The Hotel Royer has been a popular choice for myself as of late whenever I am in town as it is a very solid option in terms of locale, price point and amenities. Whenever I walk in, I immediately notice two things. First off, the decor really brings together the theme of the hotel. I felt as if I was being taken back a few centuries to some royal kingdom, with portraits of historical figures, and furniture that is modern to the touch yet antiquated to the eyes. I also notice the smell, it is clean smelling and inviting. It certainly beats the musty cigarette smell you get at some places. The rooms in general are pretty good. The beds are comfortable, the lighting is decent and the space is typically pretty clean. The bathrooms are okay in my opinion (I am quite particular about this aspect). Sometimes the showers take a while to heat up and the toilet paper is pretty low quality. I think the weakest part of the rooms are the fact that some rooms do not have a desk. I think this is a big miss, as someone who visits on business a lot, it makes doing work in my room impossible sometimes. Additionally, the WiFi is super inconsistent, I found my devices being disconnected at will! In terms of amenities, I think the Hotel Royer is much better than the average Hilton. While there isn't the complimentary breakfast, they have their own restaurant, a well equipped gym and a pool. They also have a bar and their own banquet hall, for big events. The hotel is well located, in a walkable area and not too far from campus. Overall, I am a bit weary to select this hotel on future trips where business is important. However, if I am looking for a relaxing and quality stay, then I know the Hotel Royer will have me covered!

With Downtown Urbana located nearby, there are many things to do in this college town. Check- in was smooth, and staff were kind and responsive. I called down for additional coffee cups and they were delivered to our room right away. Around 9pm, we went for ice, and the machine on the 4th floor was empty. That was a bit frustrating, especially with the mini-fridge in our room being rather warm. It got cold after we turned the temperature dial down. There is no microwave in the room, but there is one available for use in the lobby, near the bar. The room has a motion- sensor light in the closet area that is dim enough for use during the night for trips to the restroom. I really liked that feature. The a/c pumps really cold air into the room, which we appreciated and the water pressure was good. I'd suggest bringing your own provisions with you. The sundry offerings in the lobby are being heavily taxed! A 16.9oz bottle of Sprite costs $4, a Haagen Daz ice cream bar will cost you $6, and the pints of ice cream are $8!

Everything is so neat and so tidy, but not at all fussy. I honestly feel like I could stay here all winter. If you are ever in Champaign/Urbana, there's no other place to stay. What a delight and what a find - a glittering jewel amidst a pile of crass Comfort Inns and Highway Hotels. Checked out of room in a good state with ALL items as it was the night prior. - Dropped off keys with no problem - Got call/voicemail from hotel saying house keeping noticed items missing. Need to return them or get charged. - Called back to tell them I did not take anything. Manager or owner was very unprofessional and continued to accuse me. - Threatens to blacklist me and hangs up on me mid sentence. So in summary. Checked in as your average customer. Checked out and accused as a thief, with no proof, and blacklisted. Never going back and I don't suggest anybody else patronize them unless you enjoy getting your integrity questioned and blacklisted for something you did not do.

My son and daughter-in-law just got married there, and it was truly a fairy-tale wedding. We were able to use the house to get ready and keep our personal items, and he was quick to respond to any questions or concerns. When the big moment arrived, guests were in awe at the beauty of the chapel area and reception room. The service was impeccable, and when guests spilled or created a mess, Dan himself responded immediately to keep the area clean, safe, and presentable. We had a beautiful moment after the dancing started... Dan opened the large back doors to reveal the sunsetting over the fields, and there was a collective "wow" by all the guests. Over the course of the afternoon and evening, we had guests taking pictures on the property, playing bags in the field, enjoying drinks on the grounds, eating, and dancing. Not one guest had a negative comment. Everything was absolutely perfect! Thank you Dan and Hudson Farm staff for making this day everything my family hoped it would be. The facility is very clean and spacious with high ceilings, and they have it beautifully set up with nice lighting. There was plenty of room for our buffet, table seating for everyone to sit down for dinner, the 360 photo booth that we rented, the bar, and the dance floor. Though everything inside the reception barn is picture perfect, when Dan opened the barn door at about 7:00 pm, all of the guests were blown away. We had a perfect evening with pleasant temperatures and a gorgeous sunset, and it became and indoor / outdoor event in a beautiful pastoral setting. The graduates and their families had such a fantastic time in a unique setting that made for a night we will never forget. Dan was so easy to work with and he and his staff worked so hard behind the bar to provide excellent service. Highest praise for Hudson Farms - its a gem. You will not be disappointed.

You have to come each week, to spray for weeds and the mow the grass around your lot too. I was out of town for 10 days, not realizing that I needed to do this and with no warning was asked to leave within two weeks time, paid up until November 1st. Their contract said they will give you 30 days. In addition, there was a broken down fence, put in and left by the previous tenants that soon became my responsibility to repair and fix it. First of all, I am by myself and there is no way I can secure a fence to posts that are 8 feet tall and 20 feet long. They said if it falls on someone I am liable??? Why is it up to me to fix a fallen down fence with sharp nails protruding from it, children playing close by, when I didn't put it there to begin with. How am I supposed to do this by myself? I am extremely quiet, keep to myself, am gone a lot, not a big drinker or partier, and haven't had time to take part in the activities. No one came over, introduced themselves, even tried to get to know me or anything. And then without notice because I was gone for 10 days they gave me two weeks to leave in the height of the summer months or at a time where no other campsites that had any availability because of the time of year it is. Sigh........In summary, these people do not abide by their own contract, the owners let the managers (Jake) decide whether you can stay or need to leave(????) and have thrown out other people (check the reviews) for even less things and they have no integrity whatsoever. Also, if you do not leave by the deadline they give you, then according to another review, they can keep your shed? One person reported in her review they would not let her back in to get it. If there was any other place to go camp, do it. Maybe Clinton Lake permanent sites, Green Acres or one of my favorite stay for any amount of time is thevoeace snd quiet of Clinton Estates!! But do it in early Spring because those places fill up fast. I asked them several times to come talk to me about this in order to try and make it right but they couldn't even do that but resorted name calling and threats. I do not subscribe and never resort to these kind of tactics, ever, and this is a first for me to get asked to leave from a campground with such a short window (almost impossible to meet or only 3 weeks) when paid up until November 1st. Ugh! I was refunded for only part of what I paid and was short approximately $200 in addition. Fortunately, for me, in the area, some good Samaritans came to my rescue and helped move me. Thank God for them! They have another resident who was treated the same way I was and had to leave quickly as well. Please do yourself a favor and read some of the other reviews. I wish I would have as I would have never come here.
