But there are a lot of school age kids hanging out playing card games and racing around the parking lot. This would be a good place to grab a drink and walk around the lake or if you had kids to let them socialize with others while you worked. Visited Foundry today for the first time, and will not be revisiting. Watery, overpriced coffee served by someone clearly unhappy to be there. Visited the "kids zone" with our one year old (specified ages under 5), and quickly left due to lack of parental supervision of other kids who pushed my child. Also worth noting that the kids zone was an empty room with one play structure and no capacity limits. Too many other GOOD coffee places with playgrounds around KC to ever come back. read more

I tried this coffee house out the other day and it was a quiet reprieve to enjoy a latte. I had an almond milk vanilla iced latte that was pretty good. They have various tables and chairs, a leather couch and two leather chairs and also outdoor seating. They also have an enclosed playroom for children 5 and under which is very nice! The service was good and the young woman brought out our beverages to us where we were sitting. They had a quiet playlist playing in the background and it was a relaxing atmosphere. read more

I'm always on the lookout for places to take my littles and Foundry Coffeehouse has been our spot! I can get great coffee and they can play in the indoor playground! Win-win for everyone! So if you are plugging this one into your GPS, just know that Foundry is *inside* of its parent church building. The coffee bar is open separate hours other than just on Sundays, but on Sundays, you could attend a church service and get your coffee. Win/win! I love the space, with its high ceilings, comfortable seating, and robust Wi-Fi, making it a wonderful place to work or just get together. And oh yeah, the coffee. Foundry makes a great regular roast and works hard to make outstanding artisanal coffee drinks. Even a hot cup of cocoa is done just right and pairs spectacularly with many of their pastry offerings. Another perk is Foundry's proximity to the pond and walking paths at Sar-Ko Park. I have been known to get my coffee and then walk across the parking lot to one of the benches in front of the pond, just a serene experience watching the ducks on pleasant mornings. I highly recommend a piece of their cinnamon coffee cake to accompany your coffee. Pro tip: get it warmed up. Prices are standard for similar fare elsewhere but the value is in the friendly service and welcoming space. There is a really solid kids' play area (with an age limit) giving families with littles a great option. As long as you're cool going into a church for a cup of coffee, this place is decent. I've been here maybe 4 times and the person working behind the counter is never particularly very nice (even though it's been a different person each time), but we keep coming back because it's handy. There's a little area with an indoor playground that'll keep your kids under the age of 6 entertained for at least 30 minutes. And it is right next to Sar Ko Par Park and you can pick up the trail around the lake from their parking lot. So in short, don't expect very friendly service but it is a convenient place for a cup of coffee before heading to the park. read more

This coffeehouse is tied to the Foundry church. I found the church on my way to play pickleball one day. I started to attend church and kept coming back, but this review is for the coffeehouse. It's absolutely great! My barista that day was Greg who is also the youth leader. My pickleball partner had an early day of pickleball and we weren't quite awake yet so we stopped here after a few rounds of games to get a pick-me-up and it didn't disappoint. I love that they have a really clean and nice facility to get coffee and sit and chat. Their proceeds do go to organizations they partner with so it makes me feel good to support them. They seem to have a rather extensive menu and local coffee manufacturers from around here. If you are ever in the area, please drop by to get a nice cup of coffee. You won't regret it! read more

I guess the whole place is in a church and free to use during open hours. We didn't actually order anything. We went so our daughter could have a play date with her BFF, so we played in the play room in the cafe. The people we were with ordered a drink and the service was good. They had a folk band practicing while we were playing, which was kind of nice. They have a big play room but only a small piece of play equipment. Maybe nice for them to buy more or buy a bigger new one. They also have a basketball court and from what I understand they have open times for kids to come in play. read more

A hidden coffee place to be! First time here. Thought they were closed because the phone number listed is disconnected. They've updated their phone number to 913-888-2722. They've been here for over 15 years. It is connected to (in the same building as) the Cedar Ridge Christian Church. Their coffee is pretty good! I had the Caramel macchiato. They just don't have milk substitute besides soy. I prefer coconut milk. I can stay here and relax while my toddler play in the indoor play area. She loves all the slides. There's a beautiful view of a pond. They have plenty of space to lounge and seating outside as well. It would be an awesome place for students to study since the space is so big; twice to three times as big as Starbucks. When you get a little sleepy you can go outside and take a walk around the pond. read more

This is the best place to come and bring your kids, especially during these winter months! They have an excellent playroom for young kiddos and a gym where you can bring equipment like bikes for your older kids to play with. The coffee here is excellent and they have a good selection of pastries and snacks as well. My kiddo loves to come here and play and it is so nice that coming here to play as a free activity that gets my kid out of the house!! read more

This is a full definition of what is special in this world. A church developed a coffee house right on a beautiful park. Coffee roast was good and they had a good selection of sugar free syrups. It is a hidden gem. Not only do they have a coffee bar, there is a climbing wall, great outdoor seating, a large gym and an under 5 play room all at no charge. It is a community outreach program. The barista are volunteers as well. I don't know how they could have made this place any better. Great wifi too. I would suggest this to anyone, but is perfect for parents that would like to offer some play time and social time for their kids. Keep it up!!! read more

This is a comfy coffee shop in a local church. It has a great atmosphere for studying, since you don't have to fight for a spot to sit, like in most other coffee shops or cafes. The play area right off the coffee shop is handy for any play date - with a small slide, play-set, and stage all in a cute tree-themed room. Cute little place inside of a church. Lots of space and a great work environment. There is an indoor playground for kids five and under but it is closed off and no louder than going to a coffee shop. They have your standard drinks. Drip coffee is not great but it does the trick. They have pastries but just from Sam's Club. At times there are things made by the congregation. Overall a cute place and great to bring kids to for free and to burn off some energy while you enjoy caffeine or a smoothie.
