One of my most favorite restaurants. The Mussels Marinara is to die for! I always get a tray of them when I have or go to a party and I definitely get it when I dine in. It's not fancy, but it's comfortable (you don't have to dress up) and the food -- a varied, but basic menu -- is prepared well and satisfies. My husband I came here for dinner last Saturday night and had a wonderful meal. I am sitting in the restaurant as we speak. If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. From the second myself and my family stepped in the restaurant the attitude of the staff was appalling. We had a 7:30 reservation which we waited over a half hour to be seated. When we asked how long until our table was going to be ready we were told by staff "everyone has a reservation you have to wait. " Okay so then why would someone make a reservation? Next they tell us there is a problem with our table which the floor is uneven which is making the table uneven. Their answer to is was "it doesn't bother us if it doesn't bother you" Mind you we are party of 8 with a reservation. We were told we would have to wait another hour if we didn't want this table. So we were left cramped in the corner. Next we order drinks with slow service. Empty bottles and glasses left on the tables and Our tables were never cleaned after appetizers. We stared at dirty plates until our food came. Then our food came out cold and way under cooked. Medium hamburgers came out rare and bleeding. We sent our food back and it came out under cooked again. It looked like they just threw it on the grill for two minutes and put it back on the same plate. 4 people in our party went home without eating dinner and we were never offered anything else on the menu instead. We were told by our waitress they make a million burgers a night and left to stare at our uncooked food on the table. We asked for a manager and our waitress said she was the manager. No management skills and the worst attitude. It's sad when a manager of a big restaurant has to serve tables. I can not stress enough to not come here. What an embarrassment to bring my family here. My husband and I went here for dinner last weekend for the very first time, even though we grew up in the area. So glad we finally made it in! The inside of the restaurant is interesting, Very dark... which we liked since we were on a date :) We were seated by a very sweet hostess near the fireplace and entertainment which made the night really fun. Great entertainment, everyone seemed to love him. Our waitress was Jill and she was OUTSTANDING. She brought us our drinks fast, and seems to magically know when we needed refills. The restaurant was packed and we still felt like we were the only ones there. She knew the menu up and down, like she wrote it herself. She gave us suggestions and she was spot on. I had lobster ravioli and a filet mignon and my husband had a strip steak. Seriously the best steak I've ever had! The lobster ravioli were great too... and interesting to look at (striped). For dessert we had some sort of chocolate mocha cake and I nearly died it was so good! If you go all out like we did (2 drinks each, apps and entrees) you'll spend about $100, but we were there enjoying ourselves for 2 hours, so well worth it for a great night of delish food and live entertainment. We'll definitely be back soon, and we'll request Jill if she's there. read more

This used to be my favorite steak restaurant, but the last few times have been terrible. The most recent time being the last straw. We arrived on a Sunday night (Memorial Day weekend) at 630. I was shocked there was no wait,but would soon realize why. The restaurant was hot when we got there so k asked for them to turn on the air. They did not but it was warm, not unbearable. As more tables arrived it soon became uncomfortable and I asked yet again for the air. Finally, when the thermostat reached 80 another table asked and it was turned on. But I could live with just that and there would be no need to degrade my initial 4 star review. But the waitress (Judy) was the worst I have ever encountered. She had no personality and failed to check up on the table several times. Later I realized why. There was 7 of us so that meant she was adding on a 20% service charge and was getting a nice chunk of change no matter what! Also, the place raised it's prices to rival that of an Atlantic city casino steakhouse. They must really be hurting because they couldn't even fully change the menus to reflect the new prices instead there were stickers obviously placed over the old prices. Sorry, when I'm paying over $30 for a steak that's TACKY! Because of the absurd price changes, Judy, and the unwanted tropical climate I will NEVER return. The bartenders were attentive and pleasant. My husband had the crab bisque to start and it was great. My dinner salad was small with very little variety. The seafood combo was very overcooked. Been going here for years and always on point, never had a problem until last night. Server Lauren was the rudest waitress I have ever come across, from the moment we sat down, enough for even my 14 year old daughter to comment. I ordered a piece of salmon and a house salad, side of broccoli and she charged me $25! When I called her over to question the price I was told there was no manager on duty and the chef won't consider changing the price, as I was mid sentence she shook her head and walked away.....enough said.... read more

I have loved this restaurant for more than 14 years. The food is great and consistent. Tonight, the service was awful. Juliet, our server who has been there for years, was awful. She seemed to be annoyed with something. That's fine, but when in the service business, you have to keep yourself together. She took forever to approach our table. Delivered our food, but forgot a side. We waited for awhile. When we asked her about the fries, she told us we would get them when she did. Our meal was finished and cleared before fries were delivered. It was our worst experience there. Won't be rushing back soon. read more

When entering the Four Winds you are greeted with an enthusiastic staff in a cozy atmosphere. The restaurant is split with an open table side area, perfect for large groups and the bar with smaller tables on the other. The menu caters to different types of food and they offer a great selection of seafood meals compared to other places. The bar is always stocked and they feature a lot of good craft beers as well as domestics. I highly recommend the sizzling steak to anyone who has yet to try this entree! read more

Went for my first meal here with friends last night. I was completely unimpressed. The seating arrangements are cramped, service is slow. I understand that it's a restaurant that's best geared towards someone in the market for beef. A friend had the prime rib and was pleased with the cook and flavor, but my turkey burger was sub par. Sweet potato fries were greasy, and our plates were being cleared while we were still chewing. The restaurant was jam packed, so I'm sure it's popular for a reason. Good food, great live music, but I was there on a Saturday night and when I went up to the hostess she said they didn't have my reservation when I called the day before to make it. I had to wait at least an hour to get a table for four. I do not recommend coming on a Saturday for a sit down dinner, maybe just go to the bar or get take out. read more

Went to four winds with friends and the food and service was good unfortunately we did not realize 20% gratuity was added to the bill for 6 or more people so I waitressed got another 20% on top of that . The bill seemed a little high and even though it was an oversight on our part I still feel like the waitress should have mentioned the tip was already included when she saw the extra money. read more

This restaurant is walking distance to my house. Unfortunately, it will probably be another year before we try it again. We waited about 5 minutes to be greeted by our server -Juliet, which is ok because it was busy. I ordered the chicken francaise, which they have a choice between 1 or 2 pieces. It came out with 2 huge pieces and I asked if I was being charged for the large order. Her response, "you didn't tell me you wanted the 1 piece size". Well, you didn't ask. When dinner came, we had to ask for bread because we never received it, although the other tables had bread with their salads. She says, "Oh, you want bread?". Yes, please, I would like the bread that comes with my meal. She brings over a basket with 2 rolls, when there are 4 people at the table. I think it is time for a career change, vacation or retirement. If I wanted to have dinner with a passive aggressive individual, I would have invited my mother-in-law. We were two couples and all have been here before. It was always a nice place to go and the steaks good, but last night 2 of us ordered the special Lobster Francaise and they will not see us for a very very long time. Went with my son to sit at the bar a grab a bite and a couple of beers. No HD signal on big screen tvs, so the picture quality was disappointing while watching the second half of the Broncos-Seahawks game. Steamers were excellent. Decent selection of draft beers. My shrimp sandwich was pretty good, but the menu said it is served with potato chips and it wasn't. My son enjoyed his burger. read more

This was my first time here and it was a hot Sunday evening. The restaurant was warm and a little uncomfortable. I had the Sunday turkey dinner, the portion was so large I couldn't finish it and it was delicious. My wife had the shrimp parmigiana which was also good. The young waitress was attentive and nice though the service was slow. My family will definitely go back when it's a little cooler outside which may improve the inside temperature. read more

Hello all, I would like to defend a certain Server who has been serving my family since we first started coming to the Four Winds many years ago. I've never gone on to the four Wiinds site till now and I couldn't believe a few comments I was reading. Most reviews were as expected, excellent as my experiences are. This past Saturday night as well. However My wife and I just happen to be in the restaurant in the beginning of the summer when an incident occured. It was a simple case of a steak not being cooked to the customers liking. No big deal, but the customers sure made sure it became one. I happen to get a good look at that steak seeing how we were sitting within 6 feet of the rather anoying table. There would not have been any issues if the person knew how they liked their food cooked. It looked perfect to me, having cooked in the earlier days. DONNA. O wrote a horrible review which basically SLANDERED the good name of Juliet, a server at the Four Winds for many years. I witnessed Juliet try to treat these people with respect that anyone should deserve, but this party wouldn't have it. They were as rude as they come, and thought they were better than most, and tried to prove it by taking it out on their waitress Juliet. Which happened to be the unlucky waitress that had to serve these people that evening. Watching Juliet keep her composier throughout the whole ordeal only solidifies my good thoughts about her and the restaurant. If they read this, you (Donna O and company) should be ashamed of yourselves. Really! PS: in reference to another review about leaving a deposit for large reservation on a holiday. Whats the big deal cheapo. Its a deposit that your going to spend anyway. So next time go to Jack Bakers first and eat all the crap food you want. Horrible service, the burgers that we ordered medium were beyond well done and not edible. The waiter, Chase, was unattentive and the place was very slow, he never refilled our waters, or brought us more napkins or asked how our meal was. Then at the end when we paid our bill, he never brought back any change, he just kept it and we never told him to keep the change, he just pocketed it without our permiision. It wold have amounted to over 25% tip. I had to go and confront him at the bar. Skip the Four WInds and go to Squan Tavern! read more

This place was a huge disappointment to say the least. Love to try new places and this was one of the worst experiences I have had in years. The wait staff was great hence the one star I am giving. However the rest of the experience was so bad I would not only not recommend but advise against going. We had a few apps that were mediocre. But to make a long story short, my mom ordered a meal that included seafood so off that the entire plate actually smelled like rotting meat. It turned all of us off our food. My mom ( who never complains ) sent it back. The manager/ owners response was that yes the fish was off/ rotten but these things happen. We took our friends to Four Winds for dinner last night and had one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a restaurant! First of all, our waitress juliette, seemed rushed. Our friend ordered sirloin steak medium rare. I ordered a fish dish with crabmeat. When we called Juliette over because my friends steak was over cooked and very dry, she insisted that it was cooked correctly and would not take it back. At that point he just said he didn't want it. She took it away and never came back to offer anything else. My meal was totally tasteless! We asked for the manager several times. Finally one of the busboys told us he was not there. When my friend went up to speak to someone at the bar, Juliette took brought the steak back out from the kitchen and told the barmaid it was cooked correctly. How classless. She was rude and condescending to all of us. I couldn't eat my meal because it was so bad. I will never go there again. There's too many good restaurants that no how to treat people in this area. read more

My wife and I have been here several times for dinner and have always enjoyed the service and food. We had Thanksgiving reservations at our traditional place which is Jack Bakers Lobster Shanty in Point Pleasant. However with the Hurricane, Jacks was damaged and they were unable to open in time for Thanksgiving. We were able to get a table for four at the Four WInds since we normally take my Aunt and Uncle with us at for Turkeyday. The four winds took a deposit when we phoned in our reservations of around 50% of $25.95 PP. They had two options, the one we took which meant that the dinner was brought out to you or you could've went for the $28.95 PP option if you had 5 or more folks and they brought the bird to your table, carved it and brougt all the sides to your table. When we arrived for our 3:30 seating, the place was busy and they sat us down at a table for four which really should be for two right in the middle of everyone coming and going to the kitchen/bathrooms and the rest of the diningroom. We had a small soup or salad prior to the main course. When the main course arrived it was served on a huge ass plate that of course had to fit the turkey/stuffing/mashed potatoes/sweet potatoes/string beans that were tough and carrot slices that were the size of half dollars. When you add 4 plates total and try and make them fit on a small table for 4 adults, it just won't work. The turkey and stuffing were okay. We only had two choices for dessert, what seemed to be apple strudel and pumpkin pie. Overall a disappointment. read more

My ratings are based on the food only, not on decor. But, upon my first impression...this place looks like it was THE place to be in 1990. Probably still has the same customers too...(sorry). Appetizers were good and cocktails were okay. My husband had the filet mignon and lobster. The filet was tender and cooked perfectly, but lacked flavor. After reading through some of the other reviews, I see that as a common complaint (which I expected to see). I'm surprised that the restaurant's food is STILL lacking flavor after it's been mentioned more than once (wake up chef / mgmt)!!?? I ordered the veggie burger. I was happy to see they make their own, unlike many other restaurants with veggie burgers. When I got the burger it came with a side of lettuce and tomato. I sent the tomato back. It was pale. Literally a tomato that looked like it had the flu. How do you serve a WHITE tomato that is clearly supposed to be red. Anyway. Back to the burger. Sadly, flavor was the issue with the burger also. It was just mushy. I can take mushy, but I can't take lack of flavor. I had 2 bites and that was it. Sometimes ketchup can help...this was not one of those times. I did tell the server, and she did offer to get me something else (which I declined, I had saved my appetizer, so ate that). I also didn't want a manager to come over, but I didn't have to worry because no-one did. The place was packed though. I thought that was odd, but...then I remembered the clientele (refer to my second sentence). I'll never go back here. Service was excellent though. Management...I didn't see a manager. My husband and I went to Four Winds for an early New Year's dinner. Was seated immediately and our waitress I believe her name was Judy was very pleasant. I had the prime rib and my husband had the filet mignon. Both were excellent. Everything...our Bloody Mary's, salad and rolls were very good. I couldn't finish all of my prime rib so I cut off any fat and was left with a beautiful piece of meat to take home. The bus boy took my plate to wrap the meat to go. We then had a cappuccino which had a strange taste and I wouldn't recommend. The bus boy returned my to-go meat and we left. When I got home I opened the container the meat that was in it was not the meat I had on my dish. It was a fatty, grizzily piece of meat. Unfortunately I didn't check it in the restaurant as I would of called the manager. Where my meat went I do not know. So if you want to take something home ask for the container and take care of it yourself. read more
