Lately, my pregnancy cravings have been laser-focused on one thing: toasted bagels with cream cheese. On the Fourth of July, I had to have one, but my usual spot was closed. Desperation kicked in, so I hopped on Yelp and found Fox's. I ordered the egg bagel with scallion cream cheese, and it was exactly what I needed. The bagel had that ideal balance; crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. The scallion cream cheese was fresh, flavorful, and generously spread without being overwhelming. Every bite hit the spot. It's official: Fox's is my new go-to for bagels in Columbus. If you're a bagel lover (or just following your cravings like me) this place is absolutely worth a visit.

Boom bam boom, it is what it is. You walk in, see the menu, pick your bagel if your getting one, pay, and in a jiffy your out. I was in and outta there in about 7-10 mins which I appreciate. Their parking lot it teeny tiny so I parked by Dollar General and walked over. Plus I didn't feel like having my car scratched so I appreciated the room. Depending on the time of day good luck making a left outta there to go further East but making a right going West should be NO PROBLEM. I ordered a Corned Beef, Egg, Pepper Jack Cheese, on a Jalapeño Cheddar Bagel with a side of scallion cream cheese and potato cake. Great flavor combination but the bagel without the cream cheese was a little dry but once I added the cream cheese it was perfect. The potato cakes are teeny tiny but good. I'll be back.

This is my Lox and bagel with "the works"

Fox's has failed me again. See the picture below, I asked for lox and bagel, and this is what I got. Where are the capers, where is the tomato, where is the onions? (picture shows only half of the bagel). I come to Columbus three or four times a year and always look forward to my lox and Bagel. This is certainly not the quality that I have been getting from Blocks Bagels for years and years. The best part of this meal was the pickle spear, which apparently, now you have to ask for. Time to find a new place

    Cookies to go!

I had the egg and cheese bagel and my husband had a cream cheese bagel. Order at the counter and the food is done quickly. We both enjoyed our breakfast. I picked up a couple of cookies to go and they were also very good. There is not a lot of room to park in the parking lot, but we did find a spot. The table had fun crayons on it for children to use. We have been here before and we will probably come back again.

Lox bagels, capers and jalapeño cream cheese.

Simply amazing. Just a great down home small business Original. Loxx and bagels are awesome at around $12 a plate. Great staff, great service and of course great food.

Poppy seed bagels with little to no coverage. Seeds don't stick to the bagel at all.
    Bethany L.

Bagel dough is good but the toppings don't stick to the bagel and they have very poor poppy seed coverage. At this point it's basically a plain bagel. If they update their production process to correct this (very obvious) issue I'd update to 5 stars. I just don't see how a manager or owner could sell these as poppy seed bagels and not see a problem with it or work to correct the issue so that the toppings stick better to the bagel?

Really neat experience to watch people go in and grab their bagels. The bagel was excellent! I love the thickness of cream cheese!

It took about 15 minutes to get the bagel and I'm watching multiple people who ordered after me with multiple items get their food and leave while I ordered a single bagel. I eventually got annoyed and went up there and asked him what happened to my order and I guess they misplaced it or something I don't know, but eventually, my food came out I hope because it took so long it would actually be toasted to Golden, but I actually had to take the cream cheese off and see if they toasted it at all. It definitely wasn't toasted golden and again definitely not extra cream cheese. I don't feel like the order is ever that difficult but clearly they do what they want and you're just supposed to accept it. Definitely not gonna keep going here and giving them a chance after chance for them to drop the ball.

I opted for the Por que no el Puerco on the cashier-recommended pretzel bun. The flavors and the layers were sensational. A great bite without being too heavy or too greasy. The pretzel bun was also a great choice - some salt but not trying to actively dehydrate you with every bite. The Bear bottled latte was also quite good. It was a very unique flavor profile with obviously lots of banana but it took a little getting used to being mixed with the bitterness of the coffee and some of the nuttiness of the hazelnut and oat milk. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to get it again, but with the limited coffee options here, I wouldn't not get it either. Overall, a really solid place to stop. Not necessarily the best place to go if you're looking for breakfast AND coffee, but certainly a great local joint to check out!

Additionally, having had a Goodman's Deli mile high corned beef sandwich when I lived in Cleveland, I had even higher expectations. Their most popular sandwich is the Reuben so I went with that. Katzingers did not meet them. When I arrived to pick up my sandwich I was shocked the line wasn't out the door to place orders before they closed and the dining room had maybe 6 people in it. There were about 6 to go bags on the shelf along with mine. When I mentioned to the cashier that I was surprised it wasn't busier, she said it'll be busier tomorrow. I said the day after St Pat's? No answer. Another not good sign in my mind. When I got home, the wrapped sandwich was bigger than my hand but not very tall. The paper had areas of grease which is a good sign for this sandwich. The corned beef itself was tender but there wasn't as much of it, maybe an inch high and 1/3 of the bread had no corned beef. I also could not taste the thousand island dressing. The rye bread was toasted but pretty soggy. The crust was mostly crunchy. The bread slices were paired upside down putting a narrower side a larger side against each other. There is not enough sauerkraut and it is not very sour. I was given the choice of a dill or garlic pickle but I cannot tell you how it was because they didn't put it in the bag. I expected this sandwich to have so much meat in it, I could eat for multiple days for $18. Again, disappointed. Maybe I should've gotten the deli sized version but paying that much for a sandwich... The inside of the deli is fun and it's obvious it's been around a long time and has been well loved. I wanted to like Katzinger's but since the price and the quality don't match, I cannot.

Once you find the door, you'll enter a small retail space with a view of the large kitchen / bakery area. There's extremely limited seating (really just two tables / window seats), but the space is certainly bright, attractive, and inviting. (The restroom for customers is so well kept and clean by the way; kudos to the business for that). There's an array of sandwiches and pastries on display for sale, as well as bread and a coffee drink menu. The prices are extremely high: think $28 for a sandwich, $16 for a pastry. So, with that price, the bar is set very high. I ordered three pastries: Copia Egg & Bacon Danish, Sweet Cheese Danish, and Almond Twice Baked Croissant. The egg and bacon danish was truly excellent -- savory, a little sweet, herbal elements (rosemary etc) that was so unique. The almond croissant was good; I appreciated the almond filling and the size. The sweet cheese danish was a real miss. It was as hard as a rock, and the cream was a very thin layer. It tasted like something you could get at a lesser chain bakery or coffee shop, and definitely not worth the price. I also ordered the salty caramel iced latte, and it was really great. The size is a little small for the price (again!), but the quality is excellent. So, there were major hits, and a big miss. I'd go back to try a few other things, but only if I am really ready to splurge.
