This restaurant was pretty good. The sit-down dining in this area of hawaii felt like it was nothing special repeatedly and this place was a safe bet that the food would at least be good. The servers who work here are incredibly nice and courteous. I had a roasted veggie sandwich that I wasn't a big fan of but it came with a potato salad that was delicious. Made Christmas Eve reservations 3 weeks in advance for a wedding reception dinner. Mentioned it several time it was a wedding reception party. Only 5 people. Nice atmosphere. Seated right away. Service slow but took into account it was a holiday. Two meals food was cold. No server around. Busser took dishes away. Ordered dessert. Waited 25 minutes. Server now helping other customers in another section. Didn't bring check for another 15 minutes. No manager came to wish happy couple congratulations even tho we mentioned to the hostess and server of their special day. Might try Burger King next time. Cheaper and more user friendly. Once again, the order was wrong. My husband ordered ribs and chicken. Mashed potatoes comes w the order along with another side. We ordered a double order of potatoes. NOT there! I ordered the Thai chicken salad and added avocado, and paid $2 extra. NO avocado was in my order. And all orders are online and it seems people can't read or fulfill ANY order. You pay online w no human interaction! Totally fed up as we are locals and will probably never return though we've been customers since you opened in Waikoloa. 0 starts from everything to the dirty chairs covered in sand, new waitress not knowing what items were vegan or what knob creek whiskey is or what a "neat" drink meant... the bad food, wait time and a tallboy water cup being shattered on the table. At one point I think we were all expecting someone to jump out and tell us it was all a joke. Our first "veganized" beyond burger came out smothered in bacon and cheese, with a side of vegetables (not fries as ordered) which apparently the waiter didn't catch before it was served. The second remake came out with mayonnaise... at that point we'd been there for almost 2 hours and decided to just deal with it. The regular and beyond burgers all came back burnt even though one was ordered medium rare. The ketchup was great and made in house, such a shame... I feel like if the food was prepared properly it would have been really good. They were out of everything my bf's mom tried to order including all fish. When the bartender leaned over to place something on the table he knocked over a glass of water over and broken shards were all over the place. He apologized a bunch, cleaned up the mess and offered us a round of drinks. He genuinely cared about our experience. I can't image the kind of stuff that guy has to apologize for on a daily basis. It's very clear there was a problem with staffing, suppliers and/or management. My advice for the business... keep that bartender, he's an asset to your company and literally the only good thing about our experience, the truffle fries were good too but over salted. PLEASE add one fully vegan burger to the menu, the kitchen staff obviously doesn't know what vegan means or it wasn't clear on the ticket. We didn't know if any sauces were dairy/egg free, if the mushrooms and onions were cooked in butter etc. streamlining the menu so customers don't have to ask all these questions would be very helpful. 2 stars added for the bartender hopping in and trying to fix the mess. read more

Came here last minute but they got us in right away. Husband and buddy both got the mahi mahi special and they said it was AMAZING!! I got the steak salad...sooo good!!! Has a good amount of beers abs a lot of local brews as well. Dessert- get whatever they have that is banana fosters!! OMG- was amazing!! Our waitress, Rose, was darling!! One person did not ever get their food. They did not say the chicken dish was not available until after everyone else was served. Then she asked for chicken tenders and after one of us went to the serving counters were we able to get two. This is after the rest of us had eaten. They said more tenders would be brought but it never happened either. The fries were cold and nothing was really hot. I understand the situation of not enough help but then the seating needs to be limited not just REALLY poor service. We live in the area and enjoyed going there. We will NOT go back. read more

This was the first place we ate after a loooooong flight and an ever longer day. The service was so wonderful and friendly and the food even better. I got the freshly fried hush puppies and the fish tacos. So delicious! This place was so good, we decided to eat there again in the five days we were in Hawaii. The service was fantastic the next time as well, even though we had a party of eight. This time, I tried the goat cheese bruschetta--- so yummy! The restaurant is located in the Kings Shop near Waikaloa Village (the Hilton resort). It's nice to have an option so close by without the resort prices. read more

This place was a great find. A lot of other restaurants shut down and so we stumbled upon this one. My partner had the Cajun shrimp pasta and loved it. I got the BBQ chicken sandwich and it was really good. I asked for extra BBQ sauce and that took it to a higher level. And then we splurged for the lilikoi cheesecake and it was an absolutely delicious way to end the meal. But I have to say what really nailed it home for us was our server. When we have a great server, we like to acknowledge them by name. Ours was Rob (or Rob M as shown on our receipt). The guy was one of the most attentive and quick servers I've ever seen. The moment we asked for something, he had it quickly and was totally pleasant about it. And he even brought items before we asked, like more water and extra napkins. We sat for a while until someone finally came up to take our drinks order because our original waiter never came around...warning sign 1. Someone in our group has food allergies and requested her mixed drink order made with some alterations, the wait staff decided to make a comment about it...warning sign 2. When we finally got around to place our food orders, again, needing to request food alterations due to allergies and the wait staff rolled his eyes, cuts the patron off, saying something about having to check and stormed off...came back and said no alterations can be made and stormed off again and basically proceeded to take care of all of his other tables and skipping coming to ours. What was supposed to be a nice evening out to celebrate a birthday and anniversary, was made awful by our server. Although our bar experience was less than stellar, we kept our hopes up. We were limited on restaurants and didn't make any reservations so decided to give this place a try. Our waitress was great, very attentive and the drinks were good. The food was not so great. I had a cup of gumbo, literally it was like a tea cup of gumbo. I didn't realize how small it would be otherwise I would've ordered the bowl. I also ordered the pasta primavera which consists of penne pasta tossed in basil marinara. The dish that was served had linguine pasta in tomato sauce. No penne in sight. Even though I'm not a pro chef, I know the difference btwn penne and linguine pasta. I couldn't taste any basil in the sauce and half of the linguine was uncooked, stuck together in chunks, totally inedible. Worst pasta dish ever. I didn't bother mentioning it to the waitress bc the kids and I were starving. The garlic bread that was served with the pasta and gumbo was ok, it was more like toast but it was partially burnt on one side. The side that was visible when served was not burnt. One star for the waitress, one star for the drinks. Maybe it was a new cook or just a bad night to dine here. I did notice a table near us who did order linguine so maybe the cook was trying to take cooking short cuts and make everyone's pasta the same. Definitely not ok to improvise without the customer or management knowing. I won't be coming back here nor recommending it esp if my meal costs over $100 and I wasn't happy with it. read more

Finding an eating spot that doesn't have gap hours proved to be a bit difficult in the village. Luckily this place opened right as we almost gave up. Two different spots turned us down because they close down certain hours. The menu is approachable and familiar. Fosters is a scratch kitchen using local fresh ingredients. My friend and I weren't terribly hungry and both got small plates. This was the perfect amount of food. Parking was a breeze. We enjoyed everything and our server was friendly as well. We were looking forward to a great meal after looking at the ratings. Unfortunately many things went wrong with our take out order to enjoy on the beach. Bottom line, check your orders before you leave. 1st: Salads we ordered requesting dressing on the side, but came with no dressing. 2nd: Kids menu side of fries was not in our package. Kids were disappointed so I called and went back to go get the fries. Went to restaurant and was not helped for several minutes. And then when given the food, no apologies for inconvenience or the lack of attention to detail and no offer for condiments. Had to ask somebody else since the person who gave me the side was too busy to help and said they will be right back. They didn't come right back... 3rd: Side of fries were soggy and burnt but i I definitely wasn't going to wait again for another batch as I had given up on this place. While staying at a nearby resort, we decided to place a to-go order from Foster's Kitchen. After reading a lot of great reviews we went with the cajun fish tacos and whipped goat cheese bruschetta. Both items were delicious and cooked perfectly. The cajun tacos were seasoned perfectly. We love a well seasoned fish taco and Foster's Kitchen definitely did not skimp on the seasoning. The Bruschetta was also really good. We loved the balsamic glaze over the bruschetta itself. I do wish it had a bit more whipped goat cheese, but overall it was still really tasty. One of the employees was having a heated discussion with the manager or owner right in front of the customer bathrooms about some kind of internal dispute. This was very unprofessional. Tonight was our first time in and the experience wasn't good. If it weren't for our awesome server Lisa we'd probably have just left without eating. Burnt hush puppies w/separated honey butter. "Gumbo" which had a single piece of sausage and a metric ton of rice and celery. No Cajun flavors to speak of and it's clear the kitchen doesn't know how to make a roux. And, pimento "cheese" so thin it runs off a spoon. Main course was blackened Cajun shrimp and grits, Hawaiian style with a fried egg. Check out the pics! Shrimp with no seasoning, watered down grits you literally slurp, and whatever that vomit on top is that was supposed to be the fried egg. Husband was originally delivered the wrong dish...ahi stir fry instead of a salad. That got fixed pretty quickly, thankfully. I should have believed all the reviews here where many date 2+ years stating similar issues with the food. Again, our server was the sweetest, on top of game, post-COVID server we've had the pleasure of being served by. I hope the restaurant can get their kitchen in order! Went during lunch and sat out on the patio. Nice breezy views. The server was awesome even though it seemed she had many, many tables outside and kept getting double seated. The food was yummy. We had had artichoke flatbread for starters which was nice and light. For entrees we ordered chicken pesto (which was my fave) and loved the crispy toast served alongside, steak house pasta, bbq chicken (they were out of ribs), and the chicken fingers and cheeseburger off the kids menu. Absolutely everything tasted delicious, the server was warm and friendly, and the atmosphere was truly relaxing! I will definitely be back the next time I'm on island. read more

Service was a bit uneven our first visit. Did love that the menu had GF options clearly labeled. We ordered the grilled calamari appetizer = $14 for a very sparse amount. Maybe 8 thin slices of flat grilled squid. Definitely priced too high for this and nothing special about it. Would not order this again. I asked for a medium-rare burger (no bun) and got charred medium well. Rest of family was 3/4 through their fish and chips before my redone burger came back out...a bit less done but still tasted off/burned on the outside so didn't eat more than a bite. Fries were super uneven in presentation - about half of the order was regular size fries the rest was just bits and pieces. Three orders came out this way. This happened on our second visit as well where two of our entrees came with fries. Fish and chips was rated ok by two of three of group. Fish was a bit on the dry side. Our server did notice that the burger was almost entirely uneaten and kindly removed it from our check and a nice apology. Very classy move. She was new there but definitely had a good handle on customer service. We returned two nights later and ordered new items. Half order of BBQ chicken with two sides for me translated into a skin boneless breast of chicken. Not sure what made it BBQ - it just tasted grilled. It was dry and again with the odd fries. Side salad was good size that came with it. I definitely would not have ordered this had the menu specified skinless and boneless. I went back to the menu and double checked after getting home. Not sure why they would not serve this with bone in and skin on? Husband ordered BBQ Ribs which came on bone as expected and were quite good. Pretty nice portion as well. Daughter ordered cheesy grits with blacked shrimp which she thought was fine. Nice vinegary greens came in the middle of it. Other kid decided not to try this place again.
