded our expectations. Their sit down breakfast always included a delicious fruit bowl with an equally delicious entree. I guarantee you won't leave the table hungry! There's also binoculars by the table to track a local bald eagle. On our final day there we had to leave early so we were going to miss breakfast. Dave & Maggie again went the extra mile of service and packed us a nice breakfast to go! Inside their B&B they have a fridge filled with cold water bottles and soft drinks available 24 hrs a day. Stayed in the Onward room at anchorage inn last night and it was absolutely lovely, despite a power outage and stormy day on Whidbey Island. Maggie welcomed me with sunset chat, showed me my room, and provided me with a flashlight before she set up the generator. Enjoyed chatting with the other visitors staying there, girl talk late into the evening. As a Navy gal myself, I really loved chatting with Maggie who was a pioneer in the Navy herself. I've lived in Coupeville and Oak Harbor for 4 years always wanting to stay at the Inn. Moving away today and enjoyed my last night on the island at the inn. Will be back! read more

This place is the cutest! The Innkeepers are very nice and welcoming as soon as we walked in. The view from the Inn is great and it's only a short walk down to the water front from here. The air base close was practicing carrier landings in the afternoon and later that night, but it wasn't all night so it really wasn't all that bothersome. And the sunset we got up here was amazing! So much open sky! If we're ever out this way again, we're staying here for sure! read more

My husband surprised me for our Wedding Anniversary with an over night stay in Coupeville, WA at this lovely B&B. When we arrived they have a lovely bottle of champagne chilling for us with a couple of glasses and box of chocolates waiting in our room. The room was very nicely appointed with a little fridge socked with drinks. There was a coffee maker and water in the room and a microwave. The bathroom was a little tight, but was very nice with a large tub. The view was spectacular and when we woke up the next morning and the sun was shining and the window was open - it was hard to look away. The bed was very comfortable. The room was a bit dated. Lots of floral wall paper and frilly curtains, but it fits the image of what I would image staying in a doll house would be like. Very relaxing nevertheless. Breakfast was ok. We were served a bowl of fresh fruit and then some French toast stuffed with a dollop of cream cheese and jam with a couple of heat and served sausages. I was hoping for something more savory - as there was quiet a bit of sweets. I hadn't experienced sliced pound cake served at breakfast before - but my husband enjoyed it. They had fresh fruit juices on the table and fresh coffee and hot tea on the buffet. The host and hostess were lovely. We were greeted with a warm reception when we arrived and shown our room, how the TV and whirl pool tub worked. Definitely recommend if you're in the area! read more

Just got back home from 5 of the best days on Whidbey Island. The reason it was so great was the wonderful hospitality of Maggie and Dave at the Anchorage Inn. I don't usually use B&B's, but my experience at this inn will definitely change that behavior in the future. My stomach was full until late afternoon after eating breakfast with them. And each of the 4 meals I had with them were wonderful. The location is great as well. We walked from the inn to the waterfront where there are many stores and restaurants. The views from the inn are wonderful and the sunrise is gorgeous especially when the clouds allow Mt. Baker to be seen. I plan to go back next year. Don't hesitate to treat yourself to a few days in this home away from home. read more

Stayed here for the Whidbey Island Marathon , it's an OK place. People that run it are really, really nice and will bend over backward for you....BUT, I really don't care for the cluttered, quilt filled, B and B look....There is no place to sit and mingle with other guests (piano takes up the living room), no hot tub (which I could have used! LOL)...And I guess I'm just burned out on these Inn's that all look alike inside. It's a matter of taste right? Older women will love the decor...I'm ducking now....LOL On the positive side the breakfast was very nice, and the view from the property(porch and some rooms) is great ! read more

I was worried when I couldn't find other accomodations on the island and when I left I'm so glad it worked out that way. The owners have accommodated a lot of racers in the past and know the marathon drill. I stayed in the Crows nest suite which is the highest point in Coupeville. Wonderful view, private bath, large movie collection to choose from with new movies to stay in and watch, gas fireplace, new amenities, and the inn keepers are gems. If I do the Whidbey island marathon again, I will be booking this one asap. I will also stay an extra night and enjoy the place a little more as there is so much to take in from this town, the shops, the views, the hot quiche breakfast here at the B&B. I thought the inn was really old and possibly a "fixture" to the area but found that it was only 25 years old and they had to follow the towns regulations to build it....it is amazingly done. This was my second time staying 3 nights at the Anchorage Inn. The Binders give an art student discount which makes staying there very affordable. There are lots of special touches (hot tea/coffee available 24/7, fresh cookies, popcorn etc). The rooms are quiet, the location great and the hosts very accomodating, especially to my myriad of food allergies. The breakfasts are fabulous and rumor has it they don't repeat for 14 days. Generally I am not a big fan of B&B living. I hate being cheerful in the morning!!! B&Bs remind me of dorms for adults, but if one has to stay in a B&B you can't do better than this. read more

In a Victorian style house finished in 1991, Anchorage Inn B&B is a warm and friendly place. We stayed one night, since there isn't much to do in Coupeville, and enjoyed our time on Front Street and relaxing in the room. The wi-fi worked fine and having a private bath was nice. The TV cable package is a basic one, but who goes to Coupeville to watch TV? They had lots of DVD and VHS movies available. The breakfast was very well presented, and was good, but not great. If they had a granola with yogurt course option, it would have been complete. This place is the closest of the B&B's on Main street to Front Street. With such a tiny old-town, you'll be finished looking and shopping within two hours. I think we'll return during a deep and dark December day. read more

This inn is an icon in Coupeville. It reminds me of a mini-Hotel del Coronado. Maggie and Dave, the new owners, are delightful. Omg the owners are the chillest friendliest folks you can meet. They've been running the place for 20 years and know their stuff. The room was beautiful with antique furniture and very clean with a good shower and bath. The room felt very private and the noise around the house was minimal. I got in late from the ferry as everything was booked in Port Townsend. The house us right downtown in Coupeville and a 100 yard walk to the waterfront and its tiny but pretty downtown. The whole place reminded me of Ireland travels. The owners gave me a ride to the ferry in the morning after serving a really nice breakfast where we got to sit with other guests and talk. I highly recommend a night or two in Coupeville and especially the Anchorage Inn! read more

My husband and I went to Whidbey Island for an overnighter getaway and if you want quiet, no city noise, uninterrupted time together, there are many places here that are great for day trips by WA Ferry or road trips for overnighters (enjoy while gas is still affordable) We sure did! Loved our time in this beautiful B&B. We stayed here because we couldn't find anywhere farther south on the Island, closer to the Langley event we were attending, as everything was booked up...but sometimes that works out well, because we wouldn't have discovered this lovely spot or enjoyed strolling in Coupeville otherwise! I only wish we'd had another day there. I wanted to spend some time sitting on the porch reading...then relocate to the living room to peruse magazines...and also spend time sitting up reading in the cozy nook in my room. As it was we had time to wander and shop in town, and had coffee and pastry at a nice little shop on the street. The most COMFORTABLE bed I've ever slept in, warm welcome and hospitality, beautiful dahlias and other flowers in vases everywhere, and a delicious breakfast with convivial guests. We recently stayed and had a good stay over all. The rooms are comfortable and the amenities are average. Televisions are pretty small and not very enjoyable for viewing. Breakfasts are pretty average, and appear to be be pretty simple for the inn keepers (I guess you can't blame them there). Lots of items are from Costco. I was somewhat surprised to find that none of the rooms appear to have screens on the windows. You let a lot of bugs in the room without a screen. That being said, this is a nice B&B and I would stay here again. I recommend a room with a King-sized bed since the Queens just feel very small. You might want to bring your own decaf coffee pods for the Keurig since they appear to have very few decaf pods available. I cold only find two pods and none were refilled once those were gone. You may want to stay on a weekend since there is a lot of weekday traffic and it can be somewhat noisy in the rooms when trying to sleep. Weekends are not nearly as busy. Give this B&B a try. There are not many that are as well run or that are as reasonable. read more

Dianne & Dave were so accommodating - we had a late check-in time, and Dave was still there to greet us. The rooms were Victorian-cozy, and the lobby & dining area were warm and welcoming. We had an early morning seminar to attend, so could not partake of the breakfast offered by the innkeepers, but we were able to relax with a cup of coffee, at the breakfast table, before we left. The double threat of a great Victorian with stellar views of the town combined with the endless hospitality (taken several notches above what you'd expect, and absolutely lovely!) of Dave and Dianne combine to make the Anchorage Inn a knock-out in the broad world of B&Bs. This is the first time we stayed in Coupeville, and we will never stay anywhere else. We stayed in the Crow's Nest room, on the third level. Since Coupeville restricted building heights just after the Anchorage Inn was built, the views from the Crow's Nest are not only the highest in Coupeville, but all-encompassing and singularly spectacular. Make sure you see at least one sunset, as they are awe-inspiring. The room itself has the typical B&B charm, but Dave and Dianne go one further by offering free refreshments in the mini-fridge. The magic starts as you enter the front door ~ you're personally greeted and given a tour of the home, and Dave's dry wittiness only adds to the great experience. The Anchorage Inn combines the best of the old-world charm while incorporating modern aspects. Rooms come with cable and a VCR, and the inn supplies a video library in case you feel like cozying up in your room next to the fire. Below in the main rooms, they offer additional refreshments in a mini-fridge, as well as popcorn and hot beverages. Breakfast is simply divine; Dianne provides a nourishing hot meal complete with assorted breads to start, and a fruit cup as a precursor to the main event. In our case, it was a delectable stuffed French toast. One of the highlights of breakfast was when our hosts joined the guests and chatted in the dining room. All in all, light-years beyond expectations of a typical B&B, and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND coming here for a visit! read more

My husband and I had a wonderful overnight stay at the Anchorage Inn. It was like home away from home! The innkeepers really thought of everything. There were plenty of snacks, coffee, and tea available in the dining area round the clock. Plus, a DVD library, maps and guides for the area, and books were available for the guests to use. We stayed in the Crow's Nest Suite, which was an excellent room! The photos really don't do the room enough justice. It is a very large room, with two separate sitting areas, a fireplace, and the bathroom is set apart for privacy. The room is on the top floor by itself, away from the other guests which made it very quiet. We had a great view of Puget Sound on one side, the gardens on another side, and on the third side a view overlooking the town. The king size bed was a bit of a climb to get into, but it was very comfortable. We both slept great and woke up feeling very refreshed. Breakfast was good, and we really enjoyed the company of the other guests. I am one of those people who usually likes more adventure and always trying new things. But Anchorage Inn is one of those rare places that I would definitely return to! Five Stars! read more

A friend and I were lucky enough to get a room there on New Year's Eve a couple of years ago. It was fantastic and everything, the home, the town, were lit up still from Christmas. We walked downtown in the early evening for dinner and walked back in the dark to the lights of all the Christmas lights. We had the great turret room and the breakfast the next morning was marvelous. The owners' grandchildren helped serve. We met other travelers and talked during out breakfast. It was great fun. I discovered Anchorage Inn Christmas '09 and fell in love with it the minute I walked in the door. It has since become my regular getaway place. It was built as an Inn (not converted from a private home as said elsewhere) which means thought was put into the needs of travelers, such as a private bathroom in every room. You'll even get a cheerful smile if you have to get Dave up in the middle of the night to get you back into your bathroom if you accidentally lock the door (ask me how I know that). :) The Inn is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated, with great attention to detail. Best of all is the service. Dave and Dianne met me immediately with big smiles and a friendly tour, plus gave me all the info I needed. One block from Penn Cove and up on the hill so your view from the waterview rooms is spectacular; if you open your window you will be met with a refreshing breeze. The dining area is well stocked with Dianne's delicious cookies and an array of coffee, tea, soft drinks, popcorn, etc., always available at no extra charge. They are stocked up on things you tend to forget, such as toothpaste & toothbrushes, and these are cheerfully provided upon request. This has kept me from having to make a trip to the drugstore. There is a nice seating area in the living room, and chairs in the connecting area to the dining room, so you can sit and chat with other guests; large wrap-around porch is great for visiting with others or just relaxing and looking out at the Cove. Breakfast is scrumptious and has won numerous awards. They gladly accommodate special diets and ask everyone on your first visit as to allergies, dislikes and needs; even decaf or regular coffee. They keep records so tell them once & when you go back they've got it. The Inn also just won a "Top 10 Overall" award in the entire US based on guest reviews. The Inn is "tops" and I highly recommend it. read more
