I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a very troubling experience I had with a female manager at your location. Before making any payment, I clearly confirmed multiple times whether the specific vehicle I wanted was available. The manager repeatedly assured me that the vehicle was available. Based on her confirmation, I proceeded with the payment process. However, immediately after the payment was completed, I was suddenly told that the vehicle was no longer available and had already been reserved by someone else. This was extremely confusing and unacceptable, considering the manager had just confirmed its availability moments earlier. What made the situation even worse was the manager's attitude. Instead of offering a clear explanation or attempting to resolve the issue professionally, she responded in an extremely arrogant and dismissive manner, essentially conveying a "take it or leave it" attitude. This level of disrespect and lack of accountability is highly inappropriate, especially from someone in a managerial position. Furthermore, the way I was treated during this interaction made me feel deeply uncomfortable and raised serious concerns about potential discriminatory treatment toward customers of color. Businesses operating in the United States have a responsibility to ensure that all customers are treated fairly and respectfully. I respectfully request that your company conduct a formal review of this incident and take appropriate action. If necessary, I am prepared to escalate this matter through appropriate consumer protection and civil rights channels to ensure the issue is properly addressed. Horrible experience. Released a car to me with bad tires. Paid for the bumper to bumper warranty just in case and found out after I returned the car that added insurance doesn't cover tires. Wth??? The tire sensor light came on in dash and employee told me to take it to a tire shop because it's now my problem. Didn't find any verbiage of the purchased extended warranty on website or pamphlet about bad tires. Took it to tire shop and employee told me that I shouldn't have been driving on tires...threads were excessively bad and needs replacing asap! Returned the car and employee returned it immediately after I told them what tire shop said. Unbelievable! Luckily made it back safely. Went through hoops returning something that should have been caught before car was released to me. Writing to BBB to address issue. read more

I understand the low rating for this location... Staff is overworked and probably underpaid. Nevertheless, they take the snarky comments and complaints in stride. They are actually doing an amazing job. People these days, well we just aren't patient anymore and we feel entitled. We feel we should have everything at little to no cost and handed to us yesterday! I have used this location before both on my own and through State Farm for a claim. Never had a problem then, and didn't have a problem now. You just need a little patience and a little perspective. Give the fine folks working here a break and plan your trip accordingly. If you think you can do better taking an Uber around town or renting at ONT airport... Good luck with that. read more

All I can say is thank God for Dontrell and Kareem for being problem solvers and getting the job done for their customers! They go above and beyond on their own to help when Hertz's itself is in complete disarray. I literally cannot believe the lack of customer service, the literal issue of not having any cars not to mention the poor condition of the ones I was lucky to obtain. Unfortunately, I had an insurance claim and was forced to use them. I would NOT recommend using Hertz at all but if you are I would only go to the Rancho Cucamonga location and go through Dontrell or Kareem. DO NOT come here if you are looking for a seamless transaction. DO come here if you'd like to be bent over a barrel and taken advantage of. I made AND paid for an suv to be picked up at 12:00pm, the manager said he called me to lmk that they were slammed and running behind and the vehicle would be ready between 1-1:30pm. That was strike 1. I show up at 2:15pm and he tells me he's gonna have to bring my vehicle in from the Montclair location and it would be another 30 minutes. Strike 2. I didn't have the time to spare and I was heading somewhat in that direction, so I did him and myself a favor and took an Uber to the Montclair location. When it was time to return the vehicle I called the Montclair location and asked if it would be ok to drop it off at the Rancho location since I only live 1.5 miles away. The gentleman said there was no problem on their end and that the fee should be waived due to the inconvenience. The so called "manager" Karim at the Rancho location said he would have to call me back with the fee, 1.5 hours passed with no response I had to call him again and then he informed me that the "inner city fee" to drop off to them would be $371.17 Mind you, they screwed up my reservation which was fully paid for in advance and still wanted to charge me an extra $371 for my troubles. That was strike 3. NOTE: The folks at the Montclair location were much more helpful. Bottom line is, Hertz has left me with an overall crap experience. Even though the people at Montclair were much better, the experience I had at the Rancho location has left me with no desire to ever rent from Hertz again if it can be avoided. read more

I wanted to like this place, but a lot of things going on here don't make sense. I reserved a vehicle through Hotwire for an 11:00am pick up. When I arrived, there were 4 Hertz porters standing in the shade by the front door waiting. There was only one Hertz employee at the desks. He was closing out a contract and answering phones. Odd, since when I tried to call to tell them I may be a little late, no one answered the phones. A nice young man rented us a vehicle, then the same person had to clean and prep my car while the porters stood around. I didn't understand that. Now I hesitated to comment because I'm always very vocal about things that I don't get, but I didn't want to undermine the lead employee's authority on this. The car they rented me had a problem with the key fob. Wouldn't always start even if I was sitting in the car with the fob on the console. Since I was in the neighborhood of the agency, I reported the problem to them. This time the manager was there. Her resolution was to call the Pep Boys auto parts store next door and arrange for them to replace the battery. Even after "I" drove over to have them replace the key fob battery, didn't get much better. I only had one day left on my contract, so I reminded them of the problem upon check in. Prices here are much less than renting from airport (No Airport taxes $$$). I saved about $100 on a 6dah rental, even after getting an Uber to the airport from here. It's a small shop in a strip mall, but if you over look all that and just looking for clean cars to rent while visiting in the area, you can't beat it. Mike C. I reserved a gas vehicle and was given an electric and was told when a gas one came in I could change vehicles.That was definitely a lie I tried to change the vehicle they basically shoved down my throat. I went to Hertz at the airport and one in Montclair both said all they have are electric vehicles.Only problem is you have to download an app for the different chargers if your going to have electric vehicles you should set up a way to charge that POS.I was told I could charge it at home if I buy a charging cable. Made an appointment online and selected managers special at a daily rate of $45. Arrived at reservation time and was told they only had a "truck" available. Okay. Whatever. I need a vehicle. Get me into a Toyota Sequoia and finally says okay we need a credit card. It's $150 a day. What the hell. How is that not a bait and switch?!?! Don't waste your time at this Hertz. They have so many 1 star reviews for a reason.They cannot accommodate car rentals and should just closed their doors. They should tell their customers they have no cars before arrival as if they are the only car rental company available. I rented a Tesla online, they picked me up in a Tesla, the manager told the counter rep it was for me only for the counter rep to say " I don't know why he told you that, there are 3 people ahead of you for a Tesla". Why was I able to reserve a Tesla online? Then he tells me the have 1 car... 1 car or I can wait an hour to see what returns come in. Mind you I booked this reservation 2 days ago. SMH, count your days Hertz, just close your doors. He refused to cancel my rental through my insurance saying to call them....uh no cancel means cancel FOH. I would like to rate the services rendered to me on March 27- May 9 through my insurance company due to accident. The car presented was so dirty, didn't wash the car as the manager Kareem along with Dontrell and Dara said that they don't have water. The 3 staff were not polite and courteous. They don't even pick up nor drop customers to even a 1 mile destinations. Because of the poor accommodations I had to transfer to another car rental which is Enterprise which did the opposite of these 3 people assigned. Horrifying experience! Every worker in here has an excuse for everything when they fall short. 1. I prepaid for a car reservation in full. Got there an hour late and my car was given away. WTF? I prepaid for it for the whole weekend. Three hours later, someone returned a car and I finally got one. 2. I tried calling them for a pick up and tell them I was running late, and I assure you, they do NOT answer their phones! Ever! I tried for an hour. 3. No drop off back home due to COVID. Really? Uber and Lyft do it. And everything is back open in California. So add $50 for pick up and drop off by car rides to and from the Hertz shop. Never again! I usually use Enterprise, but they had no cars left. read more

I prepaid for a compact sedan and when I arrived the sales rep told me the only thing that was available was an electric SUV. He told me that if I wanted anything else I would have to pay extra. Why on earth would I need to pay extra when it was the establishment's fault? It's not like I just made a reservation, I PREPAID. He told me I had no other choice and at that point it was too late to go anywhere else. I told him I was concerned about having to charge it because I was on a time crunch, in fact one day I would have to drive 4 hours straight, early the morning to get to work. He assured me that it ran 250 miles on a full charge and took about 45 minutes to an hour to charge fully. None of this was true. He didn't explain to me that it took 45 minutes to an hour just to charge to 80%. And the 80% charge got me AT MOST 155 miles, 155 is nowhere near 80% of 250. I also charged it at my hotel overnight and when it claimed it was fully 100% charged it only charged to 212 miles, not the 250 that the representative claimed. And in actuality I only got about half of those 212 miles before I ran out of charge. It wouldn't even hold the minimum range. At another charging station, 45 minutes got me approximately 90 MILES OF CHARGE. And 1.5 hours only got me about 130 miles charge. Mind you I ALWAYS used the hypercharger, the ultra fast charger the sales rep recommended. The mileage was also completely inaccurate, I burned through those miles far quicker than in actuality even when driving conservatively and using no accessories, it showed that I was using up excessive kilowatts. At one point I even had to backtrack because my phone said that I could easily make it to the next charging station with about 40 miles to spare, but after getting closer it became clear there was no way I would make it, so I had to turn around and find the previous charging station. The morning I had to drive 4 hours to get to work, I was incredibly late for work because I already stopped once to get a charge and needed to get a second charge to make it there, even though by what the rep said I should have been able to get to work without stopping at all. So I had to speed to get to work and I got a speeding ticket, my first in decades. And I was still an hour late to work. I spent half my trip looking for charging stations, driving to charging stations, and waiting at charging stations, at times late at night. I wasted hours in parking lots spending precious limited time I had on my trip as well as giving up much needed sleep in order to charge it. The last couple days I had the car I had planned another road trip but after my experience did not want to deal with the hassle of hours wasted charging it so completely gave up on that trip, essentially wasting the last couple days I had the car. I wasted hundreds of dollars and dozens of hours, not to mention all the time and hassle. It's worth going to a more reputable company in the future, it will save a lot of money, not to mention time, in the long run. read more

Now, I understand the low ratings for this branch of Hertz Car Rentals in Rch Cucamonga ! Note to self: "always, always, always look-up the rental business before doing business, then make direct contact with the local office!" This office, viewed from the pictures taken pre-COVID days, WAS good at best. If you notice the grand entrance, there are two intake desks with four chairs for the general public to receive reservations. TODAY, there is only one intake desk with one chair for reservations. The service staff are absent during peak days; when present, are rude, uncaring, and hostile. I should have expected the worst; when attempting to make a telephone reservation, my call was automatically routed to the National Reservation desk. Again, note to self: "re-read the first sentence in this message, again." To the champions at the corporate office: either permanently shut down this location, or get off you "@$#$" and hire professional, business-like reservationists. The quality here simply sucks! I was here two weeks ago to pick up a reservation and I was utterly disturbed. Let's start with the rude, condescending, and pathetic employees. They appear to be under the influence. I went through my AAA to reserve a midsize car so I could take my vehicle to the dealership. Upon arrival it was 2 staff assisting customers after it became busy they were down to 1. When I was securing details of my reservation with staff they had someone vacuuming. Problem is it was 11am and full of customers. They also tried to give me a vehicle that was flithy and compact. Then said they take it to get washed and sanitized it at the carwash LIES. The man plugged a hand vacuum up and had the cord running from inside the business to the parking lot. Aside from that i was still unable to get a car because they wanted to hold $800 on my CC. I will NEVER come to this location AGAIN.....EVER maybe never rent from Hertz. So I needed a car for 1 day. Didn't care what kind so I stopped by the local hertz to save me driving an extra 20 minutes to Ontario airport. Ontario airport hertz showed their cars were cheaper but time is money right. The woman checking me out was nice. She said all they had was a mini van. I'm game. No big deal. Paperwork is done she walks away and now we wait. After 15 minutes of just sitting I ask "what are we waiting on"? Answer: "You car is at the car wash and we have to go pick it up." I said something to the effect of can we get going- when is that gonna happen. Now the manager steps in. Middle aged woman with an accent. She states "I'm the only one here who tells my people what todo." What? She tells me it will take 40 minutes to get the car. Wow. Great. Ah hour wait for a car to arrive. Why didn't I just drive the 20 minutes to Ontario airport where the cars are? When I asked if they had a car to rent I assumed it meant they physically had a car-nope. So while we wait the manger decides its funny to insult me. At one point she said "hey don't take it personal I'm just messing with you." I'm not in the mood at this point for this unprofessional BS. She then had the nerve to asked me "do you mind me asking why you need a car for only 1 day?" Yes mind your own business. After almost an hour my car arrives. Fast forward to the next day. I drop off the car at 525. I picked up the car at 440. They charged me for an extra day due to being less than an hour over. Not prorated at the hour but an entire extra day. Well done Hertz. Right now most businesses Customer Service has declined dramatically. Workers are under staffed and demand is high. I was pleasantly surprised using Hertz. Someone hit my car and I had to use Maaco for repairs and this Hertz was recommended by their team. I was picked up and dropped off from the repair shop without a hassle. I was in and out of Hertz in no time at all. Golda assisted me both times and she was amazing. I really appreciated her understanding my situation and being so extremely helpful. Golda made the process so smooth and efficient. If I need a rental for leisure or necessity I'll definitely use this Hertz again! read more

Terrible place with uncaring staff. My last experience was worse than the DMV and dentist combined! No words to describe the level of frustration and misery they created for me. Told to "have a seat until your turn", waited an hour for my vehicle, which was substituted from what i ordered. Only given 1/3 tank of gas, so I had to make another stop before my trip. Then the cherry on top was refusing to accept the car at closing. The woman said she isn't allowed to stay 1min past closing, so would not accept the vehicle or give me my next rental I needed. I had to drive 30miles to the next Hertz to drop off with an additional fee. SOOO MAD at the lack of customer experience and level of effort. AVOID this location at all costs! read more

With a 9am reservation, it took an hour to get my vehicle and out of the parking lot. When I picked up the case on Tuesday the two agents inside were more interested in complaining about how busy they were going to get since their manager was going to turn reservations back on because of their high level of inventory. The car is a little older and has a stale smell in it. The tire pressure light was on and the agent took the car to the gas station and filled up the tires hoping there wasn't a real tire issue. The return was simple, the lady in the office took my paperwork, asked me if it was full or if there was any damage and took my key and I was on my way. read more

Hertz is no longer the top car rental company! They became fraudulent and scam!!! This was the worst car rental experience I had. I rented for 14 days. But due to personal issue, I need return the car just one hour after I picked up the car. I was getting into their store and asked first before I decided to return. After confirming I just need paid for one day and would get the rest 13-day money back, I did it. HOWEVER, right after I returned the car, front desk guy told me I need to call Hertz customer service to check the specific amount I will be refunded. Then I called Hertz Customer Service, then they told me they would not refund me because they already charged me. Then the rude customer service just hanged up my phone. I called in again and they hanged up again!!!?? OMG HOW RIDICULOUS AND FRUSTRATED! Isn't it!!? 1) I confirmed with Hertz staff before I returned the car. If they said no I couldn't get money back, I would definitely keep the car, not just throw away my money over $1,000! 2) The Hertz customer service is the worst worst worst in this whole world!! They even don't want to explain but just be fraudulent. You need transfer tons of times and wait for more than half an hour to call in and then they will hang up. Super annoyed and unacceptable. No solution, no reply, no any communication they will do. I have to get my money back this time. So I will do any either through my bank or file a lawsuit. But for everyone, please be caution! Hertz is becoming fraudulent and scam. Service is terrible, car is terrible, price is terrible, no reliable at all! Don't be cheated by them. Now I am using Enterprise. They are definitely so much more reliable and providing much better service than Hertz. Their store supervisor promised me my money won't be charged if I want to return a few days ahead.
