Really neat concept and as a parent of two young ones, I wish there were more places like this! The front is a modern, bright coffee shop. Great coffee and espresso drinks (although my husband was a bit bummed that they couldn't make a pourover since they were 'too busy) You CAN take your drinks into the play space, they just require that the drinks be put into one of their tumblers It's really amazing what they did with the space. From the outside it seems unassuming, but they somehow created a multi-tiered play space that kids can climb around in. It's mainly climbing up a hill, underneath into this cave space, and up steps into this upper loft area. There aren't any toys, but there is a costume room with tons of costumes that the kids loved. I would say the ideal age is probably 2-6 years old. Remember to bring socks! otherwise they have you purchase them. Love that they have hours on the weekends, as many play spaces are completely closed for parties on the weekends. Only 8-12P on the weekends (open for bday parties after that), and half off the last hour and sibling discount which is also nice. read more

Fox & Kit off the bat won me over for their kid friendly environment. It's not often that a parent can kill 3+ hours at a coffee shop with their Kid. The play area for kids is amazing and my toddler is always happy to go and hangout and play here. I often will enjoy a coffee and watch my little guy explore and shriek with joy while I sip on my beverage. If you're looking to meet other parents and make friends this place is definitely an environment that can foster that as well. Because the play area is enclosed you can choose to be on the outside in a slightly more quiet setting while watching your child through the glass. It really just depends on how old your kid is and what experience you're looking for. The people who work there have always been pleasant and polite. I would highly recommend Fox & Kit. Amazing coffee shop! Saw this on Google and felt like it was my vibe in terms of coffee, so went on the way back from a weekend trip. Was surprised to see that it was not only a coffee shop, but also a great little hangout spot where parents can hang out with friends while dropping off their kids to play in the playground! The coffee itself was really, really good! They use Temple Coffee for their beans, and have a ton of great options. Got the cortado for a quick taste of their lattes, as well as the toasted marshmallow latte and the lavender latte. Both were super good - well extracted espresso, great flavor of syrups without it being overwhelming, and overall great taste. Baristas were super chill too! Was planning to meet a girlfriend while she was briefly in San Rafael so I suggested Fox & Kit. Lovely place to get a hot beverage and to sit & chat. Wonderful staff and my caramel latte with almond milk was delicious. I was sad though to see that there weren't much pastries for us to have. Super cute spot to take your kids. They have an impressive indoor play place that my kids (age 9,8 and 4) enjoy. It's $15 every hour for play and there are discounts for siblings. Their drinks are pretty good - I've gotten their chai latte before and it was tasty. Today, I just got a plain iced green tea and added honey. I chose to come here after searching on yelp for a coffee shop to stay busy while having my car serviced around the corner. The coffee they serve is from an independent roaster which is always nice. I had my cappuccino made with almond milk which masked the flavor of the coffee too much, so I asked to have it remade which was no problem. This is the most aesthetic & fun little café! Love the decor and indoor play area. It's like an elevated, montessori-inspired version of a fast food chain play place. It was clean, there was an employee in there monitoring, and so many fun things to do for the kids. The reading nook and costume closet are unique and fun. There is a "hill" that can double as a slide and climber, and underneath it is a cave. The tree house has some fun climbers too. It cost $15 for 2 hours max of play time. I only ordered a matcha latté and kids hot chocolate for my son. Since we were in the play area, they brought them to us in stainless steel tumblers which was nice. However my latté tasted like regular green tea with a little milk rather than matcha and was so hot I burned my tongue at first sip. I'd recommend asking for a lower temp or skipping the tumblers to let the heat escape. There are multiple bathrooms, in the main café area as well as one inside of the play area. There's a parking garage right across the street that you have to pay for, as well as a few metered street parking spaces in front of the building. We enjoyed our time here and look forward to going back. It's a great place to let the kids play and get some work done. read more

This is a cute place and if you can be around the chaos of the children in a small space, kudos to you! I was asked to go outside with my service dog which I have never had to do. Update (May 5th 2019) We just hosted our son's 4th birthday here at F&K. All the kids had a blast and all of our friends had nothing but high praises for the place. The consensus is Fox and Kit is such a cool place where adults and kids can both have a good time. FK offers two birthday packages depends on your needs. We picked the "worry free" one where you pick a party theme (we picked under the sea) and Devin will take care everything else for you (from drinks to cupcakes to party favors). All you need to do is to show up with your kid and any additional food/drinks you might want to bring(that's not included in the package), Devin and his team will help you unload, arrange them in the plate and serve it to your guests. In addition, Devin will keep track of the time and let you know when is the time to cut the cake, let you pick what type of music you like for your guests and help gathering the kids to take group photos after the cake.
