I got the testing done, it came back positive for asbestos. I panicked. I called Pacific Environmental for an estimate on the job. Armando and Arturo came out to assess the job and provide with me with a quote. To my surprise, the price was only slightly higher than the regular remediation company. I was pleasantly surprised by the affordability. Additionally, they promised me the job would be completed in 1 day! WOW! This would be best case scenario. The office staff was also very kind and helpful with prompt estimate and response time. Today was the day of the job, I was very anxious and worried due to the fact that my parent's house is very old. The job supervisor, two workers and Arturo came out to ensure that everything would be okay! They did a superior job, kept everything clean, taped off all areas and did a great job with containment! I am so grateful to the PEAS team, now I can breathe easy and I am so relieved! I highly recommend this company for any abatement project. Great price, great customer service and great quality work! They listened to everything I asked for and delivered above and beyond! Thank you to the entire PEAS team!

Dino at Pacific Environment Abatement is exactly that. We're looking at buying a home in Seal Beach (Orange County) with popcorn ceilings, and I wanted to understand the reality of asbestos testing and what the asbestos abatement process would look like if it came back positive. I called Dino expecting a quick, generic pitch. Instead, he took the time to walk me through each step like a professional consultant--what the risks are, what's worth worrying about (and what isn't), the tradeoffs between different approaches, and how to think about the situation before making a decision. What really stood out was how transparent he was. No upsell, no scare tactics, no "you must do this immediately" pressure. Just clear explanations, practical guidance, and the kind of honesty you only get from someone who actually knows the work and genuinely cares about doing right by the customer. His pricing also sounded very fair and reasonable. With just one phone call, Dino saved me time and gave me a great understanding of the abatement process. If we end up needing asbestos testing or asbestos abatement, Dino and Pacific Environment Abatement will be the first and only call. Also worth mentioning: his office staff was incredibly kind and helpful too.

I would not use this company again…read more Our situation began as a water mitigation claim, which is already stressful for a homeowner, but the process quickly became disorganized. Communication was inconsistent, timelines changed, and we were told at various points that they were waiting on insurance coordination before work would proceed. The company ultimately chose not to complete the remediation, removed their equipment, and then billed for more days than the equipment was actually on site. When I attempted to ask questions and clarify the discrepancies, the interactions were not handled professionally. The verbal communication I experienced felt confrontational and dismissive rather than solution-oriented, which made an already difficult situation much worse. Everything was handled so unprofessionally. Because I needed to move forward with repairs and focus on my family, I paid the invoice to prevent further escalation while still disputing the charges. Homeowners going through a loss need clear information, accurate billing, and respectful communication. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.

So, what if you could turn to someone trustworthy that would take care of it all and make it OK. What if you could find someone that knew the process, would take care of SCAQMD, remediate the asbestos totally, and leave your home asbestos-free. Well that is exactly the Hazmat Team. From the moment Erik came to provide an estimate, his honesty and professionalism put me at ease. But just to be sure, I got 5 other estimates. While, theirs wasn't the cheapest, this is not a point you necessarily want done cheaply. Nor was it the most expensive...but it was the most thorough of the 6 I received. The the gentlemen that came to perform the abatement, Porfirio and Diego, were wonderful, quick, efficient and thorough in their work. I could not have asked for better people if I had to go out and choose them myself. Erik returned afterwards to inspect and ensure I was satisfied with their work. So, all in all, I am so glad that I chose to go with Hazmat Team. You will not find more honest, trustworthy, and thorough people. You will not be disappointed. Guaranteed!

During an extremely difficult time, PWSEI made life exponentially harder. I think it's important to let people know our full experience. After the Eaton Fire we had severe wind damage and ash/smoke issues. Testing showed there was lead in the ash/soot in our home. This company was hired to lead abate. The main issue is complete mismanagement by Andy Magee, our project manager. He was in charge of the project and approach. He was largely unavailable, wasn't on site during work, often never followed up, and was always "out of town" when needed. Based on conversations with other employees at the company, I am certain you would have a better experience with a different project manager, although I'm also sure that's not the only problem here. This company did lead abatement completely wrong, per multiple lead abatement and cleaning professionals (a basic understanding of sampling and some common sense will also tell you this). Lead was found in ash in certain samples in certain rooms. PWSEI's approach was to set up hyper localized containment barriers around only immediately where those samples happened to have been taken. For instance, in my daughters bedroom, they contained and cleaned only one window where the sample was taken, but not the window directly next to it, also covered in ash, where a sample was not taken. Even this was done wrong. For instance, lead was found in a sample on our living room floor (our door had burst open during the fire blowing in ash), but they arbitrarily contained and cleaned the windowsill in that room instead. They never cleaned the floor that had the lead containing sample. Also after cleaning, they "cleared" by sampling the wrong surfaces in the tiny containment areas, rather than the lead positive surface (like a windowsill) and testing nowhere else. This company destroyed our walls. The way in which they installed the containment areas involved staples and the wrong type of tape applied directly to plaster. When removing it, they ripped up the walls, left holes and staples, and left thick visible tape residue (from what looks like duct tape) everywhere including on our glass windows and countertops. The removal team told me they were coming back the next day to finish cleaning up the residue with different materials they didn't have with them at the time....and never showed up again. Andy said they weren't coming back because they hadn't been paid yet. During "abatement", they spread contamination. Before cleaning they moved all of the uncleaned contents (covered in lead ash!) from the containment areas into other rooms of the house that did not test positive for lead. We eventually had to hire another abatement company to lead clean the whole house. They mishandled and broke items in our home- such as our engraved wedding champagne flutes. The workers were observed on cameras cleaning without any safety precautions- no mask or gloves or suits or anything. To cap it all off- after months of trying to get Andy to at least finish removal (sending photos, following up, etc), we got a surprise lien on our house in the mail even though Andy told me that payment was already approved by insurance and was in motion. On July 1, he said he would get back to me "next week" about payment going through, release from the lien, and "following that we can discuss having a team member come and take a look at any other issue" I never heard from him again. The cleanup and repairs had to be done by another company. I'm still not sure if the lien has been removed yet. Maybe the company can respond here to let me know.

What should have been a professional remediation process became an extended and stressful ordeal. Consumers should carefully review the contract before signing. In our experience, the agreement included a provision stating the customer could be responsible for the company's legal fees in the event of a dispute. We strongly encourage anyone considering this company to have the contract independently reviewed and to fully understand all terms. We also experienced aggressive collection tactics during ongoing negotiations, including the filing of a lien against our property. Homeowners should understand the potential consequences of contract disputes before proceeding. We recommend getting multiple bids, keeping all communications in writing, obtaining independent third-party inspections, and reviewing all invoices carefully. If others have had similar unprofessional experiences with this company, we welcome them to contact us privately.
