We then shared the pierogies. Not sure if they were homemade or not, but they were definitely not the standard Mrs. T's. I loved how they put the potato pierogies on a bed of sauerkraut. It was the best of both worlds. If I had one complaint, I'd say the sauerkraut was a bit too sweet for my liking. But it was still good. For the main course, we shared a fish sandwich. No complaints here. A nice piece of fish served on a fresh bun with good fries.

Rebel that I was, I didn't follow her advice and went instead to a middling sushi spot further down the street. On the bitterly cold walk back to the hotel, I decided to stop in. Sitting at the cocktail bar, the place was quite crowded, and unfortunately they were counting down to their trivia night. Even though I was an undefeated Silver Screen Trivial Pursuit champion in my youth, I took a pass on the contest. Instead I had the $11 Espresso Martini, a mix of vodka, coffee liqueur, and cold brew in a can (Photo 6). It was basically what I wanted for a nightcap. As I took my last gulp, the trivia started. Back to the hotel for me. But I do:)) So I went and asked if she bent it she lied and told me no, to which I corrected her and told her we know she did (his id is brand new and it says it on there). Her reason is "PA IDs don't bend" I said i understand but this isn't a Pa id and informed her of the 3 main ways to know it is real also told her to make a google search. She refused to check it again and said she didn't need to serve him. (Which I know is true) At the end of the day you do not do this to someone's GOVERNMENT documents‍ mind u the owner was right there the whole time and both of them tried to tell me no one bent it and grab it out of my hands I was showing them. The drive is beautiful, especially on a sunny day in the fall. The leaves are incredible. As you're driving winding roads along Wills Creek, Hillbilly Haven pops out of nowhere. You'll see plenty of pick-up trucks, four-wheelers and side-by-sides. What you get: is an absolutely quintessential dark, country, dive bar. Beloved by locals, they have pool tables, a small live music and dance area inside and a really nice outside area in the back. You'll meet some of the nicest people. Just remember-it is a local country bar and when in Rome... Here's the big draw-oh my goodness, the food! People come from miles away to get take-out. The wings are perfectly seasoned no matter the sauce/rub, juicy but crisp. The Hillbilly Deluxe burger puts a Big Mac to shame. The smoked meats are done on site by people who really know what they're doing. If you're looking for a Saturday or Sunday road trip on a pretty day and some terrific food, find Hillbilly Haven. riser's is a place everyone needs to visit if they want to get the taste of connellsville. yes,…read moreit's a dive. yes, someone was stabbed here. yes, there are no beers on tap. and yes, the crowd ranges from middle aged rednecks to young hippies to bikers. but it's a fun place! first of all, it's cheap. lori, my favorite bartender, is a sweetheart. and there's kareoke every thursday-sunday. if you're a connellsvillian barfly, riser's is where you usually end up after some of the other bars close, because i have never ever seen this place close early. i've had some great times here, but you really have to like dives, or at least connellsville, to appreciate riser's pub.

It took about 15 minutes just for someone to take our drink order. Our waitress explained there was a delay due to staff singing happy birthday, which we understood. After placing our food order, we waited another 20 minutes. Eventually, the kitchen brought out both orders of wings and the pot roast sandwich--but no pizza. When our waitress checked on us, we mentioned the missing pizza, and she explained it comes from a separate line and would be out later. That was fine, but no effort was made to check on it or follow up. We nearly finished all of our food, and still no pizza. Our waitress then returned with boxes and the check, asking if we needed anything else. At that point, I again mentioned the missing pizza. She rolled her eyes and repeated that it comes from a different line. By then, we were already done eating and no longer wanted it. What followed was extremely unprofessional. After we declined the pizza, she stormed off, removed it from the bill, then came back holding the pizza, dropped the check on the table, and said, "Well here it is--you don't want it?!" She then offered the pizza to a nearby table in an irritated tone. When I said I would be mentioning this in my review, she responded, "I don't know why you're so mad, I did nothing wrong." When I tried to calmly explain the situation from a customer perspective, she interrupted, put her hand up toward me, and said, "Whatever, I don't care, you're nasty." She then continued speaking negatively about us to coworkers within earshot. This was one of the most unprofessional dining experiences I've ever had. There was no apology at any point, no accountability, and no basic courtesy such as thanking us or acknowledging us when we left. The food was okay, but the service completely overshadowed the experience.
