I think I take customer service SO SERIOUSLY in everything I patronize. So for that reason I will stick to this place.. BUT!!... I was quoted one price and I think my desperation was taken advantage of cuz the price almost doubled when I arrived. Also, though I explicitly told Peter that my insurance covers my car and any car I rent 100% I realized later that I was charged for full insurance!!! That kinda pissed me off. Be aware of incorrect fuel charges. It seems that AVIS has automated the process and their system does not work. I returned the vehicle to AVIS at ONT airport on June 22 with a full tank of fuel and got charged $115 for 10 gallons of fuel. Called AVIS customer service spoke to Anika, the supervisor she was not helpful. Same issue happened on June 6th, when I returned a vehicle at AVIS LAX with a full tank and got charged $11 for 1 gallon of fuel. read more

I was simply trying to figure out where it is in the weirdest location find the place park. Couldn't find staff anywhere it was like the lady was hiding. She was all the way over on the enterprise place. And when I asked hey where do I leave the keys. She said don't you read your emails put them on dash. Which I get it sorry didn't read them because it was in my spam... didn't offer to take my keys told me I had to go back to the car and put them there. Mind you I have my big ole check in bag, wife's purse, car seat in the other hand. Would've appreciated some little help like I'll take care of the keys. I don't smoke!!!! At vehicle check out I reported the vehicle I rented smelled like smoke. They noted it in the system. When I returned I asked them to note again; they said it wasn't an issue. SUMMARY: Do not rent here if you are flying in to Ontario. No shuttle, nearly impossible to get a Lyft, and they will charge you $50 even if you rent from another Avis thats closer. If they refund me my $50, I will take this down. If its still up, Avis has decided they did not screw me bad enough for $300 for a compact car for 2 days, they wanted that extra $50 as well. I booked a reservation for a rental car for 4/5/2021 through Expedia for this location. The rates at the airport were significantly more so I figured it was worth the cost of a Lyft to go from the airport to rent here. When I landed I tried to order an Uber, however Uber does not service the Ontario Airport, only Lyft. I went on and put an order in for a Lyft, the app flashed that there were very few drivers and said "searching" for a good 10 minutes. I closed out and tried it again. After 30 minutes of standing there trying to get Lyft to even connect with a driver, I gave up. I looked at walking, it was 2.5 miles and I had appointments in under an hour I had to be at for work, so that was not an option. No taxi cabs. And of course, Avis has no shuttles and does not provide any transportation from the airport. I ended up having to walk a half mile instead to the Airport car rental area where I rented an Avis vehicle for 2 days and it cost me just under $300. I explained the situation to the Avis agent and he canceled my reservation and assured me I would not be charged for a no show fee ($50). Today I see I was charged a $50 no show fee by Avis on my credit card. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with their customer service and got nowhere. They said call Expedia, even though Avis did the charge. Expedia is an hour wait on hold, still waiting for that call back. However, the reality is Avis has my money. They do not disclose on their reservation that there is no transportation they provide and do not have any accomodation for customers at the airport who, by no fault of their own, cannot get a ride from the airport to their location. I still rented from Avis, was told by Avis I would not be charged $50, paid Avis 2X what I would have paid at this location, and then Avis charged me $50. Called AVIS and was told to call someone else. read more

These guys are rip off artists. I'm surprised that Avis hasn't caught them in their fraudulent activity. Rented a car for less than 24 hours from airport location. Went to lunch, hotel by airport, cross country meet about 7 miles away, back to hotel, then back airport the next morning. I get a bill for and additional $250 for excessive grass and dirt on the floor boards. I called to try and rectify or even understand how grass and dirt are not a normal clean of the floor board in a rental vehicle and they won't answer the phone. To be fair I do not know if he is the employee or the owner of this location but his customer service was at the best- NON EXISTENT, not to mention he was also arrogant and also extremely rude. I am writing this for two reasons: When I went to pick up my rental they said I would get a compact car like that of a Taurus or the like I got a Kia Rio. It was fine. Great gas mileage. However, as soon as I entered the car it was filled with marijuana Odor. So much so that I had to put the windows down so I could breathe. Then, they had to charge me for dropping it off at the airport when I told them my flight left before they open but still had me put down at returning it at noon. Horrible. read more

Had an issue with my other reservation and tried to rent one here last minute. We were working with a budget for our family trip and thought we were getting a good deal until the agent kept telling me the insurance was "bundled" into the price. First red flag then we run into an issue with "verification" they start to tell us that since THERE system is down we have to drive all the way home and fight traffic on the way back for almost an hour to get a "government issued ID" but my wife is sitting there with the REAL ID which is supposed to be a valid and verified form of ID. We ask to speak to a manager and this portly man comes out with his police issued sun glasses and with his chest puffed out and rudely just says "no, it's company policy" so even after we jumped through all the hoops they put in front of us this man basically shut down our plans. Rude and shady aren't a good combo, a renter is allowed to use personal insurance to cover damages, don't bullshit people and tell them it's "Bundled" read more

My boyfriend and I were driving up to Fresno from Ontario to visit his family in April 2018. We weren't sure if his car could make it up the grapevine, so decided to rent a car instead. We have rented from multiple Avis before and they are all great...except for this one!!! I went to pick up the car from this location and the guy said to give him a few more minutes since he was just about to finish washing it. No problem, I like clean cars. The checkout process was quick. We got in and started to drive off. No issues. Come June 2018, I see a random charge on my credit card from Avis Ontario. I called Avis to find out what this ridiculous charge was for. They said for a broken glass. What broken glass?? I returned the car in the condition I received it. Worst car rental place on the planet. We went in and they didn't have our car, we asked if we could get a shuttle back to our hotel, and I quote from the manager, "What's it worth to ya?" He straight up tried to scam me and my fiancée. They're thieves who work here, if you go next door to Enterprise they will beat whatever garbage offer Avis was going to rob you with. I made a prepaid rental reservation on the Avis website with my chase freedom credit card. The reservation was confirmed. I went to pick up my car and the guy said their file system will not take this type of credit card, a CHASE visa credit card, mind you that Avis has already charged and approved the rate. Now I am out of the total charge for 5-7 business days until Avis refunds the total and also without a car. The guy at the desk was not rude but he definitely was not helpful at all. No explanation, just an excuse of we are independently owned and there's nothing we can do. I have never had an issue renting a car with my credit card so the only thing different in this situation is the location. This establishment provided great customer service to me when picking up the vehicle. The associate was very helpful and efficient in getting me taken care of as quickly as possible. I actually switched from enterprise to Avis after calling enterprise left me with a questionable impression (I called in about additional details on my rental info and was given attitude and rushed off the phone). My only concern would be the prices. I thought I purchased insurance and found out it was only for certain circumstance and that I would need a more expensive option (chose not to take it). Also, I filled up the tank before leaving to return the rental (it's about 20 minutes from my house). They charged me $20 at the Phoenix location because the line was barely off from being full. The person who checked the car said himself it was only gonna charge me $5 to fill the tank at a station; however considering the time of the return I would've risked being charged an extra day had I gone searching for a gas station. My reservation clearly stated to return car by 1200, which I did. The owner at this location said I owed another 27 because I should have returned car by 10 am. I tried to show him my reservation and he wouldn't even look at it. O said fine just charge it so I can be done with this and move on with my day. Lousy customer service for even longterm renters, then Imagine how occasional renters will be treated: I regularly rent car and I have been doing it for past 5 months. There was an extra charge for the Children car safety seats I have taken and I was told that Fiaz will correct it by Sunny. Two days later when I checked with them, Peter told me that he had no idea how to correct it and asked me to contact call center. Call center folks told me that I need to contact Avis location where I rentered car. When I finally called them they havent corrected some thing they promised to do some thing 20 days back and they again promised me that charges won't appear when I drop off the car. Do not go to this shitty service of a rental car establishment. The service was terrible I had prepaid for a Toyota 4 runner or similar this guy gave me a Mitsubishi Outlander totally different. He kept telling me that the outlander was the same as the 4 runner . We open the car to inspect the vehicle with him and he tells us before hand that the vehicle is all clean when it wasn't and it smelled like weed completely. This was unacceptable and then we asked him what else was available he gives a option of another outlander next to the one I was supposed to take and we ask him to open it up to inspect as well. As soon as my wife opens the door once he unlocks the second vehicle it smells like cigarettes and my wife ask him you sure that this vehicle is clean? My wife is testing him to see what he says because the door she open on the door has a cigarette bud inside the door storage bins. He lies straight up to our face that the car has been clean and we call him to the door where my wife found the cigarette bud and says does this look clean to you ? Avis not charges you for the car itself but also a $250 dollar deposit on top of that . Do not go to these people for this type of service there scamming you big time . read more

Be advised that it is not a California State Law to accept the additional insurance. We had to pay an additional $119 because Justin stated it was the law. Upon returning the retuning car agent said not a law. Went inside and they said sorry...if you would have came right back we would have given you the refund but it's too late now! This is off-airport location....only 5 minutes from Ontario Airport. They will pick you up and drop you off at airport. They are EXCELLENT...great service and you save many $$$ by using off-airport location. They were very efficient and service oriented.l..couldn't ask more. read more

READ YOUR CONTRACT BEFORE CLICKING "AGREE". They DO rush you through on purpose! My price doubled also!! After we TOLD her we didn't need insurance, she tried to sneak it in anyway, but I caught it. However, they still overcharged me at the end of the rental period. I rented a car online and told both a REP an Avis as well as the Airport agent that I would be returning between 10pm-12am and figured I had paid for everything in advance. When I returned, they charged me for an additional day plus a late fee. Also, the battery died in the CMAX I rented and I had to wait a whole hour for their roadside assistance during my trip. Was there any credit for this? NO! Not to mention the fact that once you leave the place, you can NEVER get through to talk to someone on the phone, it transfers you to the "national" call center. Called 1 week before needing the rental, spoke to Britney and the day before the pick-up called again to confirm reservation. She said everything was fine and that even though she wasn't going to be there on the day of pick-up not to worry to give them the reservation # and that they would honor the price I had been quoted. Got there the day of pick-up and the man (think it was the manager)who was there was totally unfriendly and said that he showed no reservation, no amount and would not honor the price I had been given by Britney. Instead he wanted to upgrade the rental I thought I had to the next size and have me pay more. This was unacceptable knowing I had the reservation,. Not sure what happened with the reservation that was made but he made our rental experience a bitter one. Left and took my business elsewhere and was able to walk away with an even better rental deal. Will NEVER go to this location again, it was my first and last. read more

Ok, one minor issue, but it NOTHING to do with this Avis, the employees, or car. The issue was me not realizing this facility is 3 miles away from the airport, and I had to take a Taxi there. But, saying that it was totally worth it. We booked online for a 5 day rental from Avis off of Holt (Th-M) for $145. If we did the airport Avis it would have been $280. Totally worth the taxi. Avis off of Holt= Car was nice, employees were nice. Thanks! read more
