I just left Fox rent a car in Ontario CA on Holt Blvd. Wow I am absolutely embarrassed for this location. The employees actually harass you to get their insurance. And frankly, are just extremely very, very awful employees. I rented via expedia and paid ahead for a standard suv. When I arrived the worker, Leticia, told me it would be a Volkswagen Jetta. What? She looked at me like I did not understand her. I told her I paid for a standard suv. Then she said oh it's a dodge hornet, which I looked up and saw it's a compact Suv. So I told her that doesn't sound right, I asked her questions about what their categories include and she said categories between expedia and fox are different but failed to provide a policy or image where we can see what the definitions were and sad "it's just what I am telling you it is." Wow. So then she ended up telling me it would be a Rav 4 which to my understanding is a mid-size suv. So I settled for it because honestly we were on our way to a funeral and just wanted to get our car and leave. I told her I wanted to add 3 drivers since it's a long drive and wanted additional driving help. She told me it would be 13 dollars per person per day (we had a 8 day rental). I told her that I had researched and according to California State Law (Assembly Bill 901), car rental companies are legally required to waive additional driver fees for specific family, business, and legal relations. This includes spouse, parents, siblings, etc. She said no different. I told her it's state law and she kept saying no so I asked for a manager because I told her all my questions I'm asking you dont know or telling me no. She said she would call the manager and I had to wait for her to call back asked me to step to the side. I spoke to the manager she said I rented a 5 person suv and that a rav4 was for 5 people. I told her my understanding is that is a mid-size and I paid for standard for more comfort for a long trip, she didn't care. I gave the phone back to Leticia and when it was my turn rolled her eyes and did a "whatchu waiting for gesture" with her arms and hands up to hurry up. I asked her why she was being rude and giving me attitude and I she said because I gave her attitude first. I told her that was not true, she knows that, and that I was simply asking questions and she seemed to nit know the answers so she was getting upset. She processed to be rude and told me to give her all the drivers licenses. I told her during times like these we need to be grateful for our jobs and kind to all. She told me "you will not tell me how to behave! And I am NOT SERVING YOU!" I told her okay no problem, asked for her name and left. It's important we speak up when we are victimized for asking questions or being treated differently than other guests. The party prior and after me where White who were treated visibly better than I was. I am Hispanic. I felt this treatment was partly due to my racial background and her failure to take accountability for mistakes and not have the capacity to see faults and apologize. Nothing I said or did was rude and I know they have cameras to see that. I am extremely disappointed and after renting there many times ( and having bad experiences) I will not be coming back, neither will my friends or family, and anyone who reads this, because that this in, and go somewhere else. This company does not have the right to not follow state law, or behave differently than the rest. I HIGHLY DISCOURAGE ANYONE FEOM RENTING HERE. PLEASE RENT ELSEWHERE. My wife rented a car through Fox Rental in Ontario California through Expedia for $336.94. The rental agent tried to sell her additional insurance and she declined the insurance because between our credit card and car insurance she was fully covered. The rental agent pointed to an area on the form and told her she needed to sign that she was declining the additional insurance which she did. When she arrived home she noticed an additional charge for $171.32 on the credit card so she called Fox and spoke with a customer service agent who spoke broken English and was difficult to understand. My wife explained to her what had occurred and the agent told her that she had signed in the area requesting additional insurance and they would not refund the money. It's very obvious that the rental agents work on commission and victimize travelers that are tired and in a hurry. This is the first time we have been victimized by an unscrupulous car rental agency. I would advise you not to use Fox Car Rentals because of this criminality. Fox Rental could easily review their video system which would prove what happened. We did report this to Expedia so they are aware. Before you make a reservation with Fox scroll through the customer complaints on yelp and other travel rating sites. I had a terrible experience with FOX Rent A Car and will never use them again. I reserved and paid for my rental in full two months in advance, totaling $387.48. Unfortunately, my airline canceled and rescheduled my flight, causing me to arrive approximately six hours later than originally planned. Despite the delay being completely out of my control, FOX charged me an additional $270 just to pick up the vehicle late, plus another $150 for a security deposit, bringing my total charges to $458.52 at the counter. I was also informed that if I canceled and rented from another company, I likely would not receive a refund for the original $387.48 I had already paid, leaving me feeling trapped into accepting these additional charges. To make matters worse, the customer service representative specifically told us to let FOX refill the gas tank upon return because it would cost "less than $5 per gallon." After returning the car, I waited for my deposit to be refunded and was shocked to discover I only received $39.66 back from my $150 deposit. When I contacted the company, I was told that their agreement states they charge more than $9 per gallon for fuel, which is why nearly my entire deposit was kept. I never received any printed or emailed documentation outlining these policies, and I relied on the verbal information provided by their employee--which turned out to be completely misleading. This was my third time renting from FOX, and it will absolutely be my last. Their deceptive pricing practices, lack of transparency, and misleading customer service have cost them a loyal customer. Took an HOUR to get here from the airport because they are only running one shuttle. All their others are parked in their lot. The customer service agent, Yosslin, was EXTREMELY rude. Like talking to a monotone robot that kept repeating what she wanted to tell you rather than answering the questions being asked. I had to walk out and let my partner finish because she was so incredibly rude and unhelpful. Then we had to wait 15 minutes for them to bring our car to us!!!! They brought it out soaking wet!!!! Was that to cover up all of the scratches they planned to charge us for upon return? We tried to get them to acknowledge all of the things that were damaged and they refused. The second agent got really mouthy. Told us we were rude and told US to "take a picture." The car has 54,690 miles on it and the shocks are shot. Hoping we get to our destination safely. If it wasn't already prepaid, I'd go back to the rental place at the airport. We will NEVER rent here again! So ridiculous! I would NEVER recommend this janky place to anyone!!!!!!!!! The Customer service representative was very informative. She attempted to sell us on everything from the fast track, to insurance, and gas (Which is what their supposed to do.) However, she tried very hard to get us to change our mind on the gas option we chose. We felt pressured into changing, but we stayed with our decision. The car's radio station knob was broken, the inside of the suv was dirty, and sticky. Tissue, bobby pins, and small pieces of food was left in the car. It was a very sticky situation (Lol!). But it was also really gross, and something we shouldn't have had to deal with. read more

Renting a car from Fox Rent A Car in Ontario, California is not for the weak... One must have good planning skills, strength, and stamina because the location is off-site. When the rental car is being returned, two shuttles must be taken from Fox Rent A Car to the Ontario International Airport. The first shuttle at Fox will take you to the general Airport stop. Then, board the Airport shuttle to your designated terminal. When you arrive at Ontario International Airport from your airline, just walk outside the airport, find the Fox shuttle sign, and wait for their private shuttle to their location which is about 15 minutes away. So, between filling up the gasoline tank and dragging luggage around, factor in these little hurdles and enjoy the financial rewards! Yes, Fox had the lowest rental car rates (found via Autoslash.com - thanks to Dan O. for the tip). The trade-off is the little inconvenience. The workers were efficient and friendly! The Nissan was reliable, easy to drive, and quite good on fuel consumption! I don't know if I would use this company again. There's a reason this rental company is the lowest rated. Yelp should have the option to give zero stars, because this place deserves it. When my wife was getting a rental through expedia, she went with Fox. The website clearly indicated that her card would not be charged until she picked up the car. Red Flag 1: The card was charged within minutes of booking. When my wife showed up to pick up the car, she was told her card would be charged an additional $500 deposit, that would be returned 4-5 days after the car was returned. If I could give a zero for customer service I would. Christina needs a crash course in being a kind human. I normally rent vehicles from Enterprise or Budget for work, as I travel often. I was in a pitch and saw a good deal for a vehicle through Expedia for Fox, so I took a chance. I had rented previously up North through Fox and had decent experiences. As soon as I entered she frowned at me. I gave her my ID/Credit card, she immediately said oh I can't take your card. It was a visa company card that I often used. I told her I never had issues before, then after explaining that she said okay I'll try. "Oh it does work." The vehicle itself was a bit sad. Tape was used to hold what seemed like cocking together. My family have rented from the Fox Car Rental location in Burbank Airport multiple times and have never had a bad experience. This was our first time renting from the Ontario Airport location and it wasn't a pleasant experience. The check-in went fine but when we went out to our assigned car, we were shocked. It was a piece of crap. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the car has a salvage title. The paint on the hood was so damaged that it appeared to have been sandblasted. The hood color didn't match the same silver color as the rest of the car. The hood also didn't fit properly and was raised on the driver side. There was collision damage to the side of the car and the bumper. My friend went back inside to kindky ask for the car to be exchanged because we didn't feel comfortable with the car and we were afraid that we would be accused of causing some of the damage. It was virtually impossible to photograph or video the car because of the noon sun and the light silver color. They flat out refused and we're rude about it despite there being no waiting customers. There were tons of cars, in the same class, sitting on their lot. She told us something to the effect that was a discount car rental company and to get over it. At that point, we were stuck. I would not recommend doing business with this location. The only nice people we encountered were their bus drivers to and from the airport. read more

First time using Fox (national was out of cars and they were the only option). ONT is a small airport and with small airports sometimes the car rental facility is onsite, NOT HERE. You take a shuttle to the car rental facility and they make "parking lot" stops along the way. However Fox is NOT at the facility, from here you take a 2nd shuttle to Fox. I finally made it to Fox and I was impressed with how FRIENDLY they are! They also got me a car quickly. On the return trip back to the airport the shuttle driver dropped me off a couple blocks from the airport so I was able to SKIP the 2nd shuttle on the return. Still prefer National but I was impressed with the people that work here! read more

This place will not help you out if something is out of sorts with your rental. It's almost like they enjoy turning a customer away. I was turned away not once but twice. First time Jamen said that I had to go to the dmv and get a printout of my drivers license. He didn't mention that one county is preferred over another. Weird. I leave and go online when I get to work and it turns out it can be done online. I get a printout and go back the next day to be told that they will not take my debit card for deposit based on the county of my drivers license. I told them to take $2000 deposit to give me the car. I offered $600 in cash. Needless to say I never got the car and it's going to be hard to get my $125 back from Fox. Let's see if they can at least do the right thing in that area. This place is a joke. The bad reviews are true. Once you arrive, they suddenly inform you about a $500 deposit, even though it says nothing about this deposit anywhere on Priceline. I have never experienced this with any other rental company I've used. The worker told me point blank that she would be able to cancel my reservation, that there would be no cancellation fee, and that I would just need to get ahold of Priceline afterward. I specifically asked the worker to confirm there would be no cancellation fee, and she confirmed it -- but that was not true at all. Because of that, you can lose any money you already paid. The guy at the counter is a complete liar. He lied about one of the employees that we used to deal with and told us that he was working at an ice-skating rink. We had booked a vehicle through rentalcars.com and when we went to pick it up. The guy told us that we couldn't have that car at that price and made us pay for a upgrade for a car that we actually didn't even need or want. Just a complete con artist very unprofessional. DO NOT RENT here! I l cleared declared I DO NOT need any car insurance after a long and exhaust flight and weight at the Fox line. They still SNEAK in the car insurance to my bill. I was tired of waiting in line, did not check, thought I had stated so clearly of NOT to have any insurance, they still charged me! and refuse to adjust it! And all sorts of hidden fees I never saw from other rental places. I called the billing dept trying to remove the charge, they said oh well, you signed. sorry... Was given a car with a lot of physical damage and after market wheels. Front driver suspension was questionable with knocking every turn. I received a flat and due to the after markets wheels I had to call a tow since the lugs are not standard size. Luckily I was in a local area and not on the freeway. I do not recommend. read more

I've rented everything from a mid size sedan to full size SUV and every time the cars are clean and taken care of. The shuttle drivers are always very personable, and the shuttle is never a long wait if any wait at all. When arriving at Mexico I was denied entry because without it I could not take vehicle in. I contacted fox rent a car multiple times and even though I emailed them copy of the receipt they themselves gave me they have the nerve to tell me its not in their system. We booked this rental online and clearly selected a drop-off location 2 hours away during the booking process. The reservation was accepted, and we were charged $60 upfront with no indication whatsoever that this drop-off choice would cost extra. Only after we arrived at the location -- and at the very end of the interaction -- did the employee inform us there would be an additional $200 charge for dropping the car off at the location we already selected and confirmed online. This fee was never disclosed at booking, never shown in the price breakdown, and never communicated until we were standing there in person. That is misleading and unacceptable. If a drop-off fee applies, it must be disclosed before payment, not sprung on customers after the fact. This feels intentionally deceptive: show a low price online, allow the drop-off location to be selected, then ambush customers with a massive undisclosed charge once they arrive. We canceled and walked away, but not before wasting time and dealing with unnecessary stress. This business needs to learn what transparency and honesty mean. The car I rented reeked of cigarette smoke! I looked at the reviews here after the fact and saw multiple reviews of the same.‍ Lesson learned: check Yelp reviews BEFORE booking a car rental. The car looked freshly washed when I picked it up with drops of water still on the exterior. But it did smell weird. I attributed the smell to maybe the rubber or whatever cleaning product was used to clean it. A day later though, it DEFINITELY stinks of cigarettes!!! Unfortunately, I don't have time to go and exchange the vehicle. So in the meantime, I will just be exposing myself to thirdhand smoke driving this stinky SUV that I'm being charged over $50 a day for!?! Our first time using Fox rental company and it was a 10 out of 10. We needed service to our van and found Fox through my employee discount website. I loved their hours and that you're able to return late. We were a little tight on money due to saving for maintenance on our own van and signed up for the surprise car, which actually turned out to be a hybrid SUV that was super clean, new, had modern amenities and was super comfortable. I loved the representative at the counter helping us. Loved his personality such a fun guy. Epic experience we are definitely coming back. This is a sincere review. Very frustrating experience. Paid to rent an SUV. Was given a tiny vehicle that I'm told qualifies as an SUV but seems more like a compact hatchback car than an SUV. When I brought it up with the attendant, he agreed that it was a tiny vehicle, but said there was nothing he could do. I was offered the "opportunity" to upgrade to a standard size SUV (which would have doubled the price tag) which I should note is what I had understood I'd be receiving under the original language of the reservation, and I was essentially given only the one option of a vehicle for the reservation price. No help. No options. No choice. Then, they made me wait while they washed the vehicle (you would think the vehicle would've at least been ready for pickup at the reservation time). My rental car was informed of the $500 deposit since I live local while the customer in front of me lived out of the state and his deposit was only $125. When I proceeded to ask why she said well a lot of of times locals just returned the car when they like to so we hold an extra deposit - after reading many reviews on yelp It takes a while to have the deposit refunded, and in today's economy, $500 is a lot. First I wanna say that I rent cars alot and about 70% of the time me and my wife rent here at fox rent a car in Ontario. The old staff that worked there was great and was definitely into satisfying and pleasing the customer. This new staff is horrible. They dont care about customer satisfaction at all !!! Me and my wife pre rented a full size car . Mine you im 6'7 so ima tall guy. They made me drive off in a Nissan for $400. I begged and even talked to a manager about maybe getting a camry that I seen was available and a lil more spacious for me and my family which is still considered a full size car. I had a pleasant experience. I made my reservation on a third-party site (which I don't normally do) and prepaid for the one day with the insurance offered. The site said I'll need to take a shuttle so I was aware the location was off airport grounds. Upon arrival to ONT Airport, I proceeded to the rental car shuttle. Took the shuttle to the rental facility, but didn't see Fox. Starting to get a little nervous I decided to call and the recording said to wait for another shuttle to be taken to Fox. I guess I didn't pay attention when making the reservation, but Fox isn't at the rental facility, it's completely off the airport property about 5/7 mins. away. Taking two shuttles was a little annoying. The shuttle driver was friendly. The gentleman at the counter was friendly and professional. I was asked if I wanted to purchase the insurance and stated I already purchased and he explained that I would have to go through the third party if something were to happen so I just purchased cover for the car only for $25 (glad I did because there was a small crack in the windshield when I returned and couldn't say if it was there before or not. I just had to complete a paper and I was on my way). I reserved a small car and got a Hyundai that was good on gas. read more

First, huge shout outs to Christina (Chris) and SAmonie. More about them later. This is my first time using Fox Rent A Car. I have my preferred brands but on this occasion I was needing a less expensive option than my go-tos were presenting. I've used the Rentalcars.com website before and used it to search for a car out of Ontario, CA (ONT). Fox Rent A Car was by far the cheapest option. Admittedly, I was a little skeptical so I tried other booking websites, even going Incignito Mode and using a VPN, and I still was seeing Fox as my lowest-cost option. Booking was super easy. When I made my reservation, my credit card company pinged me about a foreign transaction. That's when I remembered their transactions go through Booking.com. I think it's a British agency. No matter, I've used them before. The only downside so far has been they give you a Booking #, not a Reservation #. The US companies like Avis, etc. can never find my reservation using a Booking number. If using Fox Rent A Car out of ONT, a few things to be aware. First, it is an off-site location. It might be why their price is lower. It is not on airport property like I the rental agencies. You take your usual shuttle bus to the main rental car center but then you'll take another shuttle to the off-site location about 2 miles away. I didn't know this so upon arriving at the rental car center, I saw the familiar brands like Avis, Budget, and Enterprise, but no Fox. A momentary panic set in. I asked one of the counter agents about Fox and he said they send a shuttle every 20 minutes or so. He said it would be Eurocar or Fox that would do the pickup. I called Fox Customer Service to verify. Their phone tree is designed to discourage but I kept on and finally connected with a human. I had a terrible time understanding the person on the other end so politely disconnected the call and trusted the shuttle would eventually arrive. Happy to say it did a few minutes later and off we went. At the Fox counter, Chris helped me. We went through usual contract signing. We talked about their gas options and she said their price was $4.11. Chris mentioned nearby prices were closer to $4.85. That was a week ago but she's right. Most prices I've seen all week are $4.70++, but have seen a few ARCO stations at $4.20. Still her 4.11 is the lowest I've seen. Upon return, gas had gone up to $4.39 so glad I locked in the $4.11 price. It was about 10PM local time but 2AM for me and Chris could tell I was a bit tired. She offered to bring my vehicle around for me. She was ready to hop out when she noticed the gas was low so she popped back into the office, and in less than two minutes, made a change, and was bringing the new vehicle around. Chris and her co-worker, SAmonie, were just great to deal with. Chris was especially helpful. All-in-all, it was a very pleasant experience at a car rental shop at the end of a long day. You have to take the shuttle to the car rental place and then another shuttle to Fox. The Fox driver was waiting for us. It's a small, dingy office, but the woman behind the counter was nice.
