I've gone several times to look in general and the customer service has always been wonderful. The only place in austin you need to stop if you like high quality, timeless contemporary pieces of furniture at a price that doesn't make you cringe. This place gets new pieces literally every week, everything from beautiful couches, dining tables, accent chairs, outdoor, etc. Sometimes there are small imperfections or discontinued items but in my experience they are often pieces you see now in the four hands showroom. Pretty interesting experience at this place. My husband and were referred to Four Hands by a great friend who furnished the majority of his house. We weren't necessarily looking for anything specific but knew we were downsizing our home which also meant downsizing furniture. I found something in the store that was already "red marked" a few times to a point where the cost of the item was only $95.00. The item was made of an unfinished marble that had two very large chunks broken off and another chunk that was clearly glued back on. In my personal opinion due to the large chunks missing it wasn't worth the $95.00 they were asking. I then went to the lady working the counter and asked her when they would be going back through the store to re-price items that have been "red marked". (Because again...it wasn't worth the $95.00 they were asking.) She informed me "the items have to be on the floor more than 6 months, and you will never see anything less than $95.00 in our store." I then asked what they do after six months and she said "the item goes in the trash." This was all after I had asked her once to reconsider the price and I would take it home with me on the spot...She basically told me that throwing the item in the trash was better than taking my $65.00 I was going to offer her. It wasn't that I couldn't get the piece for what I thought it was worth. I was insulted in the condescending tone in her voice and the fact that a company could be so wasteful. I guess I didn't need extremely broken and over priced furniture for the glam station I was tying to build. If you consider the culture of a company you patron, beware. read more

My wife and I randomly walked into this store one afternoon on our way back from the main Four Hands show room. We were greeted by Jess and after a while she came by to check on us. I recently purchased a cute chest of drawers for my home office and after I uncrated it and set it up, I saw that one of the metal feet was a bit damaged. Not very obvious nor does it affect the stability of the piece but, well, there it was on the back right foot. When I called to inform Four Hands, they were so very nice that I decided I did not really need to return it. Yes, that sounds a tad crazy but after thinking through the hassle of taking it back, waiting for another piece, I'm keeping it. Quite possibly my favorite furniture store in Austin. Be careful, you can drop some serious cash here. Not because it's really expensive. On the contrary, most items here are an exceptionally good deal and you'll say to yourself "how can I not buy everything and re-furnish my entire house?". It's day-by-day and week-by-week. If you go during the first weekend of one month--and then return the first weekend of the following month--it's highly unlikely you'll see any of the same pieces. Point - turnover is high. Don't be discouraged if you go one time and don't see anything you like. Next point - it's important that you walk through the aisles at least twice. They cram a ton into a small space, and you'll likely miss something during your first once-over. Moving on - their stuff is unique. This isn't Star Furniture (or God forbid - that Swedish place). These are higher end, somewhat rustic, partially modern designs. It's highly unlikely that you WON'T find something you like. Beware - much of the items are lightly damaged (scratched, cut, scuffed, dis-colored, etc). However, this light damage will save you lots of $$$. They had a beautiful, small-ish media cabinet with scratches and a small piece cut out of the bottom shelf. I saw the same exact piece at Crate & Barrel for $599. I paid $95 at Four Hands! No returns or exchanges. They'll help you get it into your car/truck. I simply cannot get enough read more

My wife and I are on a first name basis with Anthony- and not only because we have spent a ton of time and money here but because he is a great guy. When you go, and you should definitely go, look for Anthony. I have always been a fan of Four Hands Home, but in the past I felt like they were kind of pigeonholed into the Old World and Asian-styled furniture. In recent years my taste has trended toward more contemporary or at least what I like to think of as "timeless." I must not be alone because FHH has picked up on this too. They still have the Zen type vibe, but they have branched out quite a bit. When that stuff finds its way to the Outlet store it makes for a happy home. I love and hate Four Hands... love their look but will likely stick with their tables, dining chairs, and accents and skip the upholstered stuff. Most of their stuff is awesome looking but the build quality leaves much to be desired. The Home store (retail) is just too expensive for the quality...you're paying for the look only so buyer beware. The outlet is better price-wise but finding pieces that are not massively damaged can be challenging. This weekend, we went out shopping for a nice reading chair and a tan leather chair at the outlet was in the top running but I was surprisingly disappointed with the build quality after peaking underneath... on a $1000 leather chair ($1600 retail) I found that the spring base was made of stretchy bands (like a beach chair) instead of steel and the joints were stapled and glued...very cheap construction that makes me question their quality in general. Great deals can be found though...we love their accent pieces, even managed to find a massive 30x50 print for $125 a couple months ago. read more

I should say this place is awful, because I really don't want to encourage anyone else to buy something awesome before I can get to it...but I won't do that. This place is incredible in terms of the savings and selection. I want to furnish my entire life with Four Hands stuff, and the Outlet is the only way I'd ever afford to be able to do that. Beyond my expectations when it came to customer service. We ordered two items that unfortunately were damaged in transit. I spoke to Cierra and she was quick to take care of the situation and make it right. They had two new items shipped to us the next day and made sure we were satisfied with the results. This is a great place if you're looking for a bargain. They make stuff for Restoration Hardware, West Elm, Anthropologie, and etc. so you'll probably see some stuff here that you recognize. We were on the hunt for a dining room table and we found it at a fraction of the cost here. It was a solid Acacia table with metal legs for under $700 when it retails for $1800+. Granted there were a few scratches on the edge of the table, but nothing major that really stood out, but for over 66% off, we'll take it! You do have to make sure that you love it (imperfections and all) because all sales are final and delivery for 1-4 pieces start at $100 for essentially 2 guys and a rented truck. read more

After a two-long year hunt for a dining room table, I finally found the perfect one at Four Hands Furniture Outlet. Bonus, it was more than half off retail! Bonus, they had one new in the box! The staff at the point of sale were good. Their MO is to let you wander around, which is a refreshing change from most furniture places where the sales people hover over you. (At the same time, the table was tucked away in a corner and I almost missed it.) Delivery fees start at $100. So, if you can't take it home, be prepared to add that to the cost. A huge shout-out to Gary for helping us with a non-standard request to track down and ship a large item to an out of state location. They don't ship from this store but Gary went out of his way to help us arrange independent shipping for the item. He put up with our frequent phone calls to take photos of the item to make sure it was the exact item we were looking for and photos of the packaging to make sure it was packed appropriately for cross-country transit. He could have said no to the request as it's something they are not set-up to do, but he didn't. He went out of his way to make it happen.
