Didn't get to try the food the one star is for the wait. I was told 15 to 20 min after 45 min I was told its really really busy I can't give you a time an hour later I gave up and left. Went here for my birthday with my husband and two teenagers. For starters my husband and I ordered dirty Martinis. They were very small and very dirty(barely vodka) For appetizers we ordered a few different things. I was excited for the shrimp cocktail- it was $18 so I was expecting something good. The presentation was horrible a few shrimp laying on a plate with cocktail sauce and saltine crackers in a package. We all ordered burgers / my son and myself had to send our burgers back because they were so raw they were falling apart. Also my son had two top buns on his burger and my daughter had two bottom buns. The chef was horrible. They took my burger off the bill but not my sons. The waiters words were "I'm so embarrassed" no one came to talk to us from management. You would think sending two raw burgers back would be concerning but none one came to talk to us or tried to make things better. We will never go there again. We were very pleased with our meal. I had the scallop Franchaise, my parents had the slick steak on garlic points and my husband had the prime rib. All with crispy fries. I was happy that I had an abundance of scallops and not just 4 or 5. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating especially since we had my 19 month old with us. Overcooked fish, rubber oysters, sandy clams. Service was ok. Forgot one side dish. Kept clearing our silverware with each course but didn't replace it. Drinks ere empty more than full. The place is loud, crowded and dated. (Like old school wood paneling and fake fish in the walls dated). Interesting space that one would never knew existed unless you stepped through the red door and enjoyed the vista. Very packed and everyone on staff seemed to be running like chickens with their heads cut off. Ordered the prime rib and it was very good but could use more seasoned crust. The tricolor collie flower was perfect. All in all it seems like a spot I'd make my usual hangout. Oh and before you go, it's pricey but I think you will enjoy the trip. read more

Another great dinner out at the Four Winds! The familiar menu has many excellent options as well as specials that change daily. Loved the Four Winds until they asked for a $25 deposit just to make a Mother's Day reservation. Are they kidding? I was told that they always require such a deposit on holidays but my family & I have gone to the Four Winds for Mother's Day the last several years & we were never asked for a deposit. My party of 7 will be dining at the Lobster Shanty this year-no deposit was required to make a reservation there. The 4W should re-think this boneheaded policy. read more

Ordered the clams combo and boy where the little neck clams minuscule. When I pointed this out to our server Emily her first response did I want order 6 as this portion obviously didn't fill me up. At $10.95 are you kidding me. Wouldn't make an adjustment saying that I already ate them. Not true as I purposely saved one to show her how tiny they were. I asked for a manager and she told me she was the acting manager on Sunday. Offered me a free dessert which I refused as I couldn't wait to pay my bill and get out of there never to return. We go to Four Winds all the time, one of the best steaks in the area and the staff is always good. Last night we went for dinner, the hostess was nice, everyone was smiling and friendly, but Jackie went the extra mile and I was beyond impressed. Then we heard her with her other tables and they were beyond impressed. Then the tables started talking about her because she was hands-down the most pleasant, attentive, professional and fun server we're had in years! The older couple next to us were raving, so I figured I'd give her the props she deserves on Yelp. I don't know Jackie, never met her before, was just blown away! Last two times we've eaten here has been terrible...undercooked steaks-menu states medium is pink center it comes purple..then they tell you it's the lighting...after full explanation to waitress on cook however chef thinks just a pink center...mgr comes to tell me she owns the place and if I don't know how to order I shouldn't eat steak!! I've been dinning at the Four Winds since I was a little girl, it's been over 25 years that myself and family have been going there to eat. This is the best place that I've ever had Prime Rib! I have been a long time customer of this restaurant, the steaks have always been the best. However, I dined there last night and was highly disappointed. I ordered the Steak Diane (which I always do), but, it was extremely tough and fatty. I sent the steak back, the waitress asked if I would like something else, I declined to get another meal. Then we received the bill, and the steak is still on it. I questioned the waitress as to why it would still be on the bill and she returned with the "manager". The "manager" came over to our table with a to-go box that had a steak in it that was clearly not the one I returned. The one I had returned was an entire steak, this one was 3/4 eaten. It was actually the one that another person at our table was finished with. The "manager" proceeds to say that we would've been more than happy to get you something else but you declined. She said the best she could do was take 1/2 off for the meal that I got. So, I had to pay for half of a meal that I never even ate. This is just POOR business. The establishment should be ashamed of themselves!!!! Being someone that has been in the restaurant business for more than 20 years, its awful business practice to not go above and beyond for your loyal customers. read more

2 weeks ago, on Sat night, my husband and I ate here. It may have been the most disappointing experience we have had in a restaurant. We were quickly shown to our table where we sat for more than 10 minutes, observing the activity, and had NO ONE approach us for our drink order or anything else. My husband finally asked the hostess to please find our waitress and a few minutes later she showed up, not in the least concerned that we had been waiting for her for an unusually long period of time. Having had PLENTY of time to peruse the menu and concerned if we would ever see her again, we placed our dinner order. Dinner arrived and my husband was given stuffed flounder, rather than the stuffed shrimp he had ordered. Our waitress repeatedly insisted she had written down flounder, insinuating my husband was mistaken. WHAT??? We proceeded to share my order and when his shrimp arrived probably another 10 minutes later, he asked her to send it back, he was full from what we had shared . In no way was his order expedited to arrive in a reasonable amount of time. This experience was unpleasant but the subsequent activity of this establishment was stunningly unprofessional. A post from Four Winds appeared on my Instagram feed and I commented on our experience. MY COMMENT WAS DELETED. I was now angered by this unprofessional behavior so I posted again. MY COMMENT WAS AGAIN DELETED. BEWARE. This restaurant can not tolerate any criticism and rather than apologize for our troubling dinner,they repeatedly removed my comments. This restaurant has always been a favorite. Great place to go with small groups (as it is a smaller place) and nice for dinners on the more formal side. A little pricey, but the food is generally quite delicious. The last time I went, I was greeted very warmly by the hostess. The rest of the staff was also accomodating and attentive. My meal (A cheeseburger with a side of fries) was very good, if not one of the top burgers that I've had in the Jersey Shore. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking to enjoy a nice (although somewhat expensive) dinner with family or friends. (Only negative aspect would be that live music seemed crammed and much too loud) read more

Went to have lunch at their bar and dealt with an incredibly nasty young bartender. I believe she is the owners daughter believe it or not! She was short and snappy in her answers as if we were bothering her. She was also very negative towards other employees which only makes patrons uncomfortable. She made us feel badly about being at her bar. On top of that the burgers came out well done as opposed to medium rare. Their menu is over priced for what is served. We will never go back nor will be recommend anyone does. Especially with all of the good food and FRIENDLY service one can get in the area!!! read more

Went for lunch today based on a coupon in a local mailer for $4 off lunch (buy 2 lunches and get $4 off) Highlights: Prompt lunch service, Cajun scallops on salad were nicely done, good fries. Lowlights: No refills on fountain soft drinks @ $2 each. Red peppers on salad and in a wrap were meh - Didn't seem like a fresh ingredient. For the second half of lunch they were rolling kegs around the basement under our table in the bar area (or a similarly loud project). Why we won't go back: They wouldn't take our coupon. It said 'Sandwiches, burgers and lobster not included." We avoided those areas of the menu and ordered a wrap (under 'Wraps' and salad from the specials menu. Our waiter said the coupon is for 'entrees only' and that 'a wrap is a sandwich.' Fair enough, but a misleading coupon got us in the door and influenced our orders. Should have honored it, and lost the chance for return business over $4. read more
