Stick the fries in the chili cheese... you're welcome

Haven't had anything I didn't like here. Perfect munchies spot. From desserts like ice cream, shakes and floats to food like burgers, corn dogs and fries plus way more... everything is simply bomb and quick. Always customers there all times of the day but doesn't take too long.

Omg this is such a sweet treat and hidden gem. The soft serve is top tier, and the food is really good. It's very small and they only accept cash. It's also a bit of a wait but absolutely worth it. I got a vanilla chocolate dipped cone, my husband got a banana split and and chili cheese fries. So darn good! There's plenty of parking. Staff was nice I can't recommend enough!

If you like the old school, walk-up to the window and order burger and ice cream stand, then you will probably like this place. They serve cheeseburgers and hot dogs, shakes and malts, ice cream cones, and freezes. Their ice cream is delicious and reasonably priced too. They also make great malts. However, the staff isn't the friendliest, and they only take cash.

Yum! Customer service was no nonsense and fast. We stopped by here for the nostalgia of childhood memories. 40+ years ago this was the place to go after a soccer game or a special occasion. The ice cream did not disappoint. It was sweet and creamy and definitely Foster's Freeze. Tons of options on the menu and all the sweets are sweet and exactly what you expect. I wish there were more of these up north.

This place is so cute, CASH ONLY, very friendly workers. We just got ice cream and a twister but it was very good and we'll definitely be back

The only ice cream place that was open when I was in spring valley recently was fosters freeze so I gave it a try. This is a cash only establishment, come prepared. They offer ice cream, hot dogs and burgers. They had quite a lot of options. Different ice cream sundaes, milkshakes, chocolate dipped vanilla cones. The brownie cherry parfait sounded really good, so that's what I ended up ordering. The soft serve ice cream itself was good. The brownie was stale and old. The cherry flavoring tasted a little off. Almost like cough syrup. The parfait was $7 total. It wasn't worth that much at all and felt like a waste of money. Service was just as bad as the parfait. The 2 employees working did not like answering any questions and were not happy to be working. If I was desperate, maybe I'd come back. Next time I'm just getting an Oreo shake from jack in the box!

There is always a long line when I drive past this place so I figured I'd give it a try. I got a cherry brownie twist and it was super good! We also ordered a peanut butter milkshake that was pretty good but it could've been a little more peanut buttery. My husband tried a burger and fries and said they were decent but not great. I'd say come here for the ice cream, but skip the food. Lots of parking.

I will always love this classic ice cream/shake hut. I have to stop by at least once every summer. They are currently open from their outside ordering window only. They do take call ahead orders. They have plenty of parking. I believe they are a cash only shop. Their chicken strips are amazingly juicy and the breading is flavorful. My picky son enjoyed them. My go to is a worms and dirt twister with a side of waffle fries. Their menu hits the spot if you're craving a sweet and/or salty snack.

Horrible service for average food. Never going back. If I wanted to be treated badly I would have had my ex wife make me lunch.

Duke's Old Fashioned Onion Burgers has become a pretty popular spot in La Mesa. Every time I've…read moredriven by, there's always a steady stream of people coming in and out, so I figured it was finally time to see what the hype was about. They also rotate fun milkshake specials, and when I visited they had an Apple Pie Milkshake that sounded really good. I just wasn't in the mood for something sweet that day. I kept it simple and ordered the Single Onion Burger ($13.95) with mayo, ketchup, and lettuce, plus an order of the Original Fries ($5.75). The onion burger is made with fresh ground beef that's smashed with onions on the grill, and you can customize it with toppings like lettuce, tomato, pickles, jalapeños, cheese, mustard, and ketchup at no extra charge. Bacon is available for an additional charge. The restaurant itself was really clean, and I appreciated the self-serve condiment station stocked with ketchup, spicy ketchup, ranch, plenty of hot sauces, and to-go containers. The fries ended up being my favorite part of the meal. They're fresh cut and double fried, coming out piping hot with a crispy exterior and fluffy center. The portion was also super generous. They packed so many fries that they were spilling outside of the container into the bag. Paired with the ranch and spicy ketchup, they were honestly worth ordering on their own. The burger was a little more disappointing. The patty was overcooked, which made it pretty dry. You could even tell by the color that it had spent a little too much time on the grill. Since I usually keep my burgers pretty simple, there wasn't much to balance out the dryness, so I found myself dipping almost every bite into extra ketchup and ranch just to add some moisture. I can definitely see why Duke's is a neighborhood favorite, and I still like the concept behind their onion burgers. It just didn't completely satisfy the burger craving I walked in with. I'd come back for the fries without hesitation, and I'd be willing to give the burger another shot hoping I caught them on an off day.

I had never had a smash burger before so again my expectations were a little more than the average person. They did not disappoint the flavors were so delicious. I especially enjoyed the garlic aioli more than I thought I would (it is more like a mayo for this burger). The burger came with a a handful of pickled peppers and mini pickles on side. They were good but felt a little out of place for my taste. This place is definitely more of a bar feel than I expected and smaller than I thought it would be, and the seating was tight with most all the tables being bar height. The last thing to keep in mind the parking lot is small but there is street parking, but is leads to residential area so it can be limited to. Overall the burger had good flavor and I will be back to try more on the menu. If you are looking for a beer with your burger there was a lot of choices. Also, if you are into sports, there are several televisions on with a few different events playing.

This might honestly be my favorite meal. Even if it's quite a drive from San Diego, it was well worth it in my opinion. The Güd Burger completely lived up to the hype. The double Wagyu patties were juicy and full of flavor, the cheese was perfectly melty, and the sweet chili aioli brought everything together. I wasn't sure what to expect from the ube brioche bun, but it added just a hint of sweetness that somehow made the whole burger even better. Nothing overpowered anything else. It all just worked together. The Kare Kare bowl was generous in the Kare Kare, which I appreciated. The physical bowl felt too small compared to the amount they gave us! I'm glad I was sharing this with someone else because I was already full halfway through the bowl. We had to order the ube churros as well...don't skip this! The dipping sauce it came with was so good. I kept dipping my churro into it too because it was that good. The churro was crunchy without being dry. This whole meal was one of those meals where you don't want it to end. It was my first time here and we waited 45 minutes for our food to be ready because of how busy it was. Some people ordered ahead of time so they skipped the wait altogether. The restaurant itself is quite small but we were lucky enough to snag a seat after rush hour. There are less than 10 tables for eating in. Restaurants like this are worth supporting because you know it's a small business and the food tastes like it's made out of love! Already planning my next visit.

What a great start!! I ordered pork lumpia and their Gud Burger. The pork lumpia was standard fare - freshly fried and delicious like most lumpias. The Star of the show was the Gud Burger and boy did it shine brightly! 2 Smashed American Wagyu Patties, Sweet Chill Crisp Aioli, Butter Pickles, Pickled Red Onions, White American Cheese, in an Ube bun. Plain and simple, all the flavors came together for burger perfection. The patties were perfectly fried, the aioli flavor was on point, the fried garlic was a chef's kiss. I loved it! Because of the 2 previous visits I could only give Tambayan 4 stars in good conscience, otherwise, it would definitely have been 5 stars. I will definitely be back for more and hopefully it's a repeat of this last visit.

TL,DR: Outstanding food, priced right, great service and great atmosphere…read more I had driven past this place a few times and the name always cracks me up, reminds me of Jim Carrey from Dumb and Dumber. My wife tricked me into going with her to Walmart to pick up some shit, so I got to pick the spot for lunch and this is what I picked. Got there about 2 PM on Good Friday and there were a few people there but nothing crazy. Got seated right away and ordered drinks, a Pacifico for me, Sprite for the wifey - got them right away. For food, I got a BBQ bacon cheeseburger with tots, wifey got a regular bacon cheeseburger with everything plus fries, and I was curious so I also got the $10 chocolate (fudge) shake. Shake was delivered first. Expectations were high, and I was not disappointed. The shake was served in the metal tin, made with loads of real ice cream, whipped cream, fudge, drizzle of chocolate syrup, and chocolate sprinkles. Honestly not sure what I was thinking when mixing beer with shake, in hindsight I wouldn't do that again... but it was one of the best shakes I've had in a long while. Burgers came out shortly afterwards. Wifey's was cooked perfectly medium, which is an unusual thing for most burger places these days; most of the time when I order a burger medium, it comes out medium well or well done. These were both perfectly medium. Both burgers came out with a generous amount of potato products, more than either of us could hope to stuff down our gullets in one sitting. The food was outstanding. The service was great. The music was too loud for the wife but it was the kind of music that is supposed to be played loud so no points off for that from me. A nice vibe overall. I'll definitely be back.
