My wife and I had our new home inspected by Fox on June 23 2019. The inspection experience was bad overall. For three reasons 1. Surprise charge On the inspection day, Fox asked for extra charge for the foundation inspection because the inspector observed a crawl space and claimed that it's not a slab foundation but a pier and beam foundation, and going into the crawl costs more ( We later did a separate structural inspection performed by a licensed engineer, which shows that the foundation IS a slab, with a crawl space). Fox also need to send another inspector to do the job because the inspector assigned to our inspection simply don't go to crawl space. We refused the proposal. They claimed that they had no knowledge of the crawl space beforehand. Well, as professional inspection company with 30yrs of experience, they didn't verify this information with me or my agent before the inspection, nor did they notice us about the possible extra cost. 2. Limited inspection on roof and floor The roof inspection was by eyeball check only (yes, eyeball check the roof of a 3-story house from the street). No droid flying over the roof and taking pictures. I later had another company who did the droid check as part of the structural inspection. Fox does not do floor level of the 2nd and 3rd floor. They promised on their website "Survey of First Floor FREE with every Premium Home Inspection" yet the inspector failed to deliver the promise in my case- the first floor survey is completely missing in the report. I can't tell if the rest of the inspection is good or not as we haven't moved in yet. 3. No refund I acknowledge their work on mechanical inspection and asked for a partially refund for the underperformed roof and foundation inspection. They refused my refund request and claimed that they did nothing wrong, despite of the facts mentioned above. In short, I wouldn't recommend Fox. Maybe it's just my case. If given a second chance, I would go find a company with licensed engineers from the beginning. Probably cost more but worry-free, and of higher quality. read more

Thanks to Fox Residential Services and their extremely thorough inspection we were spared from buying a home with multiple problems including moisture in the walls from leaking pipes and a roof deck that was poorly installed, among other things. The defects they discovered were all hidden by a beautiful exterior. We had used Fox previously for a past home and were pleased with how detailed their inspection was on that too. Grant was parked in the cul-de-sac completing paperwork in his truck well before our scheduled inspection time when I got there at 8:45, so at 9 AM he was ready to go. As soon as he came inside, we introduced ourselves, he asked if we had any questions before he got started, then he immediately got to work. He was very respectful of the home by placing a towel on the floor for his shoes. He was extremely thorough in the inspection. He answered any question I had with patience (and I had many!) and said he was glad to answer anything while he was there and it was fresh in his mind, but also offered to let me call him anytime and go through the report line-by-line if I needed to. Within a few hours he was done and he gave me an overview of any issues he found. The following report was incredibly detailed and indicated which issues were more serious than others which is a big help as a first-time homeowner. Overall, i had a wonderful experience with Grant and Fox Residential Services Group and the cost for a home, pool, and termite inspection seemed very reasonable. I have had the pleasure of working with Fox Inspections three times in the last 2 months as my husband and I searched for a home. After looking through other groups reports compared to Fox, it was an easy choice to pick them. The easy to read reports and extreme attention to detail were far superior to other reports. Not only did we feel each time that we had a really clear sense of what the current status was on a home, but also a list of all the little things we would want to work on over time to make it perfect. The second time we used this company, there were so many issues with the house that we did not know about. The main one is that there was a hole in our roof And the inspector missed it. Well it rained. And we had to deal with a leak in our brand new home. It was unfortunate. Our backyard is like a typical residence in houston and it is not leveled at all. There are literal gaps between the pieces of grass in the backyard. And our fence doesn't even make contact with the grass. Stray cats and animals come to visit. It's really unfortunate. We have to schedule another inspection this year. I'm not sure we will be using this company. read more

We hired Fox to do a stucco inspection for our home, and it was a complete waste of $850. The dedicated stucco companies were overbooked, and so we decided on Fox after reading the high reviews. Their prices for stucco inspection were on the higher end of the market, however the price did not correlate with the quality of the inspection. The stucco inspector was very much a rookie - he left before checking all 4 walls of the house. Luckily I had a thorough home inspector who called the Fox stucco inspector to double check that a concerning wall of the home was checked; it was not. The disgruntled Fox stucco inspector went back, then reinspected the area and did find damage that was costly. No apology regarding the oversight was made. At this point, my husband and I lost trust in the company (how do you just drive away after not examining all the walls? What else could have been missed?), and had to beg a dedicated stucco company to squeeze us in to reexamine our home - an extra $350 out of our pocket. The Fox stucco inspector later said that he didn't feel comfortable examining a wall that was in between the neighbors house and the home we were buying, however made no effort to tell us that he was leaving an entire wall un-inspected. We were just lucky to have had a home inspector who did his due diligence to make sure concerning areas were followed up on. The dedicated stucco company found EVEN MORE damage than the Fox stucco report, allowing us to ask the seller to adequately repair what would have cost US thousands had we just used Fox. I tried to call their office to report the discrepancy between our stucco report and the one provided by a professional stucco company (that charged less than Fox by the way!), however never got a call back from the company. So, they ate $850 for a subpar job, and we had to pay additional $$ for a repeat stucco inspection. Perhaps they're better at home inspections, but I can not recommend them for stucco inspections. read more

Our inspector Marty was very thorough and took the time to walk us through all areas inspected at our new home build. We had plenty of questions and he answered them for us, including questions concerning the AC unit in the attic. As promised, we had our inspection report the same day. The promo from the company highlighted the "Infrared Camera" for spotting dampness. (the home had 21 inches of water in 2017 during Harvey). The "thermal" report was inconclusive and showed just one picture of an interior wall. Then, the home inspector suggested we get an HVAC inspection that the temp wasn't good. Nor, was it good while he was there. And, of course recommended Fox for HVAC inspection. That HVAC inspector said "nothing wrong". However, the house still wasn't cooling. Over a multi-hour period the temperature finally moved maybe 5 degrees with the house totally closed. So, we are out $1,000 approximately and have no assurance about moisture in the walls and MANY doubts about the HVAC system. We are not going to buy the house now. Anything we buy going forward WILL NOT be inspected by these guys that recommend each other for further inspections. read more

Richard Flores was a dream! As a first time home-buyer (buying a home built in 1960s that had also flooded during Harvey), I needed all the details about what I was getting into. I ordered a Mold Inspection and General Home Inspection through Fox Inspection Group. Richard was certified to do both! Throughout the inspection, Richard would pause and alert me of anything he noticed and then tell me whether or not it was a common issue. He also helped me understand how the mold testing process works.
