Thankfully, my fears were unfounded when it came to the Country Boy. Between the two of us, we ordered the Country Boy Breakfast, The Hillsboro & a chocolate chip pancake (and coffees, of course). I felt like we could have fed the whole village of Leiper's Fork, but the guy across from me found the portions go be exactly mathematically accurate (he ate all of his and half of mine). The biscuits were soft, pillowy, perfection. I imagine the closest Italian equivalent would be someone's Nonna's centuries-old secret gnocchi recipe. We scarfed everything down while stealing glances at each other which wordlessly spoke, "Where are we? Is this where Waffle House got its inspiration? The highlight of the experience was the music and camaraderie with Johnny Cash's nephew, Mark Alan Cash. We could sit there and listen to him all day. We loved listening to the stories from his personal experiences with his uncle. If we ever get the chance to come back through here, we definitely will.
