Although they're known for pizza, Fox's feels very much like a diner when you're not carrying out. It's definitely a neighborhood joint. This is the kind of place you may have hung out at in high school when you weren't going to the movies or drinking wine coolers and Natty Light in Erin Gallagher's basement. I've always found Fox's pizza to be underwhelming. You could do better at Roseangela's or much better at Vito & Nick's. The rest of the menu is on roughly the same level. But they do get a nod for being one of the few non-chain restaurants open later in the evening. read more

We stopped in here at about 7PM, after a full day of drinking during the Southside St. Patty's Day Parade. I had previously been here 2 or 3 times. The pizza is pretty mediocre - thin and greasy. Much better thin crust to be found elsewhere on the southside. I love their tomato bread, though I think quality has gone down since the first time I came here. Full disclosure, this is basically what I ate once a week for 18 years growing up in Beverly. I absolutely despised it by the time I left, but now for some bizarre reason I leap at the opportunity to come down and split a pie with my dad. Its greasy, thin crust, simple stuff cooked up by local high schoolers (my brothers were one time chefs) that is not meant to be gourmet but merely gives Beverly residents their pizza fix for reasonable prices. It is an acquired taste but when you get a hankering for it, nothing else will substitute. I suggest the sausage pizza, or any other meat pizza since they are always generous with the meat. Also, the pizza bread brings that special, artery clogging taste that really is the best in Beverly (that was actually meant as a compliment) As stated before, is it worth the trip to Beverly, God no, but if you have a South Sider with you who needs his Fox's, don't be surprised if he insists on going. read more

Since we moved to Beverley I grew fond of this pizza joint. We made new friends here and the staff is awesome. I have their phone number moved to one of my free speed dial number sports. They make very large thin crust Pizza's very tasty and possibly from a different planet. Well, maybe I was wrong about Fox's pizza. Having a Fox pizza at the Cicero Ave. Fox's last summer, I definitely was not a fan. This time, my cousin suggested the original Fox's on Western. We ordered salads, which were very good, like the other fox's. When we ordered the pizza, my cousin requested extra napkins so we can blot off all the grease on the pizza. Once we did this, the pizza was absolutely wonderful! And, even more importantly, no stinkin' white sox junk around- just bears stuff...maybe I will avoid Fox's pizza only during the summer. read more

I had never been here before but was in the area to see my friends sing in the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus at the Beverly Arts Center. The waffle fries are so good and so was my sloppy meatball sandwich. The best part though? Wendy. Our server was so awesome we felt like we all had known her for years. She was probably the most attentive server I've experienced and was not intrusive. I wavered between a three and a four, but ultimately a cheap steak can always win my heart. I'm kind of easy like that. A steak you say? At a pizza joint in Beverly? I know, it's kind of amazing. Sometimes a little risk brings a big reward. Sometimes not, but at Fox's? Jackpot. Let's get this one thing out of the way, the parking "lot" is a travesty. It's like three spaces along the side of the building with a few spaces behind so that people can block you in and make you want to have a conniption. Luckily there's street parking that's not too horrible if you can get a spot on the West side of Western so you don't have to cross the street praying for your life. Now that that's said and done, let's get to the good stuff. The space is smallish and cozy and the staff is super friendly. My companion ordered an individual size pizza and had enough to eat that night, last night, and I think there's probably some more leftover for lunch. It was sizable, not skimpy on the toppings by a long shot, and had a nice garlicky flavor to it that he liked. It's on the greasy side, but it's pizza, not a salad. It's not offensively greasy, it just might need a blot or two, but again, it's pizza. I went out on a bit of a limb and ordered the sirloin butt steak. Is it because I wanted to say "butt?" Probably. Ok, yes, but I also needed some iron. The steak was cooked to order and enough to split in half and eat the rest of later. It came with a potato choice and a soup or salad. In the future I might ask for a separate plate because it comes out on one of those Chili's esque fajita type platters and if you leave it on there too long, your steak might just keep cooking while it's on the table. I'll either order rare or grab a regular plate next time. And there will be a next time. Yeah, five stars. I am talking mostly about their pizza. I don't know what they did, but their pizza has been outstanding as of late. They've also been insanely generous with the coupons, offering $5 off coupons in the local papers. $5 off a $20 pizza is pretty dang good. But, like I said, the taste has improved. OMG, get the Steak House Burger. It's out of this world. If I told you how long I've been going to Fox's, it would give away how old I am (groan). Fox's is a neighborhood institution, the first place you think of when you want to get a bite after work, or when friends are in town, or... for no reason at all. There are places that are trendier, or seat bigger groups (seating is all booths, and the bigger ones seat 4), but for comfort food, you can't beat Fox's. Freaking love this place! I've only eaten in the restaurant a few times (the burgers and salads are fantastic). Mostly, I get pizza delivery or pick-up. Oh man, their pizza is so greasy good and the crust is so thin and it's just perfect! I usually opt for sausage and green peppers, but sometimes I just like plain cheese. The sausage is "real" and the green peppers are always fresh. If you're starving, pick it up yourself.... they are quick and all business. This is classic Chicago, no thrills pizza, plenty of cheap meat options (butt steak, corned beef etc,) great burgers, a full bar, closely packed, always busy, neighborhood favorite. Fox's is not going to blow anybody away with their menu, it is what it is, a cheap place to grab a meal with friends. What does Fox's have?Phenomenal pizza. Be warned going forward that it will be thin and it will be greasy. However, the cheese is succulent, the crust is burnt to perfection, and the sausage will melt your mind! I don't want to sit here and pretend that Fox's deserves to be in the "best pizza" conversation, but it is a leading candidate for "best of the rest!" I've been wanting to try the Fox for the longest time. I kept hearing good things about it. So when I actually wasn't on Western for the sole purpose of drinking, my mom and I decided to pop it. We started with an appetizer of fried mushrooms. They came to the table with a side of melted (Velveeta?) cheese and not the usual side of ranch. Is this a tradition? Because growing up on the south side, I never had an inkling to put cheese on breaded mushrooms (cauliflower, maybe). But that's just me. The mushrooms themselves were very good, just disappointed in the dipping sauce. Trying to flag down the waitress was another task in itself. Where she went, I don't know. But it would have been nice to get a drink refill or the aforementioned side of ranch. On to the main event..the pizza. The Fox's pizza is probably one of the saltiest I have ever ate. It really took away from the crust and sauce, which in itself was good. I liked the pizza, just be prepared to drink a lot of water back home. Overall I liked the atmosphere of the place. Everyone was laid back, no children running around and people into their own thing. Typical city establishment which I love. FYI: don't fully pull your car up to the building. I rarely leave reviews, especially poor reviews. If I were to rate my experience on service alone I would rate in 5 stars. Our server Ken was excellent, service is important but the quality of the food served is most important. The pizza served tonight is probably the most flavorless pizza I have ever had. We ordered a 17 inch chicken pizza with chicken, bell peppers and spinach. Everything was bland. The sauce tasted like tomato paste mixed with water and the chicken topping had absolutely no flavor. If I'm being honest a frozen pizza from the supermarket is better than what we had tonight! We expressed our disappointment with the manager Savannah. Savannah initially informed us she would be able to take $5 off the bill, which we declined. She offered to call her GM, after speaking with her GM Savannah returned with an offer of 10% off the bill. At this point we were over the experience and evening. we accepted the 10% off, paid our bill, thanked our server and left. I have been eating Pizza from Fox's in Oak Lawn for over 20 years and have NEVER been disappointed. They have a very specific type of pizza here. Very greasy, very thin, and ver delicious. Best to order about double what you think you can eat because it's so thin. Also better to order well done. Weekends are for golfing and splurging. I preface with that to say we went to Fox's and ordered the wings, the Irish nachos, and a medium sausage pizza that was like a large. Commence chow down. Irish nachos, yum scrum. Waffle fries, crisp not greasy. And stayed crispy throughout. Covered with real cheese on every loaded layer along with bacon, tomatoes, green onions. We topped it with sour cream, lil salt, lots of pepper. Kinda wanted to fight for that one top part just loaded with lots of all the gud stuff. Didn't have to, though, it was all like that. Had to stop eating them to try the rest. The wings were so so. The breading was spiced instead of sauce on them. I've had really gud wings like that. The flavor on these was average. Added hot sauce on top and they were better. The pizza was good. Yes it was greasy but to me, not the drip off the slice unedible greasy. The sauce was sweet and tangy. The only thing that didn't give it a total thumbs up was a distinct, different taste of the sausage. To me, that taste didn't go 100% with the rest. Hate to do this but on our recent trip we were not very satisfied at all. My daughter ordered lasagna and it was cold in the middle. Microwaved? We mentioned it and they said they would have a new one out immediately. This one was frozen still in the middle. Should have figured after getting it in 3 minutes. DEFINITELY MICROWAVED. Beware! I suggested Fox for a quick bite after leaving the final fitting for my friends wedding dress. Our waitress Kathy was wonderful, however when we she explained she had to get the manager to address a member of our party's dissatisfaction with their steak things went left. The manager was not empathetic to the fact that a member of our party was not satisfied with her steak and immediately began saying "well I'm not taking it off". We explained that it made my friend ill (she literally ran to the washroom to vomit) and instead of being empathetic, she actually stated "maybe she has covid". There was never a request to remove the steak from the bill, she never offered her something else, nor did she offer a discount. In fact the manager was contrary from the onset and extremely rude. I tried to de-escalate the conversation and said we'll you'll see what we do and she assumed that I meant we weren't going to pay (I meant a negative public review) and then proceeded to snatch the dinner plates from two others within my party that was closest to her reach. I have never experienced such horrible customer service. Ultimately we left without finishing our food, without paying for the meal but we made sure to leave cash tips for Kathy as it was not her fault! I'm not sure what caused the manager Ashley's bad day, but we definitely took the brunt of it and if she can't provide better customer service than that she needs to seek employment elsewhere! I wish I could give this place 2 and 1/2 stars, because it isn't quite 2 but it isn't quite 3. I've been coming here for 30 years, so obviously it's not a BAD choice. But..... On the plus side, the thin crust pizza is pretty good. Not great, by South Side Chicago standards, pretty good. Their recipe hasn't changed in decades. They put pieces of veggies on the pizza--not just little tiny shards. So if you like onions, you get ONIONS. The dining room atmosphere is classic. It's small, with nothing but booths. Very intimate and warm. I have never had bad service here. It seems that the waitstaff really likes interacting with customers, but they're not in your face. Just very concerned that you get what you want and enjoy your meal. On the minus side, they recently updated their menu--including the price column! My lunch yesterday was 30% higher than usual...Italian beef sandwich with sides of baked beans (their signature side) and fries, and two beers, set me back $18. Granted, Chicago has a high food tax, but I thought this was a little high. Not outrageously so, but still. Then, the food wasn't at its usual calibre....the Italian beef is usually heaped with meat, and this amount was okay but not great. My friend ordered the Irish Rueben (everything at Fox's is Irish) which is usually a great choice, but this was...so-so. Maybe the chef was having an off day. I should also mention that my friend always starts with a bloody Mary, and she always requests celery--that's as standard as asking for an olive with a martini--and they always say, "Sorry! No celery!" I know that's a small thing, but drink recipes include garnishes. The biggest issue with Fox's is the parking. It's really limited. Street parking is limited to one hour, and then you have to move your car. You could take a chance, but we have maniac parking police in this neighborhood who start salivating at the possibility of giving out tickets. There's a small lot next to the building, which accomodates two rows of cars....but the row next to the building is boxed in, and patrons who do the boxing in get annoyed if they have to come out to release you from the lot. You can park down the street, but no one wants to walk half a block, so if you score a good spot be prepared for an unpleasant confrontation. Fox's is reliably decent, although the price hike plus the parking means that you have to really WANT to come here. read more

My cheese pizza had 2 hairs in it, the bottom cheese was burnt. I've never had a bad experience with foxes before. We ordered from Fox's for the second time tonight. We ordered at 5:45p and I went to pick it up. When I got home, I realized they gave us entirely the wrong pizza (we ordered pepperoni, mushroom, black olive and got half cheese half sausage). I called and they said they would deliver the correct pizza to us but we had to give the current one back. It came 45 mins later. As some other posts have mentioned, not exactly the best customer service. We put in our dinner order at 5:45 and finally got our main dinner at 7:40. I visited this restaurant for the first time today. Growing up in Chicago, I'm used to eating great pizza. Fox's was suggested as one of the best pizza places in Chicago in a Facebook group, so I immeadiately went to Yelp and saw a lot of great reviews and pictures. I went in and ordered my pizza to go. After getting home, I couldn't wait to try it. Unfortunately my pizza was extremely overcooked (to put things lightly). My pizza had sausage, green peppers, and onions. The onions were black on part of the pizza and the cheese was brown. It was so burnt that I could barely taste the cheese. If I lived closer, I would have brought it back to the restaurant. The only reason I gave this two stars instead of one is because the sauce tasted decent. I'm not sure if this was just a one time bad experience or an off day, but I will not be visting this restaurant again. read more

Worst customer service experience ever!!! First, let me say, that Fox's pizza has been my favorite pizza for the last 35 years. I no longer live in the area, but last night I was in close proximity so I ordered a pizza for pick up. When I called to order, I was given my total and told to give them "a good 30 minutes" I arrived at the restaurant 30 minutes later and gave my name to the young lady at the counter. She couldn't find my order. She asked me if I was sure that I ordered from the Beverly location, to which I answered yes. She then proceeded to ask me to tell her the phone number I called. Since I've been ordering from the place longer than the girl has been alive, I had no problem telling her that I called 239-2312 as I STILL know the number by heart. She then asked me 3 more times how to spell my name and if there was a possibility the order could be under another name, to which I continued to say NO. Thankfully there was a young man at the counter who was able to figure out what the error was on THEIR part. They sent my order out for delivery. Since I don't live in the area, I asked how that could be possible and he rattled off an address. I said "oh yes, that would be a bowling alley where we previously had a party for one of my son's sports teams, I don't live there." Side note: I did order about 10 family size pizzas for that party and the parties held there previously. The young man informed me that the driver just left and he would call him to tell him to come back. They seemed to be disinterested in me any further until the young lady offered me a free 2 liter of pop which I declined. I conversed with other customers in the waiting area who were also shocked at their nonchalance of their error because at this point, no apology had been provided. The young lady spoke to me again and asked me if I would like to pay while I was waiting!! I said "Pay for a pizza that isn't here when I ordered for pick up?? NO!" I asked the young man if I could speak to the person in charge and he said he would get the manager. The woman came to the counter and as I attempted to explain what happened, she interrupted me and said she was aware. That's funny, if she was aware, why didn't she address ME?? Why did I have to ask to speak with her?? At any rate, I asked why there was no offer to make me a fresh pizza. She responded that they were busy and that would take at least 30 minutes. She then issued the first apology and asked me, "What do you want me to do, give you a discount?!?" I said NO. She then rang up a total which was about $5 less than the initial total I was provided over the phone. At this point, the driver came in and plopped my pizza on the counter which was 15 minutes AFTER I walked in to pick it up. I said to the manager, "Now I'm paying for a cold pizza." Her snippy comment was, "it was in a box." Why didn't I walk out without the pizza?? Because I had two hungry children with me who already waited 45 minutes. Maybe my one pizza didn't matter to the workers at Fox's last night, but it's a shame that I will no longer be ordering my favorite pizza from that location for my family or future team parties. I gave this place one star because I couldn't leave a review with zero stars. At 9:20 on a Monday we ordered a family sized pizza...my teenaged children picked the pizza up at about 10:00. When they made it home at 10:15...I couldn't believe my eyes...the pizza was cold and completely burned to a crisp. I know this was done intentionally and it's not funny at all...the cheese on the pizza was black the crust was burned...I will never return to this location...for years my district CPD station has ordered pizza and catered from Fox's so this wasn't my first visit but it's definitely my last...I feel totally disrespected by the employees of Fox's I chose not to call and complain because frankly I am too angry to talk to ANYONE at this restaurant...this wasn't a mistake at all it was intentionally done and deliberate act... read more

So, came here with my buddy who recommended this place. (I always fall for it.) Needless to say, not impressed. Actually sub-impressed. We were sat in an uncomfortable wooden booth and waited about ten minutes before a waitress came over, understandable because they were busy, but for some reason the place has a weird feel to it. It's dark, the booth next to us had kids climbing all over everything and the parents weren't doing a thing about it, and the clientele almost all looked like they were depressed in some order or another. Like the people with the kids just looked like they hated eachother and were on the brink of divorce. Maybe that's why they were out for pizza with the kids because nobody wanted to cook for the other because they hated eachother. I don't know, but this was the feeling that I was getting. Then I look to my left, and there it is. Some old ass group of people that couldn't hear anything the other was saying so they had to yell it, not to mention they all smelled like a nursing home. So this could've been their field trip or something, but just saying it's the feel of the place that got to me. As for the food, gosh. If you guys have ever had Jack's frozen pizza, this is it in fresh form. It's soggy, the sauce is Chef Boy-r-dee, and the pepperoni is sparse. The "hot" wings we were served were over cooked in the deep frier, and didn't have any sauce. So, overall it's poopy. It gets two stars. I save the one stars for just god awful places. Fox's Beverly Pub serves one of The Best thin crust pizza's on the Southside. I love just cheese and sauage, ask for it to be a little well done so the edges come carmelized. Among folks that grew up in Beverly there's lot's of conjecture on better or best thin crust pizza out here, but in reality no one does a better pizza than Fox's. Most that disagree are lost sheep that have grown tired of really great pizza and have scurried off to other dumps outside Beverly, but they are dead wrong and if they were on death row awaiting execution they would utter their last confession and secretly ask for Fox's pizza before they were escorted to the lethal injection veiwing booth. Don't be fooled by people here who complain of service or other items on the menu. The only reason to go to Fox's is thin crust pizza. The sausage is tinged with a hint of fennel and the sauce is thin and not sweet or salty. Great pizza will always prevail over cracker crust imitations. Fox's serves great pizza. Amen read more
