Welcome to Braintree, Tavern in the Square! What once was home to Friday's is now the renovated Tavern in the Square. I think we can all agree that Friday's was a dump and needed to go. I have been to several other Tavern in the Square and I am happy that they finally came to Braintree. With plenty of parking, depending on the time and day, this restaurant is clean, new, and is perfect for watching all kinds of sports. With great big TVs, excellent food and wonderful service, I believe Tavern in the Square will thrive here. We stopped in here for a quick lunch and had great service. I ordered the Chopped Greek with Chicken which was larger than I hoped but still very good. My husband had their Steak & Cheese Crunch Melt. It reminded me of a steak and cheese but better. Stopped by here over the weekend for quick lunch and I wasn't blown away by the food, but the service was great. I did make a reservation ahead of time, and I'm glad we did because by the time we were leaving it was really busy inside. I used to frequent this location when it was Fridays but it seems like they have a lot more room in this location compared to others and even have a patio from what I see. I only opted for a few appetizers as I wasn't too hungry Bang Bang broccoli - 4/10 could've been cooked longer and the sauce should be on the side, but it has some flavor. Maple gonchujang wings 9/10 These wings were really good and recommended by our waiter Madyson, and I'm so glad I got them. I do wish they were cooked well done as I had asked, and were just a bit smaller. (But that's my personal preference) Nachos with chicken 5/10 I feel like these might've been done before our other food because it was cold and barely had any chicken nor toppings. I did ask for additional toppings on the side which she brought quickly. I wanted a tequila based drink and she recommended a lemon drop with tequila, mango and guava juice and it was really good. We stopped here for lunch on our way back to Providence from Boston. The restaurant is not far from the highway, so it's an easy on/off stop. The menu was very much like other Tavern in the Square locations I have been before. Our server was very nice and professional. I had requested the salmon with no salt added and all vegetables as sides and she was very good about entering that request on the food order. My husband got the Sweet and Spicy Thai chicken salad, which was delicious and light. We liked our meal and our service. A great place in the Braintree area, right across from the mall. read more

This place has so much space! It is a lot bigger than Weymouth. Looks like they have an outdoor area for warmer months. Overall the food is good and I like the bowl options. It is not inexpensive. Our server was attentive and explained the meals for us. We will definitely go back. read more

I had a really lovely experience at Tavern in the Square in Braintree. I arrived before my friend and was seated right away, which I appreciated. The whole place has this wide open, airy layout with plenty of seating, and the window-side tables give you such a nice view--especially with the fall scenery. It felt warm, inviting, and totally family-friendly. I ordered the salted caramel macchiato. I'll be honest--presentation-wise, it didn't look like the picture and was missing some of the fancy trimmings mentioned in the description... but the flavor made up for all of that. It was absolutely delicious. I also had a burger with Parmesan fries. The burger was solid, the fries were okay. Our waiter was soft-spoken but very attentive and genuinely tried his best, which I always notice and appreciate. Overall, I'd give my experience a solid four stars. The food is great but the length of time you have to wait for anything is what would cause me to not stop in here. It took roughly 20 minutes before our server came over and then another 20 minutes for us to get waters. I got the chicken avocado club sandwich but with fried chicken. It had great flavor. It was great to come check this place out a few weeks after opening this Braintree location. Walking in this place, it is huge! There is so much seating and large bar. I particularly loved the area with the open windows which let in some of the years last nights of warm weather. The staff were very friendly as well and attentive. The food my husband and I ordered was excellent! We started off with the Bavarian Pretzels which were definitely some of the best I've ever had. They were warm, fluffy and nicely seasoned along with a nice side cheese sauce. For entrees I got the Blackened Bacon and Blue Burger and my husband got the Tavern Burger. The burgers were both nicely cooked and seasoned along with nice crispy fries. I got the Parmesan Rosemary fries which you can't go wrong with. Just wanted pub food, as was traveling alone, and wanted to sit at the bar. The staff was friendly and attentive without being I intrusive. I ordered their fish & chips , with sweet potato fries instead of frites. It's hard to can promptly, hot and as a large portion. This is pretty basic fare, and they delivered that. I don't know how they do with more nuanced food. So bottom line is that they did well,with the most basic pub food in a friendly way. read more

I ordered sirloin steak $40 it was served on a wood plate. I hate that. I asked my server for a glass plate. I waited 20 minutes for a table. Managers they have are just like the servers. Kids. Clueless. One server is serving food with a winter hat on. Bus boys just hanging around. Not cleaning tables. A real nightmare. One server is carrying food out of the kitchen with her shirt arm on the plate, the other plate her finger in the plate. Tjuplace really needs to be put together. A disgrace. TGI Fridays was lousy but Tavern in the Square that replaced it carries on the traditions of way too salty food and mediocre service. The ambiance is that of a sports bar meets trendy dbag spot - lots of dark wood and mood lighting to conceal the tragedy in the kitchen. Had the steak crunch wrap- it was basically a steak and cheese in some deep fried wrap caked with salt and grease. The fried pickles were nearly inedible. Server was OK- seemed like she was reading off a script though No worries though '-- the location in dedham is just as lousy so at least it's consistent garbage ! read more

Way too high The girl who served us had a different attitude every time she came over and the guy that brought our food couldn't have given less of a care about his job. Monotone, unenthusiastic. First time he brought over the wrong food and second time he only addressed my boyfriend and completely ignored me. "Sorry bro" .. really? Only positive thing about my experience was watching how passionate the bartender was about his job. Mixing drinks, talking to patrons about wine-tasting, knowing them by name. This is a new place in town that is family friendly. It is a good place to grab food and drinks to watch some games . There's a line since it's new but it's a fast moving pace. Definitely reservations recommended. The food is decent and the drinks were decent too. The price is fair. read more

The food here is on par with the 99 restaurant chain, but at pricing maybe 30 percent higher. I had the Tuscan chicken which was dry and flavorless. Another in our party had the steak tips and said they were awful. The others in our party of six didn't comment which is probably not a good thing. The receptionists and waitstaff were fine. Stopped into TITS Braintree for a quick bite and was impressed from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and friendly energy. I grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered the chicken quesadilla -- absolutely delicious! The bartenders were attentive, upbeat, and made the whole experience even better. DO NOT GO HERE. Terrible experience from start to finish. After driving 6 hours from Philadelphia, my family and I attempted to watch a football game here. After waiting 20 minutes with no one talking to us at the bar, we waived a bartender down to order our drinks. After one round, they cut off my entire family saying we were "too animated" and were too intoxicated. This restaurant was completely out of line. We were all behaving ourselves and hadn't drank more than one beverage. My family doesn't get together often and this restaurant ruined what had been a pleasant day. This is my first time leaving a review as someone eats out at least 1x a week, but the service was that terrible! Went there with a party of 9, mix of adults and kids for Easter brunch. We were seated quickly with a reservation. The rest was all downhill from there. Our server first took drink orders, we ordered the kids drinks and 2 BYOM orders for 5 adults. She couldn't find it on her device and said "maybe you could tell me", I was confused how could tell her where it is. She then she decided to ask to the bartender. The kids drinks came, and 1 BYOM then I informed her again we need 2, she said okay and left. She then took our food order, incorrectly and that was the last time we saw her again until over 40 mins later I had to walk up to the hottest and ask her if she could find our server. Our food came out by the runners, our server never came to ask if everything came out okay or if we needed any thing else. Which things were WRONG and we DID need more things. We never received our missing BYOM order, or have the chance to get the kids refills or for the adults to order anything else. She did not check on us not one time. When she finally came over after gossiping with other servers and us watching her help another table first after the hostess let her know we needed her. She came over, I stated she never checked on us, and also we never got our other BYOM. She said you only ordered one, which is not true but had she checked on us for anything I could have told her for the 3rd time we wanted 2. At that point I asked for the manager, before getting the manager we watched her gossip to other servers and then come and leave the bill and boxes on our table all before she decided to let the manager know. The manager did come over, hear us out and try to explain. She did take something off the bill and all adults gift cards for a return visit. She let us know the standard is to always check on your tables, turns out she only had 2 tables at that time and did not seem to have the time to check on us at all. A server that unprofessional and inexperienced should not have been on a large party on a busy Easter Sunday. Not only is this server serious issues but also a note to management. As a party of 6 with reservation for 4:00 pm at the Braintree location, we had to wait over a half an hour to get a clean table. I informed the hostess several times we were waiting and nobody offered us a place at the bar or anything to hold us over until the table waa ready at 4:30 . We were just left standing for about 40 minutes. Once the table was ready, it wasn't until around 5:00 , until I let the hostess know again we were still waiting. The reservation states that they guve the customer 15 minutes until they give the table away to someone else but what about the customer who is waiting almost an hour firva tabke that had been previously reserved? Not good customer service and I will be leaving a poor review on yelp . I understand it was Easter and it was busy but there was very little consideration for us as a party as we were just left hanging until I had to speak up two times. No offer to renlmedy the situation with a discount or other credit to compensate for all our time lost.,and just left hanging. read more

I have gone to different Taverns I have found that some of the food tasted a bit burnt. A lil disappointed as this store is closer than going back to the Attleboro Tavern. Maybe bc they are new? I will give them another chance. Staff were very friendly. And loved the ambiance. read more

We were punished by the hostess (in what would be considered a less than busy restaurant) by simply asking for a table in the bar area. She left us standing there as she sat group after group that came in after us. Absolute disgrace. The chopped salad with grilled salmon on top and phyllo dough in the middle was the best salad I've had in years at a restaurant. Every restaurant should take the steps to chop and dress a salad the way they do. It was outstanding. The service from my server. Christian was also excellent and the place is clean and lively. Went there the first day it opened and it was awesome. Beautifully furnished... very comfortable seats at the nar. Our bartender, Kelly, was so welcoming and served both our food and drinks like the pro she obviously is. I had the Steak & Avocado salad and my wife the Thai Chicken salad. Both were outstanding.
