Like this movie was so great, it has redefined what I can expect from a Marvel movie, and movies in general. But this review is not about the latest Spider Man flick, it is about Alamo Drafhouse Cinema. And I firmly believe that one of the reasons why I loved Brand New Day so much is because I saw it in Alamo Drafthouse. The movie going experienced was enhanced, dare I say even honored, by this place. And, I might be wrong, but saying that a place made a movie better, is the loudest clap a moviegoer can give to a place that plays movies for goers. I am not sure how I first heard of Alamo Drafthouse, but I selected it as the venue that will host my movie going experience because I fe;t Spider Man deserved the stage. When I got there I was surprised by one sheer fact: I have walked by this place many a time, and I never knew that it was there. Which made me realize in a much broader way that what they say about LA is true--- one will never be bored here because there is always something new to do, and if you cannot find something new, than you might not be looking hard enough. The entrance to the place that holds Alamo also had a reminder that we might all need to hear: "say whatever it is, before it is too late." I entered and the place gave me Bing Bang Theory basement vibes if Howard or Sheldon had the funds to create a luxury movie theathre in their basements. The place was replete with a lot of different posters, and toys, and other memorabilia. If one is a flick nerd, then this place will be their slice of heaven with reclining sheets. I clipped just a few pictures of the different do-thats that this place. For instance, they had a wall full of Spider Man posters. As I walked past them and into my designated theatre I felt more excited to see the motion. Also, they had this area with tables and beers on tap with the Spider Man from the 90's playing. Which makes me believe that Spider Man 97 is coming along the pike cause this cartoon is not quitting. But I thought it was such a great touch to play this cartoon because it is responsible for having so many people fall in love with the wall crawler. It was appropriate nostalgia that frame the movie. So if I have not made it clear, being in this place is a small museum that reminds us why we love movies, beyond them offering escapism when times get tough. The movie rooms were small, quaint, and comfortable. I think most people would agree that a recliner while watching a movie may not be needed, but just like fudge on ice cream, it makes the treat better in a rich kind of way. Additionally, this place offers food delivered to your chair by a server. The besides me had a whole happy hour situation going on. He ordered three margaritas, a hamburger, fries and enjoyed his time. It was all about being good and happy at the movies. This place facilitated that. I was not hungry. But I was inspired by my neighbor to order a treat---- sea salt and vinegar popcorn laced with gold fish, and it was a nice little treat. First, I never had that combination before. It was great! The goldfish cheese taste was deepened. Not in every bite but the ones that were in the bottom of the sea(bowl). The second thing that they did, that another Yelper. comment on was, they "have a no-phone policy." Meaning that when the movie started to play they encouraged us not to use our phone or we might be asked to leave. We were told we can report people on our phone using their phone. And they addressed the irony of it--- and resolved it by saying just don't be a jerk. It as like putting a pretty ribbon bow in a package that was once difficult to wrap. The movie had previews but before that they had a comedian re-cap the journey to this movie and it was funny. The comedian wondered if DR. Strange was also the type of guy that buys liquor for a minor since he did a universe altering spell for one. Then before the movie they showed a video with Holland stating that this Spider Man Movie was created for "you." And to a much lower degree, for sure, this Yelp was written for you too.

I've been to…read morethis type of luxury theatre many years ago and it's definitely a good way to treat yourself. My son has been wanting to see Devil Wears Prada 2 and the first one is one of his favorite movies of all time. Personally, I don't like that movie but I went along with him. Tickets are $25 each and they have a $4 parking garage, but we were lucky enough to get a free after-hour meter on the street. It's a nice place and it seems like comfort is their top priority. The recliner chairs are extremely comfy and come with a blanket in case you get cold. You know how movie theaters are always chilly. Once you get settled, you can press a button that sends an employee over to take your order. It's completely optional. We got one small popcorn (light butter, $6) which was big enough for both of us. I like this idea of having the option of ordering and dining at your seat while watching a movie, but the reality is a bit different. It's kind of annoying to see the employees coming and going when someone needs a refill or places a new order during the movie. You can hear them talking and they can even block your view. It's frustrating when you are trying to focus. With that being said, I think it has more pros than cons. There are bars and bathrooms located across the several floors and the one we went to was exceptionally clean. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back to this theatre. I prefer something more standard like AMC or Pacific Theatres (RIP!)...

Last week, we attended a showing of Toy Story 5 at the theater. We learned that not only is the new ownership not offering food service during the transition but intends to abandon that amenity altogether. This is among the most foolish decisions that could be made from a business perspective and will undoubtedly result in a total loss on the owners' investment. The building has a gigantic kitchen going to waste. The screens are small, and the ticket prices are high. The sole reason people have chosen this theater over the numerous options (e.g. Century City AMC) is its special quality of in-theater dining and expanded, up-scale fare. It is absurd that the owners are trying to spin this as an improvement, claiming this unique feature has been "retired in favor of elevated food & beverage offerings -- designed to enhance your cinematic experience by reducing service-related noise, light and other distractions." No amount of polishing to the menu at the tavern will offset the loss of clientele brought on by the abandonment of the in-theater dining option. The owners need only look to the onslaught of terrible reviews streaming in across Yelp and Google or the consensus of complaints in the Reddit community to understand the extent to which this misguided approach will devalue their investment. They will certainly be losing our business until this irrational new approach is reversed.

It is supposed to be the top of the top the best of the best when it comes to in theatre movies. Unfortunately it does not live up to its promise as well as it should. The recliners are good, but now that everybody has fancy movie recliners they are not the top of the line anymore. Food and drinks are very expensive and only just OK. They do make very good popcorn but again, very expensive. It is also very difficult to book tickets as the theaters are small and they have very limited offerings. Overall, if we feel like not driving far or have eaten dinner in the area and get lucky enough to grab a last minute ticket, this is a theater we go to. but it is not our favorite theater

I wished we read the one star surveys not only in Yelp also in google. We ordered food which we never got...After an hour, we questioned them and they said the employee didnt push the Botton to be submitted so if we want they can make it happen so after 15 min he came back and said they are out of salad and they offered brought sodas which we didnt drink. At the end of movie, they handed us a bill showed $67.97 charge. When we asked, the employee said there is no charge, but we stated there is a charge and our card number. We ended up to talk to manager. He said there is no receipt! When we stated there was a receipt and we said our card number was on it...He got irritated! He brought a recipt that shows $0 on it without showing what we ordered or what was 0 out! He was very rude and aggressive! Instead of apologizing we was cutting us off and even he told me he doesn't want talk to me when I asked if the receipt is 0, why its not an itemized bill and why the credit card was charged! Then i asked employee if he kept the receipt, this manager who never provided us with his name and also he didnt have name badge, started making scenes. Unbelievable! As a customer, we were asking for itemized receipt that it was 0 out or the original receipt or at least his name if the card got charged. And then he got irritated and said leave here and say all the employees to not talk to us... It was just like a movie scenes just for a receipt! Then he said he'll call cop on us! And we both were shocked! Threatening us to call a cop just because we asked for receipt! Any way, he called cops and they told us to leave the movie theatre because this manager doesn't want to talk to us and in this point, because its a private property we can call head quarter and explained them whats happened. Our night was ruined! When we came home, it seems they decided to refund the ticket! We werent ask for refund or they didnt suggest anything. From no where we got a refund for tickets. So, we are still shocked! What type of customer service is this! First, they missed our order, then, they brought receipt we got charged and then they said there is no receipt and we are in wrong side! So we still have this amount in pending so how the card shows the amount which is right for what we order but there is no receipt while we got physical receipt! And then, call the cops and tress-pass and after we got home, later on, they refunded tickets! So, we are not going back to this place but definitely from now on well read all the feedbacks before decide a new place despite the fancy name that it carried. And the sad part, he was yelling on the employees to not talk to us...I felt bad for employees the way he was acting! Every individual should have the right to talk or not to talk! After getting threatened to call cop which he did, I'm not surprised anymore! I never thought for a receipt, it will go ended up to this chaos. It was just a simple itemized receipt!

From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by the sweetest hostess at the front. I wish I remembered her name because she deserves a shout-out! She was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate our request for a table right next to the DJ. That little gesture made a huge difference and really kicked off the night on the right note. Our server, Lex, was amazing! She was attentive, friendly, and kept checking on us throughout the night, even with how busy it was. Excellent service like hers is one of the reasons we'll definitely be back. The DJ was absolutely FIRE! We went on 90s/2000s Night, and every song had people singing and dancing. The energy was nonstop, and it was the perfect soundtrack for a birthday celebration. The food and drinks were exactly what we wanted for a night out. We enjoyed Pineapple Express cocktails, Jack Daniels, Palomas, Mexican Candy shots, Green Tea shots (because... birthday! ), Lagunitas drafts, mozzarella sticks, chips with guac and salsa, and chili cheese fries. Everything came out fresh, and the drinks were great. One thing I thought was really cool was that they did raffle giveaways throughout the night. We actually won a karaoke machine, which was such a fun surprise and made the birthday celebration even more memorable! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the restrooms. Unfortunately, they were in pretty rough shape. There was toilet paper all over the floor, one toilet was broken, water was leaking from the ceiling, only one soap dispenser had soap, and the whole bathroom smelled like a sewer. It was the only part of the night that didn't match the otherwise great experience. Overall, Punch Bowl Social is a fantastic spot for birthdays, celebrations, drinks, music, and a fun night out with friends. Great staff, an amazing DJ, fun surprises like raffles, and an atmosphere that keeps the party going. If management gives the restrooms some much-needed attention, this place would easily earn five stars from me. We'll definitely be back!

We checked in at the front entrance and took the slow-moving elevator up to the rooftop. It wasn't a huge deal, but definitely something that stood out. When we got to the top, we were asked to fill out a waiver on our phones--super quick and easy, but honestly something that could've been done earlier when buying tickets online. Parking in the area was $20 at a lot across the street. Not terrible for a Friday night in LA, but still worth mentioning. Your ticket includes skate rental and one drink, so we grabbed a Paloma (the other option was not available) which hit the spot. Unfortunately, the skating surface was a bit of a letdown--treaded hard plastic mats that didn't offer a smooth ride. It took a lot of effort to move and wasn't beginner-friendly. Plus there was a tricky spot that tripped up more than a few skaters. The biggest surprise was the low energy overall--music was pretty quiet, and the vibe felt more relaxed than festive. We expected more of a party atmosphere for a Friday night rooftop in the heart of LA. It was still fun to do something different and hang out with our group, but unless they upgrade the floor or amp up the energy, it's probably a one-and-done for us.
