I had the pleasure of attending a networking event there. There was limited parking on the side of the building as well as across the street. Although I am not a big drinker, there weee tons of options to select from. I chose water on this evening. The event didn't provide food so can't speak to that. I did like the environment and they have a mission which the host spoke of. Everyone else's friendly and engaging outside of the networking aspect of the program. We went to Chattanooga last month with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday. I came across Fountainhead Taproom on Untappd, when looking for a brewery or taproom with highly rated beers. Fountainhead had the best selection, by far! They have a huge list of beers, ciders, wines, etc on tap. They even had a cold brew coffee on tap, as well as a full bar. The taps are self-pour, so you get a card when you come in that you touch above the tap you want to pour from, and it measures how much you pour in your glass. Then at the end of the night, you close out your tab and it totals out how much of each drink you got. It's very convenient and easy. They had a full food menu, but we only ordered appetizers because we had planned to go somewhere else for dinner after. We ordered so many orders of the pretzel bites with cheese, though! They were so good, we just continued to order more. Their staff was super nice. We had a large group, so I decided to reserve a table just in case. It was $50 to reserve it, but that went towards our tab. It didn't end up being necessary, but it worked out. After checking out American Draft around the corner (which apparently used to be a self serve tap as well), we stopped here for beer and food. Place was a little crowded on a very rainy Saturday evening. After checking in, we received a card that's used for keeping a tab when you pour. I'm used to wearing a bracelet at self serve taps, so it was odd at first. Beer selection is diverse, but not that huge. Something for everyone. This place is amazing! Pretty much any variety of beer/cider you can imagine trying. The setup is pretty simple, when you walk in flash your id to prove you're 21 and leave a credit card on file. They'll hand you a sip card (similar to game cards) that you'll use to try the variety of beverages. Similar to a self serve yogurt place, you'll place your card at the appropriate machine you want to try, tilt you glass and give the handle a good tug. The price you pay is per ounce, which can be scary if you have a heavy hand, but the screen displays your running total on your card so you're not blind sighted at checkout. There isn't a food menu, but you're welcomed to have something local delivered. There are a variety of board games set up that you can play and relax. Such a chill atmosphere. When you leave, you hand over your sip card and they'll run your credit card for the amount you drank. My husband and I sampled 6 varieties and left paying $16 plus tip. We happened upon this place before going to the Melissa Etheridge Concert At the Walker theater. What a delightful place. The hostess explained the process to us and helped us find our way. What a wonderful and unique concept. So many different varieties from wine, beer, to craft brews, kombucha, mead. Great experience, I highly recommend. They also have a nice selection of eats. Easy to buy a beverage card and then choose from over 60 beers, ciders, and wine to enjoy. Then the staff give you a tour. There are local, regional, and international choices. I chose the driest cider. You can also get food delivered or bring it in so of course we chose a couple appetizers from Southside Pizza. Taquieria Jalisco-Ania next time and it's just down the road. Visited Fountainhead on our visit to Chattanooga. It was very interesting and the interior look was great especially with the exposed brick. They have a large selection of beers, ciders, and wines that are on tap. You pour your own drink and they charge by the ounce. Service was friendly and there is an available lot for parking across the street at no charge. Food was tasty as well. We ordered wings, fountainhead burgers, and the pollo asado tacos. The wings were at average at best, but everything else was really good. The fries were exceptionally good! There's a couple of classic arcades available to play for free. My wife and I came here for the first time recently, and we were quite impressed! The atmosphere is so fun and inviting (there was even a live jazz band playing the night we went), and there is such a variety of drinks on tap that any taste would be satisfied! What a joy to try out a variety of meads, ciders, porters and more from the buy-what-you-pour setup! Most places it feels like a risk to try something new, so it was very refreshing to take as many sips as needed before deciding on what to have more of. The food menu was on point as well. We tried the bbq pork nachos, the rocket burger, and the chicken sandwich, and each of them had depth and layers---not your average pub food. In fact, this was some of THE BEST culinary fare we had on our entire road trip (which included a stop in Asheville and Louisville among others). If we lived in the area, we'd certainly be back at the Fountainhead all the time. Owner Burt Casey and his crew really know how to make foodies smile. This place is great a little expensive but you can test try a lot of different beers and wines since you paid by the ounce. Their IPA list was OK I would say about 10 to 12. However they did have some real interesting chocolate beers and double chocolate stout. Highly recommend this place for a stop off before you're going to eat or going out to a show. Bad news- It took over an hour to get our food- which more than 1/2 the menu was not available. They ran out of regular fries so they substituted sweet potato fries which I really don't like, my bun on my chicken sandwich was cold but the meat was tasty. The Good - we had a vegetarian with us & since most of the menu wasn't available, he asked about ordering a beyond burger & they were willing to make it as a regular burger - just not the one they had on the menu. They don't mind if you bring in your own food items, they're just serving the drinks! And the self serve concept is pretty fun-- They had lots of beers that I already knew I liked, as well as many I would like to try. The owner was super friendly when we spoke. Only downsides of this spot are the parking, which can be tricky in this area and the price. I had two half glasses of beer and left with an over $7 tab, which I consider to be fairly expensive (especially for the beers I chose.) OK, how do I express my thoughts on this one. Yucky, terrible, confusing? We went here because this particular restaurant was over four star. There's no way in hell this place can be over two star. The food was barely edible. Don't order anything. You give the guy your credit card after he checks your ID and he puts a minimum of a $25 charge on it. You take the card and go to one of 30 or so different taps and pour whatever you want. Pretty cool idea right? Nope! Super crappy. I'm not a professional bartender, but I am aware of tilting your glass to the side to reduce the amount of foam come from the tap. Well, basically, it was all fun no matter what you did. When we had completed our beer drinking, which was one glass of Belgian foam for me my husband had a stout, a small little stout, we were at $18. Normally, we can get a delicious chocolate stout super cold pint for eight dollars. That's actually poured for you and brought to you. This place is confusing, not just the patrons are confused but the people who work there are confused. We asked at the front before leaving how much you were charged And they seem quite clueless on what we are being charged for the beers. I asked for a water, and the lady looked over at tall tap at the end of a display with no signage, stating it was water. But I got the look that I was an idiot anyway. We are just passing through and have been to tons and tons of taprooms. This is one of those that we'll never return to, and I wanted to make sure people knew this is not what it seems.
