I came here over the football season if I wanted to watch the Patriots play outside of my living room. I live around the corner so I thought it was a good place to watch the game and have a few drinks. There was an eclectic group of people watching the games, which made it a good place. Went for lunch on Saturday afternoon, place was packed, waited 20 minutes for a salad I ordered a buffalo chicken salad with romaine, without dressing, literally got JUST romaine lettuce lettuce and a piece of chicken tossed in buffalo sauce, no croutons, or any other veggies. Halfway through my "salad" I found a chunk of something, god knows what at the bottom of my plate. Literally paid $14 for a piece of chicken and rabbit food. Awesome top notch service. Haven't had that great of service in a long while. They also have great food, affordable prices, and open late! (After 10pm only pizza and appetizers until 12am) I Loved the spinach salad; the chicken on it was so good. It was moist while being fully cooked and not dried out like most places. Hesitant to give a rating at all. Went there the other week at 11pm, I had called an hour prior to ensure their business hours. I was informed they are open until 1am and kitchen closes at 10pm except apps and pizza. At 11:50pm the bartender slammed the check on the counter and proceeded to stare rudely at my friends and I. She began shutting TVs off and wiping the bar around us. We asked her if they were closed to which she replied with an eye roll and said "Yup". This was at 12am. So, I've been in the Fowler House a couple of times since the renovation. I am a disabled man with a small service dog, and each time I visited this establishment, it was a problem, because they wanted to discriminate with my dog. They won't let me sit at the bar. It gets so bad I call Andrew Sheele, the health commissioner. Next time they make me sit at a table (pure discrimination). I order a pastrami sandwich. A very under whelming item for 12- dollars. Worst food I've ever eaten. Sodas were super flat and watered down. Our server kept on rushing and forgot my order only to come over and rudely ask me what I had ordered again. Then they charged us full price for salads when we asked for a side salad. So there goes your tip honey it's now paying for the full priced item! THEN the clam chowder had the consistency of oatmeal and was an off yellow color, the clam strips were super hard. How on earth can someone mess up chicken parm is beyond me.... my chicken was BURNT. The bartender started yelling at us because our waitress closed out our tab and we decided to stay for another drink to watch the Bruin's game. So far I have had the mac and cheese which is good with the buffalo chicken. I do not suggest getting the pizza it is very bland and bready. Make sure you ask for the fries well done because they are known to cook them too lightly. Overall not a bad place to eat but nothing special. Been here several times since the Reno. Every time I was discriminated against because of my service dog. I'm a disabled man and have a small service dog. At Fowler House, Billy won't let me sit at the bar. Says it costs him business. It's pure discrimination. Another time I go there, they make me sit at a table, and I get a pastrami sandwich. This place used to have great pizza... I went there with a friend to celebrate her birthday, the place stunk of seafood when we walked in. We both ordered pizza and onion rings, big mistake!!! The pizza dough seems to be of the frozen variety, not like the fresh dough they used to use. The onion rings were frozen and lacked taste. Very disappointing as I like to see local businesses succeed but do yourself a favor and skip the Fowler House. Haven't been to the Fowler House in a long time and now I know why. The food was tasteless and bland. The waitress very inattentive, twice I asked for bread and butter and never got it. And seriously what restaurant doesn't give you at least 1 refill on soda? $4.00 for two diet Pepsi which was mostly ice!!! We both had steak tips, and while to portion size was big, I had the terriyaki and my friend had the marinade...both were tasteless. I got the creamy lemon cream cake(according to the menu) that was anything but creamy as it was ice cold and hard . $70 for two people is outrageous...Also when another waitress was taking an order two tables over, she had her ass on the table behind her, gross.....next time we will go to Grumpy's steak tips and service are much better... read more

We walked into this place and it smelt like bad fish. We chalked this up to a recently cooked piece of fish and made a mental note to steer clear of the seafood options...but who goes to a restaurant with a sports bar attached for quality seafood? Also, at 8:30pm on a Friday night the restaurant was a ghost town and the bar was half full with mostly regulars. The menu is huge with almost too many options...from burgers, to wings, to pasta options, to steak tips, to pizzas, to seafood entrees, ect. Variety is nice, however when a menu is this expansive it is impossible that everything on the menu is ordered frequently. Then, because the inventory isn't turned over quickly enough, food sits in the freezer or pantry and becomes stale. I would rather see a menu with 15 - 20 items that are freshly prepared than several pages of frozen mediocrity. Most of the appetizers (French fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, ect.) are all frozen, nothing fresh. I ordered a Caesar salad and my wife ordered a cheeseburger club. My salad was clearly pre-made and must have been sitting in a refrigerator for hours. The dish was ice cold and the lettuce was wilted and the croutons were a soggy mush. Furthermore, the salad was dowsed with so much dressing it was dripping off the fork. The frozen hamburger patty in my wife's cheeseburger club was clearly freezer burnt (or worse) and had to be sent back as it was uneatable. My wife then substituted her order with a Caesar salad that was clearly freshly made as her lettuce was crisp, her croutons were crunchy and it was appropriately dressed. Both of us ordered the same item and had drastically different dishes. The one bright spot was our server who was polite, responsive and apologetic. She didn't make us feel bad for sending the cheeseburger back. Also, to be fair she did ask if my salad was OK and I didn't say anything...but at that point we were just looking to get on our way. I believe the Fowler House would be well served by trimming down their menu and focusing on the items they do well...which seemed to be their pizzas which looked quite tasty. read more

Went there a week ago with my SO and another couple, big mistake. Went there because it was convenient and because I heard it was OK. The food in a word is DISGUSTING. My wife had the shrimp scampi which was watered down, and overcooked. My steak tips were chewy and tasted off. Everyone's salads looked like they were made a day ago. One of the other guests had the chicken parm which must of been reheated as it was rubbery. Mentioning this to the waitress resulted in a blank stare as if she didn't care. The Fowler House has been our go to spot for quite a while. We have only had one experience when my wife returned her food as she was unhappy with it. The management was very graceful and comped us a couple of cocktails. I usually get one of the daily specials which are usually very good. My wife goes for the pasta dishes. Last evening we visited the Fowler House and as always the food and service were very good. There was a notice at the door that said the restaurant would be closed for 4 weeks for renovations. That was fine but we were blown away when we learned that everyone would have to reapply for their jobs. Why fix something that isn't broken? The staff and bartenders have always, with no exception that I know of, been friendly, attentive while maintaining their professionalism. My wife and I hope the owners/brothers realize that they have a well oiled machine that needs no adjustment. Good luck to all. read more

My friends and I frequent The Fowler House. Moderately priced, decent comfort food, awesome TVs for watching the game in the bar area, separate, intimate dining area, and fairly attentive servers. However, I would like to touch upon a specific experience that I had here last summer, that still sticks in my mind. My girlfriends and I stopped in on a Friday evening and our waitress was a woman named Mara (perhaps there was an "h" on the end, but as I said, it was nearly a year ago), whom we had never met. She was not very friendly, from the start, almost border lining on rude. As the night wore on, the experience became worse. Just a few examples of the problems we had with her: A friend of mine ordered a Hawaiian pizza, light on the pineapple. Mara broke in and said "I can't control how much pineapple they put on the pizza. I don't make it." When we wanted to pay, we asked to split the check between all five of our credit cards. She said "No, I can only do two." My friend, thinking that maybe she might be new, said, quite politely, "Oh really? Ok, I'm just pretty sure that we've done more than two before." And she snapped, "No, I can't." So one of my friends offered to put the entire thing on her card and have us all pay her back. Mara took the card over to the machine, which was a few feet from us, slid it once, came back and said "It won't work, I tried three times." At this point, I pulled out my credit card and handed it to her. My friend, who's card didn't scan, was a bit annoyed and said "Oh, that's strange. I've never had trouble with it before. Is there any way you could punch the numbers in?" She simply said "No." And began to walk away to try my card. As she left, she muttered, rather loudly, under her breath. My friend said "Excuse me? Did you say something?" She whipped around and said "If I could type the numbers in, I would have TOLD you!" I was pretty livid at this point. As I said, my friends and I go here quite often and we have never had any sort of problems. After we left, I called and asked to speak to the manager, I was given to a manager named (I think) Mike. He listened to the whole story, apologized profusely and told us that he was not sure why she would have told us that she could not split the check five ways, because she could have. He said it may have been because she was fairly new. That would be fine, if we hadn't suggested that to her!!! He told me that he appreciated us letting him know about the problem and that he would address it. He also told me to ask for him when we came in next and he would make it right, maybe with free pizzas. He was very professional. We never asked for our free pizzas, but we continue to patronize this business. This is a perfect example of how good management, fabulous people skills, and the willingness to make things right can turn a bad situation into a good one. Used to go here frequently before it was remodeled. Service was great and food was quick. However with the new remodeling it feels as if the staff just can't keep up. Was seated immediately, then waited 10 minutes before ordering my drink... AT THE BAR. After telling the bartender we were waiting for a server she grabbed one and we ordered our food from there. Took over a half hour for a buffalo chicken sub and a buffalo chicken and bacon pizza. They also forgot that I modified my pizza as it did not come complete. The server very rarely came by our table to see if things were alright or if we needed refills. Food is still good but service needs to step up read more

Last time I'll be in here. Their food is below average, which isn't a surprise considering their dining room is real tiny. (6-7 tables sandwiched on top of one another) If there's a game or a crowd at the bar the noise will carry into the dining room and drown you in misery. People come in here for the bar. Which is a drag because their bartenders are inattentive and rude. God forbid you hand them a keno slip... Expect a sigh and a eye roll. Don't waste your time here! It was busy but not too bad. When we got seated we asked the bartender if she could put the game on a tv at the end of the bar near the door. She was very nice & said she would ask the manager. I told her that I talked to everyone at that end of the bar & no one was watching the Bruins. As the bartender went to walk over to the manager who was standing about 12-15' away from us, the manager, a female, yelled at the bartender "NO WE'RE NOT CHANGING IT I DON'T FRIGGEN CARE"!!! Excellent food, excellent service, and reasonably priced. They have a menu with something for everyone, ranging from comfort food to light fare. The penne, chicken & broccoli was perfect in the wine & garlic glaze. The portions are not outlandish either. Vistied FHC with my husband. I got the Shrimp Scampi and he got steak tips. The dinner was fabulous. The waitress while not overly nice or attentive but did a pretty decent job keeping us happy. My only complaint is that I got a slice of carrot cake to go. She put my leftover scampi in a styrofoam container and the cake in another. By the time I got home the scampi "juice" was all over the bag and had leaked into the carrot cake. I had to throw the cake away. My suggestion. Wrap anything that could possible leak in plastic wrap or foil. That extra effort would have earned them a 5 star review... read more
