Examples: -First visit there to have a flat fixed I notice Vern putting anti-seize on lug studs. This makes it a whole lot easier to remove lug bolts in future. -Having purchased a vehicle locally I eventually took it in to have a leak repaired. No charge since tires were purchased there (even though not by me). I left a good tip! -Noticed a slight front end vibration on a trip in motorhome. Had a very experienced tire shop inspect and found nothing. Had front tires rebalanced at a Big O shop with no change. When back home went to Redway Tire who quickly determined front tires needed replacement. Problem solved! -Redway Tire accepts discarded tires at no charge picked up by volunteer group that collects roadside litter.

Here's what happened: The local Ford dealership told us our tires were worn. 7/32 tread depth in the front and 6/32 in the rear. I ordered four new Cooper tires from Tetrault. My wife took our car to have the tires installed while i was at work. The manager comes out and asks my wife if we wanted them to put our old tires in our car to take home when they install the new tires as they hadn't installed them yet. My wife was puzzled so she called me and had me talk to the manager. He explained that our tires were like new and figured we were replacing them because they were Michelin CrossClimate2 Grand Touring All-Season Tires and he thought we wanted summer tires and then rotate them back to the Michelins next winter. I told him what the Ford dealership had told me and he said, no our tires are just like new. I asked if he minded if we didn't buy the new tires even though they had them shipped to the shop just for us and they were a special size. He said no problem. I had them balance and rotate our tires.

Luckily, I was in downtown Arcata at a street corner across from a gas station with a-thankfully-working air pump. Thank goodness for Yelp. Tehama Tire Service was close by. They help customers on a first-come, first served basis. I parked, walked into their office and explained my situation. There was no one else waiting, so they were able to inspect and repair my tire fairly quickly. Service was excellent. Cost of repair was fair and reasonable. Staff was personable. First issue was the noise coming from my tires after the balance. They got me back in, took off the tires, drove around and found no issues, although the noise was gone afterwards. Hmmm. Yesterday they did the brake job, then today when I drove the car, it made a loud clunking noise every time I stopped, so I had to return home. Since it's Friday now, they can't get me in until next week . The biggest issue? My plans to go out of town for a special weekend with old friends is cancelled because of their poor workermanship. I do not recommend. This has been a very bad experience.
